  1. Hello, I would find it very useful if I was able to freely position the tool pop ups from for example the curve or hsl tool. Especially on the iPad Pro 11 inch the center placement of the tool often makes it harder to judge the impact adjustments have on the image while using the tool as it takes up a lot of screen real estate in the center. A great addition would be if something like being able to undock tool and drag it with two fingers to a different location in the workspace would be implemented. Thanks for considering, Johannes
  2. Hello people. I created this project using the affinity designer. Hope you like it https://www.behance.net/gallery/86462907/WhatsApp-Redesign
  3. UPDATE: OOPS - THIS BELONGS IN PHOTO FORUM Just some quick notes on the New Panorama UI and related issues. I was trying to stitch a 10 image panorama. I had a very slow workflow. In the UI presented when tapping the button to select photos from Apple's Photos app, there is no option to deselect the square crop view; seeing the entire photo and its orientation helps identify which images to select. Currently it's not an intuitive process. Also, there seems to be quite a bit of unused space all around the "Images" list and "Panorama" list in the main Panorama UI, which forces one to excessively scroll on the left Images list while trying to decipher the tiny icons' orientation. Same for the Panorama preview list on the right, it is tiny as well. I'm working on an 11" iPad Pro with more limited real estate than the 12.9" Keep up the great work, the apps are incredible and you guys are trailblazing bringing desktop feature set to mobile device
  4. The assets pad objects thumbs showing is too small, I can hardly distiguish after a lot objects being added, if it can be zoom bigger will be better.
  5. Some thoughts on Personas, Sudiolink, and Edit In… commands. It seems to me there is room for improvement in the approach to publisher’s implementation of personas and the studio link feature as well as the edit in photo and edit in designer menu items in both affinity publisher and affinity designer. I believe publisher’s personas need to be addressed. Instead of a designer icon persona, it would be a vector persona icon. Instead of an affinity photo icon for the persona, it ought to be something akin to designers pixel or raster persona. I think reserving the app icons exclusively for the studio link feature would be wise. It may be a good idea to have a separate studio link section on the tool bar, before the personas, as a shortcut to the edit in command that usually sends the file from one app to the other while closing it in the originating app. In addition, this leaves a possibility for publisher to develop or host new personas, such as a preflight persona, an extensive resource / font / hyperlink manager persona, an export persona. some of these may be shared across apps like the export persona, if one owns the hosting app, As publisher currently does with designer and photo. affinity might want to open up the persona as a plug-in platform of sorts, but much more powerful than anything offered in competing suites. Of course it would be beneficial to manage the personas through an app pref pane, to disable and enable what suits one’s workflow. An approach like this might yield a very flexible and customizable set of tools and modules that interact with each other, specifically tailored to an individual’s process. Just some ideas...
  6. In the text panel alone there can be found two different icons for linking values. And in the transformation panel there is another variation to the icon. Also I did not recognise the icon next to the word gutter as a button. See screenshot attached.
  7. Is there a way to change the way that the brush panel interface displays brushes within Affinity's desktop software? For instance, currently it's a list with the large brush previews by default, but could I view them as just icons, or even a list with smaller previews? And is there a way to view the brush names along with the previews? The reason I'm asking is, having the brushes as icons (like in PS) helps with efficiency as I don't need to scroll through a list to find the brush I need. Similarly, having the title display with the brush in a list (like on the iPad versions of Affinity), would be handy as sometimes the previews can look similar but look different when being used. That way I can check the title of the brush I choose to make sure it's the right one. Let me know!
  8. Mouse wheel scroll doesn't respond on the paragraph and character panels. You need to scroll dragging the scroll bar. Other panels (Layers, styles, color, etc.) are wheel scrollable without issues. Having in mind how long those two panels could be if all options expanded, this is a bit of nuisance. Specially on smaller screens.
  9. This may have been mentioned by others. One of the obstacles facing Photoshop users wanting to migrate to Affinity is that Adobe users find it difficult to locate corresponding tools, palettes, and menus. Possibly Serif wanted to avoid similarities because of real or supposed copyright issues. I come from a software development background. If Serif could allow users to customize their own interface, that might help. I'm thinking in particular of bespoke 'skins', where an encompassing Photoshop-like UI filters commands from the user to the underlying Affinity program. It would take a burden off users.
  10. Could be interesting to have the possibility of adding a button to the upper toolbar that hides the interface (the same as pressing the <tab> key). Sure, when hiding the interface elements the ulper toolbar also dissapears.... so it can be necessary to think about another solution, like a floating button that appear when hiding the interface, or that the hide button isn’t on the upper bar and located on the window title bar, or anything imaginative else.... The reason is that the key command (<tab>) not always works... especially when text tools are selected or the like Emilio
  11. When saving a Designer document from the ‘gallery’ screen, the dialogue that displays upon completion needs the words “for speed readers only” added. Or maybe an “OK” button, or some sort of user interaction to allow us to read what went where. It’s a bit nerve wracking to not know where your document actually went upon trying to put it away carefully. 10B72A3A-8BA2-42CA-A9DD-63503A4C934D.MP4
  12. I'm used to the magic of InDesign, but working with Affinity Publisher is my hopeful replacement of this good, but overpriced software. Thanks so much for the BETA testing opportunity. Here's a wishlist and some glitches I've encountered: ● HYPERLINKS: Add the option to include hyperlinks on any text (including when it's saved to curves. (For example, I want to hyperlink /myname on my resume to www.linkedin.com/myname, but can’t, and don’t want to waste the visual space adding the entire link when an icon will do) ● BULLET STYLES: Setting up bullet styles could be easier. In general, I want a small indent on the text after my bullets, and the continuing text on the next line, and thereafter to be indented the same as the first line (pretty standard). Currently, this requires putting in a bullet, changing the Tabstop value, then scrolling up to the Spacing menu and putting in a left indent, which for some reason automatically changes the first line indent, which I then have to change back to zero. I think it would be better if A) changing the left indent doesn’t automatically change the first line indent - really no menu change should automatically change another menu item, IMO. B) The bullet automatically has a more standard indenting default, which people can adjust if they like. I think it’s unlikely that a first line only indent on a bulleted list is anyone’s preference. ● INSERT IMAGES IN TEXT BOX: I’d like to be able to insert an image inside a text box (ie. Where the bottom of the image is aligned with the line of the bottom of the type on a line as the default, but this could be changed, and/or insert an image in a table and have text flow around it. Right now, I can’t figure out if there’s a way to do this. ● SCREEN SPACE / INTERFACE IMPROVEMENTS: The Pages and Assets menu - on a small laptop screen, this is taking a lot of space that could be better used for viewing your design. I’d like to be able to shrink the menu to half the width, or close it completely. There’s a lot of wasted space if you switch to medium or small size page icons, so not sure why it has been given so much real estate! ● COLUMNS: When creating columns in a text box (ie. Not in a table), I would like the option to adjust the space between columns - I see you can move them - adjusting the columns themselves, but I would like to set a different spacing to apply to a whole text box. ● LINES: I can’t figure out an easy way to draw or insert a straight line as a design element. The option seems to be to use the pencil, but requires a very steady hand - would be ideal to set a start and end point and have it default to a straight horizontal, and/or snap to some logical angles when you rotate it. ● PLACING .AI FILES: For some reason when I’m placing .ai graphics, Affinity is adding a lot of extra empty space around the edges, which means the graph/ic is so large that I cannot find the corners to shrink, and/or clip it. I’m working with a really old version of Illustrator, so could be why? This is definitely causing some headaches.
  13. When using the paint or eraser tools on the iPad is there anyway of showing where I am drawing? Like on the laptop (Image below)?
  14. This is a general issue on the three apps from Affinity, maybe not a bug but a "not a feature" but is a nasty issue. When you change a setting in a pane, on most cases, you can't use tab key to go to next field. Yes, it works good on the color mixer, but don't work in almost any other panel. You change a field, and the next tab is interpreted as a regular tab instead of going to the next field. That means than most of the time I end with the studios hidden because tab hide it instead of going to next field. Is the only set of apps I know that doesn't let you navigate fields using tab key and forcing to make a click in each field that you need to modify. I don't know why, because the color mixer works well, so it is clear that is feasible feature. Only other exception is in dialogs, that works because you are on a window and can't go anywhere until you close it.
  15. I understand that the print layout is in the Print dialog because it relates to printing, and that the Layout could be different each time, but I also find it clumsy. I would like to create Layouts that I could save and use over, or use to make another Layout by just changing a few parameters. I would also like to see a more graphic interface. The print preview in this dialog is ridiculously small, and almost useless. The old Page Plus did this much better. Although I specify a Paper Size: “Letter”, the Width and Height shown in this dialog are GIGANTIC!. (see the attached) Since I already created a left margin on the page, I shouldn’t have to do it here on the Print dialog, but I must to make it work.
  16. It would be so awesome to be able to import from CC0 pictures from places like Pixabay, Flickr, Opec Clip Art Library and such.
  17. Is there any plan to support iPad mobile / touch interface for Surface (windows) platform?
  18. Hello there, sorry if this has been requested before but I searched and didn't find anything. I have attached a screen shot of how I like to layout Affinity Designer. I know it doesn't leave me much working room on my laptop but it gives me quickest access as I am learning the program. I have been an illustrator user for over 20 years so the transition is going smoothly considering the bad habits I have picked up along the way with adobe! One of the things I like about the 'Studios' concept Affinity uses is its simplicity in how it works. I would like to request the ability to have multiple studios on both the left and right if possible. This can enable more interface elements to be on screen in one go rather than changing interfaces as you need tools. I usually use the tab key to turn off the interface if I need more space but doing this with my current layout leaves me with a big area of desktop that I can't use. As I said, I'm sure it isn't for everyone but it does add to the flexibility of how people can use the interface in whatever way they choose. Thanks, Dan
  19. The typography window/panel cannot be made to accommodate a complete word. Could an option be available to increase the width of the panel?
  20. The typography window/panel cannot be made to accommodate a complete word. This is a bit irritating. Can this be remedied?
  21. I've used Suitcase to remove extraneous fonts from my user library but there's still a great number of fonts remaining in the system that show up in the drop down of Designer. Is there some way to manage the fonts in that menu option? I know I can limit the number by placing some in a favorites category but I'd like to have the general drop down exclude all the irrelevent options.
  22. First of all, AP is a great app. It may well be the equal too, and in some ways, superior to Photoshop. The problem isn't the tool but in the interface. Or more precisely, learning the interface. Choosing to appeal to PS users, disaffected or otherwise, I believe the Serif team made two incorrect assumptions about those users in development, including: 1. That changing terminology from the gold standard Photoshop wouldn't be a problem. The words we call things matter. Example, if common usage (the base term) is that A is a process that uses tool B, changing the base term to C means that user has to learn that C now redefines the process, renames it and so moves it into a different indexed space, just to find, and use, tool B. That is further complicated if the assignment of A to C using tool B is changed to assign it to tool D without a reference , e.g., "if you used B in Photoshop to do A, to do the same thing in Affinity you should use D to do C." Without that guide, a digital Rosetta Stone, the learning curve becomes much more difficult. 2. That everybody who used Photoshop used the tools in the same way. This may be the greater mistaken: PS users do not use PS the same way. The many-ways approach isn't just a marketing term for PS, it was integral to how many long-term users learned and applied the program. Like many other PS users, I've been at it through several generations of the app, and learned which of the myriad PS ways to completing a task worked best for me. Not the best ways, perhaps, but my ways. In fact, these two assumptions are why I'm struggling with AP and may have to switch back to PS.
  23. Hi A very happy user of Designer here. I am using Assets extensively, but wondered if we could have the option of increasing the size of the preview in the catalog. It was also be useful to have the names under the asset instead of only showing up when hovering the mouse. Thanks Simon
  24. In Affinity Photo blend modes are a feature - and I guess most people with some experience have tried them or know how to use them. They are arranged in groups - but it would be helpful if the menu could be presented either with spaces or other delimiters between groups in the menu, of with different backgrounds or features so that the groups become clearer - e.g. Darkening group, LIghtening group and so on. I've not checked right now with the iPad version as well, but it would be good if this also applied to that version. This wouldn't alter the functionality, but might make the interface easier for some people.
