Hello all, General question with some background: I'm new to Affinity, have little experience of Photoshop, and I'm relatively new to photography. I'm keen to attempt some Infra red photography as the examples I've seen online are very interesting. I have found plenty of instructions about how to process these images in PS, but I'm not always able to find the equivalent functions in Affinity Photo. Does anyone have an example workflow using Affinity that they have used for this sort of work. Many thanks in advance Neil

I'm brand new to Affinity Photo and would like to use it to process infrared images. I have seen the tutorial on producing simulated IR images but am thinking of getting a camera converted for IR use. I've used a friend's IR converted camera and when I brought the images into Affinity they still had a browny/red tinge to them. The minimum Kelvin temperature on the White Balance slider seemed to be 2000k. But I understand that it needs to be adustable between about 1200-1800k in order to remove the colour cast. Is it possible to do this in Affinity? Thanks

Hi there! I do a lot of technical photography, including shooting infrared in raw format. I've long searched for an iOS app I can use to do some post processing work on my infrared shots, but I've faced two challenges. Being able to do the "standard" channel reversals that are ubiquitous in infrared processing. Being able to take in raw files and benefit from their data for greater dynamic range in the results. To be clear, because I'be seen many articles on many sites that discuss infrared processing and what they are discussing is converting a conventional photo to look like infrared. I'm shooting actual infrared on a modified camera. In Photoshop, the norm is to: Go to Image > Adjustments > Channel Mixer On the Output Channel: Red, change red output from 100 to 0 On the Output Channel: Red, change blue output from 0 to 100 On the Output Channel: Blue, change red output from 0 to 100 On the Output Channel: Blue, change blue output from 100 to 0 This essentially reverses the red and blue channels, taking an infrared original and making it the most common "false color infrared"image type used. My questions are: Can Affinity perform these types of channel switches? I've tried this in a great number of iOS apps and have yet to find one that does it, so I'm understandably fatigued with "purchase another app and roll the dice". Knowing it can perform this task would be a major factor for me and anyone who shoots in true infrared. Can Affinity take in Nikon raw files, including multiple raw files to use for HRD assemblies? Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this. Affinity looks to be an awesome photo app. I'm very hopeful that it has what I need to really streamline my workflow. Cheers.

I am still climbing the AP learning curve, but already my compliments for an amazing piece of software. I have a feeling the following should be possible, however I am not sure how to approach it. I have a large number of slides and negatives, scanned with a scanner (Nikon CoolScan 5000 ED) that also records dust and scratch information using a separate infrared channel. From these scans I can create both an RGB tiff file, which loads fine in AP, and an infrared tiff file, which also loads fine and shows dust and scratches as black on a white background. My question is: can I use the IR file to automatically remove dust and scratches from the RGB image, preferably with some control over the aggressiveness of the effect? Thanks in advance!
