  1. At present I am wondering what I can do with my new webcam, and how best to take stills with it, when I'm not making video. I'm guessing you can't import straight from a camera into Affinity, so I'm wondering what other people use to get best quality, non-jpg stills from their webcam. As a Mac user, I'm not expecting a miracle (webcams seem to be the least developed part of any Mac setup), but I'm sure there are better options than Photobooth. I'm interested in non-Mac related feedback for future reference. If this question seems obscure, it probably is. It's based on having had a stop motion building section, in a Logitec software we owned when I was a kid. Made a lot of work with that. Combined with how often I use my phone's camera and apps in my projects, it would be cool to have a similar function to my computer layout sometimes too.
  2. Hello, I am using Affinity Photo (AP) 1.6.3 on iPad Pro 12.9" 512Gb (2017) running iOS 10.2.3. My entire photos library of 40000 photos is synced on iCloud. Bug #1: When end trying to import a photo into AP from the Apple Photos app, I notice that a great many photos are not showing up in the import pane. As well, a lot of albums are also not showing up. The missing photos are both jpegs & RAW, which are either original, or edited in the Mac Photos app. Bug #2: The sequence of the albums displayed in the import pane is completely random, it is neither alphabetical, not chronological. I have over a hundred albums in my library and this random sequence makes it extremely frustrating to find an album. I trust these bugs will soon be fixed. In addition to fixing the bugs, if it were possible to have a search field in the import pane, this would make it extremely convenient to find a photo by keyword, or an album by name. (One can search by keywords in the Apple iOS Photos app). Better still, if a photo could be directly imported into AP from the Apple Photos app, this would be best of all! Thanks & regards.
  3. I'm noticing files are not retaining their original name i.e. _DSC1019 etc after importing from the Photos app. They are renamed Untitled in the browser window. To retain the original file name I have to share them from my FileBrowser by Stratospherix Ltd.
  4. I am working on a Mac and when I import a PDF file into Affinity Designer the fonts disappear. I have attached screenshots of the problem. Any help would be great thanks!
  5. I am using affinity version 1.6.4 on the iPad Pro (newest version) I am having trouble with importing raw flies into affinity from either iCloud or google drive. I can access both from affinity but the files are grayed unable to be selected. I'm using a Nikon d750.
  6. Just got Affinity Photo for iPad and the app keeps crashing when I try to import a RAW Fuji X-Pro 1 file. Im importing the RAW photo from the Photos app. It was imported on my computer and then synced across my devices via iCloud. Wondering if something happened along the way? Here is the file in question. FJI17562.RAF
  7. I'm using Capture One Pro 10 (MacOS 10.12.6) for my raw converter. Using the "Edit In..." selection in Capture One allows me to open my files in Affinity Photo and saves the changes back to the PSD or TIFF file created in the process. If I do this with multiple files for stitching, Affinity opens them in tabs, but I can't find anyway to select the open images as the source for stitching. Is there some way to select open files for panos and merges? I can export the files and open them from the selection box but that kind of makes a mess of my workflow. Thanks!
  8. Hi there - after the early July update, the "Import from Photos" section changed for the better in terms of UI, but the devs seemed to have taken away the ability to access photos synced from your computer - meaning, I can ONLY choose iPad-native photos - which are extremely limited because almost no one takes pictures with tablets. Including myself. Where did the options go? I had thousands of pics to edit but now have access to maybe 20, including screenshots and selfies and other things I don't want to edit in a professional capacity. Do i really have to go through and mark all my MacOS photos as 'favorites'? Something is off here, any help would be appreciated! Best, n8r
  9. I am using Affinity Photo 1.5.2 on a MacBook Pro 15" mid-2017. Here's my issue. I have a PDF generated on macOS Sierra with the inbuilt PDF generator selectable from the print dialog everywhere. I printed a statement from PayPal that I needed to hand to someone for a refund. Naturally I wanted to redact data on the statement that was none of their business, so I imported the document in Photo for editing. The import itself took many minutes for this 5 page sparsely populated (no images) document. Photo seemed hung in many aspects after after importation. Saving the Photo document also takes a long time as does reading it back from disc. I have performed the same set of operations on other PDFs in the past and as a part of this particular session without any issues or slowdowns. I am hesitant to post the document here but I am happy to provide a copy to the dev team. Cheers
  10. Hello guys, I am new to AF Designer - just imported my ai file and it seems the layers of my ai file are not imported. What can I do to see all layers in AF Designer, as well, and be able to work on them? hanky for your help
  11. I just downloaded the program on my iPad Pro. First thing I tried was a hdr merge of three images. The next window asked me to add a photo or cancel. When I click add photo, I expected it to take me to my photo library, but instead it took me to iCloud Drive which I do not participate in. Is there an a way to source the photos from my photo library rather than iCloud Drive? Thank you.
  12. I purchased the Mac version of Affinity Photo and was at first very satisfied. However the day previous to me writing this I went to import a few RAW files and found the application would just hang for a long time, whereas on other computers with programs like Photoshop loaded, those would load almost immediately — certainly loading faster than this did. Then when it came to using the Develop Persona, I found myself again restricted because I couldn't do anything while it was developing and again, the application often hung during this process to the point that after several minutes the app was still apparently developing (when it worked, the Develop dialogue box went away fairly quickly, and I applied the exact same settings from the 'Basic' tab each time). I at first tried to import 38 photos so I took this into account when it came to the importing process, however again this was slower than I've experienced in programs like Photoshop or Lightroom — then I lowered this number from 38 to 15, and found that this didn't help. Throughout this entire process I found myself having to force quit the app and restart it because it just stopped responding. In the end I had to import photos one-by-one, working on only one image at a time, and exporting that single image before importing the next. This took me an excruciatingly long time.
  13. Hi, I noticed that Affinity Photo always thinks my RAW images are 96 DPI. The only way I know that I change that is to resize it AFTER I'm done with developing the raw image. Is there any way to set a default for all my raw images to be 300 dpi while I'm importing the RAW file or do I have to always "resize" it (without resampling)?
  14. I am not very into vector and AD was like a magic wand to me. All of a sudden I knew how to create vectorised artwork on the fly, so to speak. I thought. Then I was asked to work on a project which would have to be vector. I imported a logo I had made earlier and exported as an eps-file. All vector. I made an elegant brush which I thought was vector. And when it all looked as I wanted it to in AD, I exported it as .eps and sent it to the print shop - and was asked why I sent them a bitmap when they wanted vector. After lots of tearing my hair out accompanied by swearing in multiple languages, I finally learnt what was wrong. If you import an image into your artwork, using the tool for that, it is being transformed into a bitmap image, no matter what it was earlier. You need to open up the vector-file in AD as an individual file and then copy it and then paste it into your artwork. Then it remains a vector-file with all layers and info intact. And the brushes you create in AD are not vector, not even when you create it in Vector Persona. It is bitmap. The solution here was to export it and having it traced, something a very kind user helped me out with, since I don't have programmes with such a feature - a feature I hope will be added to AD soon. So, my question is whether it shouldn't come up a warning to us vector-dummies? I know, it might be annoying for the true pros to see pop ups notifying about such as they consider self-evident, but there are solutions to that. Either being able to turn that off or on in the preferences or having an option in the message: Don't show this message again. Just a thought. It would have saved me for a lot of frustration. And probably helped a lot of others as well.
  15. I have file that was made in (of course) illustrator with some graphics. When I open in AD, they are literally slices with Curves adjustments - Open in Illustrator and click the graphics I want copy for pasting in AP and after a couple clicks, I can Select the group of graphics. Anyways. Thoughts? Also last thing. Here is what Illustrate says about slices when I open the EPS in Illi.
  16. I just got Affinity to replace Photoshop and I'm big into graphic design. So, I like to download a lot of fonts and then upload them to figure out which one I like best. But I don't understand how to correctly do that on Affinity of if its even possible???
  17. Hi, I am starting a ten day trial. Previously used aperture and wondering how to import photos directly from aperture to Affinity please?
  18. New to Apple & Affinity. I shoot both jpeg & RAW on my D800. I have imported some of my images into Apple photo but I can only see the jpeg images. How do I get to work on the RAW ones. ?
  19. How do you import a photograph and resize to fit say a 40 mm square
  20. Hello--apologies for this simple question. Newbie here. I have scanned from a simple sketch on paper and placed it in AD. My issue is that the 'white' background paper (and its ever greyer paper edges) shows and I don't know how to eliminate it simply. Is there a simple button fix? Do I have to mask? Erase? I was hoping for an easy solution since I will be scanning dozens like this. All help appreciated. I attached the document. Cheers, Connie
