  1. So I’ve tried searching the forum and I can’t find anything (at least to the best of my ability) on this, yet I see a lot about this online. I’m trying to import brushes in AP and they show up as a gray file no matter what I do on iPad Pro. It’s driving me crazy. Everything is unzipped and it’s an .abr file. What am I doing wrong?!
  2. I'm trying Affinity Publisher Beta 1.7.0.227 on a Mac using OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks) and the Import Text from File is not in the Text drop down menu so I can't import text from other documents. I tried using File Place with the cursor in the Text Box but all my documents were "greyed" and clicking on them doesn't work. The Help files from Affinity say to use Import Text from Files in the Text drop down menu so I looked at other drop down menus but the command just doesn't exist. Suggestions? Thanks. Frank
  3. Hi, I searched on the forum and internet before posting but I didn't found anything so... I'm trying to create a brochure on Publisher but I'm making the cover drafts in Designer. I've imported the Designer file on Publisher as image but it shows me only the first page. I cannot shift the content from its container to reveal other pages. Double clicking on the image the Designer file is opened inside a Publisher window but I don't know if there's a way to control the page view from it. Any suggestion? -EDITED 5 minutes after- Sorry for bothered this forum. I've found the menu to manage the multiple pages of a linked Designer file (see the attachment). I already love Publisher. You guys rock! P.s. Let me know if I must delete the post if useless...
  4. I've searched for specific answers but have come up empty handed on how to get styles and application palettes from Designer on the desktop imported to Designer on the iPad. When I attempt to import styles from a cloud stored file, the respective .AFSTLYES file is grayed out. I don't see a way to import application palettes, (or create one from an image or document, which would work also). I know you can access a document palette, but you can't save that to the system palettes so that doesn't work if you want to use that palette on another document. Is there a reason why this isn't possible? Is there some limitation from being on an iPad that keeps these features from being on the roadmap?
  5. On my iPad I use Lightroom Mobile as my primary editing program. I would like to use Affinity for some editing but I need to be able to export back to Lightroom Mobile so I can continue to keep Creative Cloud workflow synced. How do I accomplish this?
  6. Greetings, all. I'm loving Affinity Designer on my iPad. I don't have any experience with Illustrator, but have watched tutorials and thought about looking at it more seriously. Then AD came out and I pounced right away. I'm relatively new to working in vectors outside of some basic stuff with the pen tool in Photoshop, and the whole artboards thing is very new to me. SO! On to my actual question: is there a way to import a layered file into a pre-existing artboard? I have created an artboard to muck around with some business card ideas to promote myself as an artist. I can import an image just fine. Basically, I want to use the logo I created for my website for one side of the card, but I want to have access to the layers to move certain elements around or make adjustments for clarity as it is in a reduced size. I've already been able to download the layered file from the cloud and open it as it's own document in AD just fine. I'm just wondering if there's a means for me to add it in it's layered format onto my business card artboard. Thanks for any forthcoming enlightenment or revelations that what I'm trying to do can't be done! Toby
  7. I want to import a picture from photos on ipad into Affinity to experiment with. Apart from getting a blank import screen nothing else happens when I press the import from photos button. I assumed it would sync with my photos app. I am not finding Affinity particularly intuitive. I would like to get started on my own project rather than just play with tutorials. When will A book for iPad be available? I have bought the tome that applies to Mac thinking it might be of some use with ipad. Workflow is signficantly different as not to be useful with ipad, unfortunately. Advice would be appreciated.
  8. At present I am wondering what I can do with my new webcam, and how best to take stills with it, when I'm not making video. I'm guessing you can't import straight from a camera into Affinity, so I'm wondering what other people use to get best quality, non-jpg stills from their webcam. As a Mac user, I'm not expecting a miracle (webcams seem to be the least developed part of any Mac setup), but I'm sure there are better options than Photobooth. I'm interested in non-Mac related feedback for future reference. If this question seems obscure, it probably is. It's based on having had a stop motion building section, in a Logitec software we owned when I was a kid. Made a lot of work with that. Combined with how often I use my phone's camera and apps in my projects, it would be cool to have a similar function to my computer layout sometimes too.
  9. Is it possible to install or import the Affinity Photo styles that I downloaded from the Internet? I’m working on an iPad Pro, iOS 11. thanks, bkabstract
  10. I am working on a Mac and when I import a PDF file into Affinity Designer the fonts disappear. I have attached screenshots of the problem. Any help would be great thanks!
  11. I'm using Capture One Pro 10 (MacOS 10.12.6) for my raw converter. Using the "Edit In..." selection in Capture One allows me to open my files in Affinity Photo and saves the changes back to the PSD or TIFF file created in the process. If I do this with multiple files for stitching, Affinity opens them in tabs, but I can't find anyway to select the open images as the source for stitching. Is there some way to select open files for panos and merges? I can export the files and open them from the selection box but that kind of makes a mess of my workflow. Thanks!
  12. Hi there - after the early July update, the "Import from Photos" section changed for the better in terms of UI, but the devs seemed to have taken away the ability to access photos synced from your computer - meaning, I can ONLY choose iPad-native photos - which are extremely limited because almost no one takes pictures with tablets. Including myself. Where did the options go? I had thousands of pics to edit but now have access to maybe 20, including screenshots and selfies and other things I don't want to edit in a professional capacity. Do i really have to go through and mark all my MacOS photos as 'favorites'? Something is off here, any help would be appreciated! Best, n8r
  13. Hello guys, I am new to AF Designer - just imported my ai file and it seems the layers of my ai file are not imported. What can I do to see all layers in AF Designer, as well, and be able to work on them? hanky for your help
  14. I just downloaded the program on my iPad Pro. First thing I tried was a hdr merge of three images. The next window asked me to add a photo or cancel. When I click add photo, I expected it to take me to my photo library, but instead it took me to iCloud Drive which I do not participate in. Is there an a way to source the photos from my photo library rather than iCloud Drive? Thank you.
  15. Hello I exported an affinity file as PSD. I opened it with photoshop cs6 and tried to edit the text. It seems i can't edit the text as it was not exported as editable text. Same was the case for import but it was solved from Preference option. Is there a way to export text as text for PSD? Most of my client will not PSD export as they don't have AD.
  16. Hi there, I work as an artist and am often scanning in my work for archive purposes, sometimes off slides, sometimes off the work itself. I use an Epson scanner for this purpose, which can scan a 35mm slide at up to 6400 dpi, resulting in of course a very large file but occasionally this is useful. More often I'm scanning artworks at 600dpi and I'm wondering what happens to these when I open them in Affinity, or stitch them together in a new document - which of course has a maximum pixel limit of 400dpi. I understand that 300dpi is the norm, but I can't be the only person scanning in slides which then need manipulating. Any chance of upping the max DPI, or reassuring me that no quality is lost putting higher dpi files into affinity? I should explain here that I do realise dpi actually has no meaning in the digital realm and expect the file probably opens just a little larger than the prescribed pixel size to account for the extra info contained in the file. Would be good to know though, many thanks.
  17. Hi, I noticed that Affinity Photo always thinks my RAW images are 96 DPI. The only way I know that I change that is to resize it AFTER I'm done with developing the raw image. Is there any way to set a default for all my raw images to be 300 dpi while I'm importing the RAW file or do I have to always "resize" it (without resampling)?
  18. Hey! I wasn't entirely sure if this went here, or feature requests, but I'll give it a go: I'm required to deliver work in .ai format, but I absolutely prefer using Designer as my main tool. However, whenever I attempt to import work with gradients in it into illustrator, it becomes rasterized. I'm not sure this is something you/Affinity can do anything about, but it really slows down my work flow when I have to remove all gradients and reapply them in illustrator, in order to use Affinity Designer for the work i need. Attached two files: One view of an object with a gradient in Affinity (tried with app store version and the current beta) and view of illustrator. Top leaf saved in Designer as EPS and "placed," bottom leaf copied and pasted. The square to the left is the raster image added within a clipping path that happens (see the layer panel.) Worth a shot! :) Let me know if I'm being impossible!
  19. I am not very into vector and AD was like a magic wand to me. All of a sudden I knew how to create vectorised artwork on the fly, so to speak. I thought. Then I was asked to work on a project which would have to be vector. I imported a logo I had made earlier and exported as an eps-file. All vector. I made an elegant brush which I thought was vector. And when it all looked as I wanted it to in AD, I exported it as .eps and sent it to the print shop - and was asked why I sent them a bitmap when they wanted vector. After lots of tearing my hair out accompanied by swearing in multiple languages, I finally learnt what was wrong. If you import an image into your artwork, using the tool for that, it is being transformed into a bitmap image, no matter what it was earlier. You need to open up the vector-file in AD as an individual file and then copy it and then paste it into your artwork. Then it remains a vector-file with all layers and info intact. And the brushes you create in AD are not vector, not even when you create it in Vector Persona. It is bitmap. The solution here was to export it and having it traced, something a very kind user helped me out with, since I don't have programmes with such a feature - a feature I hope will be added to AD soon. So, my question is whether it shouldn't come up a warning to us vector-dummies? I know, it might be annoying for the true pros to see pop ups notifying about such as they consider self-evident, but there are solutions to that. Either being able to turn that off or on in the preferences or having an option in the message: Don't show this message again. Just a thought. It would have saved me for a lot of frustration. And probably helped a lot of others as well.
  20. I have file that was made in (of course) illustrator with some graphics. When I open in AD, they are literally slices with Curves adjustments - Open in Illustrator and click the graphics I want copy for pasting in AP and after a couple clicks, I can Select the group of graphics. Anyways. Thoughts? Also last thing. Here is what Illustrate says about slices when I open the EPS in Illi.
  21. Hi, I am starting a ten day trial. Previously used aperture and wondering how to import photos directly from aperture to Affinity please?
  22. I just got Affinity to replace Photoshop and I'm big into graphic design. So, I like to download a lot of fonts and then upload them to figure out which one I like best. But I don't understand how to correctly do that on Affinity of if its even possible???
  23. New to Apple & Affinity. I shoot both jpeg & RAW on my D800. I have imported some of my images into Apple photo but I can only see the jpeg images. How do I get to work on the RAW ones. ?
  24. How do you import a photograph and resize to fit say a 40 mm square
  25. Hello--apologies for this simple question. Newbie here. I have scanned from a simple sketch on paper and placed it in AD. My issue is that the 'white' background paper (and its ever greyer paper edges) shows and I don't know how to eliminate it simply. Is there a simple button fix? Do I have to mask? Erase? I was hoping for an easy solution since I will be scanning dozens like this. All help appreciated. I attached the document. Cheers, Connie
