  1. Hello, I'd like to report a bug that occurs when importing a picture into Affinity Photo : the imported picture (creating a new layer) looks blurry. This happens because it surely is in subpixel coordinates. To fix this though, I have to align the layer to any horizontal and vertical sides, then I can finally move it freely - it'll remain aligned with the canvas pixels. However the best would be to avoid subpixel alignment, or to have an option for disabling it. Thank you in advance for your help !
  2. Hi all, Specs: Designer Version 1.8.3.641. Photo Version 1.8.3.641 Windows 10 Intel Core i5-8265U 1.6GHz w/ Turbo Boost up to 3.9Ghz RAM - 8 GB I've recently downloaded a few free .abr brush sets online which I was able to successfully import into both Photo and the Pixel Persona of Designer after just a few seconds of loading, annoyingly now I've purchased a brush set the software seems to fall over itself when I try and import it. I bought the new Photoshop Brush Set (30+ brushes) from Sketch-a-Day (created in Photoshop CC I believe), but when I try to import it either in Photo or the Pixel Persona of Designer, I get the blue spinning wheel but the software never seems to recover. I've not timed how long I've left it to try and recover, but I'm sure it's been about 20-30 mins without any response at least. The brushes only cost $14 or about £12, but I'd really rather have them working! I've imported other .abr files so I'm hoping there's a way I can get this file imported too. The file size is 39.2mb - could that be the issue? I've tried importing the file into GIMP and only a handful of the brushes came in, but only a few worked correctly as far as I could tell. If anyone could give some suggestions, I'd be happy to try anything at all! Thanks, Josh
  3. I have recently downloaded some resources from Affinity Resources, namely a set of brushes (the Fog and Smoke Starter Pack) and a set of Styles (Dream-Metals-Styles). I went to my styles panel and clicked "Import". I found my download location (Downloads folder) but Designer could not recognize the UNzipped Affinity files. I can see them with no problems when using Windows Explorer, but neither of the packages are visible from the Import panel in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. Very frustrating to have these delicious new styles and brushes to use but not be able to get to them!! I followed the instructions in the Help feature - step by step - but Affinity just doesn't see them. Any help would be appreciated!!
  4. Hi, I want to import a lot of images (jpg on png) as calc in a single project and not each one as "new project" (in Affinity photo). I don't find how to do it.
  5. 1.8.3.641 - WIN 10 latested updates - clean new reset of PC and therefore new installation of Affinity Photo. NVIDIA GTX 650 - newest driver 446.14 EIZO CS 2730 Also installed: Affinity Designer 1.83.641 + Affitity Publisher 1.83.641 and Capture One 13.1.0.162 (all downloaded today). --------- Hello, I'm new to the forum and didn't really find a similar problem description on Google. Therefore I'll ask here: When I open an image in Affinity Photo for the very first time via "File -> Open..." it often instantly crashes. When I retry with the same file at the same source there is no problem anymore. I first thought it had something to do with the fact, that the images are on a OneDrive directory (already downloaded before), but now, on my new clean system, it also crashed 2 times with local only images. Now, after approx. 10-15 tries with other files and sources, it works well. But I am afraid it will happen again when I do not expect it. I use DNG from Ricoh GR 3 and CR2 from Canon EOS 6. Strangley enough a have the same behaviour on my iPad Air 3 with the latest Affinity Photo App when I use "Import from cloud" and open files from OneDrive. Does anyone have an idea what can be the reason? I have not experienced such a behaviour in version under 1.83. Thank you very much in advanced. Best regards.
  6. Affinity Designer 1.8.3 See the attached SVG file. If i open it with other apps, e.g., Google Chrome, Inkscape, LightBurn, it opens correctly. See the attached screen captures from each of those apps and note the the path I indicate. When opened in Affinity Designer, the path indicated is incorrectly positioned as shown in the screen capture from it. I did a "select all" to highlight all of the elements of the drawing. Should be easily reproducible. GiftBox.svg
  7. I suppose you already have a plan to improve this compatibility but I post this just in case. Raster layer mask of fill layer(solid color layer) created in Photoshop become transparency instead of a mask in Affinity. Masks should be preserved as a mask if possible like on pixel layers.
  8. I'm cleaning up an old book file. It's a PDF, and there has been characters added in fonts that have to be removed, and color versions of the black-and-white plates inserted. Any suggestions on how to proceed are welcome.
  9. I am writing in google docs and have quite a few documents. They have the correct paragraph style such as Heading 1, Normal etc. It would be nice to have that preserved. If I download as docx and place it into AP, all styles will change name to lower case. "Heading 1" in google docs becomes "heading 1" in AP. I only have a trial of Word installed so it bugs me senseless. But I think I can see that the names of the styles are "Heading 1" etc. So I have to delete all wrongly named styles and assign everything manually. If I download as odt (libre office write) I can see that the style names are preserved. I can in libre office save as docx. When I import that into AP, the names of the styles is preserved. But (and a big but it is), all styles are overwritten with the formatting of the document. Text content already created in AP is changed to match the imported document. If I copy paste from google docs to AP, I only get plain text. Can someone suggest a good workflow to handle this? The best solution would be some kind of import that preserved the styles. The next best would be some mapping of paragraph styles. Like this: Replace "heading 1" with the existing "Heading 1" and delete "heading 1".
  10. Hi, I'm trying to build a phone directory booklet with Affinity. Let's go so far as to say that I can export the data from a spreadsheet and/or database in just about any conceivable format, I'm wondering what the right was is to pull it into Affinity Publisher using styles. Say, for instance, that each entry should look like: Smith, John 123 Main St. Blankendale, MN 88304-0014 816.929.4030 https://johnisgreat.com/fake-url-for-example-purposes Without going through every single entry manually (I have about 500 of them) and setting the style, what's the right way to do this in Affinity? I'd love to hear from Serif. In the end, I'm trying to produce a two-column staple-together booklet that I can update the bulk of the data via automation. Advice, tricks, tips, and warnings welcome.
  11. In these unique times, we want to help users transitioning to and from other DTP applications. We know that many designers are having to make budget cuts, and many are moving from Adobe to Affinity. We want to help you guys move your existing work to Publisher. So, we are giving away the full version of IDMarkz for usage through the end of May 2020. This is not the freebie version that locks out the IDML export; it's the full version with all features enabled. There are no charges or signups required to take advantage of this; it's how we feel we can help during these unprecedented times. If you are already using the freebie version of IDMarkz you can use the following license details to activate the full version to be used through May 2020: Email Address: doingourpart@markzware.com License ID: bf2f3a43-8466-4861-b5e6-2e0e00e4ac83 If you don't have the freebie, you can get all the information you need to get started here. Please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues. We'll be monitoring how this pandemic affects those in our industry, and we may extend the free usage beyond May 2020. Sorry Windows users, I can't give a timeline, but we are actively working on a Windows version.

  13. I have the doc "A Guide to installing creative resources downloaded from the Affinity Store." The Assets Studio is mentioned, and it tells me to import assets through the Assets Studio, but it doesn't tell me how to get those assets onto the iPad in the first place. Does the Assets Studio make a connection to my account on the Affinity Store and let me choose which to import?
  14. Dear developers, I have a problem with EPS import. I downloaded this vector pack what include an EPS and a JPEG: https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/set-people-character_4486128.htm When I opened in AD, then I get a few group, but thats no correct, curves mixed. If I open this EPS in Illustrator, then I get correct groups: every person a group. If I export this EPS to SVG by Illustrator, and open exported SVG in AD, then groups will ok. Please check, what's problem with groups in EPS import, because I don't want use Illustrator. Thanks!
  15. Hey there, I’m wondering if there’s any way to get a shortcut to open a photo in Affinity directly from my iPads Gallery export menu. I’ve tried clicking edit actions but can’t find affinity anywhere as an available shortcut. See screen shot *** please help :)
  16. Is it possible to open Adobe Illustrator (AI) files in Affinity Designer that were not saved with the "Create PDF Compatible File" option? If this is possible, please let me know how. You can view a screen recording of my attempt at this Dropbox link (or view attached video). After ditching and deleting all things Adobe, I am unable to go back & re-save the file as such. Any info/help would be appreciated. Thanks. Unsupported_AI_File.mov
Was soll das?
  18. Hello, There is a problem when importing / placing a PDF created by Sibelius (Music Notation software) . The PDF (see attached example) looks different from the original. Sibelius creates PDF 1.4 I´m working on Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Publisher 1.8. Everything looks good in QuarkXpress.
  19. I see the added export to Template iPad AP 1.8.0; however, I cannot locate how to import Templates. I searched the help files, nothing concerning Templates. Thank you, show me the button, lol.
  20. Hello, We are migrating our forms overlay process to Affinity Publisher and are forced to work with Windows Meta Files (.wmf) as our overlay. We start with the original overlay file (wmf) to open/import into Affinity, then save to .afpub. Next, we would make any changes, as needed, then save, and export to .wmf. Affinity creates a new .wmf file, but it is significantly larger than the original, it also can't be opened The problem with the .wmf file Affinity created is that it can't be opened by other windows programs. While our application is proprietary, Affinity's files can't be opened or viewed using the usual programs, like paint, which seems to be the issue. Any tips or setting change suggestions, or even what the issue is would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the original (FINL-org.wmf) file, the (FINL.afpub) and the Affinity created (FINL-pub.wmf). FINL-pub.wmf FINL-org.wmf FINL.afpub
  21. Hi, I was just curious.. I created a crescent moon as a end point. Is there a way to import it as a new arrowhead? Here's a demo pic.
  22. Dec. 16, 2019 We have been Quark users for ages. Is Publisher able to open Quark files? If not, will it be so in time? Thank you
  23. Thanks for adding the ability to import IDML files. This certainly makes transitioning away from InDesign more of a possibility, even when it is not quite there yet. What I miss at the moment are some options for importing. I noticed that when I import an IDML, the document settings are generally set to embed images instead of linking, and the document resolution is set to a curious 72 dpi? I would appreciate to have the option to change these settings when I import the file, as perhaps some preferences with regards to the pages you want to import and such.
  24. A user on Twitter reporting Importing of InDesign files in Beta working well and achieved by simply selecting Open and then selecting an .indd file. I am unable to import as all .indd files are greyed out in the Open finder on Mac. I am using latest version of Beta. Has anyone else had this issue and, more importantly, how was it resolved!?
  25. Mac desktop apps. Running both up to date designer and photo. I read in the Affinity help sections that all Affinity files can be opened in any Affinity app. But when I go to open a afphoto file in afdesign half the layers are missing from the afphoto file. Back story I designed a vector logo in afphoto and just bought afdesign over Black Friday. But the logo is not importing 100% into afdesign. If I click and drag the missing layer from photo over to the design window, That won't work either. Any help thanks. MTN Logo Square 2020 Final.afphoto
