  1. Hello community! How can I place a specific page of a PDF into Affinty Designer? If I place it with File>Place I can’t find import options. The only way I found, is opening the embedded file and deleting all other Artboards, which is a real pain in the *** and half of the time it didn’t work. I would also appreciate to place all pages or a range of pages. thanks for your answers :)
  2. Due 1.5 and the awesome symbols feature, I would like to open up some sketch files in AD. Is this possible now, and of not, or there plans to support this in the future? Thank you, R
  3. Hello, I have two questions on guides. 1. Why don't my guides saved to my Illustrator document work in Designer? I can create new guides but the ones from my AI files doesn't work. None of them seem to get imported, which is strange because Designer works otherwise very well with my AI files. 2. How do I export/import guides from one Designer project to another? Thanks, B
  4. Hi, i took a look to the devs roadmap, so i know it's full and i'm really waiting for that warp/distort tool ;) . But maybe one day you'll have the time to think about that : As a web designer, i'm using iconic fonts (like fontello sets of fonts), and i also use a font manager (of course). I've seen that i can put characters in the assets panel after copy/paste them from my font manager to my layout on affinity. So then i can reuse it afterward and that's pretty cool ! (as i can skip the copy/paste process), and i'm sure you know those fonts come with a stylesheet which name every characters... And your assets panel have a wonderful feature : search-box. So the idea is to be able ton import an iconic font (the all 2000+ in one clic gaahhh...) , with it's stylesheet (naming characters) et be able to use and search directly in affinity... Aannnd maybe, the coolest thing of all would be to be able to export the finished layout with it's iconic font (using only the few characters used in the design) with it's stylesheet up to date. Hope i'm clear enough ! Thx again , you rock guys i love your work as an old Firework user (finally switching) ! Cheers ! Bento
  5. Hi, i was wondering, if there was a way to import an iconic font direcly into the assets panel to use the icons directly from it, than using my font manager to copy and past the characters i need. Like for example i oftenly use Fontello iconic fonts (in one single exported font of more than 2000+ characters) and i can paste them one by one in a text box on Affinity Designer, then i can drag'n'drop them in the assets panel. But as i said ... thats more than 2000 characters so... Is there a way to do it all in one action? Thanks again ! Bento
  6. I started to use AD with the trial and I was really surprised by the speed and smooth workflow. I think it is already my best buy of the year. Great work, guys! Since I use AD primary for architectural presentation, I often need to import PDF printed from Autocad. When I import lines with thickness 0.02 mm (from Autocad plot styles) they are imported in AD with 0 thickness. The lines are present and I need to select them and change the thickness manually. The same PDF is imported well in Illustrator. How can I resolve the issue?
  7. Hi, if you open the following SVG: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagge_Israels#/media/File:Flag_of_Israel.svg the triangles are not the same as the original (see attached image). But if you change the value for "Gehrung" from "1,41" to e.g. "2", then the result is fine Cheers, Stefan.
  8. Hi, if you import the following svg file: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ae/Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg The imported result does not look like the original. It has to do with a mask on a curve. You can delete the mask, so the result looks "more similar" but is not like the original. Cheers, Stefan.
  9. I have received .psd & .eps file pairs from our designer (Adobe CS user). There are 3 pairs, each pair with a certain icon design and colour gradient (attached). If I open each .psd and .eps pair in Photoshop, they show identical results/values (as they should). In AP, the .eps files open up as per Photoshop, but the .psd files all have incorrect values for the colour gradients ... Archive.zip
  10. When I import some pdf in Affinity Designer, not all objects are imported. Even they are visible in the 'PDF options' splash screen. Is there something I overlook or is this a bug? If you would like, I can upload the pdf and a couple of screenshots in your private dropbox (which dropbox-account may I take?) Thanks !

    High resolution crash

Hello, I'm new to the Affinity forums so please let me know if I do something incorrectly. I seem to have an issue with affinity photo and designer. I have an image that is an extremely high resolution and am not able to import it. Any time I attempt to bring the image into Affinity, the app crashes. The document is 40800x52800px (yes, it's overkill... I know, but I'm working on a very detail oriented project and need to start with the highest resolution possible). The funny thing is, I can create a new document at the same resolution and Affinity doesn't break a sweat. I'm not sure if this is something that can be fixed or not or if I am doing something incorrectly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  12. When I open a PDF document, the dialog box asks me if I want load a given page, instead all the document. If I set there a page number different than page 1, the import will always get page 1 only.
  13. I'm using Affinity 1.4.2 on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) with Yosemite 10.10.5, 4 GB of RAM. When I open the attached raw file (created by the camera Panasonic DMC-TZ70) in Affinity Photo the image have lens distorsions (the distorsions look almost like the edges of the photo lens on the camera). See the RAW file (a zip file) and the exported JPEG image from Affinity (when the image is distorted and when it's not), compared to the exported JPEG image from Photos (v1.01), attached to this post. The above happens quite often even though the RAW Engine: Apple (Core Image RAW) has been selected in Affinity Photo. When I have the RAW file opened in Photos, and then open the same RAW file in Affinity Photo, the image has been corrected the same way as in Photos when the RAW Engine: Apple (Core Image RAW) is active when opening the RAW file in Affinity Photo. This lens correction is not applied when using the RAW Engine: Serif Labs; the image is not cropped and the dimensions of the image (in pixels) are larger. Is there a bug in Affinity Photo 1.4.2 when using the RAW import/engines? I know that the RAW image file is cropped automatically by Photos (and also by Preview) so that the lens distorsion is removed. The same correction is made in DxO OpticsPro 11 Elite - Trial version for this RAW file. Thanks in advance :) RAW_File.zip
  14. Something that's been bugging me for a while now. I have no control how a file is placed into a document on either of the apps. The imported file just sticks to the mouse pointer and I have to manually place it. That just steals time away from work as it piles up. I'd rather have a way to just import a bunch of images in one go (without using stacks, that just adds a different workaround). Especially now that we have 32-Bit EXR and AP can now be used as a stills compositing tool as well to combine multiple render passes. It'd also be good to set an option where to place the imported image. For photo bashing / matte painting for example it's helpful to import a bunch of images and have them show up on the canvas without overlap, like a gallery, so work can being right away with less moving things around. For standard compositing tasks a top left pin… and so on. For showcases it's often useful to just place things side by side. So a way to just say, n on x-axis with distance (xx cm) would save a ton of repetitive tasks. In terms of UI this could be solved with a few standard options to click on and an advanced option that have saveable presets. But most important to me is the automated import of many images to x=0, y=0.
  15. I have file that was made in (of course) illustrator with some graphics. When I open in AD, they are literally slices with Curves adjustments - Open in Illustrator and click the graphics I want copy for pasting in AP and after a couple clicks, I can Select the group of graphics. Anyways. Thoughts? Also last thing. Here is what Illustrate says about slices when I open the EPS in Illi.
  16. Hello, I purchased Affinity recently and trying to do some work now. I tried to place an image but the app crashes. I tried to copy/paste, drag to dock icon etc. but it keeps crashing no matter what I do. Running on Mac OSX Version 10.11.5 (15F34)
  17. The attached graphic was created in Adobe Illustrator with multiple artboards. When opened in Illustrator each panel has its own artboard which is fitted to the size of the panel. When you open in Affinity Designer for Windows the first artboard is very large while the other artboards are correctly sized. applied-products-future-applications.ai
  18. These issues were reported before by Mac users. Please try to import the following three filed I attached. They should be loaded as follows ( Photoline correctly imports these). These three sample SVG files demonstrate various SVG import issues in Affinity Designer. The first issue was identified over a year ago, I believe, and I was hoping it would have been solved by now. Photoline had the identical import issues, but these were corrected within a couple of weeks after reporting. I hope the Affinity team is as quick on the uptake :-) svg_import_files.zip
  19. I have been trying to open my .PSD files but my text layers are been converted to Pixels and my Smart Objects (.psb) too. I tried to create a new PSD and make two types of text: paragraph and point, but twice are covnerted to Pixels and I can't edit. If have some configuration to do to import correct I missed that, altough if not is a bug. Untitled-1.psd
  20. We have a user that is using Affinity 2.01.0132 and they deleted their Internet Explorer cache; which deleted their configuration. (This configuration allowed Affinity to choose a default folder location within the Laserfiche ECM application) Now under "GENERAL OPTIONS" their Configuration Location is set to "Local- For my profile only"; and the "Global" option is grayed out. I am wanting to switch the user to the "Global" configuration option so that I can use another known good users Affinity Profile. Also, how do I copy another users Affinity profile into this users configuration. Do I export and then import an XML file? If I can import another users Affinity configuration profile I think this will allow the user have the same settings as they did before they deleted their IE cache, along with their Affinity profile. Thanks,
  21. Hi considering there is still a lot of people working with Adobe Illustrator maybe it could be useful to get an Ai import, so we could collaborate with other designers. Also it could be cool to get a .tga format export, it is a format pretty popular in video games for example. Thank You and keep up the good work! Like I said in my other resquests, if Affinity Designer can be as good as you say for UX/Ui design, concept art and UV unwrap for 3D models textures and colors than i'm all in.
  22. When I copy arrows I have created in one AD doc and paste them into another AD doc their size is greatly reduced. A group of arrows which was 3941.7 x 4642.7 became 708.5 x 835.7. Each arrow has a shaft and an arrowhead grouped, each grouped under its own layer. I have tried one arrow at a time (shaft and arrowhead) and the result is the same, a greatly reduced shaft and arrowhead. If I cut and paste within the same AD doc there is not problem. The copy is pasted exactly where it was and it is the same size. I can link the x and y and resize the objects to the correct size, but wonder why this is happening. Any ideas?
  23. Hello, When I place a screenshot PNG image directly onto my canvas, the colours are completely warped as if there is a filter on it (e.g. greens turn blue, reds turn brown, blue turns pink). I have got around this, by importing the PNG image into Photoshop, exporting it as a PNG file, then re-importing/placing it into Affinity Designer. Thank you for any thoughts on the matter. Affinity 1.4.1 OSX 10.11.5
  24. Hi, I tried to import a brush set of file type .abr, let's say it's called 'brushes123.abr'. It says it is successfully imported But when I try to pick the brush set from the drop down menu in the 'brushes' window, it does not appear. I've tried it again and it says: 'successfully imported 'brushes123 2', which leads me to believe it did originally import, I just can't find it. Can you help? Thanks in advance
  25. I was an Aperture user and now use Adobe Lightroom. Adobe Lr imported all the work I did in Aperture. Can I now import these raw files into Affinity? If yes, where are they stored? I could not find any information regarding file infrastructure in Affinity. Finally, is there a tutorial discussing photo file management in this apparently excellent photo application?
