  1. While selecting multiple images placed on different pages of a project, app crashes Asus laptop with core i7 4700, 16 Gb RAM, nvidia GTX860M graphics Affinity publisher 1.7.0.376 Beta
  2. Hey everyone! When opening Document, Resource Manager, selecting all files and setting them to linked, my document will still be at 109,3MB file size. In fact, before linking the unlinked images, the file had 108MB. So linking even increases file size by a small amount. The Resource Manager will show them as linked and Publisher will report errors when renaming a file. It just doesn't decrease file size. And even when Publisher cannot fint a file, it is still being displayed, instead of an error frame, which I would expect. Is this a known issue? It seems it shouldn't be since there is a tutorial on the website for this. I am using High Sierra. Best wishes, Shu
  3. I have problems with the size you get once you prepare a document with images. A ten-page document with images at 300dpi weighs over 180MB, yet the same document in InDesign weighs only 6MB. In both cases the images were linked, but AFPUB seems to include a copy inside the document as well (I'm not embedding). The big question, however, will AFPUB be useful for professional graphic designers to create magazines, catalogues, artbooks, etc., especially when using hi-res images inside (not lo-res web images)? If such is the case, here are a couple issues that need considering: 1. Linking images make the file too heavy. Consider the example I gave above, and then think of an 88 or more pages magazine/book, etc. 2. Not being able to import into a single document other documents prepared separately. Also, although I haven't figured it out yet, can you design a cover, a squarebound one, including the spine? Couldn't find any indication when creating a new document. Seems everythings is for what goes inside and not what covers it.
  4. Just started playing with Publisher and it is looking impressive. I will be using quite a few images and have added border and shadow styles, so created a new style and applied to images as I go but now want to change the style on all that styles images, I can't see any way of doing this. Is it possible or is this one for the wish list ? Thanks Mike
  5. Hi, Working on a document converted from PDF, I had some images cause a freeze any time I applied a text wrap to them. Also, I made bulleted lists using a character style on the bullet, with different font, size, color and baseline. The character style doesn't update automatically and the bullet baseline jumps erratically high, like 20 pt when it should be -3-ish. BTW, I managed to get Finnish hyphenation working on a semi-decent level using the attached Public Domain library. The library makes Publisher crash as is, but when you remove the first charset line, it works just fine. The library is not perfect, but it's a good start. Should you be able to tap into the OS X library, that would be just smooth too, but I understand it's not as simple as one would like to think . Sorry to include multiple topics in one post, bit of in a hurry here and wanted to contribute… Asukkaan_opas_01_2019.afpub fi_FI.zip
  6. Wondering about a procedure for adding captions in an illustrated text piece (not a brochure). Text presumably to be created by linked text frames in a facing-pages document. It is a continued, relatively long story. I want to add a number of captioned illustrations laid out within this text. How do I add captions, some of which might be lengthy? In separate text frames? Does this break the original text frame linkages? Can a caption be grouped or linked with the image so that when or if the image is moved, the caption goes with it? I want to use a different text style to differentiate caption text from body text. How can I dynamically number captions so that I can create a Table of Figures or Table of Charts or Table of Maps that includes Figure #, Chart #, Map # with its title in addition to a TOC?
  7. not Let me join the list of complaints about the inability to center an image when printing in Affinity. I have used both the direct print mode as well as the soft proofing method but to no avail. The images are always skewed to one side. I agree that this is an important issue if Affinity intends to replace Photoshop as a significant image post processor. This is not a "printer" issue. I have the Canon Pixma Pro 10 and when I print the same image using Photoshop controls, it is well centered. I am very interested in shifting entirely to Affinity but, so far, I remain hesitant because of this serious problem. Affinity should consider making Canon Print Studio Pro available as a good solution. I have tried but learned that Affinity is not compatible with Print Studio Pro. I sincerely hope that this issue can be resolved soon. From what I read it has lingered on for quite some time and has not been resolved with the newest upgrade which I am using.
  8. Hi, I've found the handy resize image tool slider in Publisher - double click the image. But is there a way to check the resolution of the expanded image so that it's still, say, above 300 dpi for printing? Cheers for any pointers on this
  9. not sure if this has already been suggest.... Would be very useful to have a right click on image or button in resource manager, that allows you to go to image in finder without cutting and pasting image reference. I use this all the time on indesign.
  10. Still frustrated that the place images panel disappears when another tool is selected, and unplaced pics have to be reloaded. Is anyone else finding that this slows down their workflow?
  11. Hey everyone! I have a lot of files (right now, 128, but there will be a lot more) from Procreate that need minor editing. I would like to save all .pngs flattened and close all files at once, since at the moment, this takes just about the amount of time that I need for actual editing. It would be great if there was a way to save multiple files in the same manner (for example, flattened) and (or) close them with discarding any unsaved changes. Best wishes, Shu
  12. When placing images onto the page they stay embedded even though they claim to be linked in the control panel. The control panels states 'linked' whilst the layer says 'embedded; therefore not able to add to a library. See snapshot below:
  13. Hi! Is it possible or could it be made possible to toggle "show image borders"? As of now you have to select the image to show the border but for layout purposes it would be nice to skim though the document and see that everything is nicely lined up without having to select everything. Best regards. Ejnar
  14. This is probably in the wrong place - but it's sort of a bug tho.... Doing a simple file to get used to APub. Long time Quark and Indesign user. 1. Placing an image? At first it appears that the images were imbedded. Then APub asked if I wanted to link them instead - to help with file size. I said yes. Now it's missing an image that I have no idea where it is. The names seems to have been changed. Also I'm not finding a window to list all of the placed images- so I can select them, find them or edit them. Possibly the layers file serves that purpose, but how do I find the missing image? 2. Placing an image. I'm used to the images always being linked and that seems to be the best idea especially if multiple files will be using the same linked images. Please make that a default or choice at the time of import. 3. Editing a placed/linked image - will that be coming when the apps Photo & Designer are updated? I don't see a way to open the linked images from inside APub. --- OK I see the Edit Document now. Which is great but the Document is imbedded. 4. How do I chose to make APub link to images instead of imbedding them? It shows that images and Affinity files are imbedded by default. Thanks!
  15. Hi, I'm working on Windows10 Pro and I simply cannot open any image file in Affinity Photo (current version, German). Nothing happens but the cooler gets louder sometimes. This happens since, I think, version 1.6x. All former versions worked well... very strange... any idea? Thank you!! Joerg
  16. Hey everyone! Unfortunately I couldn't find a comment about this question. If there is already a topic, please refer to it. What about other suppliers of stock photos? In all applications there is already the palette called "Stock". Among it you can see a drop-list, but it only contains one item/supplier which is Shutterstock. Are there plans to add more picture agencies, maybe some creative commons like Unsplash as well? Or will the community have the possibility to edit the list itself at some point? <- That would actually be awesome. Is it possible to express wishes as to which agencies should be available for selection? Regards MrDoodlezz
  17. Downloaded Publisher Beta and had a first play with it. Very impressed so far. I have one initial suggestion which I think would help workflow and should be easy to fix. When opening multiple images for placement they are temporarily placed in new 'Place Images' panel next to the Pages and Assets tabs. As soon as an image is selected and placed it disappears from this panel and when a new action is selected the remaining images are removed and the panel disappears. It would be useful to leave all imported images in the Place Images panel permanently, for use throughout the document, until manually deleted when no longer required.
  18. Hello, just tried the beta and I noticed that a feature is missing: automatica caption numbering. Ok, it's very easy to create a paragraph syle and apply a"Bullets and numbering" style, but when we deal with large documents (books, for example) the numbering should be autoarranged from top to bottom. Please, see the image attached for a visual explanation. What do you think about?
  19. Hey everyone! I just recently obtained AD, and I am completely new to any graphic designer software. I have been using AP for the past couples year though. My question is, how do a enlarge an EPS file and export. When I attempted to do this on my own the canvas does not expand with the image(See screen shot). Any help is appreciated!
  20. Is it an idea to add a button or a checkbox that remembers the exportsettings. I will give an example. My original document is 1200x800 pixels. When i do an export to, let's say 300 pixels. Then i have to change the settings with every export to the desired 300 pixels. If i could 'freeze' the setting, then i would make a no errors on export. I would love it. So my original material is due no harm, but my exports are all te same with the frozen settings. If i uncheck it. Then the situation is normal. I use it to make a order of more frames with litle changes. And know i have to change the export settin every time. Perhaps more people would like it. Thanks.
  21. Hi, My I pad pro 10.5 is going to be full. And I know finally why. in the affinity app they save the files on the front page. I must delete them one by one. I have hundreds of them in it. so thats take me days when all of it is gone. I hope I have explained it well, and hope if you guys have an solution for it to delete it all in one time. thank you! Gladys
  22. Hi, I would love to see an option to optimise Affinity Designer’s files. What I have in mind is a way, once you have finished your composition to reduce the image size to match their use. You would need a few options to reduce the file without losing actual useful data. Depending on what you need you can define that the file images need to be downsized to 1x or 2x, that the images should be cropped to their visible portion or left to their full size, etc. I think this would be really helpful to avoid archiving huge files when you have a mostly vector file but with a few cropped images.
  23. What I'm wondering is if I create a macro that adds a bitmap texture will that texture be exported in the macro if I export it?
  24. What lossless compressed images you use in affinity, PNG or TIFF?
  25. Hi Support, Some Bugs for you, I place an image for a new project: 1). Although when still holding the left mouse button th image shows, after trying to place it in position on the page, all I get is a small square of it in the top left hand corner and the bounding box is showing the full size image even though there is nothing in there. Plus the bounding box doesn't go away. I tried repairing the Update by turning off my Firewall and the Internet but it still doesn't work. Any idea what is causing this and when is it likely to be fixed ?
