After near 2 months resting, I am going to paint again, and I am learning how to draw with Affinity and Wacom, it's cool. I was wondering if there is a autodesk sketchbook pro like Glow-Brush or glow brush/glow effect available for Affinity Designer? I would love to not have to jump between apps, for at least this reason. I need sketchbook pro like glow brushes in Affinity Designer, because the "outer glow" option under the "Effects" tab in Affinity Designer doesn't create the same type of reflective glow off of skin, that an artist can get in sketchbook pro with the glow-brush & glow effect tab. If there are glow brushes of the same or better quality, I need to know. Thank you so much.

Here's a recent fun personal iso piece done in Designer. Anyone who grew up in the 70's will be familiar with these 2 crime fighters. Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) and Danny "Danno" Williams (James MacArthur) from the original Hawaii Five-0 TV series from 1968-1980. "Book'em Danno" was McGarrett's signature catch phrase as well as his trademark hair wave. Shown here is the original 68 Mercury.

affinity designer My first illustration using Designer

Hi, I've been using the forum for a while now and recently have commented on a few peoples work so thought it only fair I should have something to show for myself. So this is my first attempt using Designer. It's very incomplete. There are more characters being worked on (I've switched their visibility off) and a lot of things haven't been finished like the house, tree, grass and the cloud splash where the rainbow fish is meant to be entering the cloud. Pretty much most things are unfinished but it's taking time as my Mac is struggling to cope with the scale of the image now. It's for a children's book I'm working on. It's entirely done with vector, no brushes, no pixels. And also completely done using a mouse as trying to draw anything with my Wacom tablet results in the line taking about a minute to catch up with what I've drawn. Also It's only a portion of the image, the original extends both up and down. As it's so large I've added some sections of the image as well. Apologies for the essay.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have been on the forum a few times and looked around and decided to make the leap and join. A bit about me. I'm a mother of three children plus three cats. I've never used a vector program before but I have always loved looking at vector art. It fascinates me. I used to draw and paint a tiny bit when I was a young girl but haven't used that creative side for so many years. On my birthday 2019, I decided it was time I fulfilled that creative side of me and asked my children for Affinity Designer for my present. They were kind of like, what the hell, hahahaha. I had researched vector programs and Illustrator seemed to be the most popular. The ongoing cost was way out of what I can afford and I got sad at the thought I couldn't really do what I imagined. I researched further and came across Serifs products. They looked and sounded amazing. I read reviews which were great. I came on the forum and saw the passionate community. Yes, there were lots of issues brought up about designer but for the cost I thought I would give it a try. I am so happy I did. It has been a huge learning curve. I'm such a newbie at digital art. I'm watching videos and reading all the online tuts I can. I'm writing down all my experiments with the vector side of designer and would be happy to share them if there are any other newbies here. We can learn together.

Hey everyone. This is a piece I finished recently in Affinity Designer. I wanted to create the look and feel of 70s retro scifi illustrations and at the same time I wanted to stay 100% vector. No traces, no bitmaps, no pixel layers. Critique, opinions and questions welcome :D

Hi, I've recently switched over from Adobe Flash to Affinity D. And I'm really digging the whole experience so far . Before doing iso stuff in Fash was a real chore. But with AD's speedy zooms and new isometric tool it's so much easier and faster (plus all the lines are clean!). Here's a few icons I've been working on in case anyone might be interested. I was to do something that I assume is straightforward—create a new node precisely at the intersection of the two curves (see screenshot). I can’t figure out how to achieve this, is it possible?

This might be a stupid question, but then again I was taught that there are no stupid questions... So, I am teaching myself illustrating. I have started to do so in Affinity Designer, but lately I've come across multiple artists using Affinity Photo for it and I just don't understand why/ how?!? Isn't Photo just for photo editing? How does one do illustration work in it? Is it better for that purpose than Designer? Can someone please enlighten me? Thanks in advance. -
Affinity community, I currently use your vector program and I have had performance problems, that is, it is constantly in a state of shock and sometimes it closes completely, it bothers me a bit. I use Windows and the specifications of my computer are not bad; 16 GB of RAM, Nvidia graphics, disc SSD, so my only conclusion is that the root problem with the software. I would love to know how I can resolve or if there will be updates to correct soon. -
It's just a small bird (Kohlmeise, Great tit), but he has made me a little nervous. So many layers I had previously only in some large portrait illustrations. I thought so a bird is easy to draw, but he is not. Respect, little bird ;)

Greetings, I am having trouble snapping shapes to a curve. Is this possible? (In my screenshot, I am attempting to snap the rotated rectangle to the curve it’s close to, but can’t.)

I call this "Dream in a Bottle." Wanted to practice on surrealism, shading and lighting and get the feel of the new "edit in photo/designer" feature, passing back and forth between AD and AP. The feature is so nice but I did find a bonafide bug. After several passes back and forth between AD and AP, the files start to corrupt and the UI and the thumbnail windows of the layers panel start doing weird things like vector shapes turn into Text icons, etc. I can reproduce this problematic bug every time after about 5 or 6 bounces back and forth.
