  1. Hey all, here's a redo experiment of an illustration project I had a few years ago for an article about how "Successful People" manage their thoughts... The goal here was to revisit this illustration and try to only create it using a "pixel painting inside vector shapes" workflow in Designer for a new look. I'm really happy with the process and the outcome and plan to adopt it to a few more ideas I have on the drawing board. Trying to keep the process as simple as possible, I used only one brush for consistency and didn't employ any effects or multiply/screen layers for shading or highlighting. It's all painting. It was a lot of fun and surprisingly pretty quick. I like the background, but I also like it without.... Hope you like. Cheers, Kevin
  2. Hi, I created an illustration in Affinity and now when I am export it as a jpg the colours are coming out very dark than what I see in the workspace. Please see attached screenshot of workspace and the exported jpg. You will notice the colour are different in working file and the exported jpg. Why is it happening and how can I fix it? Also attached is the .afdesign file so you check. regards laborday.afdesign
  3. Hey, these are my first tries in Designer. Great software thought. Hope you enjoy. Cheers, Martin.
  4. I have downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer on my mac and seriously considering to replace Adobe Illustrator with AD. So far I have done some comic inking illustrations, a couple logo design and some coloured illustrations and I find the app amazing. I find Affinity Design the best App so far for inking purpose in vector. I have tried inking in illustrator, corel painter, Manga studio, photoshop. For raster I like Manga Studio but for vector AD is definitely the best. Though I miss some features of Adobe illustrator for example Auto trace, eye dropper tool, 3D extrude, blend tool to mention. Still Affinity Designer's price is so attractive that it lures an illustrator/designer like me living in India. I hope Affinity will come up with alternatives for premiere pro and after effects also. Thanks
  5. Latest project completed in Affinity.

  9. Hey folks – I created this illustration as a parody of a quasi-famous NY designer I recently saw. It was my first attempt with AD, and at using variable brush strokes / curves. I found the experience pretty straightforward, almost fun. I typically use illustrator for renderings like this but wanted to test out how AD worked since I had just purchased it recently. I think the only major challenge I had was that I didn't like that I couldn't use the eye-dropper on different colors to select the color. That part wasn't intuitive to me. After watching some youtube videos and some snippets on the site, I got the hang of it after a while. This is one in a series of character illustrations I'll be doing. His name is Tobison Vanderherd: Senior Design Strategist (for now anyway). I'm going to be fleshing out an entire agency based on endangered species because, after all, agencies are sort of dying out. Anyway, don't know how far I'll take it, but it's certainly fun getting familiar with the tool and experimenting. I'm eventually going to take the illustration into After Effects and try some puppeteering/ voiceover work to see how that holds up. I'll share my results if anyone's interested. Been enjoying watching what everyone has been posting and looking forward to seeing what other creations folks come up with. Thanks for your time and feedback, Anthony
  10. hello, I'm a beginner in affinity desinger, and want to draw some illustration by wacom. As the picture show, I have no idea how to make my circle perfect. Because when I want to close a circle, they usually cross badly. To improve, now I use node tool to make it better. Is there another solution about? Something like smooth tool in adobe illustrator. And I also can't find Eraser in Draw Persona, so I click white color and use it as Eraser, is it correct? thanks for help and any keywords!

  17. Hi All - I have just posted my class: “Get Better at Perspective Drawing: Beginning with the Basics - using Affinity Designer” on SkillShare.com. If you’re someone who has ever struggled with creating accurate perspective, or found it difficult to portray a strong sense of depth within your artwork, or have ever been bothered by the distorted shapes that often occur using standard perspective methods - I believe the insights, skills, and techniques shared in this class will be very helpful to you. This class doesn’t focus on the isometric perspective grid that’s already available in Affinity Designer. Instead, I take an in depth look at how draw in actual 3D perspective and explain how to translate real world measurements and distances into your drawings. That said, I take full advantage of the wonderful tools and features available within Affinity Designer to create efficient workflows while drawing in perspective. SkillShare provides me an option that allows the first 25 class enrollees to take the class for free using this link: http://skl.sh/22xKNoQ *Update: Sorry, the link above expired last week. Here's a new link with another 25 FREE enrollments: http://skl.sh/1UHyOPr *Update: Class link: http://skl.sh/1O2zp1G- The current offer is 3 months of Skillshare for 99 cents. The class is a little over two hours long and provides a solid foundation for drawing better in perspective. Thanks, Scott
  18. Okay so this is a test frame for a web comic I'm working on - the backgrounds are Cinema 4D, the character is Affinity Designer and the whole thing has been comped and adjusted in Affinity Photo. There will be a lot more of this, once I've got the environment nailed down.
  19. Here is concept art for a game for a client of mine. This is the exterior and interior of the same house. All work done with Affinity Photo. You can see more of these and some of my process on my Artstation profile.
  20. All vector done in Aff Designer. Lots of gradients - some soft vectors for highlights. One thing thats nice is the copy and paste ( command shift v) of an all ready created gradient into a new shape - you don't have to save it as a swatch - just paste into your new shape and adjust. Real time saver.
  21. Hello there! Just wanted to share my last work with Affinity Designer. This is part of a series of about 15 characters for a web comic called "We are the Freaks". We're still in the very initial phase of the project. Hope you dig :) as always, all kind of critique would be more than welcome.
  22. After several months of work, Frankentoon website is a reality now and this is the first published tutorial Beardly Morris the Pirate. You can expect the second one this very friday. At the moment the website feels a little bit "empty", 'cause I'm working simultaneously on several tasks to get it 100% complete (design tweaks, SEO, more sections, more information, social media maintenance, etc). As a welcome gift for all new subscribers, I've created a small free vector pack as a direct download delivered to your email. This first pack is already being expanded with more than 20 extra objects. People who's already in, will receive the update in a few days in their inboxes :) . I'm planning to release a free vector pack every 6 weeks. Here's a preview of the first one: Your feedback is very, very, very important at this initial stage, so if you have a couple of minutes to check this tutorial, I will be more than happy with your feedback, good and bad!. I'm specially looking forward to bad feedback in order to improve the site as more as I can, so you can have the best possible user experience in the future. If you have comments about the website, would be awesome too! (mobile version is expected to be done by this friday too, so if you browse this tutorial from a mobile device, would look a little bit weird). Hope you enjoy! :)
