  1. Been playing a bit with Affinity Photo and started messing with sky replacement or enhancement. This is a set of gradients created (mostly) from photographs to mimic interesting skies. Enjoy! Find this and more at https://dscape-llc.com/affinity
  2. It's the end of another year and that means time for some new Dream resources for Affinity. This is a collection of gradients designed to make circles look like spheres. Created by request. Find this and more at https://dscape-llc.com/affinity
  3. A request to add an option for cubic interpolation to AD's gradients.
  4. Hello. I would like to know how to add a gradient to make one picture fade away into another. At least, I think I need to do this by use of a gradient??
  5. Affinity Designer for Windows v1.5.0.5 I have tried to follow the Complex Gradients Tutorial pausing the video at every step and following it to the letter, however the gradient shown in the video cannot be achieved in the Windows version of Affinity Designer, unless I am doing something wrong. I have tried to replicate the video at least four times but each time I get the same results. There is just no gradual grading between the nodes. Attached is a screen shot of the finished result.
  6. After more than 18 months CTS is cured and tons of sketches have piled up. Happy to use Affinity again :)
  7. Is it possible to go back and, for example, re-position the handles of a gradient on a rasterized object without losing all of the adjustments, effects applied in the meantime?
  8. Just discovered Affinity as I'm searching for a more affordable option for my business than Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. All of the company computers are Apple Mac's and Affinity seems perfect. Currently I design our product labels using PS5. The background of the label is simply a single colour on both sides with white in the middle, but made using the gradient tool, so that it gives the appearance of wrapping around the container. I just can't figure out how to use the gradient tool in Affinity. Is there anyone who can kindly point me in the right direction please? I hope so, because I want to buy Affinity but need to be certain I can use it before I do.
  9. Hi all. Maybe this is too much to ask at this time, and I know I've already mentioned this earlier, but I've been testing Affinity Designer periodically for proper spot colour gradient support (sometimes I miss a beta or two and I may skip the one that finally brings that feature to the table, hence my method). I cobbled up two similar files in Affinity and Illustrator, with gradients from spot colour to spot colour, spot colour to white, and spot colour to 0% opacity spot colour, and exported them to .PDF. For good measure, I also threw in a 50% opacity spot colour as a control swatch. After opening both files on Acrobat Pro and checking the Output [separation] Preview, I was a bit disheartened to see that Affinity still supports flat spot colour transparency only, whereas gradients are all converted/flattened into CMYK. For now, I can accept this omission, and the fact that it may be due to technical limitations in Affinity's engine or something, but I'm obviously expecting much more from it in the future (and that may include Affinity Photo duo/multitone support too, perhaps?), especially for colour-critical work like in logos, where tight budgets for print production more often than not call for the use of spot colours (and, yes, that also includes spot colour gradients). Though this would be fairly easy to correct (especially for simpler artwork) via a small trip through Illustrator before sending my work to the printing shop, I would really love to ditch it altogether from my workflow, and this would be yet another proverbial nail in its coffin. Can you comment on the feasibility of such a feature and maybe give us a rough ETA? Thanks guys. Once again, kudos for your great work! Pantone test.afdesign Pantone Test-AD.pdf Pantone Test-AI.pdf
  10. Hi AD team, love the product - terrific! Here's my problem: I'm switching from adobe illustrator and would like to take the color swatches with me. CS5 even has an export option to export a given swatch to .ase which I could then import in AD. However, the gradient swatches ('Brights') are not exported with the gradient, just as base colors. Can anyone recommend how to move my AI gradient swatches out of AI into AD? Thanks so much!
  11. Coming from Illustrator, I am confused as to how to fine tune my gradients in Affinity Designer. In AD, it seems like I must use the Gradient Tool to create and edit my gradients. Is it true there is no precision editor in AD? In Illustrator, you select your gradient, then click Gradient in the toolbar at right, and you then have command of just about everything imaginable. But in AD, I must select my gradient, then switch to the Gradient tool, and then there is a line that appears over the gradient object, which allows me to change colors, add points, move a slider, etc. But editing on the object itself isn't always preferred. And often when I slide that slider, it snaps to points, even though I have snap disabled, preventing me from making precision edits. I figured out I can kill that snap by holding down the option key, but it's still not super precise to do it like that. In Illustrator, I can type in an exact percentage figure. No way to do that in AD from what I can see. Or is it just me? Am I missing something? It would seem only logical and intuitive that if I click on a gradient and then double-click on the round color circle in the "Color" tab at right that it should open up a precision gradient editor for me.
  12. Hi, I am beginning to understand how to use the Gradient Tool at this point but I am not clear as to the difference with the Gradient Map adjustment. When to use the later vs the former. It seems that the Gradient Map adjustment can be used to colorize an image (b&W or color) but what else can you do with it and when is it a better choice than the Gradient Tool. I have seen the 2 Affinity Photo videos on the Gradient Tool but there doesn't seem to be anything yet on the Gradient Map. Thanks!
  13. Hi, I really like affinity photo, I find it easier to us then photoshop but there are a few things I can'tseem to figure out. I am learning different techniques for editing black and white photos. It seems via youtube that in photoshop multiple gradients can be added to one mask. If I try to us the gradient tool on a mask on a selection that I have made in affinity I can only us 1 gradient. So if I wanted to have a gradient masking out an adjustment at the bottom and at the top I can't seem to do this, it just resets to the gradient that I just put down and I lose the previous one. If this makes sense to anyone, is there a way to add multiple gradients to 1 mask? cheers, Jason
  14. I seem to be getting strange unwanted noise is gradients when I use a global curves adjustment. I can't get rid of it, and I thought I mistakenly added it when you choose a color in the gradient editor but I didn't. How do I get rid of it? See attached. Now my curves adjustment is pretty extreme though. I guess you could say I am pushing the app to new boundaries!
  15. Is there not a way to duplicate a color stop in the live on-screen editor? Really would like to duplicate by dragging out a new duplicate color stop from others used.
  16. Just curious if anyone knew if gradient maps from PSD files are translating into AD/AP? I got a file that did not, the map color stops were actually at zero opacity and altogether wrong.
  17. When the Gradient Panel is open is there a tutorial or instructions on using it?
  18. First of all, sorry for my bad English. Second, thans to Serif for this wonderful software. Thanks for gradients, do this in illustrator is unthinkable, the file size of the filters by the speed of the program to work with much effect. Thank You. Soon I'll be posting more. I am listing all the pros and cons match against Illustrator to put them in a self review. The design is suit the client, I do different things;)
  19. Hi, allowing multiple gradients per curve would be awesome. Maybe also with a blending mode and general opacity settings. Matt
