  1. How do you create different grids in Affinity without doing things ridiculously hard? I'm not talking about the grid in the background. Yes, I know the hard way of doing it, but there's got to be a much easier way. I like to make a grid and then use a combine tool, which I guess is "Shape builder tool" in Affinity, to make logos. I attached a picture of some of the different grid types if you don't know what I'm talking about. How about an easier way to make/have Fibonacci squares/spiral/Circles aka golden ration squares/spiral/Circles? Anyone know how to do that in the least painful possible way? If you know a process let me know and if you know a process on the iPad app too (if it's different) on how to do it there too. Thanks everyone! _____________________________________________________ My computer specs if needed. 2. Hello everyone, This is my subjective list of missing tools I would like to see in upcoming updates. It will definatly speed up my workflow, right now I have to find a workaround, which sometimes is frustrating 😞 BTW: What is your missing feature ?
  3. Please could you add golden ratio grid overlay into crop tool? I think it's much more useful than snail and thirds are... just thirds (somewhere on the photography blog was kind of discussion if artists really use that.)) Thanks a lot! Seems I have to switch into other software just to crop my pic (if i don't miss something).
  4. I was asked to reproduce a geometric quilt pattern in Affinity Designer by someone who wasn’t sure where to start. This tutorial is 1 hour and 20 minutes long. It says it’s longer, but that’s because I forgot to delete some clips at the end. I’ll get round to fixing that later. The pattern is made up of pentagons and pentagrams, and consequently correlates well with the golden ratio. If you are having problems with creating geometric patterns in Affinity a Designer, this tutorial explains how some of these problems come about, and how best to resolve (well - work with) them. Here is the link to the tutorial on Vimeo.

  7. Designed to help you create balanced asymmetric designs and patterns, the third class in the Golden Ratio series has just been released on Skillshare. Note: Permission to use the Affinity Designer logo has been obtained. Premium Link: If you already have a Skillshare Premium account, use this link: skl.sh/2D0QUPx If you want to sign up to Skillshare Premium to watch any class, use the same link skl.sh/2D0QUPx. At the time of writing, sign up and receive the first two months membership free. Cancel any time during the first two months. Free Link: Alternatively, the first ten people to use the following link will have free access to this class: skl.sh/2SrPnX1 Note: This free-access link is set to expire at the end of November 2018. With an Affinity Designer file and examples included with the class, you can get up to speed with the golden ratio and learn how easy it is to introduce a sense of harmony and cohesion to your work; no matter how simple or complex. Learning to apply the golden ratio to your work couldn’t be easier. The class is 33 minutes in duration and an Affinity Designer template file is included. To make the creation of these patterns easy, we will be exploring Affinity Designer’s Donut and Pie tools. We will also play around with the Cog tool; one of Affinity Designer's parametric shapes. The cog tool is so versatile, you’ll be wondering why you haven’t been using it. So Now There are Three Want to know more about how you can make the most of the golden ratio, check out all three classes: – Asymmetrical Drawing & Lettering with the Golden Ratio skl.sh/2JZ4h2Y – Create a Vintage Style Logo from Concentric Circles and the Golden Ratio skl.sh/2P7B08J – Concentric Radial Patterns & Infographics with the Golden Ratio skl.sh/2D0QUPx Note: All three classes feature Affinity Designer.
  8. I've looked through the forums for existing questions on the shape builder tool and it seem like it's yet to be implemented. I'm stuck on building something and I'll like a help with the best approach to go about it in affinity designer. The red circles in the attached image indicate parts that I want to subtract from the thick black circles. But unlike regular subtraction, I don't want those ends taking the shape of the subtracted shape. I want something like the behavior of shape builder where I completely erase those red circle areas
  9. Hi! Does anyone know how to create a Phi Grid (based on the Golden Ratio) overlay in Affinity Photo? (The Golden Ratio is divides the frame into sections resulting in a grid that is 1:0.618:1). I want to use that overlay for composition and cropping. I know we already have a Golden Spiral, but I like the Phi Grid for landscapes and other types of images. For more basic info on the Golden Ratio you can check this article, specifically for photography: https://www.apogeephoto.com/how-to-use-the-golden-ratio-to-improve-your-photography/ Thanks!
  10. My latest class on designing a vintage style logo with concentric circles and the golden ratio is now on Skillshare. All the examples presented in this class were drawn in Affinity Designer. For the first two days, this class will be free or until the class reaches 20 students whichever comes first. You may need to set yourself up with a free Skillshare account in order to see all the lessons. Here is the link: https://skl.sh/2P7B08J
