Since Adobe has went to subscription payment on all thei software like Microsoft. I have been looking for compatible replacements. My main use for Photoshop is not editing and enhancing photos but to create headlines and save as pngs for use in other programs. I also use actions to create mock ups that create CD covers, magazine cover looks etc. I also would like to be able to use and modify the headline files I currently have which are in PSD for,at. How much of this will Affinity do? I am also looking for an Indesign replacement. I have never liked renting software. I current use CS6 on my Macintosh and don't want to be forced to CC one day. Hi, my personal circumstances have changed drastically and I am probably going to have to freelance from home. I already own Photo and Designer so it would be logical to buy Publisher. Is there a date for launch yet, please? And will the app be able to open .indd files? Best wishes W

AP. I'm currently in the process of designing book covers for a clients project. 13 in total and then some. I've just finalised the first 3 but the printing company have come back asking for a file indicating where all the gold is to be printed (gold text and some gold frames on the covers). I'm assuming they are actually printing gold foil like you see on fancy wedding invitations. I have absolutely no idea what they are asking for here. I have tried a quick lmgtfy but it came up with nothing of much help (its a difficult question to pose to google). Has anyone had any experience with printing gold foil on any sort of project who may be able to shed some light on what the printer company are requesting? As of yet, I am only in talks with the client and have no direct conversation with the printers. Plus, to exacerbate things, my client is Norwegian so comms is difficult as it is. Any help much appreciated.

Hello, I need some help regarding blend modes. So, I applied gold foil to an invitation design using "lighten" because that produced the most desirable results. However, it applies the effect to all the layers underneath. Is there a way to restrict where the blend mode is applied? I tried using a different method like "paste inside" and it did not produce desirable results. I only want the outlines gold, not the inside of the shapes/texts. I attached an example of what I'm working on. You can see that I've applied the gold to the outlines using the Lighten mode. Is there a better way? I am a newbie to graphic design and really need help. Any suggestions or tutorials would be appreciated! Thanks!
