  1. Hi! so I started working on an illustration as first serious project in A designer. Thrilled! After trying out different brush settings I finally found what I was after. After tracing a bit the app started laffing and froze. The feel and quality is awesome and I hope there is a way around this. My settings were with pressure and it happens with stabilizer on. Is there any fix for this? greetz, c
  2. I have a large document with several artboards. I discovered that whenever I add a Frame text and it starts to calculate/view the snapping points, it completely freezes and I have to restart the application. This might be caused by the size of the document. Not really sure. I've tried creating new a document, but I can't replicate it. This is a major issues since I now can't create new text areas for this scale project. EDIT: I've cleaned the document from 2-3 artboards, reducing the load on the document. Crashes are gone. But this should be looked into, we should be able to work in large files w/o crashing. Still, crashes/freeze only happened with Frame text tool. EDIT2: From a user in a Facebook group having similar issues with snapping. He's using MAC (I use Windows). So this is not OS specific.
  3. Hi, i added the new NiK collection by DXO to my affinity and it's not working, it keeps loading with no progress till i force shutdown affinity. Is there any solution for that matter? i followed the steps in the below link for adding it https://youtu.be/D7kRQTMI1Nw
  4. Designer upgrade had become useless to me because of very frequent freezes. I thought it might be due to tracing over halftones, but freezes continued even in simplest files. Usually it was possible to regain control over the computer after time past or by clicking on the task manager tab below. I never found any relief until downloading downloading and installing the 1.6.5.112 Beta version which I installed separately to my regular Designer. The Beta solved all of my problems which apparently were caused by a bug that appears when using a drawing tablet. I hope that anyone else searching for a solution can find this solution since having a working Affinity Designer is becoming very important to many of us.
  5. I also find Affinity Photo unstable, I have the trial and I've had it hang and crash on me a few times, one time I lost hours of work (my own fault) just by hitting the tone mapping. Another time I used a filter and it hung and then crashed. I7 7700k 16GB Ram EVGA GTX1070 FTW SSD

    Move Tool freeze

I'm in the habit (since many years) of using the space bar when I pan or move around the image. But in Affinity Designer the screen freezes and the little hand-symbol stays in a ”closed-fist mode”. If I try some additional clicking the whole software crashes and it even closes down the Mac OS and I'm brought back to the login window of Mac OS X star-up. My hope and wish is that this bug is removed at the next upgrade. I'm on a Mac Pro, Quad-core Xeon, 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC, ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB, Mac OS X 10.10.5 on a Kingston SSD 256 Gb (on PCI-express card), additional 10 Tb of internal storage on 5 SATA bays, original Apple USB keyboard and Magic Mouse is used. Thanks /yeshe
  7. Hello, I have been experiencing a problem that has pretty much rendered Designer unusable. All aspect of the program work correctly except that Designer now freezes ( Beachball of doom ) when clicking on font dropdown. None of the fonts have a chance to display, by clicking on that field Designers freezes on focus. I have installed no new fonts nor have I made any changes to my Mac Pro. Any advice would be helpful. I have a deadline tomorrow and I don't want to have to start over in illustrator. Thank you! Jordan www.insidejobfilms.com
  8. Affinity Photo is nearly unusable for me due to a major bug that is somehow related to a task in Task Manager called Usermode Font Driver Host. My system is quite adequately fast for all other tasks, but as soon as I open Affinity Photo, the task mentioned bloats up to 30% to 40% of CPU capacity. It might as well be 100% or 300% because the entire computer is frozen to death. Can't use any other program, and Affinity does not respond in the slightest. It takes several minutes just to open the Task Manager in order to kill Affinity. If I wait quite a long time, the font task seems to settle down a bit. It's clearly related to Affinity though because as soon as I am able to kill Affinity, the font task immediately goes back down to zero CPU (or just goes away), and my computer becomes usable again. In addition, I didn't have this problem at all on my computer until Affinity was installed, so it must be related. I also saw another topic on this forum related to this task, and the author of that post also mentioned Affinity Photo. There were tons of responses, but the topic was eventually closed, so I couldn't post a "me too" reply there. If this continues and there isn't a patch or settings fix for it, I'll have to ask for a refund because the software is completely unusable. It's sad because otherwise I see the software as being quite formidable and fun to use (though it could use a bunch more features and minor fixes - which I can see the development team is fairly quick to implement or at least add to a coming soon list) For the record, I'm a long time user of Serif software. I own nearly all the previous "Plus" titles, and some years ago I was very active on the forums, Flickr group, and I even beta tested a number of titles. I was excited to see Affinity get so much press... I'll be disappointed if I have to let it go in favor of other more stable apps.
  9. Hi all: Sorry for my bad english.. I'm a registered user of both apps. But in the last update, i can't install them.. The install process is freeze. I can view it in the task manager ( as 32 bits apps), but nothing happens. But i can't install the previous versions. Can someone help me, please? Thanks a lot. Greets form Valencia Eduardo
  10. When using Affinity Designer (latest macOS - Affinity Designer v1.6.1) As soon as I go to pick fonts to change fonts or add fonts the program freezes (edit: not crash, freeze). So I can't change any fonts. The font selection works fine in Sketch, AdobeCS6 Photoshop etc.
  11. Hello, I recently downloaded the trial versions of Affinity Photo and Design. I really love your apps but I've noticed a problem. In both apps when I try to edit text, they freeze for a while. Sometimes they even crush and close. Also when I type letters appear really slow. I work on Windows 7 64bit. Thank you in advance
  12. Hi, I would like to ask if there is an easy way to alternate between the Freeze and Thaw tools on the liquify persona. If there isn't, I would like to suggest the use of the "ALT" key for that purpose. Also I noticed that on the Liquify Persona's tool bar, there are the primary and secondary color pickers, and I wonder, what is the purpose of that? thanks and keep up with the terrific work! Gustavo
  13. I've updates my affinity photo two days ago and it keeps on freezing, lagging and has become super slow. I hope the issue will be fixed soon. Thank u for your hard work Leeyhan

    Crashing and freezing

I’ve had to abandon my current projects on my iPad Pro 2017 since the app has become progressively worse. I can’t merge layers or adjustments without the app crashing or freezing. When I try to export a file in jpeg, tif to my iPad photos the app crashes. I can export to my flash drive from which I can then upload to the photos section in a workaround move, hassle. I’m updated on iOS. I’ve re-installed the app twice, no luck fixing the problem. My iPad is fully loaded with ram and storage. I love this app but am now stalled in my tracks. Help!!!
  15. All, While using Selections the I run into multiple problems which occur after initial selection. 1. Trying to drag around the canvas to refine the selection by using the any of the Selections tools and the "marching ants line" disappears and the program will either crash or act like no selection was made. Sometimes panning around the canvas will bring things back but it is hit-or-miss. 2. After refining selection to mask, New Layer with mask or New Layer the a haze appears on the mask layer. This looks like a blur has been applied with streaks all over the canvas. 3.Cannot make selection without first creating a New Pixel Later. The Selections acts as if there is no information to select until the pixel layer is created and then the layer to make selections out of is chosen. Again another hit-or-miss issue. 4. After trying to add an adjustment layer to a mask, Photo will crash and when I re-open the program the adjustment has been applied in a checker board pattern on the mask and I am unable to undo without again crashing. At this point I have to start the workflow over for any meaningful recovery. The Selections problems make this program so unstable that I cannot use it for any work on the go. I do use the desktop version on MacOS but the point of having it on my iPad is to have the flexibility to create anywhere.
  16. High Sierra:10.13 (17A405) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 16Gb Affinity: 1.5.5 This happens seemingly randomly and sadly I can't find a reason for it. Some Affinity projects will freeze the app with the beachball when you go to export slices. It only happens if the slices contain a @2x scale factor and a Force Quit is required when this happens. I would attach a crash report but sadly there are none from Affinity in my logs folder yet. I'm seeing this quite often with several different new Affinity projects since High Sierra was installed on my machine.
  17. I usually found this bug for a while. From my file, Let's try to align it to center of the canvas then you will see the bug. Cheers. 2pt_Align_bug.afdesign
  18. Hi Team, I am having an issue with merging vectors. I am trying to create a grunge layer wich only consists of one big vector. The problem is: While merging the small vectors together, at a certain point the merging process doesn't come to an end. Affinity cannot be used any more at that point. I have to hard quit. Maybe there are too many dots for Affinity Designer. Is there a solution for that? Thanks Tim
  19. In Affinity Designer 1.5.3.69, when dragging either the start or end handle of the text path in the attached file, while holding the CTRL key, the application slows down significantly and ultimately becomes unresponsive. TextPathBug.afdesign Edit: I mean these orange handles which define the text's range:
  20. When you're in the Liquify Persona, it would be very cool (pardon the pun) if you could keep the freezing tool within the bounds of your current selection. See attached.
  21. Hi all, I was wondering why every time I start Designer or Photo and I already see the interface, they stop working for different seconds, I see the mouse pointer spinning and then everything works flawlessly. It's not a major complaint, but it's a bit annoying every time I open them to experience such a freeze. Is there something I can do to avoid this? I am on Windows 10 Pro, i7 3370, 16 GB of ram and GTX 1060. I don't think it's a hardware issue. Thanks Nazzareno

  23. I use Designer for personal projects on Mac without any issues and Designer at work on a 2 month old, Windows 10 PC. The PC has 8 gb RAM and an Intel Core i5 @ 3.20GHz. A task I have to perform at least 3 times a week in drawing shapes on top of a placed bitmap image. The images is already compressed and usually aprox 30 to 50 mb itself. After I place the image, every action causes Designer to freeze or run incredibly slow. The Designer files end up in the 200 to 350 mb range. I'm trying to find out if the freezing and lag is a product of my PC or Designer. Any ideas? Also, why is the Designer file size so incredibly large?
  24. recently affinity photo version 1.5.1.54 has trouble opening an image. Sometimes there is a message and closes on it's own, other times it just does not load the image for an indefinite time. After a long period use task manager to end program. I am not very technical, so I do not know how to approach this. Thanks,
  25. Hi! I'm experiencing a quite annoying bug... It seems that, randomly (like 1 every 4 ou five times), when I use cmd+c to copy a layer AD (latest version) freezes and the app doesn't respond anymore :( Any clue ? I'm running a mc book pro Retina 13-inch late 2013 with Sierra (latest update) Thanks for the answer
