I am stacking several night sky shots using HDR Merge . The subject has a shot of the Moon very bright set at correct exposure. shots allowing for moonlight on foreground and a large structure building in the midground .The problem I am having is that when I adjust the tones after merge with an acceptable level I cant get the sky dark enough to show off the stars its either one or the other leaving far too much editing as a result . The foreground has snow in it illuminated by the moon the sky has to be dark to show off the Moon and stars, the Horizon has a residue of after sunset light civil Twighlight.so very difficult but if I can get it close to what I saw great dont mind small amount of tweaks . The final result Im getting is leaving the sky as if it was daylight and when i pull the tones control down to get the sky dark everything looks Muddy with all the colours looking yuck! any help would be appreciated .

Same problem in 1.7.3.481 Any comments from the Serif staff? Refine selection is completely useless... No improvements here whatsoever in about two years. -
IU'm converting from Photoshop and struggling to understand something - In the colour panel, there are 2 colour circles which appear to correspond to a 'fill' colour, and a 'stroke' colour - whereas in Photoshop they relate to Foreground and Background colours. Does Affinity Photo have a concept of Foreground and Background colour or not? In Photoshop I can create a gradient from the foreground colour to the background colour - how do I do the equilavent in Affinity Photo? I used the colour dropper tool to select 2 colours in a photo, but as soon as I switch to the gradient tool I don't seem to be able to use the colours I picked, as a white gradient fills the entire layer and I cannot find an option to go from Fill to Stroke colour. -
Can you convert from color to grayscale and/or black/white in Affinity Designer and/or Photo? This is very helpful for designing for the very few people who cannot see color in checking for background/foreground contrast. -
Tackle down object in foreground (the lamp) by stacking works fine. With only two pictures, the bike light has almost completely been removed. Hot to do the opposite? I tried 1000 things, but now I am running out of ideas. Pictures are originally raw, but size is to big to upload here. The result is not as perfect with the jpg's, but still ok. Foreground: Background: The pictures are shot on tripod, so for stacking no Auto nor Live are necessary: Any suggestions, how I can remove the BACKground with stacking? Any help appreciated! :) Cheers, Roland

I know of the shortcut to "Fill" and then chose a color from there, I think there should be one for filling with foreground and background to work faster with masking
