  1. Hi all, I'm considering buying Designer but one thing that I can't find is if there is a way to fill an object using vector or patterns. I only find gradients and bitmap. I know we can duplicate an object to create hand made pattern but I can't then edit the repetitions like if is a bitmap fill. Cheers, Juan
  2. Is there a way to convert outlines to filled shapes? The reason behind it is that I'm creating icon glyphs and would like to use the compound shape to "disconnect" a few lines – whereas I can't do that with just an outline and probably would need to convert the line into a stroke.
  3. Hello, I want a selection that I made to be filled simply completely with one color. I used the fill tool and changed tolerance to 100%. However, some dark pixels have alpha in them and they are not being overwritten. How can I simply make every pixel of the selection white, with no alpha?
  4. I'd like to see the Fill tool behave a little bit better for dropping color without it blowing up the edges with the tolerance. I've tried to get it to create a workflow similar to Procreate to fill enclosed spaces of needed color but it seems to just botch up the edges.
  5. How do I repeat a bitmap(fill) on a pixel layer? Bitmap repeats on the vector layer but not on a pixel layer.
  6. Please add an option to repeat bitmap on a pixel layer as well.
  7. Hi, Is there a way to outline / fill a stroke? Thanks.
  8. This did not happen before, but now every time I finish drawing a line (black) with the Vector Pen Tool and my Tablet, I go to fill the new shape (Red). When I click the Vector Pen Tool, the stroke is now RED instead of black, forcing me to constantly switch back to black. This is the first time I've seen the color change based off of whatever color I used to fill a shape. Does anyone know how to keep the black as default and stop changing?
  9. I cannot seem to find a way to solve my problem. I made a shape in Apub and inserted some text in the shape. In Affinity Publisher you have the option through "Text frame" panel to change fill and stroke color of the shape. I now would like to add a brush to the stroke of the text frame but Brushes are not available in Publisher. No problem I think! I use the studiolink to ADesigner, but here there is no option of "Text frame panel". And I cannot figure out how to change either fill color or stroke color/type/brush of the shape that the text is embedded in, in Designer? The curios th
  10. Can't make a selection for a mask from a pen path tool. Somethings if I click Command on the pen path I get a selection, marching ants, but most of the time it doesn't happen. Why not?.
  11. I have a PNG file that is a monochrome skyline silhouette (see attached). I want to fill the grey buildings with another color. How do I do this? I have watched the tutorials but the Color Picker and Fill tools don't seem to do the job. I can do this easily in Irfanview, surely we should be able to do it in Designer. What am I missing?
  12. I do most of my drawing in Adobe Ideas on my iPad, which creates compound vector shapes, which I then use the Live Paint feature in Illustrator to fill in. It makes colouring extremely quick and easy. Is there already, or is there a planned equivalent for Affinity? It's basically the only thing stopping me from making the switch from Illustrator to this, as it's a really nice app otherwise. Many thanks!
  13. Hi all, this bug is present on both, release and beta build (1.9.0.863) of publisher, so I'm not sure if this is the correct sub forum. This simple SVG example file (see attachment) contains two rectangles, each with a stroke width of 10mm. On the red rectangle the paint-order of the stroke has been changed, so the stroke lies behind the fill: Remark: this is a plain SVG files with no Inkscape specific extensions. It is also rendered correctly by e.g. Firefox. When I embed this SVG file into a publisher document, the paint order is ignored (and so are the colours, but
  14. Can somebody please explain how "fill history" work? Help file did not show any hints.
  15. Windows 10 Home 20H2, Photo 1.8.5.703. Have a look at my attached video and see if it’s doing what you think it should be doing. I create a document of 200×200px with some basic content and export it. Then, in another document, I add a rectangle of random dimensions (because I can’t add one with a specific size). Then I change the dimensions to what I want. Then I add a Wrapped Bitmap Fill but the fill is not at the proportions I would have expected, even with Maintain Fill Aspect Ratio switched on. Is this what is supposed to happen? (It doesn’t seem right to me.) It seems to
  16. I need to fill shapes with images, in Designer. I've watched a tutorial which instructs me to create the Shape and then drag the desired Image (already in the working space) up onto the Shape. In the tutorial, the shape fills with the image on both the Artboard and the Context dashboard . However, when I try the same actions, nothing happens. See screen-shots below. I have a project due TODAY. Need an answer ASAP pls. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
  17. Hello, I found that certain combinations of stroke's cap, join & align resulting in flattened stroke if exported to SVG. Oddly, it's only happened in closed shape (stroke that its start meets with its end). I exported to SVG using AD and opened the SVG using AI. OS: Windows 10 Home Affinity Designer: 1.8.5.70 Adobe Illustrator: 2021 (25.0 for 64 bit) I have made the list of the combinations that you can try for yourself to reproduce the issue. Step to reproduce the issue: - Open the file I provided and export it to SVG (for export) Flattened Stroke Test.
  19. “Fill tool” is doing multiple fill actions by just scrolling/browsing the “Fill Type” carousel. It’s creating multiple history states by just scrolling the “Fill Type” option and sometimes causing a slow down and even a crash! I’ve attached a video demonstrating the bug, notice the “history studio”. Restarting the app didn’t help! Affinity Photo v1.8.6 iPadOS v14.0.1 (iPad Pro 11 inch 2nd gen) IMG_0903.MP4
  20. Hi, I cannot add a second style with the same fill and stroke colour to the 'styles'. I'm trying to save some styles to the styles menu. They have the same fill and stroke colours but they have a different dash length/pattern. So when I try to add a second one to the styles menu, it doesn't let me do that. I think AD sees this as a duplicate and therefor doesn't let me add it. Only when I change the the colour of it. Anyone out there who can help me out? Thanks
  21. is there a way to auto-fill a negative shape surrounded by and existing fill? If I wanted to fill in the circular hole in the image attached? I know I could do it prior to expanding the strokes, or I have seen people create a whole new shape with pen tool set to fill-only. Are there any other better options yet?
  22. I don’t normally use HSL colours so this is a new area for me. In my attached image I have two rectangles, each with a horizontal linear gradient fill. The top rectangle gradient goes from RGB 0, 0, 0 on the left to RGB 255, 0, 0 on the right and that looks as I would expect (the colour at the middle point is RGB 128, 0, 0, as can be seen in the little square below it). However, the bottom rectangle gradient goes from HSL 0, 100, 50 on the left to HSL 360, 100, 50 on the right but I don’t get the colours in-between the two as I can see in the “H” slider of the Colour Chooser. I
  23. Hey guys, I'm not quite sure how to achieve this. I'd like an objects fill to be transparent, but remove all the intersecting paths/lines behind where the fill of the front objects would otherwise cover up. You can see below (attached image), the desired outcome is on the left, but when I make the fill transparent, you get the result on the right. This is probably simple but I can't think of the right tool or technique to use. So I'd like to keep the strokes shown on the left but have the fill transparent without any strokes behind appearing. Any help is much appreciated!
  24. I created System Palettes instead of application Palettes as I use the same colors across multiple Apps. The problem is, when I open them in Affinity Designer, they aren't sorted alphabetically (it might be an issue with Affinity not using the OSX Dialog Box, which I like...feels more integrated), But When you have color variations with similar names I would like them to be grouped together. I'm aware I can sort the colors within a palette, but not the palettes themselves. Is there anyway to fix this?
  25. I'm currently working in Designer to create vector artwork, and a few of the designs are getting a little more complex than I'm usually used to and I'm having trouble trying to fill in shapes - my designs are eventually printed onto posters and clothing. I have a few options when it comes to filling in but feel they are unorthodox or won't give me the desired print quality at 300dpi. 1. At the moment I have been creating the line work from an image, tracing the main outlines of shapes. This has resulted in a lot of open lines. I have then been keeping the lines in a separate layer from t
