  1. Please help! I'm creating a 16 page file and everything was fine until I restart. What should I do? I didn't want to reinstall because I already had paragraph styles created. Please help.
  2. Hello, good morning, everyone. Excuse my English, it's translated. My problem is this, I have 100 tif files that weigh about 800 MB. I have AF on iPad as my primary photography software. It is clear that if I synchronize these 800 MB by iCloud, I will have to wait a long time to do it. So I tried to do it through iTunes, in shared files to do it through USB and be faster. But what I add here doesn't appear on iPad. I've tried creating a project, and that folder doesn't appear. I added a single file and it doesn't show up either. I'm desperate, maybe as I write this post I would have already synchronized iCloud, but that's not the case. What solution can you recommend for uploading large files in quantity? I will add to this thread a question I asked a long time ago and I think it comes with the same subject. What is the difference between AF MacOS and AF iOS? I was told at the time that the engine is the same, but the image processing is different. In my case, can I trust that AF iOS can give me maximum quality photos for printing? CMYK color outputs, no loss of quality at the time of export, etc.... Or will I have to buy AF MacOS? I hope you can help me and thank you very much. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
  3. I'm using the drag and drop interface to drop pixel art files (.bmp) from Windows Explorer to work with into a large master file, but when I paste (drop) them the layers depixelate and anti-aliasing appears. I can't tell whether the layers actual contents have been changed or if it is a UI effect but either way, I wish to turn this off. I performed a cursory search of the forums and the Internet but was unable to find anything for Affinity Photo. Here is approximately what's going on: If I copy and paste a range of pixels, the type of layer created is of type "Pixel", but when I drag and drop a file from an explorer window onto a canvas, it creates a layer of type "Image" instead. How do I make new layers made by drag/drop appear as pristine original pixels (like copy-paste) rather than a blurry anti-aliased version of themselves? I don't see a way to change this in the layer settings or in the Preferences window.
  4. I'm wondering if anyone has written anything about the different options for saving and storing Affinity Photo files for iPad? It seems there is a bit of confusion on the topic. I know I've been a bit confused by it but I don't see a whole lot posted here. Perhaps I'm the only one? I'm exploring this a bit because by chance today I was poking around the Settings app and took a look at my iPad's storage and saw that Affinity Photo was using up 22GB! I've got quite a few projects but expected it to be half of that or less. Now, I've got plenty of storage but for anyone that has less or for folks that might want to more easily back-up to a local Mac or whatever, using Files app storage might be better. So I started poking around. As I understand it, by default files are stored within Affinity Photo on the iPad. A sort of hidden storage area which shows up in the documents browser within Affinity Photo. It's not possible to see file sizes from this location. If I choose to save (from the corner widget of the document icon in the document browser) the file is then saved into "On my iPad" in the "Photo" folder on iPad and I can open it up from the Files app. The nice thing about this is I can see the file size and easily copy it to other places with no issues. Also, for someone with lots of projects and clients, the built in Photos document browser can get pretty cumbersome. By moving my projects to Files app I can nest folders as needed, add tags, etc. If there comes a time when I need to transfer/copy many files or a whole folder I can do that simply via drag and drop. What I'm getting at is that there seem to be an opportunity here to offer an app preference for an "On my iPad" Files app based storage as a default rather than the built in storage. For those of us coming from the Mac with lots of projects this might be preferable. Or, if not offered as a possible app preference for default storage/saving location it might be beneficial to highlight it and clarify in documentation. I'm aware that there is a section on saving and storage but it seems a bit too minimal. I'm likely going to turn this into a blog post with a bit more detail and will post a link back here if there is interest.
  5. Hi, My app kept crashing while I was editing. So I decided to delete it and reinstall it. But all my files were gone!!! Total panic!! Luckily I had an old cloud backup so I could save most of my files. My how on earth can I reinstall Photo without losing my files (I hope nog saving and exporting them one by one, there must be an other way!).
  6. When I export to “Files” many times the Affinity Photo app is blocked and I lose all the work done.
  7. Hi, I'm new to this place...hope somebody can help me Since the new Windows update was installed, Affinity refuses to save my projects, it always says that there isn't enough memory, but there over 300gb of free disk space...so I don't see a reason to this. This started as I tried to save a project, which I started out with a stack of pictures, and since then I can't save any of my projects. Sombody got an idea how to fix this?
  8. I have bought Affinity Designer and also bought affinity Designer workbook. In the tutorials section, it says that all the working files may be downloaded from - and I quote "affin.co/coreskills" There seems to be no such website. Is this a misprint - or do I simply return the book as useless? Please advise me how to obtain the working files. Regards David
  9. When I open the import from iCloud interface in Affinity photo"UIdocumentbrowser" and the click the home button and open the files app and open a photo that is in the Affinity photo folder. When Affinity photo opens it will still be showing the "UIdocumentbrowser", closing the "UIdocumentbrowser" and re-opening Files and trying to open the save photo again opens affinity photo and nothing happens. IOS 11.1.2 iPad Pro 10.5 inch Affinity photo (1.6.7 - Beta 1) 1. open the import from iCloud interface in Affinity photo 2. click the home button and open the Files app. 3. open the Affinity photo folder in files and tap on a photo in that photo. 4. Affinity photo should open and nothing happens. 5. close the the import from iCloud interface in Affinity photo 6. click the home button and open the Files app. 7.open the Affinity photo folder in files and tap on a photo in that photo. 8. nothing happens. 9.you must force restart the app to get the image importing from Files to start working.
  10. I am using Affinity Photo on Windows and would like a better way to catalogue my photos. Currently I am using Picasa as a viewer and occasionally added metadata tags in the EXIF data. While I have read a number of posts on this topic, I am not a current user of LightRoom or other Adobe products but am happy to start if required. So I am looking for any recommendations for software that runs on Windows that will work nicely with Affinity Photo please. (I'm ignoring the Affinity DAM product until it appears) Thanks
  11. Can anyone direct me to a list of camera RAW files supported by Affinity Photo.
  12. First of all I think Affinity Photo for iPad is a great tool and one of a kind in the sense there's nothing that gets even close in App Store to the features you guys are providing. However I'm not entirely satisfied with the process how it works today. I understand this issue is partly because of Apple limitations on iPad platform but maybe there's something that could be improved on Affinity Photo side also and hence this feature request. As a photographer and traveler I want to travel light but still want to be able to process my RAW images and generate JPG export files easily. 1. I go on a site and take pictures with my DSLR and later import the photos to my iPad pro using Apple camera connection kit. (Ideally I would like to import directly to files or Affinity photo) 2. Once the photos are in iPad I would like to create a project with all of the imported RAW files without individually locating and adding them one by one. Could be something like import all photos from album "Last import" 3. I will do the edits to all the files I find are worth keeping and removing bad shots 4. I would like to batch export all RAW files to photos app (or files app) as JPG files
  13. Please synchronize the affinity files with the new iOS 11 file system. This will anable people to work seamlessly on the iPad and a PC without the need to constantly export files and having multiple out of date versions.
  14. Hello, I just realized that my RAW developed in .afphoto weighs tons !!!! Always more than 100MB, while I have only done the development + addition of a single layer ( picture 5000px X 3400px ). I understand better why the free space of my hard drive melts like snow in the sun! Is it like that on other development software? It will become difficult for me ... Especially that finally the .afphoto does not bring much for just development because we can not even go back on a development in progress ... There is a solution to alter the size of .afphoto files? Regards.
  15. Hi thanks all for keeping up with this great apps package. I would like to know if it is possible to create a document and drag into this document 3 other files that would be place as layer, but would be updated if those file would be changed or modified individualy by someone else on another package. I would like them to be updated in my document and keept as external references. Then if I want to convert them as embed within my document and break this external link I would like to have this option to do so as well. Let me know as I would like to know if I can base my next project pipeline on your apps. Regards.
  16. Hey guys, I have created a logo and when i export it to PDF and open it the glitter tent opening i created from a shape turns into pieces, I've played around with layers and i don't know why its doing this? Then i just opened the exported SVG file of this and the whole glitter shape is gone , the white triangle which is the opening has also disappeared and the black tent its self is just there, why :( ? I'm sorry if this is a silly question but i have never had this issue before. Would it have something to do with the grouping? How ive exported it? What am I missing. Attached pictures are : 1 is a screen shot of my PNG file open which is clearly right and then the PDF open next to it with the glitter tent opening in pieces, and then the 2nd one is a screenshot of when i open the file in SVG ? Thank you and I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this and possibly help me out here xo
  17. Hi! New Mac user here! Before I buy Affinity I would like to know if it is possible to open, import and edit .CDR files.. Thank you!
  18. I've been using Lightroom for a few years, but it's limited so I've bought Affinity. However, I want to eventually delete Lightroom and use Affinity for all my work. Problem is finding files from Lightroom and associating these with Affinity. At present, the process is a little convoluted. I have a large number of photos (10k+) organised into a good number of folders and sub-folders. I'd like a way to transfer these folders from Lightroom to some other picture storage software that will allow that process. Anyone any ideas, please? Thank you.
  19. I cannot follow the Resource "core_skills.afdesign" at the top of a topic in the Workbook. Some insight onto using this would be helpful. I do not have the practice files for the Workbook and would like a link to get them.
  20. Summary: Would love to see the "Export Layers As Files" function, where it takes your current document and exports each layer as a separate file to a chosen directory. Usage: Frequently I'll do screencaptures and paste the results into a document. I'll then crop the document to the size of the screencaptured window, but now I have 100 layers of screen captures that I actually want as separate files. This feature would automate that process. Thanks! - Neil
  21. Hi Very pleased to be able to manage assets within AD and am spending a great deal of time creating various libraries for our company :) I therefore wish to ensure that the growing asset library is both backed up frequently and shared as seamlessly as possible with my colleagues. I know that I can export assets to a file, but I would like to write scripts to backup and share with my colleagues whenever I make a change to the library of assets. Could you therefore let me know where are the assets are actually stored on a mac, so that I can target this directly rather than requiring to export each time I make a change and manually redistribute? Is it possible to configure one (or more) locations to store assets? Thanks for your help, regards, Tim
  22. Yesterday, I purchased Affinity from the AppStore. I opened a photo, worked on it, saved it to my desktop as affinity file, closed Affinity, then double clicked my desktop file, when it failed to open in my prior Affinity Beta app, so I trashed that version and tried again, only this time it was trying to open in Skitch. I trashed Affinity and installed it again from the AppStore. I still have the same problem. HELP!!!!! Thank you. I am using Affinity 1.4.2 on OS 10.10.5 dadsdance 2.afphoto
  23. Something that's been bugging me for a while now. I have no control how a file is placed into a document on either of the apps. The imported file just sticks to the mouse pointer and I have to manually place it. That just steals time away from work as it piles up. I'd rather have a way to just import a bunch of images in one go (without using stacks, that just adds a different workaround). Especially now that we have 32-Bit EXR and AP can now be used as a stills compositing tool as well to combine multiple render passes. It'd also be good to set an option where to place the imported image. For photo bashing / matte painting for example it's helpful to import a bunch of images and have them show up on the canvas without overlap, like a gallery, so work can being right away with less moving things around. For standard compositing tasks a top left pin… and so on. For showcases it's often useful to just place things side by side. So a way to just say, n on x-axis with distance (xx cm) would save a ton of repetitive tasks. In terms of UI this could be solved with a few standard options to click on and an advanced option that have saveable presets. But most important to me is the automated import of many images to x=0, y=0.
  24. It would be useful on the home screen when you open Affinity Designer as well as the work of the designers, there is the possibility to open the last used files.
  25. Hello, I started a new document on Windows. Your tool is really cool :) and fast. Then I'd like to work on this document on my Mac. Unfortunately this isn't possible - please see attached screen shot. Regards. Designer_Windows_Apple.tiff
