  1. Hi affinity, there is no possibility to Export All preferences or settings including View, Editing, also there is no way to export "New project-> MY PRESETS" so please add the possibility in the next updates, I mean Export/Import. Thanks 💙.
  2. ***Affinity feature requests*** * Global Gradient Swatches. Are they this hard to implement in affinity software...it's been 3 years alomst and the top design app for mac still doesnt support global gradient swatches, why is that? * Dynamic Styles. Yes, a workaround for this is using a symbol but having a dynamic style instead of using a Symbol can be used in many areas, means, i can implement a dynamic style with shadows and glow to a circle, a rectangle, a polygon...while having ability to manipulate and watch effects like shadows taking change on multiple objects in real time. You get the idea, right? Specially for Ui/Ux designers. * Symbol lock (Sometimes we end up making changes to symbols only to zoom out and realizing those changes impact symbols on the entire page. Hence a special symbol locking mechanism would be very welcomed where we can lock symbols so that they can be moved and resized but cannot be modified or implement changes to their appearances) * Shape builder tool (We all know it how much us designers are craving for this handy dandy boolean operation tool. come on team serif * Shape Blend tool (least priority but essential tool) * Mirroring tool (I get the idea to use symbols as workaround for mirroring but wont a separate tool make tasks a lot easier for logo/graphic designer?) * Functionality to add more Api within Affinity software to grab assets from websites, just like unsplash is currently supported. 3. I am posting this feedback in this section of the forum, I hope this help to improve the software Not going to talk about the bugs, I hope all of them get fixed I am going to compare my experience with other softares, such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape (the ones I use the most) For the few time I have used the software I can tell is very minimalistic, (I really hope this is not because the Ipad version limitations, as PC can do much more than a Ipad, so I hope PC version is not being limited to keep in the same quality of the Ipad version) Or maybe is the way the software is going to be, as it could be a minimalistic software not planned to have advanced features, I would like to know which kind of software Affinity Designer aim to be, minimalistic or advanced? Developer team care for both personas this mean less time to focus to improve designer persona and possibly priorize pixel persona over vector persona (The software is meant to be a vector graphic software, rather than a raster graphic software) The exporting persona is not intuitive and does not have much more to offer than the traditional exporting in the user menu The software have very few settings and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) The software have very few tools and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) There are very few tools for vector graphics, and the customization for them are very tricky and not intuitive & limited _ What I suggest is to focus on introducing new tools&features&settings to work with vector graphics and improve the ones that the software already have Currently I don`t use this software because of the limitations exposed, as other vector graphic software have to offer much more optimized tools&features for vector format (SVG), I really hope it get more complexity eventually as for now it is not a stand alone software for its limitations & few features for vector graphics.
  4. Does anyone here have a link to or access to a feature comparison chart for Affinity Photo and Adobe Photoshop? I'm asking for a friend — really. My friend is considering either updating to a more recent version of Photoshop CC or else moving over to Affinity Photo. My talking about software is great, but I would also like to show him some resources other than my own enthusiasm. Thanks in advance.
  5. Input please: As a photographer I’ve been using Lightroom on my (now outdated) iPad for years, and used my wife’s Macbook Pro when I needed features, not available on my iPad (photoshop). I don’t really like Lightroom, I’m intrigued by Affinity Photo, and I need new hardware - so here’s my dilemma: Is there any difference in performance/possibilities/features/flexibility using Affinity Photo on an iPad Pro, or an iMac? Because that might decide my hardware choice (I really like my iPad cuz I travel a LOT, but the output and flexibility is far more important). I hope this makes sense! Thanks in advance for any help!
  6. Is there any plan in the future to have a remove line between nodes ( but have the nodes till connected ) like in Moho it would be a great tool to have for any one making assets for cut out animation or just filling shapes and not having to have them duplicated to hide line art.
  7. Yet another moment of, hey I didn't know I could do that: Today I did a PLACE with an .svg image and I was able to edit it in the manner of an Adobe smart object. I knew I could do that with Affinity files but I didn't know I could do it with .svg as well. Kudos Affinity!
  8. Can you guys please port over the distort feature from Serif DrawPlus or PagePlus into Publisher? This has been announced 5 years ago to be on the roadmap for Designer and still is not there. Today, I am using the Distort from PagePlus (=2015) or CorelDraw7 (=1995) to do this and copying the results back into Designer/Publisher. Quite embarrassing.
  9. I'm perfectly fine sticking with an already well developed animation program. But its always good to have a non subscription program you like as a backup.
  10. Hey there, I have some suggestions to add to the next update of affinity designer. Since i used to use there tools on Illustrator and there isn't no workaround to get the same effects...Here is the suggestions to add to the next update. Tools: image tracing distort warp text Thank you very much.
  11. I have dual 4k monitors for video editing (Davinci Resolve). Is it possible to get Affinity Photo to work on dual screens?
  12. I've no idea where to post this, but this seems like the best place after my search. I found it amazing to watch a Photoshop CC 2019 'new' features video - Errr ... don't we have most of these in Affinity already?
  13. Hey, new Affinity Photo user here. I'm really happy with the program itself, it seems very intuitive, and easy to get into, especially when you're used Photoshop Elements, which i used before. Now, there's one thing which i miss, coming from that software: The filters. PS Elements really had a big selection of quality filters, and, compared to that, the selection in AP really seems quite sparse. I'd especially wished there were more artistic filters, for text, or narrow object decoration, for example. Wonder if there's anything bigger planned in that regard. At the moment, i rather feel like doing the base work in AP, and then switching to PS Elements, to apply some filters, which, of course, is not optimal.
  14. I am really enjoying using Affinity Publisher Beta, it is just as easy and intuitive to use as the old PagePlus series from Serif. However there are a couple of features that are currently missing that I used frequently before. Alignment Buttons For many years I have been used to quickly clicking an "Alignment" button in the Character/Paragraph format toolbar which quickly centred, aligned objects (including text) to left edge, right edge, or vertical centre, top, or bottom of guides or margins. Currently it is possible to align things using the justification tools but there are not as many options. Reduced Workspace I find the work space / desktop area in Affinity Publisher Beta very restrictive with all tools permanently open. PagePlus allowed the panels of tools to be shown or hidden with a single click with panels sliding in and out from left or right. I haven't found this available in Affinity Publisher via the "View" options either.
  15. Hey, because the discussion board is full of requests and I don't really know where to put my thoughts and experiences from the first run of Affinity Publisher I put them here in a quick list for further discussion UI Doubleclick on Color in Color selector opens a different dialog to a doubleclick on a swatch mac OS Proxy Icons for file management monochrome tool icons Color Management / Spot Colors: Device independent color workflow generally mixed colorspaces (like in Indesign and PDF) Overprint preview, separations preview Better Overprint/Spot-Color-Management Make Spot Color from existing color Spot Colors in LAB-Color-Space for PDF Export Document Management Spreads which consist of more than two sides Printing Booklets / Imposition Export select Pages for export by a list of numbers Use .joboptions for the definition of pdf-Properties (really important) Define PDF-X Output Intend Export print separations / separated color channels Interactive PDFs with page transitions and video content Import IDML
  16. Is there a list of the features that didn't make the Public Beta but are intended to be added through the beta period and potentially before the first gold master release candidate? Obviously, not all of those items may/will make it into the Gold Master, but it might cut down on the request list in the Forum if we could see what's being worked on that is being considered for the final release candidate.
  17. I was wondering if there's a way to save gradient presets? If it's not available, I was wondering if that's part of the roadmap?
  18. Hello, For some weeks we worked on a really big catalog project. I think the version we used for this was the 1.6.1 (not exactly remembering). Yesterday morning, when opening the file I received a failure message (image attached) showing that the file (approx. 110 MB) could not be opened because of the following reason: "the file includes features from a later version of Affinity". Files created a few weeks ago in Affinity still can be opened without any problems. This error message came out of nowhere. There was no update or change in the meantime. Out of desperation we installed and deinstalled every single version available of the program (up and downgrades) from the oldest to the newest. Nothing happens. Same error message. The afdesign file not even be openened in Affinity Photo. Please help! If all this work is lost now, this will be really hard for us... Thanks you so much for your help!
  19. I have been searching endless, and in vain, to find the perfect Digital Asset Management solution. I am a massive fan of Serif products and have been from way before Affinity, but I am in desperate need of this promised product. In addition to already existing great products (PhotoMechanic for speed of ingesting files, Clarifai for auto tagging, Photos / Apeture (though discontinued) for Asset organisation, etc) there are some other features I would hope for create stacks of images - each stack to have a right click function of 'create focus merge, create HDR merge, create panorama' straight into Affinity Photo Auto tagging / keywords. this has come a long way in recent years and would save SOOO much time - i would also be willing to pay a SMALL monthly subscription for such a service. Structured keywords - with ready made structures And should Serif be short on Beta testers - pick me (please)
  20. Good day, my name is Wolf. I have Windows 10. My questions: 1.Is the windows store version the same as the desktop version? 2. Can I buy the windows store version with a windows store card? Or do I need to pay via Windows Store with paypal/card? 3. Will it be updated on the same dates as the desktop version?
  21. I was wanting to align nodes, but there didn't seem to be an ability to align them relative to each other on the same curve. I have been using Inkscape, and I wanted to purchase Affinity designer, but there seems to be a few things that don't seem to be there that I wish there was, including the ability to align nodes. It would be nice if there was an "Insert node at middle point" to insert new nodes right between two existing nodes on the same curve. Is there any way to do this? Also, I find that manipulating nodes doesn't offer a lot of precise control. Is there a way to move bezier handles relative (exactly) to the x axis, y axis, or 45 degrees without it being in that position originally? Shift only constrains it to moving along the path it was already on... Which is useful, but sometimes I want it to be along the x axis instead, and there is not exact way of doing this it seems. Another thing... Is there an inset feature? It would be really handy to have, when you want to shrink something down, but not proportionally, so that it leaves the same amount of space around each side. Anyways, I'm just using the trial version to test it out before I actually buy it. I am currently really loving Affinity Designer, as it puts a lot of focus on making the designing experience as fluid and dynamic as possible, however it seems to be missing quite a few features that Inkscape has which is messing up my workflow and making me hesitant to purchase Affinity designer. I've only been using it for a few days so I could just be missing some things. Also, I am LOVING the drawing tool (SO much better than Inkscape's) but is there any way of modifying the pressure along the curve AFTER you have drawn it? Sometimes I draw it with my drawing tablet, but I mess up the pressure at a certain part, and I would just want a little more control over the dynamics of the curve. Thanks!
  22. Is the affinity team check the Internet to see what are saying about your softwares ? Because if you conduct the investigation, you would see taht the most wanted feature is a DAM. Everywhere in Facebook groups, forums ... it's THE thing that blocks systematically. This is understandable, amateur photographers as professionals use sensibly same workflow that begins with the classification and organization of their photos... it's impossible for a photographer to do without a DAM when he has thousands of photos. Currently no DAM software seems to be able to read Affinity files ... If you really want to explode the market, take out THE PROMISED DAM for years or make an agreement with other software like DarkTable ... You will shadow Adobe only when you'll have a LightRoom equivalent (the dam part of course), in the meantime, photographers monitor, test but do not seriously consider using your software, many will also forget you... I really think that's DAM should be a priority, what about you ?
  23. What are the differences between the iPad and Desktop version of Affinity photo? I have the iPad one, but it was only $20 while the desktop version is $50. I feel like I could use the desktop for its more powerhouse ability for some things, but am not sure if there are any differences that make the desktop version is more worth it.
  24. Until just last night, I knew nothing about Affinity Designer. But because I was forced to find a substantially cheaper alternative for Illustrator for the time being, I'm glad to have found this app. Even though I can see right off the bat how many features aren't included that I'm used to in Illustrator, I see how the workflow is way more intuitive, and just consolidated in how you perform operations (Layer masks just like Photoshop. But like...with Vectors. WOW. Whoda thunk? Adjustments to the stroke thick/thin with that beautiful pressure tool. SAY WHAT? Where've you been all my life?) However, here are the three things I need to know how to do straight in Affinity. I realize I may need to jump back and forth in my clunk older copy of Illustrator to do a few things. But hopefully I'm just over looking things. How do you do offset a path? I know there's a stroke feature. Which is and isn't quite the same, but I can achieve similar things for the basic outside offset. However, I need to know how to do inner path offsets (you know, when you set the offset to a negative number, and it shrinks). I'm assuming it's called something else if you have this feature. I keep reading conflicting stuff online (that seems a little out of date as well) Is there a way to do the Envelope warp with objects in Affinity? Basically, I just want to know if I can arch my text like in Illustrator. I don't need the wacky bulges and crap like that. I just need to do arches and flag raises. Is there a shape blend tool or a process to create shape blends? A bonus one would be if I can create pattern brushes like in Illustrator, but that's a "meh" The fact that you can draw like a real art program means I wouldn't need pattern brushes as much. Anyway, I'm still using the trial. Is the paid version different?
  25. When it comes to organizing images in a DAM app can you please have a look at how Apples aperture organized them. They had Project, Album and Smart Albums. Then you could organize any of those items into folders. Also they allow a broad ranging choice of how to store the images, from within aperture library, an external folder on the HD or on an external HD, the options were limitless as well as automatically backing up the original images to a separate folder/drive. With work I will have multiple projects running dealing with between 2000 and 10000 images, Apertures organizing system made it a piece of cake to organize and categorize the images quickly and effectively so when it came time to make a movie out of the photos I did not need to pour through thousands of images as they were already organized in a way I could pull up the ones I needed straight away. I found lightrooms organizing system cumbersome and I had to go back and for between different projects (libraries), I want to see all my projects on the same screen as I tend to go back and forth between them quickly to compare. Can you also add editing capabilities for the basic edits like lightroom and aperture have and then link the photos into the Photo app for more advanced edits. For me aperture is the best DAM I have used and it is what made lightroom what it is today, it's a shame Apple discontinued it, but if you guys took on some of the organizing features that would be fantastic. Cheers JT
