  1. Could DXF export be added as a export option. I sometimes have have to send my designs to a CNC and vinyl cutting shop. There preferred format is DXF. It would be great not to have to import my design into cad program before sending it them. I currently use this feature in illustrator and it works nicely.
  2. It doesn't matter what I copy, Designer always rasterizes it into a png for my clipboard. This is hyper annoying.
  3. When I have a lot of slices like 20, and while scrolling down the options slices, the whole app freezes and just goes no responding. This problem has been there for a while and it's very annoying. I attached the image and my work file. Card Design.afdesign
  4. How do I export with the Export persona? I choose a folder but it never gives me the option of ‘Open’ so I always have to cancel. I can’t even export manually now with this one file. When I go to the export dialogue box, my only option is to export the entire document, not just an Artboard. What am I missing? Or is it a bug with the program? Any help is appreciated. This has never worked (properly) for me since I got the program 6 months ago. Thanks. 5626AEB4-3701-424C-A02B-DF8C72E57294.MP4
  5. I am trying to export SVG files from Affinity Designer and bring them into a range of programs for generating tabs / notches and then outputting for laser cutting. In Adobe Illustrator it is very simple - you set the document units to mm, design something with specific dimensions, and export your SVG. What comes out will be interpreted by other software, and by the laser cutter at the exact dimensions. With Affinity Designer, I've spent hours troubleshooting and digging through the forums and no matter what I do dimensions seem to vary depending on the DPI and all sorts of other options, and even slices of objects with the same height will export at different dimensions. It makes it practically impossible to predict what size your object will be. (as an aside, I thought DPI was completely irrelevant to vector - why is it even an option in a vector format?!) So is reliable scale something Affinity Designer just can't do? How are people delivering documents for print if they don't know how the printer will interpret the dimensions of their final files? I dumped Creative Cloud, bought the Affinity hoping to replace AI and now am faced with going back to Creative Cloud and getting stung with higher fees as a result of leaving. For my line of work this seems like really simple stuff...
  6. This doesn't happen on normal export to PDF. This doesn't happen on export to x-1 or x-4. This only happens on exporting to x-3 PDF to the best of my testing ability When you have an image background and then overlay a transparent image, the overlapping pixels become slightly miscolored. Not enough to jump out, but enough that if sent to a professional printer, it will be visible on the page. I've attached a quick af.pub file and a screenshot taken from my PDF viewer (chrome) of this afpub file exported to X-3 PDF standard. To recreate 1) Create af.pub 2) Find a solid color image (doesn't need to be solid color, but easier to see this way) 3) Place solid color image on master page 4) In page mode, place an image that has transparency (PNG, etc.) over the background image. 5) Export to x-3:PDF standard, open and look at the overlayed image transparent pixels pdf_transparency_miscoloration_x3.zip
  7. [Last exception 2100 in PDF_clip]["Function must not be called in 'page' scope"] Error happens on both x1a and x3. X4 (and normal PDF) works fine. I believe I know the problem - transparent images. x4 supports transparent images, but x1a and x3 doesn't. I need to export to either x1 or x3 for my print-on-demand provider. Can we flatten/rasterize any transparent images with page background so we can have a x1 or x3 compliant PDF? I'm using PNG files with transparencies as linked resources. thanks
  8. I create greeting cards in affinity designer and get them ready for print. I make 2 artboards with bleed, and export them in PDF format. However when i check the file it shows part of the document completely blank. I've tried changing settings and export methods but it keeps on exporting a blank page. Is there a way to fix this? Does anyone know what's causing this? The full file: (i blacked out the designs for the screenshot) And this is what the PDF looks like: Completely blank..
  9. HI! I am using Photo v 1.7.1.404 in Windows10 and can not save or export warped photos. The save xx.afphoto seems ok and the icon looks ok but when opened it tis not warped. The export jpg looses changes when saved and the icon shows unworped. I am working with increased canvas size.
  10. Using the scripts that Dan provided for turning on debugging the pdflib, I was able to figure out what is causing my Export to PDF error. The problem was: I traced this to a hyperlink to an anchor on page 17 of my document going to page 69. I removed the hyperlink and tried to export again. Then, I also need to remove a second hyperlink on the same page: When I removed both hyperlinks on page 17, everything exported. However, I need these hyperlinks on page 17 and I don't know why the "left" value is less than 0. Both hyperlink text are just phrases within the text frame on the page. There's nothing different than any of the hyperlinks on prior pages that work. Both of these exception occur on pg 17, going to page 63 and page 69. thanks,

  12. Hi, I tried to export .eps file for shutter stock which is need to be bigger than 4m. So i set my work like 6000x4000px which is should be very big but turned out it was very small when i open it again in app after exporting the file. Please suggest, thanks.
  13. I tried Exporting as EPS, SVG and PDF - I always end up with a pixelbased graphic instead of vectors. The graphic itself is outmost simple: grey fills with a black outline (effect). I want to edit the curves in Illustrator CC. Thanks for any help. K.afdesign kunze.pdf kunze.svg
  14. Hello, I am a new user. Working on my first photo and when I export a jpeg using the "Best Quality" preset, my image has these strange large pixelations that are not present in the original. It is also happening when I export a Tiff. However, pdf export correctly. Files are attached. I am working from a RAW photo taken on Sony A7s. Help would be greatly appreciated. I am thrilled with the app so far aside from this hiccup. Hanalei Pier.tiff Hanalei_Pier.pdf
  15. This bug is rather tricky to explain in words, so you'll just have to look at the attached documents and images. Pay attention to items circled in red on these images. Open the attached Test.afdesign file Notice how the blue rectangle looks like and how the effect was achieved in the attached Affinity.png image Export the Affinity file to a PDF/X4, default settings Open the PDF in Adobe Reader (or any PDF reader), notice how the white texture is almost invisible as seen in Acrobat.png image Open the PDF in Illustrator CC 2019 Examine the clipping mask and group structures, notice the group containing the white brush texture has 20% opacity applied as shown in Illustrator-1.png Set the said group opacity to 100%, as shown in Illustrator-2.png, notice how the brush texture looks correct now Affinity Designer is rasterizing the opacity of the brush texture layer, then applying the opacity again to this rasterized layer. So the final transparency is 20% of 20%, that's 4% transparency at the end. Strangely this bug does not happen if the Colour Overlay effect is not used, check the Test-NoColourOverlay.pdf file. Moreover, this bug is transversal to all Affinity apps. You can trigger it in any of the apps. Even more interesting, this bug shows even if the file is not directly exported, you can trigger it in Publisher by linking to the file. This one is easy to explain in words: Open Affinity Publisher and create a new document Use File -> Place… and place the Test.afdesign into the document anywhere visible Export the Publisher document using the default PDF/X4 settings The same bug will show up in the exported PDF The only work around I've found so far is to disable "Allow advanced feature" under "More..." PDF export. This flattens all transparency. Or use other presets (X3 or X1a) that don't support live transparency anyway. The issue with this is these presets don't output that good results in Affinity... X4 is the best to keep fidelity to the original file. Thanks! Test.afdesign Test-NoColourOverlay.pdf
  16. Hello, I love working with affinity designer on iPad... however, I'm having trouble exporting my file to SVG: All the layer blended shapes/groups are exported as raster images. Is there a way to retain the layer blending for svg files? It's mostly overlay and multiply. I've attached the exported file, hoping it will help figure what went wrong, or if what I'm trying to achieve is at all possible. Regards, Maco neck tie.svg
  17. I'm on the latest version of affinity designer, and have created a lot of isometric illustrstions. However, if I export my artwork to svg (web preset), and open them in sketch app, all the gradients are getting converted to images. I switched back to affinity to inspect these gradients, and I found these are just linear gradients without any special filters. If use the same gradients without isometric plane, the svg out retains its vector gradients, but exporting these with the isometric shapes, it's producing raster images. Is it a bug? Any solution to it. Because i have to do a lot of rework in that case. And it's not just sketch, but my front-end guys also showed me the number of images it has. let me know if you have any solution to it. Thanks
  18. I've been using AD for about a week now and I must say I love. I have a couple of tools and personalization options I still miss from Illustrator and I'm hoping to see them in Affinity soon. One of these is the option to choose the background color of a PNG file upon exporting. Setting a background in any color is fast and easy while creating the content, but exporting an image with a transparent background is impossible. Or at least I haven't found the way to do it.
  19. Is it possible to export affinity designer to PSD file with editable text? If yes, how?
  20. Please look at the two screenshots. The left one is the design as laid out in AD, and the right one is the one after the PDF export. You'll notice that the dotted line is messed up. Please investigate and fix. Thanks so much, guys! Helmar
  21. Using the scripts that Dan provided at: I was able to figure out what is causing my Export to PDF error. The problem was: PDF_create_action(p_0x000001E150645590, "GoTo", "destination {page 63 type fixed left -427.09509 top 758.509355}") [Last exception 1416 in PDF_create_action]["Value -427.09509 for option 'left' is too small (minimum 0)"] I traced this to a hyperlink to an anchor on page 17 of my document going to page 69. I removed the hyperlink and tried to export again. Then, I also need to remove a second hyperlink on the same page: DF_create_action(p_0x000001E13973FD20, "GoTo", "destination {page 69 type fixed left -454.623333 top 758.206293}") [Last exception 1416 in PDF_create_action]["Value -454.623333 for option 'left' is too small (minimum 0)"] When I removed both hyperlinks on page 17, everything exported. 22. I have been trying to export slices, but it will not work. I have tried creating a new document, with or without artboards: nothing. The little menu below the layers window is always greyed out. Only when I select an object I can create a slice from it, but then I can not export it. I have tried restarting the app as well. Affinity Photo export is the same... am I the only one with this bug? I am using an iMac 2011 with el capitan
  23. Dear, I have very strange problem which I never had before. I have got standard stock picture (1), with colours converted to CMYK and size changed for printing. During edition in Affinity Photo everything looks OK. When I export it to TIFF or JPG I receive picture with very strange colours (2). I looks that as windows preview, as well as in windows full screen (3). When I reopen it in Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer it looks normal. What may be a reason?
  24. Hello, I am working on a poster for a school project using Affinity Designer. I am trying to export it to PDF but I keep getting the following error message: An error occurred while exporting to: /Users/Michael/Desktop/GEOL429_poster-II copy.pdf I've searched the forum for similar issues but I couldn't find any (or I'm terrible at searching). It's probably the largest file I've worked with (dimension-wise) at 1.5 m x 0.9 m, which is probably why it's not exporting. But I made one back in December at 0.9 x 0.6 m that was almost certainly a larger file due to using more graphical content. I was wondering if anybody had run into this problem before or had any possible solutions? I have trouble believing that Affinity Designer is not capable of this task (since it rocks at everything else). Thanks for any ideas.
  25. Whenever I export a logo from Designer as an SVG I noticed in Illustrator CS6 my strokes change. It's my suspicion that when the scale strokes option is selected in Designer for iPad, the data gets lost during export to SVG or upon import into CS6. Anyone else getting this glitch? I suppose a workaround would be to convert those strokes to outlines before exporting but what if client wants me to adjust stroke weight on the fly on their computer? Or on my own? I have Designer for Mac as well but these clients do not. So I would like to know if this is something you plan to address in a future update. Fantastic app by the way! May the Vector Gods smile upon you!
