1. I can not believe there was no export capability to produce an Epub2 file, let alone an eub3 file that meets the Daisy Consortium standards.
2. I have had a number of problems working with the attached document (mouse stuff square2.afdesign) which contains 4 placed pdfs. Firstly, when I export the document the resulting pdf expands one of the subfigures so that part of it (top right subfigure) is covered up (mouse stuff square2.pdf attached). Secondly, when I return to the main figure after working on a subfigure the resulting canvas is black and to recover the figure I have to open a new artboard (this recovers the figure) and then undo the creation of the new artboard. then all appears okay. I suspect these problems are related. mouse stuff square2.afdesign mouse stuff square2.pdf
3. I recently encountered an export issue with a gate-fold card project I created. The document is a 4 page, "facing pages" project, with mixed spread dimensions: Page 1: 15x7in Page 2 & 3: 5x7in Page 4: 10x7in It is configure this way so that I get 4 images when I export All Pages, and the single image on pages 2 & 3 is split in half. When I export All Spreads, it produces 3 images, all with correct dimensions (4500x2100, 3000x2100, 3000x2100). When I export All Pages, all 4 images are forced into a single dimension (4500x2100). In all cases, I am exporting using preset JPEG (Best Quality) I tried playing around with various settings, but always with the same result. A document is attached from which I can reproduce this issue. I reproduced this with versions 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 - at first I thought it was a regression introduced in 1.7.3, but reproduced after rolling back to 1.7.2. 5x7 Gate Fold - Export Bug.afpub
4. I'm trying to publish a paperback book on Amazon/KDP using Affinity Publisher. The problem is that half of the pages are missing when previewed on KDP. Per the KDP instructions, I created the AP document with "facing pages" layout (so margins and gutters are OK). My AP book contains 76 pages but the exported PDF only contains 39 pages. Page 1 in the PDF is OK but the remaining pages are "double-wides" -- each containing 2 "book pages". It looks like KDP is chopping off the right half of each PDF page so only the even-numbered (left-side) pages are left. I've contacted Amazon support but I'm guessing they're going to tell me to create a PDF with 76 pages -- i.e. one book page per PDF page. I've looked around the AP export options and don't see any way to do this. So, the question is, how do I export a 76-page "facing pages" document to a 76 page "single page" PDF? I hope this makes sense -- it's a little confusing. Thanks.
5. Could DXF export be added as a export option. I sometimes have have to send my designs to a CNC and vinyl cutting shop. There preferred format is DXF. It would be great not to have to import my design into cad program before sending it them. I currently use this feature in illustrator and it works nicely.
6. TL;DR 1) add dxf support (in- & export) 2) Change SVG exports to world/document units instead of pixels. I recently bought Designer to escape Adobe hell, but I am running into a rather large annoyance: We do a lot of lasercutting/CNC routing at our studio which needs DXF files to work (feature request 1, please add DXF support). I understand this isn't implemented in Designer atm and this wouldn't have to be a deal breaker if SVG export would work properly as I could always use or write an SVG to DXF converter. The problem with current state of SVG: Every SVG is converted to pixel units on export. What that means is that if I design a document in mm, it will be converted to pixels using the DPI setting in the export menu. I've figured out that 96dpi does seem to "work" to get the SVG in "correct" dimensions. Though, due to the fact that mm units are converted to pixels using DPI and are then reconverted to mm when opened up in other software packages, there are rounding errors. Example, 100mm converted to pixels at 96dpi (100mm*96dpi)/25.4mm = 377.952755906px Now, due to the nature of the codebase, that resulting float value is probably being rounded to a number of decimals (all SVG height & width values seem to be limited to 2 decimals), so when we try to convert that "rounded value" back to mm, my initial 100mm isn't quite that anymore. (377.95px/96dpi)*25.4mm = 99.999270833mm One might argue this is not an actual issue for the final result of the work you're doing, as lasercutting and routing wood have a larger error margin than that anyway, but it is for communications sake. When I tell my CNC partner something is 100mm, it needs to be 100mm, not 99.999. Besides that, this just feels like a bad implementation of SVG anyhow. Why would you even convert units. The only workaround I have found is drawing everything up in pixels and manually changing the svg code to use mm. eg.: <svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 1280 800" ... > to <svg width="1280mm" height="800mm" viewBox="0 0 1280 800" ... > This way all the values of the paths are interpreted correctly as being in mm instead of pixels, but this just feels like an ugly patch on something that should not be that hard to fix and implement. Please fix this. Thanks.
7. Hi! Please, i need to export my works in PDF version 1.3 (Acrobat 4). This is the only reason I still use Photoshop instead Affinity Photo. Unfortunately local italian printers require this PDF format. Can You integrate this PDF format? Thanks!
8. Two critical bugs when exporting a file as a PSD file. 1. Any layer marked hidden in Affinity Photo shows up in the exported PSD file as empty. 2. In the exported PSD file, all layers are clipped to the size of the canvas in the Affinity Photo document. The first bug can be worked around by unhiding the layer before export. A pain but doable until fixed. The second bug is fatal. We are looking at buying about 10 licences to deploy Affinity Photo to our team but we have to maintain compatibility with Photoshop as some work will go outside where that is their design package. So any layer that extends beyond the canvas in a document is rendered useless by Affinity Photo clipping to the canvas. This means we will have to look for an alternate application. Which is a real frustration as AP does so many things so very well. Can you hyper-escalate this bug to the development team and provide some kind of workaround in the interim? By the way, importing of PSD files—some with some pretty esoteric filters, adjustment layers, masks, etc.—works very well in Photo. Kudos for that guys. Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on macOS 10.14.6.
9. In my line of work it is essential that I am able to export my images to 8 bit .BMP Is it possible that this option may be added, or is there a simple alternative....without resorting to PhotoShop?
10. There is a wide range of needed optimizations of the svg export in Affinity Designer. I am just listening the most important (buggy) ones for now: The svg tag has the width and height property as percental values, this can cause multiple (positioning / scaling) issues for the web usage (I am a Web Developer, 12+ years) while rendering the svg appropriate and the values are often differently in different browsers for the usage of early access in the DOM, the CSSOM and even for JS. That's why most SVG Exports usually use precise attribute values, e.g. instead of the current export <svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 596 842" ... it needs to be exported as <svg width="596" height="842" viewBox="0 0 596 842" ... AD exports the path's, etc. with inline styles (style="...") instead of the acutal svg properties (e.g. fill="...", stroke="...", font-style="...", etc.). Therefore it's currently hard to override those values outside the svg and even for dynamic JS manipulations / effects The id's of exported elements have the layer's names, therefore there are sometimes problems (e.g. <g id="ArtBö--ard11" serif:id="ArtBö <ard1">) with special characters (including spaces, etc.), especially when trying to access them, sometimes they even brake things. They should be removed from the final svg export entirely (some of the special characters aren't w3c valid for id's anyway). By the way, the exported serif:id="..." makes the svg way bigger in size then it should be (bad loading times on the web), it makes a huge differences when it comes to complex svg's Other export tools / competitor tools do it as explained above and there are no problems. If there is some more detailed technical information needed then let me know.
11. Hi Folks, one question: i exported a 2 page testfile pdf with pulisher. Even though the 2 pages have the same the content elements/type (cause i copied them), in the exported pdf the right/second page has sharp text, the left page on the other hand is pixelated. What i am doing wrong:-)? Greetings from Germany Jo 20190925_Broschuere_148x148_2TEST.afpub 20190925_Broschuere_148x148_2TEST.pdf
12. What I Wish To Do: Export only desired artboards in my document as one single pdf. Each artboard to have its own page in that PDF. I know there have been a few similar topics to this but they differ slightly from what I am trying to achieve. This feature is available in Illustrator CC by doing the following: File > "save as copy" Choosing to save as pdf Then specifying the range of Artboards to be included in the one PDF. (As separate pages of course). I wish to avoid deleting unwanted artboards everytime I wish to export a PDF with only certain artboards included. Otherwise doing File>Export>PDF>"Whole Document" would work, but it's not ideal. Any chance there's now a setting in Export persona that can manage this? Thank you for any input on this. 13. I have been using AD for a while, and created a bunch of custom settings for exporting (to pdf, png etc.). Now I am starting to use Affinity Publisher, and to my surprise, the export settings dropdown only contains the few default items. It this a bug/problem on my machine, or is this intended? I thought it would be obvious that one wants to use the exact same settings for eporting in all Affinity programs. If it is not possible to just share them across all Affinity apps, how can I copy the settings from AD to AP?
14. How to export TGA format files with alpha channel in Designer?
15. Would be really useful to be able to duplicate slice or create a master slice that would be the reference for its duplicate ones being able to adjust one that would adjust them all. Also being able to set size of the slice manually Aso to have some king of predefine slice rules such as always snap multiple of...2 Also being able to select all layer and change par of their name like the first part if the name of all sliced layers. Regards.
16. macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Affinity Designer 1.7.3 --- First, here's how these exported PNGs render in the wild: These photos are exported from the *same* artboard: In case the screenshot of the first export doesn't have you convinced, here's the artboard fill & stroke: (note the fill & stroke, top left) Yes, the slice export options are the exact same: (also notice how you can see in the slice preview that Color Horizontal is transparent but the avatar_color_why_no_transparent clearly has a white background) I feel like this should be stupid-simple. What am I missing? Also here's an example of these files out of preview/affinity designer so it's evident that one's transparent and one has a white background:
17. Greetings, and good evening ... after searching for about four hours now for a solution for my problem ... I've come here, really hpoing, someone can help me with this. So ... I made a flyer for print, with all three programs, Affinity Photo (for picture editing and converting them into CYMK, after the original try to export the PDF directly from RGB into a CMYK file), Affinity Designer (first try to design the flyer, with the result of a "red tinted" pdf) and Affinity Publisher (same result). I can't seem to get the right result after exporting the file into a printable pdf. Always got that red tint, and frankly, after trying for about four hours, I'm done ... with this *PEEP* programs. I searched the internet for a solution of that problem. The screenshot shows the difference between the look of the file in Affinity Designer and in browser or pdf viewer. The file looks more "yellowish" in AD. I've also opened the settings, with which I run the program. As I wrote, I'm really done with this ... *peep* ... really. I've had the same problems when exporting to jpg files ore other files as well. Colours seem way off sometimes and I've read every topic about this as I could. There seem to be others, with the same problems. Maybe someone out there knows whats off? Best Regards Mel
18. Hi! Graphic elements have a lot of extra points after export How do I change the settings in affinity so file has as many points after the export as the source file has in affinity? No bigger.
19. Hi, I recently migrated from illustrator, so I'm not sure if my question is even valid. I built up a document with layers, but after I exported it to PDF using the PDF (export) profile, and opened the generated PDF file, every info on the layer arrangement is lost. Acrobat also doesn't show the layers. I appreciate your help.
20. I can not export an image with a transparant background to png. The background in the png is not transparant, but white. It occurs on the newest version of Photo and Designer on the iPad (both version 1.7.3 on iOs13). In previous versions of both the apps this was never an issue.
21. I'm creating simple Bezier line drawings in Designer and exporting them as SVG files. When I import them into Carbide Create, a CAM app for running a CNC machine, the scaling is too small, generally by a factor of about 5.6. I can't just scale up for two reasons. The lines get choppy and the scale factor is not always exactly the same. I've tried a number of parameter changes to no avail. I have tried this process with iDraw and Inkscape, both export with proper scaling. When I import a Designer created SVG into either Inkscape or iDraw, I also must rescale the image although not necessarily with the same factor as Carbide Create. So, I suspect this is more an issue of how Designer is handling the SVGs.
22. Hi, Affinity Publisher, 1.7.2, OSX Mojave, iMac retina 5k Publisher crashes when exporting as PDF, either already in the export dialog after a few seconds or at the latest at export itself, if PDF-X 1a/X-3/X-4 is not(!) selected as PDF format. Reproducible, every time. I tried PDF 1.4 instead of PDF 1.7 compatibility in export for Web, the same result. Only with PDF-X the export works (fortunately). The document is a 56-page brochure, 60-70 MB. I have several older versions of the document, the first version doesn't have the error, all later versions crash after a few seconds. Best Thomas
23. Windows 10 Home 1903, Designer 1.7.2.471. Steps to reproduce: * Open Designer; * Create new document; * Switch to Export persona; * Application hangs. I don’t think many people would want to do this in practice but I don’t think they should be penalised for doing so.
24. I am working in a studio, sometimes I recibe some documents but when i try to export it whit the Export Persona the program stop working, I attached a video where show the problem, the low frame is becuase of the software which I used to record it but the Affinity works as normal, but when I change to the Persona to Export, becuase I needed to export just one part of the document is when it crash. For now what I do is open a new workshop and copy and paste just the part I need it whit the export menu, but are more steps and is not optimum. nCZfDPKiyp.mp4
25. Hi All, I have a photobook I originally created in InDesign, and am porting over (manually recreating) into Affinity Publisher. I am having problems around color consistency while exporting. When exporting to JPG, colors visually match between InDesign and Affinity exports. I am having issues when exporting to PDF. InDesign PDF colors visually match JPG exports, but for the life of me I cannot get the Affinity Publisher PDF colors to match. I have confirmed visually by opening both PDFs in same reader side by side, as well as actually physically printing (3rd party) on paper. They are washed out and dull in comparison. I am attaching a page of the book from both. Please tell me what additional settings you need me to provide. Cheers! Affinity Publisher.pdf InDesign.pdf
