  1. Hello! I have a very urgent request and hope somebody can help me I used Affinity Publisher to create an invitation that is going to be printed. The problem is - when I convert in into PDF the color of the image turns out different than the color of a vector that I placed in the same color and a rectangle I also placed in the same color (pipette). I later tried it with the print shop's used ICC profile, but it's nothing better. While the image is the same color as the original (background is greyish blue), the rectangle and the vector are very brown. I have no idea what might be the problem...
  2. According to the manual it should be possible to set a color profile when exporting a document. However, I have found no such setting. It should also be possible to create an export setting that includes a color profile, but I can’t find that setting either. The whole color profiling is a bit mysterious for me. Of course I do understand what it is used for, but how all the settings interact is less understandable. At the moment when I develop a raw image, I will use the RGBA/32 (HDR) ROMM RGB setting. As far as I understand this will guarantee that I will keep the maximum color information in the document. When exporting the document I should give it a color profile that corresponds to the use of the exported document. sRGB should be fine for web images, a color profile for Fuji paper (for instance) when I export a JPG to be printed. Using such profiles will remove color information, so I understand. When I visited the website of the European Color Initiative, I noticed that they have the eciRGB profiles for digital photography, however these are not incorporated in the standard Affinity software. (I did install them). I’m still trying to find some kind of publication that will explain how color profiles for monitors, printers, and documents (“JPG” etc.) interact.
  3. Hello, I am contacting you because during an export or a printing with Affinity Publisher it systematically crashes for the cost no way to send my work or to print it. Enregistrement_de_l’écran_2020-02-18_à_21_44_48.mov carte_lasseube_municipal.afdesign BAT_Programme_13012020.afpub
  4. Hello, I am facing a problem with exporting a project to transparent PNG. I noticed the problem is only with my smaller dimensions such as 851px x 315 px when i tried to export a bigger dimensions it worked fine. Yet i need the smaller dimension, whats the solution, as my client is waiting for the design.
  5. It would be nice to have an option to disable artboard background during exports. Yeah workaround is to create a layer with background and uncheck it during an export. But I always tend to keep number of layers as low as possible... (moreover Sketch has such an option :)) Thx
  6. In my line of work it is essential that I am able to export my images to 8 bit .BMP Is it possible that this option may be added, or is there a simple alternative....without resorting to PhotoShop?
  7. I'm testing Affinity Designer for the first time and I really like the ease of making complex shapes. I've never been much into Illustrator before, so Affinity is just what I need! I'm looking at the list of export formats and I couldn't find TGA. Don't know whether to think that's strange or not, but for game engines, TGA seem to be used more than I knew before. At the game design school I graduated from, we were encouraged to use TGA for UI elements. I thought that was strange to begin with, but I stuck to it. Now I'm modding a game, and the game wants TGA. It becomes a bit of a hassle to export to something else first and then convert to TGA. Is TGA of any interest for you to support ? I know I'd be super happy, and could make faster iterations with the automated export. Simply make a change in a slice, it exports on the fly, go into Unreal Engine and refresh the asset - bang! Done!
  8. Hi everyone... i have some problem exporting an object that have shadow using AD 1.7.3. Basically i have setted the blending mode of the shadow to Multiply and if i try to export the output seems to have blending mode setted to Normal. This is what the document looks like with blending mode setted to Multiply: This is the exported version: To avoid the problem i have to set the blending mode to Normal and try to get the right darken shadow color. 9. Hi there, Have anyone encountered the problem when exporting artboards. Sometimes the export size is off by 1px. I was not able to find why... Here is the export window: ...and here is the size of the artboard: It basically doesn't matter if you select in the export area "Selection" or the specific artboard name. Is this known bug?
  10. First: Affinit Designer is really great - thanks to the Affinity team! (Former-time Corel user, then Inkscape, now switched to Affinity due to CMYK and better color management) My request: I often use Save-As to generate numbered versions of files (as backups, and so that when I discuss them with a client, we can refer to which version we are talking about). In the Save As dialog, it appears that AD defaults to the folder where I last saved anything. This is very tricky when working on files that lie in different folders. To me, the current behaviour is somehow unexpected, and I often accidentially store files in the wrong project's folder. The same happens when exporting, to PDF for instance. I can imagine that people might want to always export all PDFs to a certain folder no matter where the curent file is, so maybe we should also consider this use-case. My suggestion is: 1.) Save As: Default to the folder where the current file lies. 2.) Export (pdf etc, but also for palettes): Default to the folder where I last exported the respective file type when the current document was open. (Maybe its not a good idea to store file paths in documents (like the export paths necessary for 2.). For me, it would be ok if this only works for the last, say, 30 files I worked on, so it could be stored somewhere in the application options storage, not in the document files.) Would this cover all use-cases? Best, Philipp
  11. When exporting PDF, some vector elements are missing. The document has linked native Affinity Designer's files embedded. What is weird that those vector elements are missing from those files. Another problem is that it depends on export settings, for example: Profile: Print - properly is exported only cover page, on following pages, are missing certain vector elements. Profile: Export - it seems ok Does any encountered similar problem. So far I do not see the way around...
  12. I think it's a bug with the artboard sizes. Every time I try to export the selected artboard, it changes its dimension by adding/subtracting 1-2 pixels, which I need to set manually. that's quite irritating. This is happening with all the artboards. Check out the screenshot below where it shows the actual size of the artboard bottom right vs the size it prompts on export panel.
  13. When exporting a vector image to SVG, Designer appears to add hundreds of points to a path that aren't there when editing, causing the exported file to balloon many times the size as one exported from illustrator. For example, the Twitter logo contains 20 points on the path in Designer, but after exporting as a SVG it balloons to 1,554 points! Is there anyway to tell Designer to not add points, and to respect the original layout? This is holding me back from dumping Adobe Illustrator completely, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  14. Hello, I am working on a JavaScript Manuel reference. I created the table of content in Affinity Publisher and the headings get updated automatically. However, when I export it to PDF, I cannot click on the table of content headings to get me to the spesific area of the page. I also tried to add interactivity to it. But I don't know how ? How can I link the headings when I export in PDF ? Thank you Linking-Headings.mp4
  15. In the PDF export process of Affinity Designer, I have a custom Preset. Is there a way that I can export this so that I can bring it back in at a later date if necessary (e.g. after reinstating a system backup)?
  16. When trying to export my publication, I get an error message saying there was an error on exporting to PDF. If I export as a spread, no error. If I do pages, there's an error. It's a 99 page project, I spent an hour exporting ranges of pages and found if I do 1-84, no error, but 1-85 causes an error. I converted everything on p85 to curves and tried again, still an error. Oddly, I can export 85-99 without an error. So, no idea what's going on here. Help! Shadowrun_Genesys_v1_-_Final.afpub Fonts.7z
  17. Would it be possible to allow some of my export slices to ignore certain layers, but others to include them? I'm often working on multi-layered images for use in games, and every time I export i have to turn off specific layers beforehand. I appreciate the current option to set layers to not be exported, but I'd prefer some more power to limit certain layers to certain slices, so I can export the foreground, middle and foreground objects cleanly.
  18. After exporting a document as PDF, the document gets a white border at the edge on top and on the right hand side. This document has an image as background. When I create a vector, color filled rectangle as background and export it as PDF, there are no borders. What is the reason for this behavior? Original page in AD: Page with border after export as PDF: The rectangle PDF version: Untitled.pdf Thanks, Martin
  19. Hey Guys, I was wondering if there is a way to generate random file names when Batch Processing images. Greetings
  20. Hello, New user here to Affinity Photo. I opened and edited 10 jpegs and want to send them to a new folder with the edits I made. I don't see a way to export more than one photo at a time. Am Im missing something? Thanks, Stan.
  21. Is there a way to export global document colors to the SVG in a centralized way? eg. style/linearGradient or solidColor So as to be able to change one line of code and have all affected elements change their color at once! Thanks!
  22. Hi, I created a new document and set the size to 1100 x 1100 pixels (~3.5" x 3.5") and resolution to 300 DPI. I created a few layers and printed the image and it looks great, the size is correct. When I export the *.afdesign file as a PNG and go to print the image it is much larger than 3.5" x 3.5". How do I maintain the same image size and resolution when I export the afdesign to a PNG? Please advise. Thank you, lai1
  23. I'll start by mentioning that I upgraded to Mac OS 10.15.2 yesterday from the previous OS (Mojave). I noticed today that when exporting a photo from Apple Photos, specifically one that I edited in Affinity last year before upgrading to Catalina, it does not reflect the edits I made. The original file was shot in RAW, I used "Edit in Affinity", saved and closed and it created the jpeg in Apple Photos. Before the upgrade, I've successfully exported to both jpeg and png, both with the changes I made in Affinity. What's odd is that the preview in Apple Photos shows my edit, but the export looks like a jpeg made from the RAW, with no edits. I'll say, I haven't made a ton of edits in affinity, but I spot checked others and all but two exported fine today. So what I'm saying is that not everything I've edited in Affinity is having this Photos export issue. Any information would be helpful, as I don't know if there is a missing link after the update or what. I'm not sure if the issue lies with Apple or with Affinity, but I wanted to start here. After the update, I noticed the hierarchy in "Show Package Contents" for my Photos library is not something anyone can easily navigate, so I can't even locate the original or the preview file.
  24. Hi, When you choose to "Save As" for a new document, Affinity Photo defaults to ".afphoto", its native file format. If I wish to "Save As" to a different format, I have to "Export" instead. There may be numerous reasons why this is the default way Affinity Photo works, but it is really annoying. Why can't we choose which method to "Save As" when we, select "Save As", without having to resort to exporting instead? Users complained about this in Gimp for many years. As an artist I save the largest majority of my images, like many do I expect as .jpg, or .png. perhaps even .PSD to be compatible with other people. Occasionally I will use .aphoto, but I have to consider future archival options too. Other software doesn't open .afphoto files either, at least, not yet. Instinctively you head over to "Save As", intending to save your work, then think, "Damn!" and then have to cancel, then select the "Export" option from the menu instead. You might say that I'll get used to it eventually, but I've been using Affinity Photo since it came out and I still fall into the trap. I know that Affinity Photo's native file format is best for Affinity Photo, so it includes all your Adjustments etc, but can't we have the choice? Just a drop down menu like other software like Photoshop where Affinity chooses by default it's propitiatory format, but allows you to select an alternative if necessary? The "Export" option is so unnecessary, not just for me, but everyone I've talked to who uses Affinity Photo. Can we have the option please? Even if it's a option to tick in the Preferences? Thanks, Jay.
  25. I seem to be randomly getting an export error when I go to export a pdf of my work. While I have not yet found what causes these errors (I've resorted to rebuilding these pages because I can't identify what on the page triggers the error), it would be incredibly helpful if instead of just a generic error, publisher would identify which page is actually causing the error. My most recent work is 250 pages long and to sift through each page one at a time, trying to export one at a time, to find which page is bugging out and preventing my entire document from exporting has lost me countless hours and possibly my sanity. So please until this bug is fixed, can you at least make the error message more informative instead of so generic. Let us know which page or pages on our huge document can't be exported so we can move on with it quickly.
