  1. I'd love to purchase Affinity Designer, however, it doesn't solve the one problem that I need solved. That is to export into Xaml format. Xaml is the Visual Studio programmers version of SVG. Solve that one, and I'm sure you'll have lots of developers and/or UX developers wanting a copy of this software. Thanks, Mike
  2. When in the slice persona, you can go through the process of selecting a folder. However, when you select a folder and export there is nothing in the folder and it does not export anywhere. Can export one at a time through the main menu.
  3. When exporting and scaling down an image (in one step) the edges of the single layers are rendered as 1px white lines. This occurs on the vertical edges of the layers and only when using the export persona with scaling (down). These white lines will appear regardless of the interpolation method (bilinear, lanczos) and are not visible while editing in the UI (any zoom). The lines do not appear in 1:1exports and/or with no interpolation at all (nearest neighbour…). The background color of the layers and the background layer are identical rgb(245,245,245), the layers are cut out with antialiasing unchecked and are checked for subpixel-positions, which they initially had (and I expected to be the cause, but apparently they weren't). I also tried: – re-cutting the edges a second time with no atialiasing (which is somewhat pointless due to the downscaling step on export) – nudging the layers a bit via the arrow keys to refresh the transform-panel's readout (subpixel angst) – using all the other interpolation methods – changing the size of the original (which gave me the same weird white edges, see "scaled-down-source-image-w-white-edges.jpg" The attached ui screenshot is zoomed out to show a similar size (thus a little blurry), the original file is ~3200x1670px. Sorry for the very light background, but this is real client work and almost went through without being noticed. The transparency demos are screenshots with hidden background. Mac OS 10.14.6, Affinity Photo 1.7.1, non-Retina 27" iMac 2013, 16 Gig RAM
  4. Hey! Maybe someone can help me on this: I just want to export a layout from Publisher as a PDF/X3 with K-only - or better: a grey only document wherein are shades of K only (from 1% to 100%). Whenever I use the grey color space setting for export - my document color space is set to grey too - it ends up turning greys into CMYK even if a stroke or form is K-only in Publisher... How might I export such a grey (K-only) PDF correctly? All the best, Chris
  5. Hey guys, I designed my pages in AD for my book, now I want to make the final paperback and fixed layout ePub in InDesign, why format should I export each page as to InDesign without loss much quality? the page content images and vectors, I decide to add text in InDesign so I can embed the font for the final export files(print ready pdf and ePub to be publish) and adjust everything nicely in InDesign.
  6. After using the HDR function on a single image, I'm unable to export the image as it looks on my screen. What gets exported is a washed-out version of the image. I've tried this with several different images, and I even went back to the previous version of AP. I watched the tutorial videos on HDR and didn't see anything relating to this. In my screenshot, the image on the left is what I had after exporting, vs the image on the right, as I see it in AP. To get this, I just used File>New HDR Merge, chose a TIFF image, and accepted all the defaults. Then I used File>Export to a 16-bit TIFF. I also tried exporting to a JPG and got the same results. I assume I'm doing something wrong, but after a couple hours of trying to figure it out, it's time to ask for help.
  7. Couldn't find another thread about this, sorry if it's already been addressed. I am using Affinity photo for web design. I exported my file to psd, when I opened it in Photoshop CS6 on a mac, all the text had been rasterized. I have not tried it in Creative Cloud or on a PC. Is this a known "issue", or was that purposeful? I know AP is meant for photographers, but I, and others, would be using it for web design.
  8. howdy :) is there a way to save export settings in affinity photo — make user defined presets? for example, different size .jpegs, resample & quality settings for future use & applications? i dont see an option for this in the export window nor a way to edit/save the default presets thank you! :)
  9. Hi, I've just downloaded the Affinity Designer trial, and am quite impressed. However, I am a design student and my school computers have adobe programs. As far as I can tell, I can't find any way of exporting Designer files as Ai files? I can see the option to export as psd, and I've tried to open Ai files using Designer with no problems - but I wanted to check whether there was a way of exporting to Ai that I had missed. Thanks
  10. I'm having a strange export issue. The polygon and its border look perfect in Designer, but when I export to PNG, the corner gets messed up. I've tried changing the corner's angle, but since I can't duplicate the effect in Designer, I never know if I fixed it or not and need to re-export and look at the PNG to see if anything changed. Left: Designer, Right: Exported PNG
  11. Hi Affinity team I'm trying to export a A0 document I created in Affinity Designer in my new iPad Pro. I need to print it so I created it in 600dpi as requested by the printers. Printers also want it as a PDF file so I'm trying to export it as a PDF. Unfortunately I get a message and a clock saying 'Generating export ... ' but it never does. I can generat the file as JPEG and is 35MB. QUESTIONS : 1- Is there any reason why it doesn't export it as PDF? 2- Does reduce the file's weight by merging all the layers and deleting the ones not needed? Thank you for the support Àgata
  12. I have been trying all of the different options to export to PSD from Affinity Publisher, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Photo, and nothing is working. All it gives me is the message "An error occurred while exporting to: (File location). I just installed all of the latest updates to versions 1.7.2 I've also made sure that all of the layer names are short and simple. I've tried all of the presets for PSD (preserve accuracy, preserve editability, and Final Cut Pro X) Is there something I'm missing? Ultimately, my goal is to export to a file type that can be opened by Adobe programs with he layers in tact. Thanks!
  13. Not a huge problem but the floating studio pallets are on a layer above the export window. If you have things positioned certain ways the pallets can blog the export window buttons and you cannot click them. You can move the pallet of course but I think the Export window should be at the same level as the Save window.
  14. Is it possible to export affinity designer to PSD file with editable text? If yes, how?
  15. I'm still not used to Designer for iPad but it seems the "export option" (not the persona) doesn't work well. It's very unreliable: I have various work areas but when using the Export option it is set to whole document and not let me choose a work area... Unless I first select a work area, then the section to choose areas can be selected when exporting... But the resolutions given by the export option seems to be of the area selected before entering the Export option... It doesn't matter which work area I select inside the Export option (it does export the area chosen in the list but at the resolution of the area (or areas) selected before entering the Export option). Or, for example, I select an object, go inside the Export option and select a work area to export: the resolution is not the correct but it seems related to the object size I selected. Also, if I want to enter the resolution manually for the area to export it is unreliable, even if the lock is on I see it doesn't respect it and gives a wrong resolution for the height or width. The Export option is acting crazy and I can export effectively is what I'm saying. I use an iPad Pro 12.9 (2nd Gen), app and iOS updated.
  16. if something is selected when export the document, Area option should be Selection with background/Selection without background. I prefer Selection without background.
  17. Hi. New on AD. I opened a few times, but still trying to find my way (too long on AI). I exported a 2D drawing from Rhino as a PDF (since AI is not supported). I would like to assign different thicknesses to some of the lines of my drawing. The drawing lines are not joined in Rhino. When I open the PDF in AD the sketch looks to be all merged (using black arrow). Using the white arrow I just have too many nodes in every line to select them one by one, not even sure if this is the way. I would like to ask for help in this matter. Kind regards ,
  18. So I am trying to create images that I can use as assets, not as a layer asset but as a vector image asset. But I am unable to do this. If I in Designer export to say svg or eps I get them as embeded document, and then I cannot save it as an asset. I have tried searching for this and seen many videos, but it seems I am not sure what the correct search is for this problem. I have tried creating all objects so they all become "curves" but that does not seem to help. And I do not want to raster it as that does not make it vector. What is the correct way of saving this as an object/image that I can use as an asset later?
  19. Hi, It would be great to have bleed option for every artboard differently. Like margin, you can set for each artboard different size. Use case: I have lots of different sizes of poster where I using 3mm bleed but when it is too large for example A0 I will make artboard that is only 10% of normal size to don't have a file that has 800Mb. I just want to send small file to printer and there I will enlarged it 10 times. The graphic is 10 time larger but also the bleed. It is not have 3mm now but 30mm. So for this example it will be great to set bleed for this particular artboard only to 0.3mm So it would be great to have possibility set bleed in export persona or just in artboard preferences like margin. Thanks for your hard work cheers
  20. Good morning, I have the problem, that the documents, exporting to PDF ar much darker than in the Affinity Programs. What am I doing wrong? I'd be happy if you could help me. Renate
  21. Hi, I've had this probleem a few times both in Designer and Publisher, where a document just doens't want to export to pdf, in any preset I try. It's always been a document with multiple sized artboards, and some artboards within artboards (which usually doesn't form any problem). When I completely recreate the file from scratch the problem resolves... Is there any way I can find more info other than the error I get for any place I try to export it to? Finder is not the problem as other files save to exactly the same location without error. And it doesn't help to change filename, restart software, restart computer, etc... Thanks! EDIT 1: It looks like it is one text layer that is causing the export error. When I remove the formatting out of that text (I have spent quite some time kerning it, so would prefer not to...!), the error goes away...? When I paste the text with formatting in a new text layer, it gives the error. Both with the artistic text tool, as well as the text frame tool EDIT 2: I have found it! It was referring to an inexisting Font variant... Any way that we can get more information on export errors?
  22. Hi I've noticed the progress bar doesn't really work, the bar is stagnant until the last 5 seconds and then its just done For context on this issue, I'm exporting uncut A2 panels, each page takes 3.3mins, if it gave me a time estimated or showed a time elapsed (for me to remember for next time) or showed an accurate progress bar I would not have to sit around until its done ( This message sounds more frustrating then actually is, its not that bad but, its just one of those things that will make a great product even better). Keep up the great work Kind regards Mike
  23. I have been using Affinity photo for a while now and its been great! All of a sudden a few days ago its started crashing when I try to export both on Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer so I can't export anything do a different file. I need help with this ASAP as I use this for my work often. I have a MacBook Pro 2016 touch bar v10.12.5. I am running Affinity 1.5.2. I'm pasting top lines from error report if it helps. ____________________________________________ Process: Affinity Photo [706] Path: /Applications/Affinity Photo.app/Contents/MacOS/Affinity Photo Identifier: com.seriflabs.affinityphoto Version: 1.5.2 (1.5.3) App Item ID: 824183456 App External ID: 821350282 Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? 24. Hello, I recently noted that when I import some (not all) RAW photos and hit the "Develop" button, some weird artifacts have occurred and are very noticeable even after the export at max quality. If I do the exact same process on AP on Mac, the export is perfectly clean and without any weird colours or artifacts. I’ve attached an example of photo that looks good when in AP and changes when exported to JPG. On the right side of the screenshot, there is the exported picture opened on the floating window of Apple Photo. The photo was shot with a Nikon D7000. Thanks for your help! EDIT: after re-installing the app on the iPad it seems to work perfectly and no noise or artifacts can be spotted on the same RAW files I was testing. What's the reason for this?
  25. I'm sure this is a simple task, Sorry to bother...I'm just getting started with Affinity, moving from CSS5. I have several photos loaded, have edited. I want to automate saving and closing the files. Seems I need to export. I tried creating a batch, but it seems as opposed to PS, batches apparently do not work on already loaded and edited photos (at least not that I can tell). So I tried creating a macro, but it said a macro cannot export. Any suggestions?
