  1. I noticed that the ripple filter won't publish to PDF in export. ripple.pdf Ripple.afpub
  2. In publisher I use 'spreads' view. The printing company wants me to set a 1 mm bleed and export as pages instead of spreads (option: 'all pages' on export page). The thing is that my exported PDF shows the inside bleed of the next page instead of its own. Same for the next page (shows bleed from previous page). [see picture] I'm no expert in publishing but this looks weird from my point of view. Is this the normal behaviour or is it a bug? I want to be sure before sending my file for printing. Thank you
  3. Hi, i know this topic was already suggested elsewhere, however devs never answered any of these threads, nor commented on this feature at all. So here we go again. I work as a UI designer, which mostly includes web design. Therefore I need a way to share my work with non-designer programmers. Not just exports but other stuff like typography, dimensions, margins etc. Other software integrates with services like Avocode or Zeplin (namely Photoshop, Sketch). This makes Affinity much less useful for web designer as I am pressed to hand all the information over to web developers. So I would like to know whether Serif devs plan to include such integration or release its own solution. This is an essential feature for designers like me and very long time overdue. Please, Serif, comment on this finally.
  4. Hi, Is there a way to export just a section (as defined in the section manager) in Publisher? Many thanks, Bert
  5. I would like to have Export Persona in Publisher as well.
  6. I'm trying to export a simple design that I made using Vector brushes to PNG format, but the design always end up being exported in pixels instead of vector, I tried searching for some answers online but I didn't find anything, I tried exporting it in other formats and while it did bring better results, it still lost some of its quality when exported, please help. 7. Dear Affinity, We are loving Designer and enjoying the transition from Adobe for all the three products. However, for us, a key feature that's missing is the ability in Designer to import/export .dxf files. Back in 2015 (I think) we requested this as a feature request but it's still not implemented. Any idea if/when it might be arriving? It's really vital for our workflow as we work with imports/exports for CAD. Edward
  8. Hi all, I recently updated to Affinity Photo 1.7.1.404 from 1.6.5.x through the Windows Store and now every image that I open, whether it's an *.afphoto, DNG, JPEG, PNG etc., opens way too dark. Documents created in previous versions are also rendered way too dark but are exported with the right colours and brightness, while new documents result in overly exposed images, more like as if the gamma went through the ceiling. The samples available in the Welcome screen also seem to not match the snapshots available on the Windows Store. From the same snapshots I also noticed that the icon for the Photo persona also seems darker. The "Color" panel also gets way too dark. My device: Windows Store snapshot: Software configurations: I tried running the trial version of Affinity Photo 1.6.5 (got it from the Downloads page) and the problem now seems to happen there as well My device is the Dell XPS 9570, running Windows 10 1903 with Intel UHD Graphics 630 (driver version 25.20.100). This issue also affects Affinity Designer but every other app on my system works just fine. Ideas?
  9. Hi all! I'm using Affinity products for a long time, but I'm posting for a first time in the forums. Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I don't know how to handle it... There is my problem: I got a project with many components in it. I'm working in Publisher. For the main content I made a polygon shape, but I've decided to decorate the sides of it whit vector shapes which I put like a mask in the big polygon. And there comes the problem: when I try to export it in PDF there is a shadow from the decoration that isn't suppose to be visible and a part of the small polygons. I've try to rasterise it but the quality becomes too bad. The first picture is how it has to be, the 2-nd is with the problem (with the arrows). Any ideas how to fix it and what may be the problem (I guess the vectors but I don't know why)? Thanks in advance.
  10. Hello, I found an issue when exporting a PNG file. If you set transparency to a stroke, that specific stroke will be thinner when exported to PNG. To reproduce this, try the following: - create two rectangles with "rectangle" tool - set the interior of the rectangles to white - set the stroke of the rectangles to green for example - put the rectangles one above the other as in attached image (one of them will serve as a "control" rectangle) - for the top rectangle set the stroke opacity to 50% (only for the stroke) - select both rectangles, go to - File - Export - PNG - Selection without background - the result should be as in the attached image From what I experienced, this issue appear only if you export "Selection without background" and only if that specific stroke is on the exterior of the artwork. I use Affinity Designer 1.7.1.404 on Windows 10.
  11. The export dialog has a number of things that can cause issues in a game development workflow. When using illustrator, to export all I would need to do was go to export (Save to Web) and click "clip to artboard" if I wanted to keep the dimensions of the canvas or not if I wanted to crop to the content. If I wanted a background fill I would add one as a layer, otherwise the background of the exported image would be transparent. This method of exporting was very fast and allowed for quick asset creation, not just sprites but for things like particles. In Affinity Designer, this process is so much slower and prone to mistakes due to the required extra steps to accomplish the same thing. First, the settings default to "Whole Document", this sounds ok until you find out this means that it will export a fill/background for you. In order to change that you need to have things selected that will what's to be export as it doesn't just assume you want to export everything, like illustrator does (unless I'm doing something wrong). This means you have to close the export dialog (it's a modal), select the parts you want to export, and open the export again. Having the option to export only selected is a GREAT feature and would be great for making UIs, where you need to export them piece meal but having it as a default slows down the process in most cases. Also, if a layer/object is locked you can't select it, slowing the process down further. Then if you want to export without a background you can now change "Whole Document" to "Selection Without Background", again, if I wanted a background fill, I would have added one myself. While I'm changing these options, the above "size" fields are changing appropriately, this also causes issues. Cropping the the content to exported is a very helpful feature, but often times in game developement you want/need to export images of a certain size (namely, power of 2 size images for compression. Can also be needed to match pivot points of sprites). So an example occurence can be: Export. Realise I don't have the parts selected correctly. Close export, make selections, open export again. Select "selection without background" as transparency is a neccessity in most cases. By now the size fields have changed but I need to export the whole document size (for compression, pivots, sprite swaps etc). Have to manually adjust size fields for whole document. Save. The amount of time this can take, the number of opportunities to get it wrong, resulting in having to go back and start over and the fact that you can have to go through this process dozens of times a day, makes the export window a problem for game developers. This window I'm sure works just fine for artwork/mock-ups etc but it really does slows the game asset workflow down a lot.
  12. In the Export Persona, when exporting an image for the web and you want the size as small as possible, you want to see a preview of what you will be exporting. So you can change the quality of a jpeg and see instantly what the result will be. The same when you change the number of colors in the palette of gifs and pngs. Also show the sizes in bytes of the slices you are exporting. The size is shown in the simple Export, but not in the more advanced Export Persona. Fireworks does this very well, it even has multiple previews with different export settings.
  13. Hi all, I can't be sure I'm not missing something, but it seems that when exporting a multiple-artboard document via the Export persona I'll always get a single page giant PDF, while when using the Export dialog I always get a mutliple-page document (which is actually what I want). So... can I use the Export persona to get a multiple-page PDF at all? Thanks in advance for any insights.
  14. It is an inadmissible waste of time that when exporting a file, for example tif, always appears 8 bit, when I always export 16bit and have to display the list and change it each and every time. How can I make my default file format appear first in the list? Thank you
  15. Hi, I recently migrated from illustrator, so I'm not sure if my question is even valid. I built up a document with layers, but after I exported it to PDF using the PDF (export) profile, and opened the generated PDF file, every info on the layer arrangement is lost. Acrobat also doesn't show the layers. I appreciate your help.
  16. Please add an option to control eps format. AD rasterize all objects with gradient & transparency. PostScript level 3 is compatible with gradient, Illustrator or even Inkscape can export eps with gradient without rasterzing it. Also Illustrator can export objects with transparency as divided shapes instead of rasterizing it. Refer Illustrator's option panel
  17. Hi, It would be great to have bleed option for every artboard differently. Like margin, you can set for each artboard different size. Use case: I have lots of different sizes of poster where I using 3mm bleed but when it is too large for example A0 I will make artboard that is only 10% of normal size to don't have a file that has 800Mb. I just want to send small file to printer and there I will enlarged it 10 times. The graphic is 10 time larger but also the bleed. It is not have 3mm now but 30mm. So for this example it will be great to set bleed for this particular artboard only to 0.3mm So it would be great to have possibility set bleed in export persona or just in artboard preferences like margin. Thanks for your hard work cheers
  18. When exporting a vector image to SVG, Designer appears to add hundreds of points to a path that aren't there when editing, causing the exported file to balloon many times the size as one exported from illustrator. For example, the Twitter logo contains 20 points on the path in Designer, but after exporting as a SVG it balloons to 1,554 points! Is there anyway to tell Designer to not add points, and to respect the original layout? This is holding me back from dumping Adobe Illustrator completely, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  19. Hi, I'm having a problem similar to the one described in the thread here. I want to export my line art which is a vector (see screenshot ‘Before import’) from Affinity Designer to Affinity Photo in order to colour. I export in a PNG format, import into Affinity Photo, zoom in and that's when I notice the lines look really jagged (see screenshot ‘After export with colour’). I understand that the vector gets turned into pixels during export, but I want to make the lines look smoother. Before using Affinity Designer and Photo, I was working with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. My workflow back then was to export the vector from Illustrator as a PNG 'without background' to Photoshop. In Affinity Designer I have tried different PNG preset settings (see screenshot ‘Export settings’) including PNG-24 Bilinear, Bicubic, Lanczos 3 (separable), Lanczos 3 (non-separable) all ‘without background’ selected. But all resulted in the same jagged line. I tried the solutions mentioned in the thread above. However when I click ‘Force pixel alignment’ the quality in Affinity Photo doesn’t seem to change. Would someone on the support team know if I need to do something different in Affinity Designer so that when I import the vector in Affinity Photo there’s not a noticeable difference?
  20. Hi there, PDF export (default) crashes again and again. I don't have the time to change any option, it crashes immediately. Even after a reboot. Export on JPG or PSD are ok. A3 page created with 1.7.0 (afdesign file is 55,3Mo). I've tried with a smaller file created with the previous 1.6.4 and the PDF export went ok (all options by default). I went back to the "A3 file" and it crashes during the export, when I confirmed the destination... Thanks!
  21. Hi Affinity Team Would it be possible to add functionality to export all the layers from a document to separate files? (especially in Affinity Photo) We often get multilayer .psd's from our clients containing a bunch of supers and splashes that we need to animate on TVC's, and we always need to export each layer out as a separate image file. In PS there is a "script" called "Export layers to files" but it is quite limited regarding file formats and saving options. So I request the addition of a "Export layers to separate files" check box in the export dialog for all formats. And regarding the naming of the outputted files then it could be just as simple as "documentName_layerName.ext". Good work so far, I'm really looking forward for the official release of Affinity Photo Cheers /johs

    Export Crash

Experienced a crash in Designer 1.7 when exporting a PDF document. I'm not exactly sure what caused the crash, but I will explain what I did. When setting up a simple PDF document (an invoice for a client), I pressed the export shortcut (cmd+option+shift+E). The finder window popped up. I selected the 'PDF (For Print) from the preset menu. I then navigated to the desired folder containing other PDF documents similar to the one I was exporting. I clicked on one of the other PDF files already in the folder (Invoice #323) to save my new document with the same name as the PDF in the folder, but change it from "Invoce #323" to "Invoice #324" before exporting so as not to replace the existing PDF. As soon as I clicked 'Export' my app window disappeared and the software crashed. I have not been able to recreate this crash, so it might just have been a once off thing, but it may be worth looking into.
  23. Hello, I am unable to preserve an opacity gradient (transparency tool in designer) applied at the group level when exporting to svg format. With option "rasterize unsupported properties", I get a rasterize image With option "rasterize nothing", the gradient disappear Is it a some workaround ? Thanks for your help. gradient.afdesign
  24. Hi all! The export persona with the possibility to define slices is already a great feature. I'm looking for the possibility to set the aspect ratio per slice independently of the pixel. One slice in 16:9, another in 9:7 ... and then I want select the size/area with the mouse. I don't find this possibility. Can anyone help me? Thanks Manu
  25. Adobe Illustrator unifies multiple shapes that is identical(Symbol) into single data when export SVG. This makes SVG a lot smaller. Would be nice if you could implement this. Also an option for simplifying shapes will be useful like SVGO's Precision option or AI's Decimal option.
