  1. Is there anyone here who creates illustrations for stock sites like Getty or Shutterstock and has figured out a way to reliably export a usable EPS version 10 file? I have tried EPS, PDF, and SVG with no luck. It is so unreliable, even using just flat colors (because gradients can really be a problem), that it's often easier just using Illustrator instead. I know there is this strange thing about Adobe playing nice with others in regard to the allowing of exporting an ai file (if that makes sense) but they seem fine with the export of psd files. Thanks Bill
  2. I can not believe there was no export capability to produce an Epub2 file, let alone an eub3 file that meets the Daisy Consortium standards.
  3. If I create an artboard with a slash in its name (“8 1/2 x 11 Artboard” for example), then when I export that slice in the Export persona, anything before the slash becomes a new folder (“8 1”) and anything after becomes part of the file name (“2 x 11 Artboard.pdf” for example). It seems like your developers are not ‘escaping’ the slash when submitting the file name to the file system. For now, I’ve resorted to going decimal (“8.5 x 11 Artboard”) and that works fine.
  4. Hi, I'm just getting started with Affinity Photo after using Photoshop for a long time, so I might have completely overlooked the solution, but here's what I'm trying to achieve: I would like to export a slice of my photos at a set resolution (N x M pixels), but I cannot figure out how if it's possible. I've seen the other hardcoded values, but is there a way to create my own? Thanks! Robert
  5. Width and height dimensions in exported files have a value of 100%. Sometimes values are needed in pixels. You must then change them in a text editor. Is it possible to enter an additional option in the "Export Options" panel that enables widtch and height values expressed in pixels?
  6. Could this please be made clearer in Affinity Publisher's "help" or even on the PDF dialogues? I needed to create a multi-page A5 folded brochure. My commercial printing service wanted the PDF to contain "separate pages" rather than "spreads." As someone who is new to commercial printing, it was not obvious how to translate the language of the printer's requirements into language used by Affinity. To clarify: Affinity's "All Spreads" PDF exports eg. facing pages of a booklet as double-page spreads; but how they are viewed... ie. not arranged for printing. Affinity's "All Pages" PDF exports eg. facing pages of a booklet as a series of single pages, in consecutive order. Unlike PagePlus, Affinity Publisher does not appear to have a mode which exports pages arranged to suit printing. 7. When I have a lot of slices like 20, and while scrolling down the options slices, the whole app freezes and just goes no responding. This problem has been there for a while and it's very annoying. I attached the image and my work file. Card Design.afdesign
  8. I'm a videogame artisti and it happens many times that I have to export single layers or groups of layer that contains the various assets for the game. But if I decide to use some adjustment layers to modify the whole document when I export the single layers to png they lose the adjustments and I don't want every time to apply singularly a copy of these adjustment to every asset I export. Is there a way to keep into consideration the global adjustment layers when exporting part of a drawing? Thank you for answering ;)
  9. Hi there, I'm trying to export a layer as an SVG, but when I open the finished product, there is a border around it (I think it is from the artboard). Wondering if I can set it so every layer can be exported without a square border around it. More detail: I have a file setup as a grid of artboards (see attached) and I want those objects (with no border) exported as an SVG. Looking something like this: Switching to Export Persona, I have slices of every artboard and in this case select "Page 1" to export as an SVG. I can see that every slice has a little symbol of a pentagon and a circle surrounded by a purple square border. I've seen in tutorials that this symbol can be just the shapes colored yellow (this is what I expect I want to have in this case). So the Exporting looks like this: After saving it off and opening the resulting SVG file, I end up with the desired objects from the layer, but I also have a rectangle surrounding the whole thing. It looks like I can delete it manually and save it off again to just get the objects in the layer. I'm wondering how to set it so I don't get a border of where the artboard was in my outputted SVG. So I want to stop exporting the highlighted rectangle: Let me know if you need clarification. Thanks in advance for your help. Here's a test file: svg_export_testing.afdesign Best, Zach
  10. I have a number of multi-page AFPUB files that make up various parts of a ~200 page book. I know there's no 'Book' feature - like InDesign - but wondered if there's any way to batch the export-to-pdf stage? I'm thinking similar to how you might use the Batch feature in AF Photo - to save me exporting each one-by-one. I can automate the newly-created PDF's to merge to one whole after this easily enough - although a 'Book' setup to do this all in one process would be really awesome... Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance.
  11. Hello there, So I'm a website designer, and I would like to design in Affinity Designer more. I found a problem though that is preventing me from doing that full-time...When I export my files to PSD (for handing over to developers) and open them in Photoshop, the text layers appear as image/raster layers and aren't editable. Please help. This is a very important issue for me to resolve. I cannot proceed with using Affinity Designer if our dev team can't edit the texts. Other than this, I am really loving this software. Please help. Thanks, Eli
  12. Dear Serif and the Affinity Photo dev team... THANK YOU SO MUCH! I fired up the Customer Beta that I keep installed along side my regular release of AP. Imagine my surprise when I checked the export options and saw .TGA as an export option! I'll be running around work tomorrow like a lunatic informing every single artist about this! Additionally, There's going to be more than a few of our tech supervisors that are going to be excited as well. I'm hoping studio management gets around to upgrading to Affinity Photo before the end of the week!
  13. Hi all. I'm having trouble getting a transparent background on an exported PNG. I'm using AD on ipad. Here's the scenario: I've imported a .ai file of a speech bubble and want to export 'as-is' as a transparent PNG. When I export the file, I'm seeing the bubble as a square image with a grid in in the background (see screenshot - blue background) Here's what I've tried. Each time, I get this grid in the background: 1. Gone to file -> Canvas -> set 'Transparent Canvas' 2. Deselected all. Export persona -> selected top level slice (whole page) -> selected PNG -> exported 3. Pixel persona -> Selected all -> Export -> select PNG -> Area: 'Whole Document" 4. Pixel persona -> Selected all -> Export -> select PNG -> Area: 'Selection without background" I'm really confused. I would have thought that the image has transparency by default. Why is AD adding this grid background (which in my limited, novice's understanding normally represents transparency)?? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
  14. I am trying to print a document which has previously printed successfully. While text prints successfully, images appear as blocks or line of black or grey. A warning message has appeared saying that resources have been changed outside the application, but fixing this in resource manager makes no difference, nor does updating affinity photo which supplied the images. Print previews appear as expected, but when sent to the printer or exported as pdf the problem becomes apparent. I have attached the publisher file, the result of exporting to pdf and two of the images which seem to have a problem. 15. Hi guys, Affinity Designer ( Latest Version ) Macbook pro 2018. So I am making labels for a meat factory in Iceland. I noticed a problem when i exported the project ( PDF for print ) The outlines go missing. The print factory head designer called me and told me that he just got boxes instead of perfectly shaped outlines. I have pictures that show, The project how it looks and with "outline view mode". and a photo after export and with "outline view mode" The printing factory wants to see the outlines to make sure that the printers will not make mistakes. I have tried all the things I know, exporting with different settings, making everything as curves, and blablabla. Please tell me how to fix this :) Thanks, -Geir.
  16. I have created a new documet in AP and Placed an image into it. Upon creating text, I find that once exported (.jpeg and regardless of export location) there is digital noise surrounding that text. The only work around I have found is to apply one of the Styles to the background in order to hide that noise, which is not convient for what I want to do. I am working at 1200 px x 628 px, Dpi 72. Which are all pretty standard for web exports. Solution(s)? (See attachment)
  17. Hello, my first day after registration and so on my first question. I´ve made a single File with different Artboards and want to export these as a single PDF File. How can I export (in Affinity Designer -iPad) these Artboards to a single PDF File with Individuals Pages? In the quick export menu, the drop-down button "Bereich" (Area) is grey, so I can´t select the individuals Artboards at all. With the Export Persona I can´t export in general. I´ve created for each Artboard a Slice but after i´ve tried to export them I only can choose the folder and not save them. Is there a Bug with the Export Persona for iPad? Thank You for help
  18. This happened to me after trying affinity designer ipad for one week with no problem, suddenly the export won't work. when i try to export artboard(s), it opened the Files App but it looks like Files App got wrong command, no "ok" button (see video). now I'm stuck with export button (in dropdown menu, nit from slice) and it's so annoying because i have to export multiple artboard one by one. i tried reinstalling the Files app but it doesn't get normal, haven't tried reinstalling the affinity designer app. please help. 9A7525E6-43A2-4B66-A202-C8D4E58F49DF.MP4
  19. First off, let me say that I love, LOVE Affinity Photo. Serif has made an incredible application that made moving away from PHotoshop CC so very easy. I typically use AP for working with textures in a 3D modelling and texturing workflow. A number of other applications that I use rely heavily on the Targa (.tga) file format. With Affinity Photo, I must currently export the texture I'm working on in a file format that supports an alpha channel, import it into another application, then export it again as .TGA. Is there any way we could see a .TGA export feature soon? I know AP allows me to import targa, but I would love to be able to export it as well without having to use another app. Please keep up that amazing work you've been doing! I can't praise you guys enough!
  20. It doesn't matter what I copy, Designer always rasterizes it into a png for my clipboard. This is hyper annoying.
  21. How do I export with the Export persona? I choose a folder but it never gives me the option of ‘Open’ so I always have to cancel. I can’t even export manually now with this one file. When I go to the export dialogue box, my only option is to export the entire document, not just an Artboard. What am I missing? Or is it a bug with the program? Any help is appreciated. This has never worked (properly) for me since I got the program 6 months ago. Thanks. 5626AEB4-3701-424C-A02B-DF8C72E57294.MP4
  22. I am trying to export SVG files from Affinity Designer and bring them into a range of programs for generating tabs / notches and then outputting for laser cutting. In Adobe Illustrator it is very simple - you set the document units to mm, design something with specific dimensions, and export your SVG. What comes out will be interpreted by other software, and by the laser cutter at the exact dimensions. With Affinity Designer, I've spent hours troubleshooting and digging through the forums and no matter what I do dimensions seem to vary depending on the DPI and all sorts of other options, and even slices of objects with the same height will export at different dimensions. It makes it practically impossible to predict what size your object will be. (as an aside, I thought DPI was completely irrelevant to vector - why is it even an option in a vector format?!) So is reliable scale something Affinity Designer just can't do? How are people delivering documents for print if they don't know how the printer will interpret the dimensions of their final files? I dumped Creative Cloud, bought the Affinity hoping to replace AI and now am faced with going back to Creative Cloud and getting stung with higher fees as a result of leaving. For my line of work this seems like really simple stuff...
  23. This doesn't happen on normal export to PDF. This doesn't happen on export to x-1 or x-4. This only happens on exporting to x-3 PDF to the best of my testing ability When you have an image background and then overlay a transparent image, the overlapping pixels become slightly miscolored. Not enough to jump out, but enough that if sent to a professional printer, it will be visible on the page. I've attached a quick af.pub file and a screenshot taken from my PDF viewer (chrome) of this afpub file exported to X-3 PDF standard. To recreate 1) Create af.pub 2) Find a solid color image (doesn't need to be solid color, but easier to see this way) 3) Place solid color image on master page 4) In page mode, place an image that has transparency (PNG, etc.) over the background image. 5) Export to x-3:PDF standard, open and look at the overlayed image transparent pixels pdf_transparency_miscoloration_x3.zip
  24. [Last exception 2100 in PDF_clip]["Function must not be called in 'page' scope"] Error happens on both x1a and x3. X4 (and normal PDF) works fine. I believe I know the problem - transparent images. x4 supports transparent images, but x1a and x3 doesn't. I need to export to either x1 or x3 for my print-on-demand provider. Can we flatten/rasterize any transparent images with page background so we can have a x1 or x3 compliant PDF? I'm using PNG files with transparencies as linked resources. thanks
  25. I create greeting cards in affinity designer and get them ready for print. I make 2 artboards with bleed, and export them in PDF format. However when i check the file it shows part of the document completely blank. I've tried changing settings and export methods but it keeps on exporting a blank page. Is there a way to fix this? Does anyone know what's causing this? The full file: (i blacked out the designs for the screenshot) And this is what the PDF looks like: Completely blank..
