  1. This post relates to this discussion in regards to anti-aliasing: Here is why the "workaround" for anti-aliasing removal in exports as shown here does not work for me (or at least I do not know how to make it work...). I use AD for designing t-shirts which I upload in a PNG24 format to several websites. Most print on demand providers don't want any transparency in the uploaded files. Although the workaround via the "Coverage Map" in the "Blend Options" works on simple shapes, it does not seem to work as soon as masking or clipping come into play. I have created 4 donuts (PNG24 export): Donut 1) No anti-aliasing workaround used Donut 2) Anti-aliasing workaround used (no masking or clipping used - just the normal "fill"-option was used) Donut 3) Anti-aliasing workaround used on masked donut Donut 4) Anti-aliasing workaround used on clipped donut (textured clipped mask for "see through effect (layer used to mask with has the same blend options of course) As expected anti-aliasing was implemented on donut 1 after the export. The workaround works great on donut 2 as you can see. But when donut 3 is masked, transparent pixels appear on the export although the workaround was implemented on every object layer. Donut 4 was clipped. As you can see the border of the donut is fine (no anti-aliasing) but the textured mask (which has the same coverage map settings for "no anti-aliasing" of course) appears with transparent borders on the "see through"-parts. Am I doing something wrong? A simple "turn anti-aliasing on and off button" would be such a helpful option in my opinion. Since I create designs with allot of shapes and strokes it is a big pain to have to manually select all object layers and then set the right blend options every time. This would be a great new feature, since this topic seems to be discussed/ requested for years now. Here is the AD file if you want to have a look Anti-Aliasing Demo.afdesign Lookin g forward to your replies y'all Cheers!
  2. Hey guys, whenever I export in PNG-24 AD turns pixels into transparent pixels although I don't use transparency in AD itself. I have attached a picture of the exported PNG-24 file and the design in AD. I want to export in PNG format without transparency - how is this possible? I hope you guys can help Cheers!
  3. Is there any way to specify specific output resolutions using the export persona? I'd like to specify exports of specific slices at 1920x1080 for example (which are the same 16:9 ratio as my original files, but at 1920x1080 would be smaller than the original). There are currently 1x , 2x 3x, etc sizes as well as a 100px width option, but I can't seem to find a way to enter my own desired size.
  4. Two “Save” issues: 1) With both Affinity Designer, and Photo, the "Share" button will not work. It has been this way on my iPad Pro for several revisions of both programs. I was expecting a bug fix, but it hasn't happened yet. The Share button will depress, but nothing happens. If I press it a second time quickly, it will not depress again. If I wait 10 seconds or so, it will depress again, but still nothing happens. 2) The second problem is regarding the Export of slices in Affinity Designer. No matter what I try, it will only open iOS's "Files" app, but the option to save anything does not appear. I can change and traverse folders. I always select Designer folder "On My iPad" that I have saved other works in from affinity, but no save button appears ... you only have the default functions of the Files app. iPad Pro 2 512 iOS 11.X Designer 1.6.4.45 Photo 1.6.10.83 BTW ... does anyone know if there is a way to directly save to the iOS’s Photo app when using picture formats? I have a workaround but it is cumbersome. Thanks
  5. Hi guys, My affinity designer crashes as soon as i open the export dialog box but only when the it is defaulted to PSD. if I choose eps, the file will export just fine albeit slow. I am using both vector and pixel persona (heavier on pixel persona) My client is requesting an psd file. help. I did not attach the file here due to size Thanks in advance E
  6. Hi I have problem about file export. I was try to drag file from export page as ”EPS” into shutterstock website but it shown that the file was ”.svg.ps” instead of ”eps”. cheers,
  7. Hey there guys. I couldn't find a topic regarding this, I'll just try to describe what I am talking about. :) Not sure if this is a question or a feature request either. Lets say I have a few adjustment layers on top of several motives. I want to export every motive in a separate file with the adjustment layers on top. Like a series: motive_a.jpg, motive_b.jpg, motive_c.jpg, and so on. Right now I only can do this by toggling the motive layers on and off every time I want to export a different one. I’d like to assign what layers to export per slice. I'm aware of the feature to create a slice for exporting one specific layer even if other layers are turned on (so they’re kinda getting ignored), but I'm looking for something similar … like different slices for every motive plus the general adjustment layers. Like this: Slice 1: export layer 1 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 2,3 and 4 Slice 2: export layer 2 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,3 and 4 Slice 3: export layer 3 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,2 and 4 Slice 4: export layer 4 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,2 and 3 … Sorry if this sounds stupid, but does anyone understand what I’m talking about? :D It would make exporting much more efficient in situations like these or even more complex ones, I think. Like you configure it once and hit export all and don't have to change the visibility for every motive. I’ll attach an example file with named layers and slices … maybe that'll help understand what I'm talking about. Maybe there’s even a solution that I don't know yet. Would be handy in Affinity Designer as well as Affinity Photo. Example – Layer Selection Export.afphoto Greetings Dennis
  8. Hey everyone! I'm unsure whether or not this is a bug. When exporting slices, they have to be set to retina (2x) in order to get the intended full resolution. Besides being an extra step, this unnecessarily adds "@2" prefixes to all the slices even though it's just supposed to be at once the resolution chosen on file creation. Best wishes, Shu
  9. Hey everyone! It would be great if there was an option within the export persona to make, for example, this: Group A (Group) Group 1 (Group) Shape 1 (Vector) Shape 2 (Vector) Group 2 (Group) Shape 3 (Vector) Shape 4 (Vector) Group 3 (Group) Shape 5 (Vector) Shape 6 (Vector) Group 4 (Group) Shape 7 (Vector) Shape 8 (Vector) Group B (Group) Shape 9 (Vector) to that: Group A (Group) Group 1 (Pixels) Group 2 (Pixels) Group 3 (Pixels) Group 4 (Pixels) Group B (Group) Shape 9 (Pixels) Best wishes, Shu
  10. Hey everyone! When I want to export layers, most of the time, I need the full file resolution. Exporting like that would be much more efficient if there was a shortcut for using the document bounds for the current slice or an option for automatically assign document bounds for new slices. Best wishes, Shu
  11. Hey everyone! It would be useful if there was an option to only show the selected slice. Personally, I need to export slices at full file resolution and having hundreds of slices on top of each other overlaps their header, so I cannot read it. Besides that, I ran into performance problems at about 100 slices, which may be somewhat better without so much overdraw. Best wishes, Shu
  12. When I export a file (converted to PDF) to upload to a service (in this case VistaPrint) the PDF file never fits the template corectly. I have used dimensions prescribed by VistaPrint to no avail. I have tweaked and tweked setting but it seems impossible to make the image fit in the template correctly. Can anyone help resolve this issue?
  13. Hello everyone, I really love Export Persona in Affinity Designer - I work a lot with several image sizes for social networks, so I made up a template with several slices, one for each of my usual "destinations". I've found that I can easily put slice name and sizes in exported image file name, and this helps me a lot when exporting several slices, and it's really great. Do you know if there's a way to put current Affinity Designer file name in the exported image file name? Or, as an alternative, is there a way to set "global" user variables, that I can automatically put in file names when I export slices? thanks in advance, gerlos
  14. I'm sure this is a simple task, Sorry to bother...I'm just getting started with Affinity, moving from CSS5. I have several photos loaded, have edited. I want to automate saving and closing the files. Seems I need to export. I tried creating a batch, but it seems as opposed to PS, batches apparently do not work on already loaded and edited photos (at least not that I can tell). So I tried creating a macro, but it said a macro cannot export. Any suggestions?
  15. When I export from APhoto, I seem to lose a significant amount of definition in my images. If I compare the image, after developing and processing in Develop and Photo Personas, on the screen with the saved image there is an obvious difference. This is true if I export to JPEG or TIFF. I am probably missing something, but can't see what it is ........
  16. In GIMP, when you import/open an image, you can make your edit(s) to said image and then immediately export it in it's original format with a simple hotkey or with two (2) simple clicks (File > Overwrite "example-image.jpg"). You can see this in the image attached. Please implement this feature or tell me how I can do something similar in no more than 2 actions. It GREATLY improves workflows of this nature. Thanks in advance.
  17. Hello. Do you plan to add DXF and/or DWG export option? I need it for exporting logos to AutoCAD drawings as curves. Older AutoCADs (and probably some other CAD software) cannot import SVG, PDF etc. I exported as DXF from Corel years and years ago :). Thank you.
  18. Hi guys; I'm think it's is a bug; not sure if it was my mistake, but I assume that it's a bug; When I export a Affinity file to PDF with a square size (image 1, you can see it's 600 x 600 px file), and try to re-open the file in Affinity, the file looses proportion and adds a strange blank border; it's the same file re-opened and you see it's not making a 800x800 px file, but a 801,3 x 800 file with this litle blank border (image 2). I'm not tagging bleeding or trim marks to add when I'm making the exportation (image 3) and i't appear to be kind random this blank border adding thing (image 4; it's a third party PDF viewer, so you can see how random is). Is it possible a bug? Thanks guys
  19. I have text on a flyer which contains umlaute. AD displays it correct. After export into a PDF the umlaute are replaced by a functional char (see attachment original and result). Of course I can rasterize all the text, but I don't want it in this case. I attached a printscreen from the export configuration as well. Thanks
  20. Hi. This is an old, old, old solved bug returning on 1.6.1 If I duplicate an artboard and change the name, its associated export slice retains the old name. Also, changing existing artboard name doesn't change slice's one. It is happening randomly. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not, I can't find a pattern to give you steps to reproduce. Not sure if is a general issue or is triggered by something. I suspect it happens on documents created in the previous version. It seem to work correctly on documents created directly on 1.6.1 Feel free to request further info or a problematic document.
  21. Well i'm a bit surprised that some issues are coming back to the surface but maybe it's on my side ! 1- Have noticed my exports get blurry every time : tried to design in A3 then export in A4 then A5 size (PNG: is my mostly used - TIFF or PDF) which was working like a charm in previous release but now they get blurry 2- Went to my Affinity Preferences and now i see : Display (OpenGL, OpenGL Basic, Software) .... Never touched this before so i would like to know if changing one of this would fix the issue and what each one is or supposed to do. 3- What is Dither gradient ? Would it help ? in what conditions ? Just remember that the blurriness disappeared with one of the updates (can't recall which one) but now it's back ! So, Your help and support would be appreciated helping me fix this and get back on the road.
  22. Hello all, I designed a logo and used the outer shadow effect, Radius is set to 0 px. (see picture below) My expectation was, when exporting this to a PDF x4, that this shadow still is a vector element. When zooming in the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat, I can see that the effect was rasterized. In the PDF export preferenced, "Rasterize: Unsupported elements" is activated. Switching this option to "Rasterize: Nothing" will result in a PDF file without any shadow. Is there any way to keep effects as vector elements like in Adobe Illustrator? Thanks for your hints! I'm using Designer 1.6.1 on Mac OS X Regards, Holger
  23. Hey everyone! I'm not sure if this happens when using other Affinity software, but when exporting to .psd, Photo on iPad deletes empty layers and a layer if it has solid color and is placed as last layer and sets its color as background color. Please don't assume empty layers could be deleted or a solid color layer should be converted to background color. This is quite inconvenient. Best wishes, Shu
  24. When trying to export slices in the Export persona, exporting works perfectly fine to iCloud Drive, but absolutly not to google drive.
  25. I have many artboards in Affinity Designer (more than 50) Each artboard will be a single page in a PDF document that I will export. As I understand it there are two routes to exporting PDFs: File > Export > PDF Make a slice for each artboard, and export each page as separate PDF The first option is problematic because in the exported PDF, artwork from one artboard, if larger than the artboard itself, is showing up on neighbouring artboards (i.e. pages). See the PDF attachment: the maroon rectangle overlaps the second artboard and (and the same in reverse for the green rectangle overlapping the first artboard). I'm aware that the obvious answer to this is move the artboards further away from each other but this isn't ideal for a few reasons: As I say, this document has over 50 artboards representing pages in the exported document so spacing them far enough apart from each other such that photos and other artwork don't overlap other artboards isn't feasible, especially as the artboards masks the artwork beyond the edge of the artboard; its impossible to see where the bounds of the artwork is to mitigate overlap on other artboards I'm actually trying to place two artboards side by side to represent each spread in the book in order to actually visualise what the art looks like together as a spread without a gap. So, I was wondering if there is an option I'm missing somewhere in File > Export > PDF that I can turn off artwork from separate artboards overlapping and appearing on other artboards (i.e. pages) in the export? At a push I'm aware that I can use option 2. above as a work around for this problem i.e. slicing up the artboards using export persona and exporting each board as a separate PDF document. But of course this leaves me with the hassle of having to combine all the PDFs back into one document using some third party program every time I want to export a version of the PDF document for preview. I'm also not sure what effect another round of compression will have on the document and am therefore reluctant to use this method especially as this will be going for print. Any help would be greatly appreciated! test5.pdf
