1. howdy :) is there a way to save export settings in affinity photo — make user defined presets? for example, different size .jpegs, resample & quality settings for future use & applications? i dont see an option for this in the export window nor a way to edit/save the default presets thank you! :)
2. I'm having a strange export issue. The polygon and its border look perfect in Designer, but when I export to PNG, the corner gets messed up. I've tried changing the corner's angle, but since I can't duplicate the effect in Designer, I never know if I fixed it or not and need to re-export and look at the PNG to see if anything changed. Left: Designer, Right: Exported PNG
3. How to export TGA format files with alpha channel in Designer?
4. Not a huge problem but the floating studio pallets are on a layer above the export window. If you have things positioned certain ways the pallets can blog the export window buttons and you cannot click them. You can move the pallet of course but I think the Export window should be at the same level as the Save window.
5. I have been trying all of the different options to export to PSD from Affinity Publisher, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Photo, and nothing is working. All it gives me is the message "An error occurred while exporting to: (File location). I just installed all of the latest updates to versions 1.7.2 I've also made sure that all of the layer names are short and simple. I've tried all of the presets for PSD (preserve accuracy, preserve editability, and Final Cut Pro X) Is there something I'm missing? Ultimately, my goal is to export to a file type that can be opened by Adobe programs with he layers in tact. Thanks!
6. After using the HDR function on a single image, I'm unable to export the image as it looks on my screen. What gets exported is a washed-out version of the image. I've tried this with several different images, and I even went back to the previous version of AP. I watched the tutorial videos on HDR and didn't see anything relating to this. In my screenshot, the image on the left is what I had after exporting, vs the image on the right, as I see it in AP. To get this, I just used File>New HDR Merge, chose a TIFF image, and accepted all the defaults. Then I used File>Export to a 16-bit TIFF. I also tried exporting to a JPG and got the same results. I assume I'm doing something wrong, but after a couple hours of trying to figure it out, it's time to ask for help.
7. There is a wide range of needed optimizations of the svg export in Affinity Designer. I am just listening the most important (buggy) ones for now: The svg tag has the width and height property as percental values, this can cause multiple (positioning / scaling) issues for the web usage (I am a Web Developer, 12+ years) while rendering the svg appropriate and the values are often differently in different browsers for the usage of early access in the DOM, the CSSOM and even for JS. That's why most SVG Exports usually use precise attribute values, e.g. instead of the current export <svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 596 842" ... it needs to be exported as <svg width="596" height="842" viewBox="0 0 596 842" ... AD exports the path's, etc. with inline styles (style="...") instead of the acutal svg properties (e.g. fill="...", stroke="...", font-style="...", etc.). Therefore it's currently hard to override those values outside the svg and even for dynamic JS manipulations / effects The id's of exported elements have the layer's names, therefore there are sometimes problems (e.g. <g id="ArtBö--ard11" serif:id="ArtBö <ard1">) with special characters (including spaces, etc.), especially when trying to access them, sometimes they even brake things. They should be removed from the final svg export entirely (some of the special characters aren't w3c valid for id's anyway). By the way, the exported serif:id="..." makes the svg way bigger in size then it should be (bad loading times on the web), it makes a huge differences when it comes to complex svg's Other export tools / competitor tools do it as explained above and there are no problems. If there is some more detailed technical information needed then let me know.
8. Windows 10 Home 1903, Designer 1.7.2.471. Steps to reproduce: * Open Designer; * Create new document; * Switch to Export persona; * Application hangs. I don’t think many people would want to do this in practice but I don’t think they should be penalised for doing so.
9. if something is selected when export the document, Area option should be Selection with background/Selection without background. I prefer Selection without background.
10. Affinity team since the Figma plugins have recently come out, I was wondering if you could develop one to import Affinity Designer files. Or at least create a special export. Thank you
11. So I am trying to create images that I can use as assets, not as a layer asset but as a vector image asset. But I am unable to do this. If I in Designer export to say svg or eps I get them as embeded document, and then I cannot save it as an asset. I have tried searching for this and seen many videos, but it seems I am not sure what the correct search is for this problem. I have tried creating all objects so they all become "curves" but that does not seem to help. And I do not want to raster it as that does not make it vector. What is the correct way of saving this as an object/image that I can use as an asset later?
12. Hi. New on AD. I opened a few times, but still trying to find my way (too long on AI). I exported a 2D drawing from Rhino as a PDF (since AI is not supported). I would like to assign different thicknesses to some of the lines of my drawing. The drawing lines are not joined in Rhino. When I open the PDF in AD the sketch looks to be all merged (using black arrow). Using the white arrow I just have too many nodes in every line to select them one by one, not even sure if this is the way. I would like to ask for help in this matter. Kind regards ,
13. Hi, I've had this probleem a few times both in Designer and Publisher, where a document just doens't want to export to pdf, in any preset I try. It's always been a document with multiple sized artboards, and some artboards within artboards (which usually doesn't form any problem). When I completely recreate the file from scratch the problem resolves... Is there any way I can find more info other than the error I get for any place I try to export it to? Finder is not the problem as other files save to exactly the same location without error. And it doesn't help to change filename, restart software, restart computer, etc... Thanks! EDIT 1: It looks like it is one text layer that is causing the export error. When I remove the formatting out of that text (I have spent quite some time kerning it, so would prefer not to...!), the error goes away...? When I paste the text with formatting in a new text layer, it gives the error. Both with the artistic text tool, as well as the text frame tool EDIT 2: I have found it! It was referring to an inexisting Font variant... Any way that we can get more information on export errors?
14. Hi I've noticed the progress bar doesn't really work, the bar is stagnant until the last 5 seconds and then its just done For context on this issue, I'm exporting uncut A2 panels, each page takes 3.3mins, if it gave me a time estimated or showed a time elapsed (for me to remember for next time) or showed an accurate progress bar I would not have to sit around until its done ( This message sounds more frustrating then actually is, its not that bad but, its just one of those things that will make a great product even better). Keep up the great work Kind regards Mike
15. Good morning, I have the problem, that the documents, exporting to PDF ar much darker than in the Affinity Programs. What am I doing wrong? I'd be happy if you could help me. Renate
16. Hello, I recently noted that when I import some (not all) RAW photos and hit the "Develop" button, some weird artifacts have occurred and are very noticeable even after the export at max quality. If I do the exact same process on AP on Mac, the export is perfectly clean and without any weird colours or artifacts. I’ve attached an example of photo that looks good when in AP and changes when exported to JPG. On the right side of the screenshot, there is the exported picture opened on the floating window of Apple Photo. The photo was shot with a Nikon D7000. Thanks for your help! EDIT: after re-installing the app on the iPad it seems to work perfectly and no noise or artifacts can be spotted on the same RAW files I was testing. What's the reason for this?
17. Width and height dimensions in exported files have a value of 100%. Sometimes values are needed in pixels. You must then change them in a text editor. Is it possible to enter an additional option in the "Export Options" panel that enables widtch and height values expressed in pixels?
18. Could this please be made clearer in Affinity Publisher's "help" or even on the PDF dialogues? I needed to create a multi-page A5 folded brochure. My commercial printing service wanted the PDF to contain "separate pages" rather than "spreads." As someone who is new to commercial printing, it was not obvious how to translate the language of the printer's requirements into language used by Affinity. To clarify: Affinity's "All Spreads" PDF exports eg. facing pages of a booklet as double-page spreads; but how they are viewed... ie. not arranged for printing. Affinity's "All Pages" PDF exports eg. facing pages of a booklet as a series of single pages, in consecutive order. Unlike PagePlus, Affinity Publisher does not appear to have a mode which exports pages arranged to suit printing. 19. Hi, I'm just getting started with Affinity Photo after using Photoshop for a long time, so I might have completely overlooked the solution, but here's what I'm trying to achieve: I would like to export a slice of my photos at a set resolution (N x M pixels), but I cannot figure out how if it's possible. I've seen the other hardcoded values, but is there a way to create my own? Thanks! Robert
20. I'm a videogame artisti and it happens many times that I have to export single layers or groups of layer that contains the various assets for the game. But if I decide to use some adjustment layers to modify the whole document when I export the single layers to png they lose the adjustments and I don't want every time to apply singularly a copy of these adjustment to every asset I export. Is there a way to keep into consideration the global adjustment layers when exporting part of a drawing? Thank you for answering ;)
21. Hi there, I'm trying to export a layer as an SVG, but when I open the finished product, there is a border around it (I think it is from the artboard). Wondering if I can set it so every layer can be exported without a square border around it. More detail: I have a file setup as a grid of artboards (see attached) and I want those objects (with no border) exported as an SVG. Looking something like this: Switching to Export Persona, I have slices of every artboard and in this case select "Page 1" to export as an SVG. I can see that every slice has a little symbol of a pentagon and a circle surrounded by a purple square border. I've seen in tutorials that this symbol can be just the shapes colored yellow (this is what I expect I want to have in this case). So the Exporting looks like this: After saving it off and opening the resulting SVG file, I end up with the desired objects from the layer, but I also have a rectangle surrounding the whole thing. It looks like I can delete it manually and save it off again to just get the objects in the layer. I'm wondering how to set it so I don't get a border of where the artboard was in my outputted SVG. So I want to stop exporting the highlighted rectangle: Let me know if you need clarification. Thanks in advance for your help. Here's a test file: svg_export_testing.afdesign Best, Zach
22. Dear Serif and the Affinity Photo dev team... THANK YOU SO MUCH! I fired up the Customer Beta that I keep installed along side my regular release of AP. Imagine my surprise when I checked the export options and saw .TGA as an export option! I'll be running around work tomorrow like a lunatic informing every single artist about this! Additionally, There's going to be more than a few of our tech supervisors that are going to be excited as well. I'm hoping studio management gets around to upgrading to Affinity Photo before the end of the week!
23. I'm still not used to Designer for iPad but it seems the "export option" (not the persona) doesn't work well. It's very unreliable: I have various work areas but when using the Export option it is set to whole document and not let me choose a work area... Unless I first select a work area, then the section to choose areas can be selected when exporting... But the resolutions given by the export option seems to be of the area selected before entering the Export option... It doesn't matter which work area I select inside the Export option (it does export the area chosen in the list but at the resolution of the area (or areas) selected before entering the Export option). Or, for example, I select an object, go inside the Export option and select a work area to export: the resolution is not the correct but it seems related to the object size I selected. Also, if I want to enter the resolution manually for the area to export it is unreliable, even if the lock is on I see it doesn't respect it and gives a wrong resolution for the height or width. The Export option is acting crazy and I can export effectively is what I'm saying. I use an iPad Pro 12.9 (2nd Gen), app and iOS updated.
24. I have a number of multi-page AFPUB files that make up various parts of a ~200 page book. I know there's no 'Book' feature - like InDesign - but wondered if there's any way to batch the export-to-pdf stage? I'm thinking similar to how you might use the Batch feature in AF Photo - to save me exporting each one-by-one. I can automate the newly-created PDF's to merge to one whole after this easily enough - although a 'Book' setup to do this all in one process would be really awesome... Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance.
25. If I create an artboard with a slash in its name (“8 1/2 x 11 Artboard” for example), then when I export that slice in the Export persona, anything before the slash becomes a new folder (“8 1”) and anything after becomes part of the file name (“2 x 11 Artboard.pdf” for example). It seems like your developers are not ‘escaping’ the slash when submitting the file name to the file system. For now, I’ve resorted to going decimal (“8.5 x 11 Artboard”) and that works fine.
