Hi, Ok this never happen before, the export using PDF (digital...) has problems with object with blur layer fx. As seen on the attachment screenshots, exported pdf it has dark area at the size of the blurred object. It shows correctly in the project file while working. This happens when exporting to PDF (digital small), PDF (digital high), PDF for Export. I've included exported .pdf file as well the project file. Please Advice. Update: This happens when the blur object has opacity less than 100% and it is inside another object (sub layer) while on normal Page. If it's on Master Page, it doesn't have to be inside an object it exports with error. This started happening from Affinity Publisher Version 2, I couldn't replicate the issue in Version 1. I also noticed that some object do export correctly (not all) when have "Allow advanced features" ticket on. Current Workaround: To avoid this problem currently the blurred object should stay 100% opacity and use the Fill opacity option in layer effect menu under gaussian blur. Just want to say, after years of using PhotoShop, I was unable to afford upgrade subscriptions when I moved to MACOS High Sierra. Affinity Photo is a tremendous alternative. I recently had this PDF Export problem. A printer I have worked with for years to do postcards told me my PDF Export of a design in Affinity Photo was only 72 DPI. I had set the doc up as a 4x6 postcard with bleed (4.25 inches by 6.25 inches), and choose the default profile for CYMK instead of RGB color. My design contained 3 images. Two of those were video screen captures and were 72 DPI PNGs, while the other was a 400 DPI photo. All the images were reduced more than 50% from their imported sizes, so I thought the PNGs would still get by. The other layers contained limited text and a solid background color. When I exported I chose the PDF (for print) at 300 DPI, using the Bilinear default. I was confused by the Printer's rejection of the PDF, since this is more or less the same way I used to set up PhotoShop docs, and I had used lower res images in the past without the entire PDF being rejected as 72 DPI. I read some info from Affinity regarding "Upsampling" and info about the Bicubic export choice. I then went to Doc Setup and did an Upsample at 300 DPI, which didn't appear to take any time or change anything - because it was already 300 DPI(?) Then I exported the PDF (for print) at 400 DPI and chose Bicubic option, no rasterizing. In the resulting PDF, the PNG images looked a tiny bit clearer on my monitor, but I wasn't sure about printing. Printer said the updated files were good and ran the job (which I haven't received yet). Although what I did worked, it was a shot in the dark. I'm interested to know why this Export to PDF was more involved than what I used to do in PhotoShop.

Hello, Is it possible to export selected layers into 1 pdf file, but leave other layers unexported? I have a file with 5 layers/pages, I have created export slice with 2 layers (in export persona) by using slice tool and dragging around 2 layers/pages, (other layers/slices are unselected from export). - when I export to jpg - I get a picture with my 2 selected layers. - when I export to pdf - I get a file with ALL my layers/pages Thanks!

I've been corresponding with MagCloud/Blurb tech support, trying to pin down what they think might be the right Publisher settings for PDFs submitted to them. It's uncharted territory. They don't have experience yet with Affinity Publisher — they have InDesign and QXP templates but none for Publisher — and Serif hasn't commented much about Magcloud/Blurb that I know of. I did a lot of book pagination in the past, but it was always someone else who did the final prepress work. Blurb has a page that could be useful for people like me who don't have much experience with setting up documents for CMYK processes. The most rudimentary color-management info on the page, I already know. It was the soft-proofing bit that caught my eye. https://www.blurb.com/blog/color-management-printing/ The web page contains a link to the company's own ICC profile, useful for soft proofing. Scroll down to the What is a Color Profile? subhead, then look in the second paragraph below it for The Blurb ICC Profile is based on the GRACoL2009 reference (etc.). In making a book of photographs to be printed by a print-on-demand company, I found I'd exceeded their 300 MB per PDF limit even before I had all image files placed in the Publisher document. The idea of further JPEG compression was not appealing but I decided (holding my nose the entire time) to try compression settings during export to PDF. The results surprised me. No compression: 388.5 MB No compression (2nd time around): 363.4 MB (why the difference?) Compression setting 100: 211 MB Compression setting 99: 182.7 MB Compression setting 97: 139 MB Compression setting 95: 114 MB Compression setting 90: 83 MB I take it this means that the max quality setting (100) still involves re-compression of the images. All along I'd thought 100 means: no compression. Apparently not. So if output file sizes are plaguing you, perhaps the slight JPEG compression will be helpful. Before starting the tests I ran the original JPEGs through the compression program JPEG-Mini. It made a whopping difference in the files' sizes and without noticeable loss of quality. But using the JPEGs compressed with JPEG-Mini as source files within the Publisher document doesn't seem to have provided a lot of savings during export to PDF. Perhaps JPEG-Mini's major advantage is a "web thing" and not a "print thing".

When I export to PDF for print with printers marks, bleed etc, I am seeing black vertical 'border-type' lines on some of the pages. There are no black borders showing on the document in AD. Any idea how I can get rid of these? Many thanks

Hello, guys at Serif. I have found the root of all problems with export to PDF. Please, open the attached file, export it to PDF, open the exported PDFs with Affinity Designer and verify the layers panel. Some (or all) gradient fill curves was rasterised. AD have a BUG. if a linear gradient have more than 2 colors, and if mid point is not exactly 50%. AD will rasterise it at export to PDF. Please, Serif guys. Correct it!
