Hello dear ones. I use Affinity Photo and Designer. I downloaded an .eps file from a portal for royalty free images. In this file there are 8 different "stickers" with one page turned over, so with drop shadows. Only one of them I want to export as png. The problem is that I do not know how. In this file there are 1000 layers, one for each curve. It is not possible to select a sticker completely with all layers, i.e. to apply it with the selection tool. And to select and mark the 50 layers for this sticker is impossible. So how do I proceed? Which of the two programs is better suited for this? How do I select the one sticker with all its layers for export? Thank you very much in advance. -
Hello. I've had a look around the forum, and not found an answer to my EPS export problem. I have a vector, created in Affinity, sitting on a 34mm x 46.4mm document. When i export the file as an EPS, and open it in Affinity to check it is ok - the size has become 34.2mm x 46.6mm and the graphic is no longer centred. The image in the file on export is dead centre. There are no hidden assets. Any ideas? -

Hi, let me ask related question. I am also looking for the way to export line art that I created on affinity designer to Adobe illustrator. Line art mean not outlined vector image. I am looking for the way to bring the line I draw with pen tool not the shape. -
Hi, I want to ask about exporting EPS file. 1) When i export to EPS as "EPS FLATTEN", does it really mean that the file is totally rastered and UN-EDITABLE on any graphic software ? 2) And, i've tried to export as "EPS FLATTEN", and i got this white background attached. How to exclude that white background ? I need to make sure that my EPS file which i would sent to my client is for printing purpose only, as i have policy not to share raw material. Much appreciate if this forum can help me with solution for my situation. Thank you -

Hi, I modified a single letterform (changed to paths) in QuarkXpress 2017. I exported the letterform (3 inches x 3 inches @ 100%) as an EPS. I created a new document in Designer. I selected "place", navigated to the .eps file and clicked "open". The "place" window turns all white, the beachball starts to spin and Designer hangs, requiring a "force quit" Is there a way to get this to work? My reason for bringing it into Designer was to see if I could use "color overlay" to change the black eps letterform to a color. thanks, lettergothic -
Buongiorno, il file esportato in eps per un programma di taglio che lavora solamente con file eps vengono aperti normalmente se generati da corel draw o da inkscape ma non da affinity designer, ho provato ad esportarlo in tutte le combianzioni che il programma mette a disposizione.

I’ve been using Affinity Designer on the iPad since it came out but recently I found that I cannot open EPS files anymore. I’m using an iPad Pro 11” 2018. I tried opening the same files on my Mac and they open without any problem. UPDATE: I have an app called Texpad, I found that if I delete it I’m able to open EPS, but when I do they appear empty.

Hi, I am wondering if there is a Problem Opening a vektor EPS that I bought from a stock library, it seems to be displayed completely off. Any idea anyone? I have attached a screenshot from Designer with the weird appearance and the original JPG corresponding to the EPS that I purchased. Thanks a lot, Christian

Hello all, I am fairly new to exporting things for different mediums. I have to print several images as window decals so the woman at the print shop is asking for the vector files. Normally I would send as pdf but she says the pdfs and eps I sent are acting as rasterized images and not vector format. Unsure what I am doing wrong. She is offering to vector as a service but I'm hoping to save the money by doing it myself. Seems like it shouldn't be so difficult. Thanks in advance for the help! Hello, I downloaded this file https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/bacteria-infection-virus-flu-background_7080504.htm from freepik. The EPS file opening properly on illustrator but opening as a image file only in Affinity Designer. I attached the EPS file. 23913.eps

When I try to export from my iPad as an EPS to my laptop something happens to the strokes, this is what it looks like on both. Can someone help?

I've been trying to upload an EPS created in AD to Shutterstock for past few days. I saved it with rasterise nothing. Initially, I thought this might have happened as a mistake from reviewer. Anyhow, re-submission got rejected too. Rejection reason: Linked Images / Bitmaps / Raster Effects: Vectors containing linked images, bitmaps, and/or raster effects are not acceptable. I tried to examine the file, but couldn't find any raster effects (vector does have gradients, but haven't used any blend modes, layer effects or adjustments). I don't know how to check for linked images although I've not used any image placements in the design! Is it possible inspect the file for linked images in AD? I can upload the file privately if Serif team could look at it. Else here is a similar test EPS created in AD. Shapes are positioned similar to the original with same export settings. test.eps

I read the Affinity help section online, but sill didn't get it completely. It says: when selected, objects in the exported file have relative positions for maximum editability. If this option is off, object positions are fixed to create a file which is optimized for viewing. Does this mean if the option is unchecked object position can't be edited? I tested exporting to EPS and I'm still able to edit the object position no matter whether it's selected or not. I guess I'm missing something somewhere! Can someone please enlighten me?

Hello, when i try to open a vectorized eps file i get an empty layer, either in photo as well as in designer. I used to be able to run my image threw vector and then open it in affinity photo But i think since latest three updates a white screen shows up with an empty layer in layers. Please help. -
Hello, I've downloaded an EPS file from ShutterStock during a trial period and am having some issues. Of the 10 files I download, 8 of them work as expected. 1 has transparency issues, but is not a Designer issue. The other one is an EPS file, is supposed to be scalable, and each element should be separated easily and manipulated (that is kinda the point of an EPS from them). This EPS appears to simply have the image cut in three pieces, and not have the art elements distinct. I wrote to ShutterStock support, and they said "We would recommend to use Adobe Illustrator as this might be a compatibility issue with the software you are using to edit the file." I've opened hundreds of AI files of all sizes and complexities with no issues at all, so this would be a first. I'm contending with them that they made the wrong file available for download, since they show each element on a separate layer. I'll show screenshots, so I don't get dinged for sharing what is technically a paid for file. If I can share it safely someone let me know. Attached are two files, AI LAYERS.jpg and AD 1.8.2 LAYERS.jpg. They show what should be the same document and the layers panel open. I think they moved the AI elements around but no big deal. Can someone tell me if I really need AI to open this properly or what is going on here? I won't go back to AI so that is not an option, I just want to know because I am making a decision on ShutterStock and this is a deal breaker on a simple test. Hello Busy on a trial of you designer software and tried to open an .eps (previously edited in CS5 and CS6). Keep getting an error message "file type not supported". Is there something I am missing? Your website says designer can do this. Regards

Dear developers, I have a problem with EPS import. I downloaded this vector pack what include an EPS and a JPEG: https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/set-people-character_4486128.htm When I opened in AD, then I get a few group, but thats no correct, curves mixed. If I open this EPS in Illustrator, then I get correct groups: every person a group. If I export this EPS to SVG by Illustrator, and open exported SVG in AD, then groups will ok. Please check, what's problem with groups in EPS import, because I don't want use Illustrator. Thanks!

L.S., I recently wrote a small script to extract positioning information from Encapsulated Postscript files exported by Affinity Designer. To be precise, the script detects occurrences of text strings that start with a period, extracts the location of the period together with the text string itself, and converts this to code that can be used in LaTeX so that e.g. mathematical formulas (typeset in LaTeX) can be overlaid on top of the encapsulated postscript figure. The tool heavily relies on the fact that Affinity Designer, when exporting Encapsulated Postscript, puts a comment containing the actual text string in the EPS file before writing the corresponding curve drawing code, the first line of which contains the coordinates where the first character in the string must be drawn. My request is simply this: please do not change the way Affinity Designer exports Encapsulated Postscript! [A bolder wish would be that Affinity Designer would add a feature that allows certain object - e.g. text strings - be marked as special. Such special objects should not be exported to graphics output formats like .eps, .pdf etc., but instead their coordinates and metadata (eg the text string itself) should be exported to a text-based document format (json, xml).] -
Hi, appreciate there's a lot of posts about the blank artboard issue on Affinity when opening files, I couldn't find the answer to mine so here goes: I artworked all our brand logos on Adobe Illustrator and saved the master files as EPS. These logo EPS files have been prepared for print, so they have their assigned colour profiles and brand swatch colours with fixed CMYK and pantone values. We have set up our colour environments to FOGRA39...2004) and sRGB...1966-21 in both Affinity and Illustrator. I get that Affinity wont import file-specific data, but can show the vectors on the layers panel, but the layers here are blank. There is a path tool that was used in Illustrator to subtract the head of the bird from the body, but nothing else during the drawing stages. I checked the X/Y axis and these register at 0. Hi, I have a problem with the eps file exported by AD. There are several layer groups but when eps is opened by AI, the layer group is expanded or not in the group anymore. How to handle it? thank you -
Hi, Although I'm posting this issue for Photo, it also happens in Designer. When I drag this file to open it on Photo (or Designer) I get on top right corner of the application window "Loading 1 document..." and then noting happens. Usually, after a short time I quit, open task manager and... you know the rest. This time I've decided to wait and while on Google Chrome, he (Chrome) started to "freeze" and eventually throwing memory errors. I opened task manager and Photo was consuming an insanely amount of memory and moderate CPU and Disk. It opened the file after some 5 minutes. This file was generated by a CAD program used to produce maps and this issue happens with any other file that comes from it. It opens in Photoshop or Illustrator with no issues. As for now I can't disclosure this file in public so could you provide-me a dropbox link to upload it? Regards, Nuno
