  1. Greetings all, I have a document in Photo v2 that has a model holding a credit card. The card is an embedded Designer v2 document of the card artwork. When I save the document, load up Designer and make changes to the card design and save it, shouldnt the changes be reflected in the Photo document when I reload it? This isnt happening.. when I reload the photo file with the model, she's still holding the old card design.
  2. Hi guys, can someone please provide me with an upload link for a QT video and an .afdesign file (230mb in total)? It's all explained there. Addendum: the duplication bug doesn't happen in .afphoto. There the perspective is maintained. TIA, Helmar
  3. This is hard to explain without looking at the attached example... So I have created a document with 3 art boards. Named Column A B and C. Lets call this the parent document. Within this document is one embedded document. Lets call this the child document. The child document is another Affinity Designer document with 3 art boards. Named Red, Blue and Green. In the parent document, each column artboard contains three references to the same child document. For each reference, I have selected one of the three artboards of the child document.Any changes made to the three child artboards reflect in the parent document as expected. However, if I need to resize the child artboards (lets say from 50mm x 50mm to 60mm x 60mm), the following issues appear in the PARENT document... Any references to a child artboard that was resized will maintain the original size in the parent document. As in the selection handles treat it as if it's still 50mm x 50mm. Additionally, Affinity does attempt to render the content that escapes the original size, but is glitchy. As if it's rendering outside of it's bounding box when it shouldn't. It is possible to create a new artboard at a different size in the child document, but as soon as the size is tweaked after initial creation, the parent document will not get the tweaked size. In my specific use case I need to increase all my artboard sizes to account for some bleed, but currently this causes rendering glitches and doesn't work. It would be too much effort to recreate my artboards every time I want to resize an artboard because I would then have to change all the references in the parent document to point to the new artboards, which rather defeats the point of referencing embeded documents and propagating changes upwards. In the attached file I have resized the green artboard, and you should be able to see the issues. Especially when you try to move the green object around in the parent. Green shape escaping it's bounding box... Gitchy trails when moved... The child document artboards... EmbedDocResizeArtboardBug.afdesign
  4. It's actually the method of implementing Smart Object . Since now Affinity have implemented Embedded Document and Linked Document , as long as there is a convenient option to convert layers or groups into a embedded document, the Smart Object feature of PhotoShop can finally have replacement. This will be really convenient feature, please you add it!
  5. Adding a "Update" button so the embedded document updates. I use Photo the most, because I can work both with vectors and rastered images and use all the pixel editing tools, also Photo has Live Filters. But, when I want to mount everything in artboards in Designer, and I embed my assets, they don't auto-update, or at least there is no update button. Having to click on Replace Document, find the document, click ok, in order to update changes is not practical. Auto-update would be even better but it's optional. Thank you.
  6. How can I transform an embedded document (e.g. change perspective) without it being rasterized? I saw a video from several years ago that seemed to suggest it was possible to use embedded documents similarly to smart objects, but when I try to change the perspective of a placed image, it gets rasterized and is no longer editable. ? Thanks.
  7. Is there a way we can edit SVGs that we import into affinity designer on the iPad? It is labeled "Embedded Document" once imported. I saw that you can edit it on the desktop version but I haven't found anything about the iPad version. Thanks in advance for any help!
  8. Hi everyone, sorry if i can't speak english well! If you use an image or embedded document and move a layer inside it to make an overlay for that, the internal layer doesn't fade in faded places of parent layer. In attached file, two left layers are pixel layers so the overlay is affected by parent layer's alpha properly, but two right layers are image and embedded document and you see the problem! 9. Hello, I have been trying out Affinity beta on Windows for the last couple of days and it's absolutely amazing. Except for the few bugs that pop up here and there. One thing I was excited about was the embedded document feature. It's very useful to preview your design as you work on it (especially if you work with prints a lot) but I have come across some sort of a bug. Basically, the document that should "update" itself with the design does so only if you click on it or move it around. Or it shows up cut out until you move back to it. I have put the link to a video showing what I am talking about (it's sped up so let me know if you need the full 20 min video). https://youtu.be/GB1n8_6N1-0
  10. I was watching a couple videos on the Affinity Vimeo account because I am a novice (I don't know exactly how to grade myself in design / artistic prowess) of graphic design and the such. so then I came across the IPad Affinity Designer Teaser. I instantly loved it, my eyes lit up with love, and then I thought of an app that lets you mirror your mac screen and thought that would be a beautiful mix if I could double click an embedded document and make it show up on my iPad screen through the iPad app (affinity designer or whatever the name would be as an app) and then edit the embedded document from there while it is also showing up on my mac as i edit it ! it would make embedded documents so much easier to control on this 13 inch macbook pro screen. just a little food for thought when and if the app of iPad comes. i started out graphic illustration and design on an iPad mini with procreate, adobe apps, and idraw. this would be beautiful to see the affinity app come to life :D
