  1. Hi! I just did a search of the group for this and nothing came up, so forgive me if this has been brought up before. I am wondering how you keep text layers editable editable after your document has been saved ... ? I have tried saving documents as PNG, PSD and .aphoto, but none of these formats seem to allow text layers to be editable once the document has been saved and then loaded back in to Affinity Photo afterward. Is this something that Affinity simply won't do, or should I used another format? Any information on how to do this would be helpful. Thanks!
  2. I've purchased several stock vectors for a client's project. When I open them in AD, the layers aren't editable as vectors. The supplier assures me they are editable in Adobe Illustrator. Is this not something that AD should be able to do too? insurance-services-concept-abstract-3d-sphere-globe-with-icons-hand.zip
  3. in the keyboard shortcut editor, 'zoom toggle' is notably absent from the list of editable shortcuts. i would absolutely LOVE it if i could change this to 1. CMD and then 2. +spacebar (in that specific order). disclaimer: i have decades of photoshop muscle memory. general fact: control, option, and command are nearly universally modifier keys, meant to be used first in a two-key combo. affinity's use of spacebar first, then command to zoom into my document is the only software i've personally run across that reverses this concept. i use the zoom shortcut every 30 seconds in the type of work i do, sometimes even more. i play the desktop keyboard the way a guitarist plays a blazing metal solo when i'm designing or illustrating. now, i know there's a lot of Affinity crossover with photoshop's tools and shortcuts, so it would almost be better for me to have a different zoom shortcut entirely to get it further away from my aforementioned muscle memory. because of this one specific, seemingly 'petty' issue i have with affinity products, i've basically given up on using them for any serious work on desktop. i get much more use out of the iPad versions because zoom is logically replaced by a gesture. I see other posts on various sites bringing up this issue, and the claims are that this request has been submitted to affinity for years now, probably since v1. i'd be so incredibly appreciative if this was seriously considered and implemented. thank you for reading and namaste!
  4. Hello Affinity Folks, I have no idea if I am positing this in the right place so I can only hope so. I don't see a "suggestions for a NEW product" option so I am putting my suggestion here. As I have seen, many people are asking for PDF Form creation and many are asking for it to be incorporated into your existing products. I personally would RATHER see affinity create their own version of LiveCycle. Here is why. If you were to create this software, you could not only make it robust and compatible to all your other software, but it would not be a convoluted mess in code compared to merging these features into your other packages. Updates would be much easier as well as adding in new beneficial features. Best of all it could be MAC compatible. Something Adobe LiveCycle is not. Yes, it would be yet another software package but you already have something from your past even to work from. So it's not like your working from a blank slate. Please give this some consideration and if possible put it out there for us to start testing. My hope of course would be 2020 as, PDF Form Creation (and Internet Webpage Forms) is a desperate need for us designers. Thank you, Epic
  5. Hi All, I am new to Designing. And trying to create editable PDF files for my client. What are my current options? Can I create editable PDF directly on any of the Affinity products? If not, how can i go about it? Can I create designs etc on Affinity designer app and then somehow make the PDF editable to be filled by someone. Only basic few words need to be editable. Please help. thanks.!!
  6. Feature Request -Make more theme colors available than Dark or Light. -Make themes available as in the example shown in the screenshot attached "Gimp Directory Structure" -consider adopting the use of gtkrc themes which are editable as in the attachment "Gimp black" and "Gimp Directory Structure" and "Gimp gtkrc" -(I know that somewhere in your directory structure, you have the equivalent of a gtkrc file; consider making that file location within the directory structure revealed and editable so that we could choose colors we like for the background color, insensitive color, UI color, text, unselected text, selected text and insensitive text.) (Note that there is abundant third-party theme support for Gimp app as portrayed in the screenshot provided called "Gimp Directory Structure" -GTKRC files are editable and can stipulate any hex # for background color, insensitive color, tooltip color, menubar color, text, insensitive text, selected text, etc. as demonstrated in the screenshot attached called "Gimp gtkrc". Notice how, by editing the gtkrc file, when you have the ability to select black (hex # 000000) for both the background color and the UI color, for example, everything just jumps off of the background like a 3D effect ) Cool!!! -Alternatively, you could make these colors selectable via menus like in the Windows Operating system theme colors which can be selected by hex # for all of the aforementioned categories. -I have provided a copy of the Gimp theme gtkrc file and a screenshot of the main variables called "Gimp gtkrc" for the " Gimp Black" theme for your examination and consideration. -At a minimum, allow us to select the UI GAMMA slider all the way to hex #000000; that can't be much of a stretch as you already have written the code to allow setting both the "Background Grayscale" and the "Artboard Background Grayscale" to hex #000000 gtkrc
  7. Hi! I started using Affinity Photo on my iPad and I'm loving it, but i'm having a little problem. I'm not able to export the file to psd, with the editable layerm so I can change the texts in my Photoshop (even by selecting the preset PSD - Preserve editability,) is there any way to do this? Thank you very much for the help.
  9. I don’t know how difficult it is to make it possible to save PSD files with editable text layers instead of rasterizing them. This is the one feature that keeps me from doing my design work totally on my iPad without Photoshop. I have a client that needs the ability to edit the text before it goes to print because of data that is not available when I’m working on the job (ie product catalog numbers). So my current workflow is I do all of the design layout, drawing, photo editing on my iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil, then export as a PSD, and then add all the text layers in Photoshop on my laptop. Of course there may not be a high demand for this feature.
  10. Hi everyone , I just purchased AD and it is very fun to use ! I tried to make some 3D text in Designer and ended by making theme editable like I was used to do in After Effects. Indeed, this could be usefull when you have to modify the 3D text. You can have a look at it in the video attached or here in my twitter post: https://twitter.com/themohclassic/status/958769682009468928 I am a software engineer, I really hope we will have soon some ways to develop plugins or scripts for AP or AD ! Have fun. Moh Classic 3D-EDITABLE-TEXT.mov EDIT: here is the tutorial !
  11. Hi, Please, can you give us an estimate date on which the feature that will allow us to export text from Affinity to Photoshop and keep the text editable will be live? Please, I'm practically begging, I love this friggin app, and this is the only thing keeping me from working with it. PLEASE! At least an estimate! Thank you, Chris
  12. Is it possible to export affinity designer to PSD file with editable text? If yes, how?
  13. I discovered a trick to export an .Affinity file into .PSD while maintaining the possibility of editing text. Lets go. It's quite simple: 1. Save your file in PDF (for export) 2. Open in Illustrator and export to PSD (while retaining text editing) Ready! Simple right? Here's a video showing you step by step. It is worth remembering that some things can get lost but if you simplify the Affinity file it will get easier to turn it into PDF and then PSD and keep all fonts editable. In my tests I had a group of texts inside a layer with opacity and this was lost, but if I take this text from the layers it is possible to keep editing (the video shows some tests) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-p3J1umYIg
  14. Hello I exported an affinity file as PSD. I opened it with photoshop cs6 and tried to edit the text. It seems i can't edit the text as it was not exported as editable text. Same was the case for import but it was solved from Preference option. Is there a way to export text as text for PSD? Most of my client will not PSD export as they don't have AD.
  15. Hello! I hope down the road there will be an option to make editable text areas of PDFs that have been exported from Affinity Designer. It would be awesome to send my clients PDFs that they could then change their names, etc by clicking on an editable text area. This feature would also be good to have for Affinity Publisher too. I found this topic made by another user who is requesting the same kind of thing: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/18110-creating-an-editable-pdf/ Thanks!
  16. Hi there, I am very new at Photoshop, let alone Affinity Photo. I am exporting a PSD for someone, but when they go to edit the text, they can't. They can move it, delete it, but not edit the actual text. Is there something I am missing? A setting when I am exporting? Thank you for your advice and insight. Sarah E.
  17. Hi all, A client wants to have a personalized wedding invite for each of her guests, with their name at the top. Is there a way for me to create an editable PDF of the design (including the font, of course) so that she can add in the names herself? Or will I have to create 100+ unique files of the invite? Thanks!
  18. Hello guys. I would like to ask few questions regarding PSD import / export from Photoshop to Affinity and back. I use Photoshop CS6 in my PC and I have a plan to use Affinity Designer (or Photo later) to do comic book lettering. I use just few tools in PS like Shapes, Paths and Text layers, with some of blending options like Stroke, Drop shadow, Colour and gradient fill. I created one PSD file in PS containing layers with ballons and text for testing how it will be opened in Affinity Designer - option: Favour editable text over fidelity. Well, it looks quite good, but there are still some small issues. I create ballons as elipse (Shape tool) with the tail (Path) as non-destructive combination. AD export this combination as dectructed shape with no possibility to edit ellipse and tail indepently. Yes, still editable as curves but non destructive combinations from PS are gone. Is there something I can do in PS and/or AD to be able import connected shapes correctly? When I create ballon in AD as non desctuctive compound of Ellipse and curve, export it as PSD, then it is opened in PS as 3 layers (with clipping mask?) but the curve is not combined with the ellipsis as in AD. They look like separated shapes. Text layers are imported to AD as editable text, but some of settings are not the same e.g. I am missing “optical” kerning. Would it be possible to get this option in the future? When I export PSD from AD and open it in PS the text layers are rasterised and they are not editable anymore. Would it be possible to get this option in the future? Gradient fill of the Shape is imported/exported correctly but gradient fill as "blending option" of the layer tis imported to AD correctly but in export from AD to PS it is changed to simple colour. Some of my clients are quite OK to get flat 1 layer TIFF or high quality JPG, so there will be no issue. But some of them reqest to have editable PSD to be able do some minor changes by themslef (ususally text correction) if needed. They works with Adobe stuff on PCs so obviously I cannot push them to switch to Affinity’s products and Apple hardware. There are screenshots of my lettering test in Affinity Designer and Photoshop. Original file created in Photoshop: PSD opened in Affinity Designer: and PSD exported from AD and opened back in Photoshop:
  19. Dear, When I export the layout into a .psd file, the layers with editable typographic fonts are automatically converted to pixels when I open the document in Photoshop. Someone would have an answer to solve this problem? Thank you for your help.
  20. It is great that we can convert fonts to curves (or outlines for those coming from Illustrator) but when viewing fonts in outline mode both regular editable fonts (not converted to curves) and fonts that have been converted to curves both appear the same. In Illustrator when you view a document in outline mode, fonts that are no longer editable appear as outlines or curves but fonts that are still editable appear as solid black. I'm not saying that Affinity should do it the same way as Illustrator but I do think it would be beneficial to have someway to convey to the user that the fonts are either editable or not (when using the outline view). As it is, the only way to see if a font is editable or not is to click on it. If there is a way to distinguish between editable and non-editable fonts in outline view now, could someone please let me know, thanks!
