  1. I can’t help thinking that Publisher is missing a huge market segment if nothing else if it doesn’t also include ebook production. it already does excellent pdf creation, and a number of other formats, but not true ebook production as Vellum does. Just a thought. Quote ”Created with usability and elegance in mind, Vellum is a fantastic software for creating Apple-, Kobo- and Amazon-approved ebooks and POD books with one click. While there are other, much cheaper software solutions to do this for you, some of them even listed in this guide, Vellum is unique: it creates not only professional but beautiful text-centric ebooks. If your goal is to create a book as elegant as a Penguin edition, Vellum can be your choice. The creators took care of everything: simple to use, efficiently imports from Word, and easy to change things even after the epub export.”
  2. Request: EPUB versions of the workbooks. This will help keep us up to date when the software is updated, for those of us that bought the workbooks. Why it's important? Let's say a few years down the road you guys have updated all the software and added a lot more features; the workbooks won't cover these changes, but a EPUB or PDF adaptation could be updated and it could be provided to registered accounts that have bought the workbooks already. I also would like the ability to have the content on my computer or phone, rather than having to lug around workbooks. Shipping of the workbooks to people in different parts of the world can be limiting. An epub or .pdf version eliminates that barrier. Easier to update the books as needed. You save on printing & shipping costs. Less stuff to carry around. Environmentally friendly. Quicker access.
  3. Though the .pdf format can be used for publishing e-books, my understanding is that it has limitations for this purpose. I would expect that many, if not most people want to publish e-books these days, or create web pages rather than create files for printing. That's not to suggest that the printed page is no longer important. I just don't understand why other epublishing formats and HTML have been ignored with Affinity Publisher, especially as they were available in Page Plus. In this respect it's as if with Affinity Serif has taken a step back. When free and low cost software offer a wider range of export formats, is it unreasonable to hope that Serif will address this issue while still developing version 1 of publisher, or am I just missing the point?
  4. I am loving Affinity Publisher, but I am hoping you can add an Affinity Word App to challenge Microsoft Word. Affinity Publisher feels great for the design aspect of ebooks, but what about just simply writing an ebook? I would love an Affinity Word Processor. Just like Adobe Microsoft has become Subscription based, it annoys me having to pay money every month to use Word. I would like a one time payment of Affinity Word, an app where I can just simply write, import and export as pdf or word document etc I could write with Affinity Word, then place the finished document into Affinity Publisher where I can add pictures and art, design etc Think about it Affinity, I know it is more work for you guys, but because you already have Affinity Publisher it shouldn't be too hard to turn this into Affinity Word. Rather like we have a Microsoft Publisher and a Microsoft Word. Also would love to see an Affinity Font app in future, an innovative font creation and font viewing tool and Affinity Video, an innovative video editing tool.
  5. Impressive at first look for a first beta. I come from QuarkXPress and I find AP intuitive. • Projects – What if you have several related files (stationery, brochure, etc.) and you want to them to share resources and formatting. If you add another item to the project, such as a booklet, could you pick up the resources and formatting? • Long documents – Sections, etc. How to handle long documents. • Issues – Publications with several locations, etc. Maybe ads change from region to region. • External copy editing while layout is being worked on. Could a text editor be used to edit placed text and have it update on the page geometry? • Versioning – is that Save History? Can you revert to a previous version. • Step and Repeat – Such as 4 across and 8 down, duplicate. • Repurposing – eBooks, web, etc. I am writing a book using Scrivener. I want to do my own layout, since I have a graphics and printing background and have been hoping AP will be ready by the time I am ready to layout my book. Scrivener recently included an option to output to software called Vellum.
