  1. Hey community, I'm having issues getting files to stay linked in Affinity Publisher on my iPadOS, using Dropbox. When I link an Affinity Designer file on Dropbox with the Linked Services feature enabled and set up, the files don't stay linked at all. Plus, I'm unable to select other artboards within that particular Affinity Designer file. To provide more context: I was able to succesfully link other file types on Dropbox. iCloud isn't an option for me in this scenario, and I haven't explored it. I have tested the recent 2.2 update, no difference in behaviour, files are immediately marked as missing in the resource tab. This issue hasn't surfaced on either MacOS or Windows. There, linking works fine, and I can also select different artboards after I linked an Affinity Designer file on Dropbox. A speculation I have is that maybe when linking a file within Affinity Publisher on iPadOS, it loads the file just for placement and then deletes it right post-placement, causing the link to break. Given this, has anyone encountered something similar or can offer advice on what might be the culprit? It completely breaks my workflow over different devices. Many thanks for any guidance! Dennis
  2. When exporting Dropbox was greyed out and inaccessible. I cleared Dropbox's cache, signed out, and deleted the app. Restarted my iPad Pro 10.5 and reinstalled Dropbox. Now Dropbox does not even show as an option. Affinity will not let me "Add" Dropbox either. This breaks my workflow as I work across multiple platforms and Dropbox is my jam. I know I can use another service for the time being, but a lack of functioning Dropbox export baked in is a HUGE problem for me. Is there another fix that doesn't involve resetting my iPad? iOS 12 on iPad Pro 10.5, all Apps up to date.
  3. Hello, I can't Download photo from my cloud storage Dropbox into Affinity photo. I can open Dropbox, but I can see plane icons only and it is impossible to download an individual picture. There is only a mark that downloading is in the process but nothing happens. Thaks for helping. Spagina
  4. We run Designer on 3 Macbooks, with all files saved on the same Dropbox account. One of the computers (10.14.6 Mojave) shows previews of Designer files just fine - both in normal Finder browsing and just through CMD+O in Designer. The other two (10.13.6 High Sierra and 10.15.4 Catalina) only show the Designer icon - no preview. Sometimes the High Sierra machine will show a preview if there's no file extension showing in the file name. Both the Mojave & High Sierra machines are running AD 1.6.1, and Catalina is on 1.8.3. We've done the basics with the High Sierra & Mojave machines like CMD+J in finder and making sure show icons & show icon preview are on. We've made sure that they all open with Designer. And of course the "Save thumbnails with documents" is checked in Designer's preferences. Thoughts or suggestions? We've tried to cross check as much as we can against the Mojave machine since that's showing previews perfectly, but we still haven't found the magic bullet. And I should point out - we're not trying to preview files within dropbox itself via a browser. 99% of the time we're just trying to preview while opening files right in Designer. Once in a while in Finder, but mainly within Designer.
  5. Dear Serif, We had major problems sometime ago with the 1.8.0 that were corrected with 1.8.2 Now, today, to my surprise, you had released a new 1.8.3 and again everything broke. I can not access files that *TONY* did earlier this week. I can still access files that *I* did earlier this week. Both me and Tony were using 1.8.2 and since Publisher found that 1.8.3 exist, it immediately crashes if I try to use any files Tony has done. Those same files worked a few days back nicely. We work with commonly shared Dropbox folder. Tony can still access the very same files that caused crash on my computer. I tried updating to 1.8.3. No luck. It still crashes. And no crash dumps (just like with 1.8.2). I can do new files and I can access files I have done and updated. But nothing that we have shared between me and Tony. I have a few pointers: Every file that I still can open (all done by me AND last accessed by me) have lost *EVERY SINGLE* linked file. Every single. Okay, that is possible to fix, but annoying and alarming. We use same file structure, me and Tony, both updated to 1.82.620 at the same time and both have same Windows 10 version On every occasion these problems have started exactly when new Publisher is found in the system. I'd dearly like to have feature of NOT updating or checking updates automatically as it does something to the files and causes these problems. As we have recently bought more licenses of Publisher and all are forced to do remote work, this is pretty much as bad situation as you can produce. We were trying to catch the gap that 1.8.0 ->1.8.2 hold up caused when this happened. Why, oh-why, did you do this again. I really like your software - but I really, really dislike your update system. PLEASE disable the forced 'lets check if there would be something new' as it clearly makes life miserable.
  6. Hi I have trouble saving a copy of my affinity designer file (.afdesign) into Dropbox as the Dropbox icon has disappeared overnight. I was able to do it before but this morning, the icon doesn't show. I can export share into Dropbox though but as a jpeg, pdf, tiff etc. Anybody encountered this problem? Any solutions? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi guys, just wondering if there is a problem between Photo and saving files to Dropbox (prior to iOS 13)? I have experienced the issue where I have either created a file on the ipad, or open from the cloud and made changes and clicked on the save button, only to discover when I go to the desktop that for some reason, some of the changes I made are not there and or are multiple versions of the file, but none match the last set of changes I made. Unfortunately, a couple of times I had closed the file on the ipad and lost everything on those couple files and now I have to backtrack my steps to reconstruct them. I believe there was an issue at some point where connecting with Dropbox was questionable at best and or not supported by Photo and Designer, but now it seems like that issue was resolved. Still, the question about solid connection with saving and opening files with Dropbox remains. Please advise if there is a problem with saving to and from Dropbox and the iPad versions, since my workflow has made use of Dropbox integration since day one. If I need to change to iCloud, that would be a great inconvenience. In any case, getting to the bottom of this is very important so as to avoid inadvertently loosing any more work. Please advise. Sincerely, gangusCat
  8. Loving the apps! ICloud is great but i uses Onedrive myself mostly because you can chose where on your device that the files are stored (iCloud is ONLY the C drive). I would love if your wonderful team would consider adding separate storage locations such as the Onedrive, Dropbox, CC storage (I understand if you skip this one!) and Google Drive. I have your windows suit of apps as well as the iPad designer and i would love to work on one file. currently i have to use the iCloud drive as a go-between to make the workflow viable but you allways end up with file blot when you pass them to a middle ground like this. I did a quick search to see if this was already addressed and did not find anything. However I am new to this form so i apologize if I missed this from another user. Cheers
  9. Hi, Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but am struggling to piece together a solution for my circumstances so any advice would be appreciated: I’m trying to move most of my editing workflow to my iPad (6th Gen). I haven’t used Affinity before (just PS Elements) but it seems like the best app for iOS. The difficulty I have is that I can’t store any of my images locally on the device (it’s a work iPad) so need a purely cloud based workflow. The images will be captured mainly on a Nikon D7000 and will be a mixture of JPEG and RAW (mainly JPEG). From what I’ve read, a mixture of Affinity for iPad and Dropbox seem to be the best solution for this, opening photos for editing rather than downloading them...is that right? Many thanks.
  10. Unable to access Dropbox files from Affinity Photo i can see Dropbox from Affinity Photo but I can’t see any of my Dropbox files. Is this an Affinity photo newest update error or a Dropbox error? I updated both apps yesterday, Dropbox first, and that’s when the issue started, then I updated Affinity and still had the issue. The error says Content Unavailable the folder contents could not be displayed because of an unknown error please try again. Affinity Photo 1.7.2.153 Dropbox 156.2.2 using my iPad Air 2 version 12.4
  11. Ever since I updated to iOS 11 and the latest version of Affinity Photo I haven’t been able to export my files to Dropbox or add my Google Drive as an option to save to. Any help would be appreciateed
  12. I was having this discussion with Mike Wenzloff in a Quark forum yesterday which was a great help to where I may go with this workflow. I wanted to ask the same question here to see if there is any serious pitfall I am not seeing among other Affinity users. I work for a company that does a lot of basic layouts; brochures, badges, mailers. I would like to buy Publisher for their machines so that I could just send them a Publisher file in Dropbox and they could change any text right from the program. They currently do this with MS Office files so it seems like moving to this workflow with our advertising would make as much sense. I'm on Mac they are on Windows and some also use iPads if Publisher comes to iPad at some point. Is anyone else doing something similar to this? Having that low price opens up workflows that I haven't tried before. I am also planning on incorporating other tools like Slack and Dropbox in this workflow.
  13. when i start ro make a design on the imac in AD, i can save it in a dropbox folder; continuing on the ipad i can easily pick up the file and continue working on it, great! but...., i would like to save the intermediate result in its AD format in the dropbox folder so that i can continue working on the imac again; i don’t see how to make this work, saving a file on the ipad means saving it on the ipad, not in the dropbox folder; alternatively i could export the file to dropbox to pick it up in AD desktop but.... i don’t see how to export the file in the AD format; am i right that stepping forth and back between desktop and ipad is not possible/easy?
  14. Hi, What typical save times are we looking at for the various export options? I'm currently exporting out a PSD at 530mb approx and it's taking ages! I understand it'll vary depending on file size/amount of information, but this does seem really quite slow? Are many people bouncing work between the desktop and iPad? Best, Nick

  17. Hello Here's a simple solution to get live preview from AD to other devices that have Dropbox installed. 1) Let's start by creating a New folder in Dropbox. (Tip: if we add underscore in front of folder name then the newly created folder will always be the first.) 2) Open AD and create new document. File > New > OK. 3) Now let's insert Nexus 6 artboard and save it as live_preview.designer file in _Affinity folder on Dropbox. (So we can edit it later) 4) Switch to Export Persona mode and go to slices and click Export Slices. Export slices to _Affinity folder in Dropbox and you will see two new files appearing in it background.png and Nexus 6.png. 5) Continuous mode now will be enabled, check it. 6) Let's go back to Draw Persona mode and make some changes to our document. You will see that files get updated automatically in Dropbox. 7) Now you can open Dropbox app with any of your device that supports it go to _Affinity folder and see live updates to your work (well...you have to hit refresh sometimes :).
  18. Hello, I need to send large vector images (9ft high x 4ft wide) to a printer. I export files as pdf, send them via dropbox, or sometimes hightail, and when he opens them the image seems to have the ground colour missing. And image looks transparent. If anyone has any ideas to help me overcome this issue, I would be most grateful. Many thanks, Tigerfeet
  19. just read about this software http://www.zibity.com/macdropany.html normally dropbox syncs one folder of your machine. but what if you want (multiple) custom sub folders to sync into dropbox? This may be the solution!
