Hello. I want to change the colours of this drawing and more specifically I want to make the lifework white and the background blue, light blue, red etc from top to bottom. Which app should I use? Affinity designer or Photo? What would be the optimal procedure? Antikythera mechanism final.pdf

Hey Affinity team, please have a thorough look at the Illustrator plugins from Astute graphics http://astutegraphics.com/to see why Illustrator is way ahead as a professional drawing tool. Their interfaces are astonishing. Especially, look at the tools included in VectorScribe to see how the interfaces for the Pen tool and Node tool can be merged in favor of direct manipulation instead of interfaces relying on modifier keys. Honestly, I think the Astute graphics team has a great set of inspirational UI tweaks that make vector drawing such a more pleasant and precise experience. I wish Affinity would implement many of similar behaviours. Kind regards

It was a nice surprise to find the art brushes in Affinity Photo. Here is a painting based on a couple of photos I took in Maine. The work took about 3-4 hours. The program could be better at painting with a couple of simple additions: 1 A good blender brush. Smudge and Blur aren't that useful for this. 2 A simple and easy way to change brush size without having to go to the slider - shortcut keys - control click and then drag to set size -
I suggest the implementation of "INERTIA" settings in both "Affinity DESIGNER"(especially) and "Affinity PHOTO";Alike you can change the behavior of tools in Artrage. so your curves etc. smooth out while you draw. Just like you would apply more pressure to the tool, which would normally have the effect in reality of not being able to move so fast. (Would be much easier to draw specific curves...(sry4myenglish)

Bonjour à tous, Hello everyone, 1st post ever on the Affinity forum. I just wanted to share my first Affinity Photo drawing and work in progress with all of you and a little review that will be posted for the months to come. So, let see the drawing wip first : Plus a nice layer workflow screenshot in detail : Here is the recorded time laps from yesterday : Last but not least, here is a kind of teaser for the french users/readers around that launches my deep investigations on Affinity Photo. I hope you'll like it. Affinity Photo, la "killer app" pour photographes "next-gen" ? (Affinity Photo, the "killer app" for "next-gen" photographers?) That's all for today :) richarre P.S. : the early sketches looked like this : and this

I tried to keep the total time below 2 hours and 1 Brush. This is based on a photo of the waterfall that run through the center of Camden Maine. I am liking the speed and responsiveness of the brushes, and the program in general. Fast and so far no crashes or problems. Very good.

This work is untitled (provisionally) - I’m looking for a suitable title for this pic. What does it say to you? Road ..., dream ..., and / or … whatever?? I'm pretty curious about your ideas :) :) ...

I proudly present: Matty Potato, the tomcat from the reformatory for maladjusted cats (here's a photo shortly after his release). OK, he’s the opposite of aristocats, but… Matty does almost everything for little money, he’s also a dog collaborator (!). Most tomcats hate him, some cats are even in love with him. We know: He's fairly terrible, and he will not change. Can we help him, somehow or... anyway? :o ;) :)

I use Corel Painter, but often for sketching first before I consider doing any painting. I do this because I want to have a digital copy of my sketches and I don't want to have to scan everything in all the time from a paper+pencil pad. When I do use the sketch pad, I will often scan that sketch and drop it into Painter to play with. Clean it up, rework it, etc. Sometimes I take that sketch further and play with painting it using Painters transparent page feature to sketch and paint over another image as well. Can your software incorporate more of the Corel Painter like qualities. Tools that can incorporate pressure of digital pens/paint brushes, etc. Perhaps giving people an opportunity to use their Stylis pad more with your software. Yes, I do understand that your software is for Vector art, but incorporating something like this feature with Vector art opens up a lot of options. Drawings that start as a sketch then evolves into clean vector art like comic books, architectural renderings, and other various Graphic Art styles. Having pencils, pens, and paint brushes that accomodate pressure, style, and skill beyond just click click click offer a great deal more.

Hi all, my name is Gregory and i'm a designer and illustrator (and a some other -er and -or :). I really like AD a lot, i'm using it for all my stuff from web design to doodling, so i'd like to share this small image i did back in May — its a kind of character, i doodle them a lot. So i decided to vectorize this one. Have a nice day everyone!

Multiple pages, not just multiple art boards. The art boards are great and can be used as pages, but it then requires a lot of scrolling or zooming in and out. Here is what I envision being able to do. I open the software, grab my stylis pad and start sketching. Now, instead of creating a new layer, I create a new page with some keyboard combination of some sort. (for example, perhaps "Shift+Alt+N" for a New Alternate Page? ) At this point, I now resume sketching. After a while, I want to review what I have sketched and so, this time I hit "Shift+F9" (because F9 is what apple uses for viewing open files as thumbnail images) and all the "Pages" that I had created show up similar to when I hit F9 on my Mac to see what files I have open. I will see thumbnails (larger if not many pages, smaller if lots of pages). I can then click on any of those thumbnails to open that page up to resume working on it, view it, etc. Each page would work the same as it always has when working on a document, with the multiple layers, art boards, multiple pages on the one artboard, etc. But the beauty here is, multiple pages for sketching, creating drafts, etc. Just like using a Paper & Pencil Sketch pad. Heck, if possible, get some cool page flipping look to make flipping through the pages possible as well even. Then not only would the "Shift+F9" help, but one can flip though their pages like a sketch pad and enjoy viewing their stuff that way too.

It seems that whenever I draw lines using the Affinity Designer, the program automatically smoothes/straightens/corrects them. I'd love for this feature to be able to be toggled on and off, because sketching would be a lot easier. Even though the feature is helpful in some ways, users should be able to draw the lines to their preference without having the software automatically correct it- which oftentimes results in the line looking like nothing I had drawn in the first place. I thought it was a problem with my pen settings (I use an Intuos 4 by Wacom) at first, but after experimenting with the settings I wasn't able to find anything that would toggle this automatic response on/off. While looking around, I also thought that it would be quite useful to see some more settings to adjust pen pressure and other pen qualities as well. I'm new to this software, and this happened to be one of the first things I noticed as I played around with the pen and paintbrush tool.

Hi everybody, I've created this book reading slug. The drawing is to be used as a colouring page for free download at a website for kids. I really like the abillity to draw using the pen tool and then add the pressure feeling afterwards :)
