  1. Suggestion : lorsqu'on choisit "nouveau document" à l'ouverture d'Affinity Publisher, pourquoi ne pas proposer dans la boite de dialogue le nombre de pages désirées pour le nouveau doc avec une valeur à 1 par défaut.
  2. I am using Designer on a 27" Mac. When I create a new document its window dimensions are small compared to the screen and it is off-set from the top-left corner by several inches. So the first thing I have to do for every new project is move the window and resize it. It seems like the defaults were set for a 13" MacBook. Is there a way for Designer to remember the window size and placement of the last document and use that for new documents?
  3. hey there. i just got my hands on affinity designer and have allready a question i couldn't find an answer to. in affinity designer you can set up your document with page size and so on, fine. but if i choose, for example an A4 paper and set the background to transparent i get an A4-page that is transparent but surroundet by a black frame all over. if i drag an object on this "black frame" (don't know how to call it), it is no longer visible, and that's pretty disturbing. So is there a possibility to remove that frame so one has this grey and white blocks pattern all over the screen, and only a line to show my document size?? thanks in advance, a random dude
  4. In this screenshot, which of the two tabs is the current document? This problem is worst when there are exactly two documents open. With three, then there's an odd-one-out that is brighter. But with only two, there's no indication whether bright or dark means 'current'. In fact, I'd say brightening the current document's tab is misleading, since if you continue the tab metaphor, the tab with a background colour closest to the canvas (i.e. darker) creates more of a tab-like affordance. This does actually cause me a problem. After a month of using the application quite regularly, I still find myself clicking the wrong tab.
  5. This morning, I loaded a .png file and tried to resize by using Document > Resize. Affinity just ignored it. The value in the width field remained the same. I tried entering a pixel value, a percentage, to no avail. I tried unlocking the layer, and rasterizing the layer, again to no effect. I tried it on a freshly-developed .awr file (Sony raw) and on a .jpg file, again to no avail. I then tried applying one of my macros which does a resize, and this worked fine. Reverting to Document > Resize still did not work. It worked fine yesterday! John
  6. What I'm missing is a quick way to reduce white space in my Designer documents, that is something akin to "Image | Crop" in Photoshop. Instead, I have to go through Document Setup every time, which is a pain.
  7. Is there a panel which displays basic file information - dimensions, color mode, size on disk etc.? Kill me, but I can't find it anywhere...
  8. It would be wonderful if you could pre-define a set of document sizes that you use a lot. For instance, I frequently need to make a document of 940x788, 96dpi and would like to have the "create artboard" option checked. Love to be able to give this a name and have it appear in the dropdown option list
  9. I'm aware that the focus of development has not been on essential workflow elements but I seriously beg you to have a look at some of the basic daily work topics for daily work users (it's not features that differentiates AP from PS ... it's workflow!) Taking a closer look at the windows handling: Dragging a window from the docked position to a free floating position leaves the windowns in XXL size instead of adjusting it to the current document size - it's a nightmare! Is there a chance to center the document within an optimised size of the window adapting to the current size of the document (within the current zoom state)? The situation gets even worse since the handles for adjusting the windwsize are active in such a small region that it's extremely hard to resize a window to the desired size. There's probably 2 pixel space that makes the cursor change from horizontal to diagonal and vertical resizing (or simply clicking in an unused space) ... why don't you make handling easier? Why don't you automatically center the document within a given window but leave it to the user to center the document with much effort? I would as well appreciate a button that releases all existing documents from a docked position to a free flaoting position, automatically rezising and cerntering them - what an easy programming task but a big improvement for the users ...if you want to be competitive (you got the features), start with meeting the basic handling requirements! Cheers, Timo
  10. Any ideas how to do this? Of course, there is a shortcut for a new layer, but I would like to skip this step. If not possible, maybe something for feature requests like a checkbox in the new documents dialog. Thx!
  11. Why is the resized jpeg image blurry even when the aspect ratio is preserved going to a smaller size?
  12. Is there any tutorial or article on how to decide which Preset to choose for Web Document in Affinity Designer? Especially if you are transferring from Affinity Designer designs to Bootstrap 4 Framework? And what if you are just creating a single graphics asset like logo, header, etc.?
  13. Hi! I lost my Adobe Illustrator from my other computer and had to start over so here I am with Affinity Design. I recently downloaded AD and have been messing around with it lately - I really like it! When I was working with Illustrator, I used to do majority of my designs in Landscape mode, rarely portait (although I will be doing more Portrait for Grade UI Kit!). I have been rotating the artboard but it's getting annoying each time - is there a way I could quickly select Portrait or Landscape mode for a specific artboard? Another side question - I really liked the visual assistance (distance, connecting at exact same anchor spot, middle part of the line, middle alignment of artboard, aligning, etc.) in the Illustrator and I do see it every now & then in AD, but just not as often as it was in AI. Is there a way to change this to increase assistance? Any helpful tips/tricks would be very much appreciated and looking forward to getting better & perfecting my skills with AD! Thank you, Dalton
  14. Hi everyone, another question of my team, When i open a Document in Affinity Photo, would affinity Photo warn me when the document is allready in use, so two people simultaniously wouldn´t be able to accidentially change the same document and override the other one ? i think for bigger companys this should at last be an option in the settings to turn it on. is it allready possible ? thanks
  15. Hi there, I just started with Affinity Photo on PC. I wanted to make a collage; I know how to place the individual images in a new document (canvas) with specific dimensions. When I add the images to the collage (they are screenshots from the desktop), I see the borders of the program I used to open the screen content in the first place, so I recut them already in Photo. When it comes to place these images into the new document (canvas) I created, somehow the borders appear again even though I made the recut. My most important question now is: how can I crop these images inside the document (again), as an image layer or after rasterisation of these? When I use the crop tool in the tool bar left, it would just let me crop the whole canvas, even if I selected the specific layer. And I don't want to use the eraser tool, just crop my selected image after pasting it in the collage-canvas. Thanks for your help!
  16. Coming from the Adobe suite, I'm used to being able to save document setups (dimensions, resolution, color space, margins, bleeds etc.) but I can't find that option in Affinity Designer. It's a real time saver when you frequently use the same document setup (A4, A5, business card).
  17. Hi, how should I setup a document settings for web page design? I am using macbook pro with 2560 x 1600 px resolution (native 1680 x 1050) and every time, I've made an export, the site was blurred or too big. I've tried every combinations of res and DPI, but no config works :-/ My best try was 1680 x 1050 px, 300 DPI. @1x was ok by dimensions but blurred, @2x was too big. When I use my design in Google Chrome and zoom out to 50% (using @2x export), the result was ideal (fit the screen and no blurred). But I can't making designs like that :-(
  18. The Save History with Document is a brilliant function, that allows to screencast and build clean making-ofs. I noticed though that there's a cap around the hundreds or so; the first steps in the list disappear progressively. On purpose?
  19. Hello, a few months use Affinity Photo, it is possible to create contact sheets directly or via a plug in ? Thanks
  20. When I start a new document with a non transparent background the BG is shown in white ... when adding a pixel layer now BG is shown white but the thumbnail shows the BG in black (or similar). Is this a bug? From my understanding unless the BG is NOT transparent there needs to be some kind of BG colour (and consequently some kind of "layer" containing this colour). Even if only a textlayer is applied the BG is exported as shown (white). Is it some kind of imaginative BG that still is exported but can't be edited nor it is shown in the layers list and where I can't choose the colour of? This seems not easy to understand and somehow inconsistent to me. Maybe I did not fully understand the concept? Cheers, Timo (latest Beta)
  21. When I open a photo for which I'd like to resize the dpi in Affinity Photo, I go to Resize Document and I see the default dpi is 72. When I change the dpi to 150, the pixels adjust accordingly. However, when I export that photo, reimport to Affinity Photo, and go back to Resize Document, it shows dpi as 72 again. Why does it not show 150? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I want to ensure these are best quality for printing. Thanks!
  22. Is there a way to keep a swatch name when creating a palette from a document, All colours that are created have the document file name followed by a number, Not easy to identify when colours are similar to each other.
  23. Using the app's icon as the icon for every document is very confusing. Since it is so easy to implement, please have proper CFBundleTypeIconFiles.
  24. Under Document > Rotate there are two Rotate 90 Clockwise one should be Rotate 90 Counterclockwise
  25. I didn't see this covered, so I'll add it here. I just received the beta of Affinity Photo. I opened an image and it needed rotating. I went to Document > Rotate "Counterclockwise". but the only option was two "clockwise" rotations. I selected the second one on the list and it did rotate the image counterclockwise. Just wanted you to know. Thanks
