  1. I'd like to clarify the role of the 'Document' when using artboards. I've created a number of files to combine into a single brochure and each one is on an artboard (to ease the final PDF export). To create the combined file I wanted to start with a blank document and embed all the files as kind of 'pages' in the order of my choosing. The problem I find is that the default 'Document' on a blank new file can't be deleted, except when you create an artboard, then it disappears (superceded by the artboard). So I have to start with one of my 'pages', then add more artboards, then re-save the file. But the starting 'page' won't be embedded in the same way as the rest. It just feels slightly disjointed and I wonder if I'm approaching this wrong?
  2. The snapshot button is enabled even if no document is opened. This results in a crash:
  3. It would be nice to have an option for the "default font size". This could also be saved within a document and be set as "advanced options" if one creates a new document.
  4. I "Created New" with Artboard checked and Portrait unchecked, Type = Print, DPI = 400. Thereafter when I go back to Document Setup, DPI is back to 300 and Portrait is now checked and locked. If I just hit enter the artboard switches to portrait. So once the new doc is created I can't change Document Setup. Seems like the Document Setup window is ignoring previous settings?
  5. Hi, Would be great if you could select something and then right click to make document the size of the selection (crop document to selection). Perhaps with an option to enter some padding around the object. /Sten Hougaard
  6. Hi, I frequently need to create fairly light coloured designs, and that is a royal pain* on a transparent or white background, especially if parts of what I do need transparency. At present I draw a page-size box, colour it and lock it in the background (to stop it from being selected), but this feels a kludge - did I miss something? Is there an alternative to "white" for a non-transparent background? Is there a way in which I can set an alternative colour for the drawing background? Even just changing the grey boxes in the white-and-grey boxes that represent a transparent background would be a help. The idea is thus to define an alternative for what remains transparent in export. Cheers, P * presidential pain for nations without royalty :)
  7. Hi! I would like to ask for having some features similar to Freehand, with wich I used to create everything: logos, baners... and also LAYOUTS. I made even a newspaper :) I know it´s not between the core skills Freehand was designed for, but I was thankful because of its possibilities. It is the only thing I miss: A MULTIPAGE BOARD. Right now, you can create ONLY one page per document. I wonder if it will be possible to create several pages in the same document.
  8. Simple password protection of a document. Much like Pages, Numbers has. There are certain documents I would like to encrypt and protect. For professional work which sometimes requires some protection, or clients who have classified projects, I would like to have some password option.
  9. Hi All I am very new to Affinity photo and have learned much by searching this forum. However with this task I am stuck so impelled to ask for advice. I am trying to change my photo dpi from 72 to 100 and higher. I use "Document Resize" and it does change but when I export it to a desktop folder the "Info" indicates that it is still only 72 dpi. I am after best quality of course, so from reading here I am using "Lanczos 3 (non separable) I have tried with the resample box checked and again with it unchecked to no avail. Where am I going wrong ? (2015 macbook Pro) Andy
  10. Hello Affinity team, I cannot tell if this is by design or just an oversight in regards to Designer and Photo… I am unable to add any guides to the document while any tool is selected other than the black arrow move tool. While working and wanting to quickly throw in a guideline, I find it to be an interruption to have to switch a tool just to add a guide to a specific location, I feel like it should always be available to drag onto the canvas at (well, almost) anytime. If a tool other than the black arrow is selected, the ability to add guides does work using the guide manager as a workaround, however using the guide manager is not nearly as fluid and can be cumbersome compared to the natural maneuver of just dragging it in where you want it. Tested using latest builds as of July 25, 2015 Thank you
  11. My question right now is how to compile multiple images into a layout for a website header. I created a new document as a web file with a transparent background. I created a new layer, opened my first image, and copy/pasted it into the document, but it pasted onto the background and not the new layer. So I can't move it, and I'm not sure how to put it onto a different layer and keep the background layer clear. As a disclaimer: I'm trying to learn Affinity Photo without prior experience with Photoshop or any other similar editing program. I would love any help someone can offer! Thanks so much! :-) ~ Stacey
  12. A feature of Photoshop, I use a lot is to create new files from clipboard content. As I want to leave PS behind with Affinity Photo, it would be cool to have this functionality.
  13. Good afternoon, If I decide to resize a document from an original photo (3888*2592 px) to a format I wish (700*265 px) I lose a lot of sharpness. Can some one tell me how to resize with retaining sharpness. Regards, Maarten
  14. Hello Guys, I have a small problem. I imported a PDF file, what I made previous in Adobe Illustrator. The document size is standard A4. The problem is the background colour. I don't know why but It became a bit brownish instead of white. If I open a new document, I is white. Any idea? If I put a white rectangle on It, It blends to the BG so I think It would be some colour space issue. Thanks Gergo
  15. Hi there, I am sorry for asking that stupid question - I am feeling very ashamed about this. How do I copy and paste objects like a simple circle between documents? When I press copy (e.g. CMD C) and then CMD V in a new document the circle gets not inserted. I only get a new empty layer called "(Frame Text)" and it's empty blue stroked modify box. Please see picture. What am I missing? Where is my mistake? Please help! Thanks!
  16. As for print production margins are essential, it would be great to get some improvements on these. If all margins do have the same size, it would be helpful just to enter one of them and carry it over to the other margins. This should be activatable by a tick as not every time all margins have the same size. When I activate margins, the size of the margins should be added to document size automatically depending on the entered value. This brings the advantage that the original page size is always visible, there are less calculation errors and it would become possible to export the document with and without margins. If margins are set, they should be visible on the page all the time. But there should be a view option to hide them if necessary. I think a good example how to handle margins could be Adobe Illustrator. Thanks for review.
  17. Hi Guys, Not sure how everyones workflows are but I usually never work in the given document/canvas. Is this possible to turn on/off? when opening previous works they are invisible because lots of the attributes are off canvas. (hope this makes sense) cheers,
  18. I'm using Affinity to create a magazine for my dissertation and I wondered how I would be able to create a double page spread instead of having to design on two separate pages. I find the programme much easier to use than InDesign and since I've been using it from July, I now don't use any other programme to create content. Additionally I want to know if there is a way to import the pages into InDesign as I will have to put them into one document just so that it can be printed next May.
