  1. Got some crazy activity going on with picture frames in Affinity Publisher 2. When I have pictures in picture frames the dimensions when using the move tool to resize etc works fine until I lock children. When this is done the box scaling goes crazy, shrinking smaller than should be when shrinking, expanding larger than should be when stretched, and not settling until released and reselected. Unlocking children returns behaviour to OK. Thought it may be high res screen issues, but acts the same on an HD and changed resolutions. Note the scale is actually wrong in the transform panel too. File in video was newly created after having this happen all over an 80 page doc… thought maybe memory, but no this is just one page one pic. Lock Children Picture Frame Publisher v2.1.mp4
  2. Hi, I am designing some stickers for a car livery. I placed a render of the car in Affinity Designer, scaled it with the Measure Tool and now I have all of the stickers on the car with the correct size in mm. I need to have the stickers cut by a copy shop which uses Illustrator and I would like to copy all of my stickers into a file and send it to them in the correct size. The issue I have is that whenever I export a the PDF from Affinity and open it in Illustrator, none of the sizes are correct. Is there a way to have Illustrator keep the exact scaling from Affinity Designer? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
  3. OM System OM-1 80Mp Hi-Res image pixel dimensions are 10368 x 7776 pixels, Photo 2 displays 10388 x 7792.
  4. Hi, I've been using the first version since it's beginnings and love it. I have a little problem though with the version 2: I noticed that after converting the file from Raw to JPG, the dimensions change as soon as I open/close it with the version 2 compared to the version 1. The file size is originally 7952 x 5304 pixels. Can you explain to me what I'm doing wrong or is it a "glitch" in version 2? Thanks
  5. Trying to create this very tiny sticker for a label. The sticker should be 0.7x0.1” tried creating an art board and separate document with those dimensions and as you can see they are clearly not the same but affinity is telling me they’re the same size. What’s the fix? IMG_0730.MOV
  6. Everytime i create more than one artboard the guide lines starting point begins from the first artboard, and as i edit the location i have to compensate the pixel distance even if i type the numbers.. and sometimes it gets back to zero, i know i must be doing somenthing worng.. Or it supposed to work this way? FullSizeRender.MOV
  7. Hello all! Currently working on some ID cards for work, and the printers have asked for a file with editable text. I have succeeded in making an editable PDF in Publisher, however when I reopen the file in Publisher to test it, when I go to replace the text (which the printers will do) the dimensions of the text box are not the same; any text that would go beyond the border, will automatically create a new line - instead of extending the text box. In the original file, the text box is spread to the margin line (48mmX2.7mm), however when re-opened the text boxes are shrunk to fit the text. I am assuming that the printers will use Photoshop or Illustrator, I was wondering if anyone could reassure me that my file will work the way I need it to in the Adobe softwares or if there's any way to fix the text dimensions so that they don't adjust? (Side note- I noticed Publisher can export into .PSD, if there's a way to keep the file editable while keeping the text boxes fixed then that would be absolutely lush). I hope this all makes sense, I can attach the file if people need to mess around with it. Thanks all - look forward to learning!
  8. Hi I have several rounded objects on a file that is 3840×2160px If I change this to 2560×1440, all the rounded objects in the design get squared, buttons, switch sliders, etc. Same happens if I change on document settings from iPad retina to Default in the list for "Actual Size Zoom." Also, once I click Ok on the dialog Affinity crashes time and again. I have a video, but being client work, I prefer to not post it here, in case it helped. Any help to avoid this? Thanks
  9. Hi Serif! I'm Maurizio, and I'm a graphic and comics student from Rome. I'm having trouble with the iPad version of Designer and Photo. I have a 2nd generation iPad Pro (10.5) with iPadOS 14.5. In the iPad Settings section I saw that Designer and Photos take up a lot of space, especially Designer which takes up more or less 74 GB. Although I have closed some documents and deleted some history, it seems that this indirectly increased the space occupied by the app. Before deleting some documents, the space occupied by Affinity Designer was about 55 GB. How can I reduce it? And how can I see more information about the documents open within the program? I can only see the size of a document when I save it as a file (.afdesign or .afphoto) and only on the Files app, but I'm not sure it's the same size as an "open document" within the program. There is also the cache of the edit history (which will be deleted once the document is saved) to be considered in the space occupied. It’s frustrating not being able to fully and directly view and modify all document information within the app. It would be really interesting to see this feature in a new update! Thanks for your attention, I wish you the best! Keep it up and have a nice day! Maurizio
  10. The Transform panel does not show Height, it shows Length in all Affinity apps. A can of pop standing up is approx 4¾" high x 2 5/8" wide (120 cm H x 65 cm W). Lying down, it is approx 2 5/8" high by 4¾" wide. However, in all three Affinity applications, a pop can lying down shows as 4¾" HIGH x 2 5/8" wide. On other words, the Transform panel reports LENGTH (not height) regardless of orientation. Please see sample illustrations.
  11. It would be nice to adjust the rules with a scale, to draw for example floor plans in real dimension. The scale my be adjust free and with pre-assigned selections. A Tool which draws, illustrate the dimensions, and angels to would complete this request. Update: I attached an example Dimension_Example.afdesign
  12. Hi guys! I was working on some social media ads for a client and created a simple template for all major social media ad sizes including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat and Reddit. This is a simple file with art boards for all your ad designs. It could come in handy next time you need to create a simple promo banner or ad for a client. Cheers! Social Media Banner Ads.afdesign
  13. Hi, I bought a bookshelf and was hoping anyone could give me the proper dimensions on the Affinity Workbooks, I know they’re relatively the same in size and I would love to make them the focal point of my shelf. thanks in advance!
  14. Just in case anyone is interested, I was playing around and came up with these simple dimensioning objects (in the attached afdesign file). To use them accurately you will have to snap to the grid, they don’t have automatic measurements, and they don’t work in all situations, but they can be used for simple drawings without too much fuss (you can see them working in the GIF). You might need to adjust some elements in some copies of the objects to make your drawing look right but it’s not too difficult. You can change the “Dimensions” Text Style font to get a different look and you can change the “Dimensions” colour in the “Dimensioning” Palette to create a quick blueprint (see last attached image). affinity-dimension-lines.afdesign
  15. Hey there, I got an issue with designer when exporting some art boards. They tent to not have the same pixel amount as my art board. I have added a screenshot to show what I mean. This really bothers me and It would be great if you could fix this :) Thank you, Nushara
  16. I have already noticed the problem with version 1.8.0x and communicated that the document size could not be changed afterwards, unless you change the DPI value minimally and the desired length and width (dimensions) of the document is changed!
  17. Hi there. Just upgraded to Affinity Photo 1.7.0.367 and found that the crop tool doesn't work as it did in previous versions. I need to create an "actual size" image of a 600 x 600px section of a larger image at 300dpi. This is to help show online customers who are buying prints of the image the kind of detail and resolution they can expect in the real world. Say the original image is 3000 x 9000px. In v1.7, when I set the Absolute Size to 600 x 600px, I'm just presented with a square crop, the full width of the image. This isn't an absolute size crop of 600 x 600px - it's just a 600:600 ratio. It then crops the section and resizes it to 600 x 600px, regardless of the size of the area selected on the original image. So if I select an area less than 600 x 600px on the original image, it then scales it up and interpolates it. All this means there's no apparent difference between using Absolute Size and using those dimensions as a crop ratio. As a result, I can no longer show the detail or quality of prints with any accuracy at all. Please can we have Absolute Size back? Thanks. Rob
  18. When creating a new document, you can setup the page dimensions. After creating the document it is possible to set the dimensions of the spread, I think it would be useful to have the option to set the dimensions on spread size while creating a new document. I noticed this because my book print lab only gives spread dimensions.
  19. Very necessary tool to indicate the size of the objects, similar to CorelDraw. As well as panels with information about the geometry of the current object: area, perimeter, curve length, etc.
  20. I love the little dimension lines that pop up when you move a feature to show you how close/far the feature is from the edge of your document. This is a very small problem, but in close quarters, the handle you use to rotate the feature you are moving can obscure the dimension line.
  21. Although I've been using AP and AD for some time now, I haven't really got to grips with absolute dimensions. I assume they are "in" there somwhere, but I haven't really found them, or how to control them. Today I wanted to share a few bathroom designs with a friend, and I knocked up a few using AD, and emailed them to him. However I had to guess the dimensions for my images. What I really wanted to do was to specify units (e.g. metres - today) and then to be able to put in absolute values for lengths in metres. What I got was OK, but it would have been better if I could have linked to units. Also some people might want to work in cm or mm, or even feet and inches. Maybe this is possible, but a search for "absolute dimensions in Affinity Designer" revealed a quite interesting video about how to use the pen and pencil tools in ways I did not know before, but did not address the dimension issue I was trying to find out about. Perhaps this information is in the Workbook(s) for AP and AD.
  22. Just thought I'd share this. I frequently have to add dimensions to my design work to communicate to developers the specifics of a layout. Currently, there isn't a feature to create these in AD, so I've cobbled together my own workaround version using constrained objects. The benefit is it's pretty easy to resize the dimension to match the size of the element being measured. The downside, you will still have to enter all the numeric dimension manually. Ugh! I know, but a quick check of the Transform module will tell you what size to enter. One other flaw with this system is it doesn't work so well with very small measurements. Anything below 10px vertical and 30px horizontal will have to be manually adjusted because of limitations to how constraints work. Just resize one to below these thresholds and you'll see what I mean. If you know to avoid this situation, please share. To help with this, I made some smaller measurements to get you started. One other item I added to the file is a dark and light overlay to help make the dimensions easier to read. Use the dark one on dark interfaces and the light on lighter ones. There are a couple examples included that illustrate how to use them. It may seem that the downsides outweigh the benefit, but if you have to have dimensions, then even the seemingly small benefit of easy resizing adds up to hours of time saved on large projects. Hopefully, you find this useful. dimensions_template.afdesign
  23. A dimensions tool to calculate, show, and scale objects(Similar to CAD), this feature is really useful, I hope someone agree.
  24. When I export Artboards as PDFs their size (and ratio) isn't matching what I've set in Affinity Designer when I open them in other programs (eg. Adobe Reader). For example, exporting a series of Artboards that are 8.5" x 11" appear to be closer to 11.5" x 14.5" when viewed at 100% in Adobe. I've tried exporting a single layer document with the above dimensions and get the same issue. Am I missing a setting somewhere??
  25. Hi again, here another Question has come up about a affinity Photo feature... in Photoshop by scaling or moving objects , i can scall objects by using % ore move them relatively or absolutely. Now how do i do this in the transform area ? Did i miss anything ? Can i transform a rectangular object for example relativeley to its positoin and also absolutely on the document, can i type in i want my rectangular get scalled up 150% ? and if so where do i find theses settings ? greetings, Tom
