  1. I am after any pointers you have actauled used to open RAW images as you would in Photoshop (This is referred to as Camera RAW - I think) Basicaly i edited any images at this stage in Photoshop with all my RAW images. So I not asking how can you import or open a RAW pic in AP on a ipad. But as AP does not have this feature yet ? How do you find a work around, i like answers to be from people who have actual found work around, rather than here a 10 mins video which might help. So personal experiences appreciated welcome Rob
  2. In the development persona all sorts of adjustments can be applied to a picture, like contrast, clarity, saturation, etc. When using the Overlay paint tool, these adjustments can be applied locally to a chosen part of the picture. However, when using the Overlay paint tool the Clarity adjustment can not be engaged anymore, all other adjustments can. I tried to catch it in the video below. Am I doing something wrong? Is this intentional, or is it a bug? E46337B5-AE5B-4D98-975E-CBBCEA472E17.MOV
  3. Ive noticed recently that when cropping in Photo Persona, in order to exit the crop tool one has to choose the Apply button, otherwise the crop dosnt take place. But when editing a raw image in Develop Persona, there is no 'Apply' button and all one needs to do is to choose another tool, such as the 'Move' tool, and the crop is finalised. Is this just one of those things that weren't planned well and I just have to get used to, or is there some rational behind this?
  4. Loving Affinity so far! A quirk I can't find any info on in this forum relates to the appearance of the brush head when using the Surface Pen. (I'm on a Windows 10 Surface Studio.) When selecting the overlay tool, my mouse's cursor will display the brush as I manipulate it around the file; when using the Pen it shows nothing -- though the tool itself still paints on the image. Any ideas? Thanks!
  5. I'd like to suggest the curves sub panel under Tones in the Develop Persona have the input / output values displayed for given points. In addition, I'd like this panel to include an 'editor' feature, whereby the option of entering the numerical values for each point on the curve. It would also be appreciated if the x and y axis (0-255) could be delimitated in 10ths like Photoshop. Either replacing quarter tones, or, in addition to the quarter tones. :) Nick
  6. Hi, i'm new to these forums and the Affinity suite, please forgive me if this has been brought up before, a cursory search did not return relevant posts for me. I'm looking for a way to synchronise presets in the develop persona between computers and Affinity Photo and Affinity Photo Beta. There seems to be no UI for this, but perhaps these presets can be synchronised between preference storage, where are the develop presets stored on macOS?
  7. Quick question - I have just started to using Panasonic RW2 files in AP from a GH5. It seems a lot harder to get a pleasing result than with the Nikon raws I've used in the past. The default treatment is very flat, undersaturated but I'm having trouble producing a pleasing developed image. (see attached image for example) Ramping up the saturation only helps marginally, curves adjustments too. Does anyone have a good workflow for GH5 image processing they have established? Many thanks.
  8. Hi, I am having trouble with opening RAW files. It seems to have happened after the programme crashed last night (I didn't bother to restart it as it was past my bedtime) For some reason today, when I try to open a raw file, I am getting a weird purple hue. It seems to be taking a lot longer to open them too. I know it's not the files as they are opening ok in both Cannon DPP4 and Faststone. I have been using Affinity Photo for months now and this is the first issue I have had with it. Attaching a quick set of screen shots so you can see what I mean.
  9. Hi, I would like to be able to limit the effect of the Detail Refinement feature in Develop persona to relevant edges to avoid emphasizing noise in smooth areas. Please add option of edge detection with a slider to control edge strength in masking the sharpening effect. I understand something similar can be achieved in Photo persona with result of Detect Edges filter used as mask, but it requires Developing the image first (destructive step), and also the lots of steps required are cumbersome for a standard requirement against sharpening to avoid the noise.
  10. If you rotate an image in develop persona, then when you select develop, only 2/3 of the photo survives. This must be a bug? IOS 11.2.5, Affinity 1.6.5.61.
  11. Hi Team, I am looking to replace my Lightroom Photoshop workflow with Affinity and other cataloging Tool. I was interested in trying to find out if I can Develop RAW file like we do either in Lighroom or in Camera RAW. I wanted to know if we can set Black and White points using Alt key to ensure that we are just before clipping. Let me know if we have any such options in Affinity Photo Thanks Krishna
  12. Is the Fujifilm GFX any closer to being supported in the raw develop module? It still renders with around 400px shift, losing a portion of the image. It works with the Apple engine but the color shifts quite a bit. The last thread I saw about this issue was in March or April. The color I get with the altered image is superb so I, and I’m sure others, are anxious to see this happen. Any updates or time frame at all?
  13. Hi, I would like to suggest the following for the Develop and Photo Personas ... it is only my thought that it may be split between the 2 because of the ease of use as a filter vs an adjustment ... DEVELOP PERSONA Add Luminosity Masking Add Adaptive Sharpening adjustment as it is more suited to RAW development because it doesn't affect large areas of solid color in the image, e.g. sky PHOTO PERSONA Adaptive Wide Angle Lens correction filter as distortions are not consistent across a image from edge to center Keystone Horizontal/Vertical which would allow you to adjust parts of the image not just from the outside using the perspective tool.
  14. Is it possible to open RAW files in Affinity Photo that have been developed/cropped in Lightroom with the crop/development applied so that there is no need to start again or will Affinity only open the original RAW file?
  15. Hi, I suggest that, when in the Develop persona, hitting Return be configured as meaning Develop. Same thing in the Liquify persona, Return should be made to mean Apply. It would save time and avoid a lot of superfluous mousing around. Thanks!
  16. Hi Folks, New user here - came across something I can't figure out how to fix. When I open a DNG file shot at 10mm on APS-C (which makes it a pretty distorted fisheye), Affinity Photo auto-corrects the distortion when it opens the RAW file into develop mode. Unfortunately for those rare occasions where we might want to maintain either the original fisheye or some lesser degree of correction, it seems impossible to do so. I've tried opening the RAW file and immediately deselecting "Lens Correction", but it's still straightened and cropped. Not sure what else I can do to have Affinity open the RAW file and keep it's original as-shot geometry. Thanks!
  17. When I rotate a CR2 image 90º clockwise in the Develop module it does just what it should. However, when I finish and it goes into the Photo persona the lower part is a white transparency. I've tried this on several portrait shot images and they all do the same. I'm using OS X 10.12.6. Here's one example.
  18. Hi, would it be possible to add a way to save the job done in develop persona before the complete process is done and be able to start again from where we were at that point? I hope I'm clear :-) Best Regards Cyril
  19. I saw this today and it would seem a great idea for Affinity Photo. Possibly in the develop persona where it's more about interpretation of greyscale data than RGB data.
  20. The Blemish Removal Tool enables you to remove small imperfections from images with a single click. The tool is available in both Photo Persona and Develop Persona To remove blemishes: Use the Layers panel to select a layer to work on. Click Blemish Removal Tool from the Tools panel. Adjust the context toolbar settings. Do one of the following: Click on the target area. Drag from the target area to the sample area. But there is no Layers Panel in Develop Persona And though the blemish tool does not work in the Develop Persona Pls advise. Cees
  21. 1. The Most marketplace is requesting .ai file format, is it possible to export file format to .ai? I hope marketplace slowly can accept .afdesign next. 2. Is it possible to shorten the file format? maybe .ad .afd .afde or other shorther formats. it is just my thinking, may be a further development material. Thank You
  22. Hello, regarding overlays in the "Develop" persona, i have some questions and would like to get clarification (sorry, coming from non-English version): 1. I cannot use some functions for overlays. It seems that i cannot use any sharpening, denoising, curves and clarity. I *can* use "Exposure", "Saturation", "White Balance" etc. So there's no *local* sharpening or noise reduction on raw file editingin "Develop". Right? 2. Regarding the Overlays panel: To activate a specific overlay, i have to click them in the Overlays panel. There aren't "pins" in the image. 3. Regarding the Overlays panel 2: If i have 2 or 5 overlays, they all appear alike as "Brush Overlay" in the Overlays panel. It's difficult to know which "Overlay" entry refers to which image area, because in the panel the overlays aren't numbered or clarified by a mask thumbnail. Or do i miss something? (Same applies seemingly to "Graduated Overlays" – if you have 2 or more graduated overlays, they all appear alike as "Graduated Overlay" in the Overlays panel. But here, upon clicking "Overlay", you see the red mask and the marquee, which makes recognition easier than with Brush Overlays where upon clicking, nothing in the image display changes.) Thanks!
  23. When I open the image for developing using open with Affinity Photo i can see all of the adjustments on the panel but no ability to commit the changes and move to the main programme. I have tried Toggle views Reset Studio Hide Studio Restarting Mac If i simply open affinity and then drag the NEF file in it will skip the develop window and won't let me go back to it. Macbook Pro on Sierra 10.12.6 (16G29) Affinity Photo 1.4.3 Any ideas greatly welcomed. Ben
  24. I've developed some RAW photos, tweaked them in the Photo Persona and exported them as JPGs. Problem is, they have this weird green cast when I preview the jpg and are completely unusable. However, when I bring the exports back into Affinity, the shift goes away? Would this be a color management problem? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
  25. When using features such as selection refinement and overlays, it would be nice if we could change the matte colour, for cases where the subject/background already have a lot of red in them.
