  1. Hey all, Photo continues to ruin my RAW images. I just want to make girl look pretty but as soon as I open an image like this in Photo it just ruins the coloring of her outfit :( Pay attention to her top, it is nice and white on the left image, ruined blue on the right. NO EDITS are made to the right image. Why!?!? Thanks, Shaw
  2. Hi All! I am new to photo editing in general, so probably a newb question. See attached, when I open various photos like this, that have LED lights, they do not appear as the original. Other photos of LEDs open the same as the original. This is occurring mainly in blues and purples. The raw is a .NEF file directly from a nikon. No edits were made to it. All options are unchecked in all the right hand tabs in develop persona. Please help!
  3. When working with lens correction in the Develop Persona, a "Crop to opaque" option would be really useful (the same as in the panorama function). I'd highly appreciate if you could implement this feature. Thanks in advance. Keep up the excellent work! :)
  4. I am having an issue with the new GoPro Hero 5 and its RAW photo capabilities, here is my workflow and what happens - 1) copy .GPR (GoPro's raw file format) to my mac 2) use Adobe DNG Converter to convert .GPR file to .DNG (.GPR is a supported file type) 3) open converted DNG in Affinity Photo Here is where things get wonky.... All previews of the JPEG (outputted from GoPro) and DNG (after conversion) look perfectly normal (when opened in preview, or when viewing the thumbnail) HOWEVER in Affinity Photo, the raw DNG file is flipped horizontally - as if it is being viewed in a mirror. Not only is it flipped visually, but the overlay brush is flipped - i.e. clicking the brush 1/4 from the left of the image results in a brush stroke 1/4 from the RIGHT of the image!!!! the only way i've gotten around it is to do all developing of the raw image while it is reversed (which renders the brush overlay completely useless), develop, then flip the image horizontally before export. This is a MASSIVE inconvenience as it renders a feature of Affinity Photo completely useless. I have not tried the gradient overlay in a vertical form yet, but I imagine it would behave the same way (gradient would go right to left if placed left to right)
  5. Dear community, I am facing some problems with some RAW files that have high light exposure and get some tendency for the sky to burn out. When I open the RAW file in Affinity Photo develop persona (v.1.5.1 Mac) I get some purple skies I do not get when opening the file with Apple preview or Photoshop. Also the ready made JPEG does not show any purples in the sky. Are there any adjustments that can be done to fix this problem? I am using Panasonic Lumix GX 80 / GX 85 / GX 7 Mark II however it is called in different countries. See the screenshots below in the upper left corner. Thanks !
  6. Hello, how can you store in the riders "Simple", "Lens", "Departement" with defaults in a total specification in Develop persona. Is for me important for different cameras / lenses with one "click" an overall development per camera to be able to make and no single specifications use. One possibility would be to realize this via makros, but in Develop Persona macro is not possible. If there is no solution for now, please include in the request. Thanks and greets Dieter
  7. I'd like to raise awareness to an issue that's bothering me (and apparently a few others) for over a month now. At first I hoped that my muscle-memory would get used to it; but a few hundred raw photos later, it's still as annoying as the first day. I'm referring to the way one can exit/quit/cancel development: it's very counter-intuitive. - It's totally understandable that one cannot proceed editing the image, if it hasn't been developed first. - It's also understandable that the adjustments in the develop persona, cannot be retained, unless the image gets developed. here are the quirks and some workarounds: - If develop persona were implemented as a modal, the Esc key should allow one to... escape. - If develop persona is not a modal and is a window/tab then Cmd+W and Cmd+Q should both allow you to close the document just like pressing the Cancel or X button (of the tab). The current message box when pressing Cmd+Q/W, is not meaningful: it's merely stating that you have to click elsewhere to cancel/close/quit. Why all the hoops and loops? This is particularly inconvenient when having dozens of develop personas open and you decide it's time to quit the application (or close them all). What could had been done with Cmd+Q is now mouse gymnastics! You have to close every develop persona individually, with the mouse, before you can quit the application. - The cancel button, and the X button, shouldn't act differently: As it is, the X button never asks for confirmation, whereas Cancel always does! - when you haven't made any adjustment in the develop persona, canceling should not ask for confirmation. It should be performed silently. - The confirmation should be rephrased. The yes no buttons are not very helpful. Yes, I want to cancel? Yes I understand? Yes I want the file saved? Yes I want it developed? If it were a rare occuring dialog, it would be okay to have and read all the text to know the meaning of Yes/No, but I see this dialog more often than I am asked to save a file, and I guess others too; so the buttons have to be as self-explanatory as possible; or the text as short as possible. eg. "Discard Changes?" Yes/No An example (not the most thought out apparently) follows - it shows two self-explanatory options: "Cancel & Discard" and "resume developing". It could had been "Discard Changes" and "do not discard" or it could even had been 3 buttons such as "Discard Changes", "resume"/"return" and "develop and Save as...", but you get my drift: it needs rephrasing. - Pressing the Esc key while the confirmation is displayed, should work (currently it does nothing). Hope this helps :) -Fotis Now that I got it out of the system,I have to say that I've started to really appreciating the Serif raw engine (and its speed) compared to other raw develop options!!!!
  8. I have only recently noticed this since I rarely use Separated Mode and have only added a second monitor to my work environment in the past few days. When opening a raw file, in the Develop Persona and in Separated Mode, the Basic Panel positions itself in the middle of the screen and runs from the top to bottom of the screen. I cannot reach the top of the panel to close it, nor can I move it. I am able to extend either side edge, but that’s all. This behavior is repeatable on my machine on both the MAS and Beta versions (1.4.1 and 1.4.2 beta 4) of Affinity Photo. I have tried: * restarting Affinity Photo * starting up Affinity from launch while holding control key * restarting the computer (MacBook Pro) * reinstalling Affinity Photo I should note that this happens whether or not I am using one monitor or two. Any ideas? TIA

  10. Question on Develop persona and overlays: 1) There doesn't seem to be a way to rename an overlay. I'd like to do that and I'm either missing it or would suggest it as a feature request. 2) is there a way, when editing an overlay, to show the mask with a hot key? Say I have three overlays and jump between them. I go back to one of the overlays and want to see the red mask area again. Can I do that? 3) Toggle on/off overlay. Is this possible? I can cut the opacity to zero but would love a checkbox to turn off an overlay. Thanks in advance, Peter G.
  11. Hello from Germany, I like to use Affinity Photo a lot - but this bug here often is very painful: Repeatedly I had issues with overlays in the Develop Persona-> 1. create an overlay 2. don't do anything in the picture 3. the overlay was (maybe) created by mistake and I want to delete it 4. when the created and unused overlay is selected and deleted, it takes the whole picture with it... So when I used several overlays and the last one ist created by mistake and I want to delete it immediately, all the work done before is wasted... Maybe, when the overlay is created an in the list it is marked as the selected one and not the master something in the back of the program is still pointing at the master... Thanks for your great work on this product. I hope, this bug will be fixed soon.
  12. Hi I notice the image quality drops after I converted the raw image in develop persona. Please advise how to get it resolve . I will be able to upload the images(42mb) for reference if necessary. Thanks and regards, Ekoh
  13. Hi, I have three RAWs with exactly the same content but different exposures. Now I want to cut the same area in all three images before going to Photo Persona. How is this possible?
  14. Noticed its not possible to name the brush or gradient overlays when added. Would be good to know what overlay is doing what on the images.
  15. Hello, I have been having problems with RAW photos becoming very pixelated after I push the "develop" button and move into the "photo persona". My photos look good while I am editing them in the develop persona, but as soon as I develop them, the image quality changes for the worst. I also experimented with not doing any edits at all when first opening a RAW image and just pushing "develop" and still got a pixelated photo when Affinity reloaded into Photo Persona. I checked what the pixels were in "change image size" under document and noticed that the images were only coming out at 96 pixels. Trying to resize to 300 pixels while in photo persona did not improve the photos. I did not see any edit options in "Develop Persona" for choosing image size or pixel quality. Im guessing there must be something I can do in Develop P to keep the quality of my photos? I am getting much better end results by just shooting in high quality JPEG and not going through the develop persona, through I know this shouldnt be the case- my RAW images look good when I first open them or when i open them on Preview. Help?
  16. Hello, I encountered this issue when I had multiple documents open in the Develop Persona in Affinity Photo. When I show Shadow/Highlight/Tone clipping and switch to a different document, the behavior of the buttons becomes inverted so that it shows clipping on the other documents when the buttons are "off" rather than "on". Thanks, - Tony
Viel Spaß dabei Euer Jack Bauer Hello, although I still have no Internet... A new YouTube Tutorial. How to rescue an underexposed (waste) photo. That works well with RAW-Files, but also with JPG. Have fun with the video. Bye Jack Bauer
  18. Hi! When in develop persona, I can't make work the brush overlay in the top part of a vertical orientacion photo. If the photo is horizontal orientacion, all ok. When vertical it only works in the 2/3 bottom of the image! Very frustrating!
  19. I have a Sigma DP2 Quattro and while that camera is partially supported, I get better results from converting X3F files to DNG with X3F Tools and then develop the DNG in Affinity Photo (adjust white balance tint and it looks pretty good). The problem is that Photo doesn't honor the crop instructions. It does honor the size of the output file (5424 x 3616), but displays thick black borders along two sides and cuts off the opposite sides. Older versions of Iridient Developer used to do the same but their newest version works correctly. Here's a link to the tool in question: https://github.com/Kalpanika/x3f/releases/tag/0.54 Here's the announcement on Dpreview, you can find links to some DP Quattro RAW files (too big to upload) in that thread as well: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3890093 I have some ideas on how you can improve your own Sigma Quattro rendering, but the best would likely be to contact the authors of X3F Tools about integrating their import code in your own software. Their noise reduction is rather impressive...
  20. Hi, i made a RAW file look fine in develop persona, clicked on develop and something magic happend: the result looks very bad as you can see in the attached files. I tried a few things and found out, that this only happens if the lens correction tool is unchecked. Open RAW file, develop, everything is OK. Open RAW file, uncheck lens correction, develop, nothing is OK. RAW files from EOS 350D, 20D and 40D, all the same Problem. Sure, there is a simple workaround but i think this should not happen. regards Ulli Werner PS.: I am not sure if "lens correction" is the right term because i'm using the german version. In the german version the feature is called "Objektivkorrektur"
  21. How to increase Grid line thickness - Affinity Photo The Grid lines are too thin for me. In Develop Persona I Show Grid and the open Grid and Axis Manager but I don't see a way to increase Grid line thickness. Can this be done and how?
  22. Guides in the Develop Persona - Affinity Photo They would be most helpful when using such things as Lens Correction for example. Aligning horizons or with any horizontal or vertical object would be an example use.
  23. I'd like to use Guides for Lens Correction in Develop Persona in Affinity Photo How can I Enable Guides in Develop Persona? I enable View>Show Rulers and then View>Show Guides. There is no Move Tool to drag a Guide out. There is no View>Guides Manager.
