  1. Some brush and design work. Using AP.

  3. Hello ! this is not to mention a bug but more of a question and if it does not exist yet a suggestion. It is possible at this stage to draw a straight line with the pen tool then use some filter or options to create a Zig Zag from it ? Like one would do to make waves or to illustrate waters flowing/moving. i know it was possible with Ai but not yet tried to create it with Affinity Designer (Beta or Retail), so i ask. if it is not implemented (such a filter or a straight function to make zik zag of vector lines and smooth them or sharp them) then i would ask it (for both Windows and MacOS) because it is helpful and time saving and very useful for logos design. Blessings !
  4. Hello Support ! We got surprised by the step taken by Serif Affinity team on bringing new functionality into ADesigner that made the software even usable and one of it was symbols. That time you made the move, other software specialized on Web Design (Vector Design) where playing on other ground and suddenly adopted the symbol thing and i see few have quite improved it. Personally i was waiting for ADesigner to offer new stuffs like wire stuff that allow to connect artboards etc... in fact, now that Muse and other Website design software are dead, we all tends to rely on what we have and i see a lot of people switching to XD and they do evangelize a lot about it. So i ask again, have you dropped the web design land ? Are we going to see more stuffs that will make ADesigner the tool we would use for website design ? Is the publisher what you are now preparing to do that job ?
  5. Hello Everyone ! Hello Team ! i'm maybe wrong asking this, if so, please forgive. Publisher is the master piece in my workflow and it does quite good vector operations but i've noticed i can't expand strokes. Okay, i maybe wrong here or asking too much but very soon the software will go public and there are peoples out there who will buy Publisher only expecting to do few with it and expand strokes is not something of too much luxury to add in there. As i said, i maybe wrong but Serif team should teach me on this if i'm wrong, but if it is something another user have noticed and would like to see, i would be glad know that person would use it. Blessings !
  6. Affinity Team and Community, All of the Affinity Design files that I've saved (not the exported files, the actual files that I can reopen in Affinity Design) can no longer be opened. Instead of having the Affinity logo next to them, it now shows a white piece of paper.. I'm wondering if this is because a day or two before I moved all of the Affinity files. The files that come with the software download were scattered in my Download folder and I wanted them all in one place, so I made an Affinity folder. Inside of that I had one for the Design files that I created, and a separate one for everything else. Now I can't open the Design files and I'm not sure how to fix it. Should I uninstall Affinity Design and reinstall it? I hope I explained this in a way that makes sense. I'd appreciate any insight or possible ways to fix it. Thank you Corinne
  7. Hello, I suppose this feature is available, but don´t see how to get it. How can we set an existing swatch color to be global color and use as spot color? I already know how to add a global color, but what about changing an existing color? Thanks
  8. How is possible to do a "Paste Inside" where are selected more than one shape? So having the same copied and paste item show inside different shape.

  10. Hi everyone! I'm a calligrapher, and I've just opened my calligraphy business - clearly the first thing to do.... create my logo! I did the calligraphy with a Wacom tablet and then edited the lines a bit etc to make it neater / thicker where needed. Simple but fun... and now onto the rest of the tutorial videos
  11. Happy new year guys! I am in the middle of creating my first font (handwritten) and use Affinity Designer for designing the digits. However, the process is very tenacious right now. Since I'm new to font development, this is my current approach and setup. I created a document with a growing number of artboards, one artboard for each possible digit, ligature, symbol, and so on. I created each digit using a stroke with slightly varying line widths at the beginning and end. The program into which the digits are imported works with PDF, SVG, EPS among other (to me unknown) file formats – that's okay, because I can output each digit with the export persona named accordingly. SVG is the recommended file format. But I do run into some problems: The exported digit-files MUST NOT be exported as a path with a stroke The exported digit-files MUST consist of a single shape. The exported digit-files (even if points 1. and 2. were taken into account) as SVG are created with a white box in the size of the artboard around them, which lead to another step of selecting and deleting something manually that actually wasn't created in the first place while designing the digit. (The document is set up with the check for Transparent background under the Colour dialogue) I would have guessed now I can select all contents of the different artboards via shift+click in the layers palette and convert them with a single click on "Expand Stroke" - but this is not possible, because the selection is automatically limited to the artboards and not to the children. SelectChildrenOverMultipleArtboards.mov Furthermore, I would have liked to use an action/macro to merge the multiple curves of single letters like A, B, E or F into a single curve - but unfortunately the macro palette only exists in Affinity Photo, if I see it correctly. Does anyone have an idea how to convert the files without all the unnecessary additional effort/tasks? Cheers and have a nice day MrDoodlezz
  12. Hi, i like the design of the Affinity Designer very much. But there is one little thing that could be better. I don´t know why, but for me the thumbnail design in the layers section looks a bit old. Maybe this is because of the background in this box. If you compare this for example to the layers section of Pixelmator, this looks much more new and fresh to me. The same goes for this "gear" thumbnails from the styles section ... pictures down below. So maybe you could do a redesign of such thumbnails in a future update. I would love it! Greetings Josef

  15. Hi - I've been a print designer for a long time and still do the occasional print piece.. I understand that Affinity/Serif don't plan to create an Acrobat competitor however the thought occurred to me that perhaps a prepress module could be incorporated to Publisher either as a persona or menu option? The only reason I still sub adobe is for Acrobat so that I can proof my print files. I also understand that there are prepress alternatives out there but they are industrial strength and are cost prohibitive! Would love to hear your thoughts.. Cheers
  16. Hey guys, so i want to make a wallpaper for my friend and i need help setting up the document size. I don't want to end up making such a big file that it can't be emailed to my friend. But at the same time i don't want to work on something that's too small and risk quality loss. For example if i open up a new document and make it 2560 x 1600 pixels (my friends display size) it just seems like it would be too big to email. maybe i'm wrong though. Is this the best size? Also should i select Web document? Any help is appreciated.

  19. Hey guys, i've been making some designs on affinity designer that i want to make into stickers some day. I've made about 4 or 5 of them but now i realize that i may have made em just a tad small. most are 7 in wide by 3 in tall. i think one or two may be 7.5 x 3 in. Anyways now im learning that these types of rectangular sticker designs would be best if they were 8 x 3 in. My question is what is the best way to resize em? would i need to start all over? should i just stretch em with a loss in quality? is there even a way to resize them without opening a new file in the correct sizing and then copying and pasting my old design onto it? -thanks in advance my fellow Affinity users.
  20. Hey guys. Im a new memeber here and new to these programs by Affinity. Anyways I've dabbled a bit in the past in illustrator and inDesign but pretty much forgot everything. So now im getting back into Graphic design simply as a hobby but this time around on Affinity. My question here is which affinity program should i use to create a Restaurant Menu? I was thinking of using Publisher. Is that the right tool to use? Any good tutorials for similar ideas made on publisher? Thanks in advance.

  22. I'm very new to the AD world and I could use a little help. I have created a business card design. How do I get that design to print like 8 on a sheet? So that if I were to send this design to a customer, it would be print ready? Right now it's just a single 3.5×2 design.
