  1. Hey everyone, the title explains the misbehaviour of the shortcut ⌘D in the Pixel Persona ( Designer, most likely also Publisher). Cheers Dennis
  2. Select/Deselect action should not be included in the document history. ( I'm not talking about the Marquee selection, it's about object selection.) Or give me the option to exclude them. Many graphic apps such as Adobe or Corel do not include them in the document history.
  3. Context: Suppose I have many small objects scattered and selected all over the canvas (selected objects belong to different hierarchical levels, e.g. grouped, nested groups and so on). Now when they are all selected, I know that 50% of the screen should not be selected. Goal: I need to de-select 50% of the screen easily, sort of like with a lasso tool just by going around area that I do not need. Currently, there's no such opportunity in AD. This is something I am in need of very often and my only option is selecting (or de-selecting) one-by-one. It would be really nice if Affinity team added support for such an operation.
  4. Hi, On Designer for iPad, the cmd+D shortcut does not work with vector items, however it works just fine on the desktop version. I tried to change The keyboard shortcut to something else, but the function just doesn’t seem to work. Also a trackpad tap outside the selection does not work either. Is it possible to make these basic functions work on the iPad version? I know an iPad is an iPad for a reason, but I do not necessarily want to touch the screen just to deselect something. The function works just fine in the pixel persona btw.
  5. Hi folks, is there any way to tell Affinity to NOT track a deselect, caused by a mouse click, as part of the protocol palette? Because for me, this is somewhat annoying. Coming from Adobe last year, I am used to go back in time, watch a previous state, maybe copy a certain element and then go forth to the latest state. Now with Affinity, as soon as I click somewhere on the canvas in the previous state (for example to get rid of a visually distracting selection), the protocol changes and I can’t go forth to my latest edit. Best, Johannes
  6. I am getting a bit annoyed when working in publisher. Say I edit a document and edit some text and then want to move a object I need to click on the arrow/V move tool. Trying to shortcut using "V" ends many times up with writing "V" or creating new text with "V" in it. Is there another better way to cancel / deselect?
  7. I'm finding shapes and the clumsily labelled "curves" features hard to use. Maybe Affinity is not allowed to implement Illustrator-like procedures, but the present arrangements are convoluted, confusing and to me, unreliable. Having discovered that shapes have to be converted to curves to edit them - then "break" them at a node (why?), I find I'm often unable to delete the node or part of the path I want to without losing more than I want or the whole object. Deselecting an object seems to automatically "select" another - can that be turned off? Zooming in/out with the Illustrator-like key combination doesn't seem to function if something is selected, which is inconvenient. I've found snapping works, but for me only randomly. As I'm migrating from Illustrator I'd love to see more illustrator-like processes if that is at all possible, and a quick look online suggests I'm not alone! I've not got far into Affinity yet so can't comment on much else at the present. And I recognise that some things will be different and I could be missing something obvious....
  8. When clicking blank area, selected layer will be deselected. This makes people confused. I know this behavior is inherited from Designer which is similar to Illustrator or DrawPlus. But would be nice if you could add an option not to deselect on clicking blank area. So former Photoashop/PhotoPlus users will be comfortable.
  9. As I'm learning Affinity Publisher I'm getting accustomed to one of two ways to deselect an object: press Control+D, or press the Esc key twice. I can also click with a tool outside, say, a selected text frame—but I prefer to use the keyboard when I can. I've run into a situation where neither method works. Start with: facing master pages that will be the masters for a book. Each contains a text frame. On the document pages created from the master pages: Once I've selected these boxes with the text-frame tool, I can no longer de-select a text frame by pressing Control+D or by pressing the Esc key twice. And in the Select menu, the "Deselect" menu item is inaccessible ("greyed out"). But if I draw another object onto the page—say, a text frame (that is, a frame that isn't derived from a master page), then pressing Control+D and pressing Esc twice both work, and Deselect is accessible again in the Select menu. Is that working as designed?
  10. I'm getting reproducible behavior with this sequence: Make a selection on pixel layer>Edit>Fill>Deselect When I deselect, the unselected part from the original selection also fills, making the whole layer a solid color. See screen captures for the before and after. You can even see the selection is active in the before image. I found that this also happens when I use the keyboard shortcut SHIFT+F5 but it doesn't happen if I fill using the fill tool (paintbucket). I've been experiencing this for a while now. I think I noticed it even before I installed Mojave on my late 2015 iMac, but definitely ever since I installed Mojave.
  11. When I try and invert my pixel selection on a document, it deselects everything instead. This is happening on lots of documents including the one in the video here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wm65gkiik5sjmop/Invert%20Pixel%20Selection.m4v?dl=0
  12. Hi everyone! How can I lock layer's selection so if i click outside of the layer, It wouldn't be deselected? It's useful mostly in moving layers and working with vectors.
  13. Is it possible to disable deselect as a history step? If I perform 5 actions, then undo 3 and click off an object by mistake, it erases my redo history.
  14. I'm trying to selectively brighten my photo, so I used the selection brush to do so. However, after I deselected one of the selections, my brightening edits continued to change that previously selected portion, but don't change any of my new selections. How do I stop it from editing previously selected material? Thanks!
  15. Hi, is there a possibility to deselect single points (I am sure this ist not the correct term) in the curves (in Affinity Photo) without resetting the whole thing? I am new to the forum. Sorry if it was discussed somewhere else already, I couldn't find anything... Greetings and thanks in advance.
  16. Hey guys, second time asking about this. Keyshort input isn't working to setup "deselect" in Designer draw mode. I am attempting to setup a command-shift-a keyshort to deselect in draw mode designer. I am able to input the keyshort but it doesn't work. In fact the command-d keyshort default doesn't work either (only in pixel mode even though it is shown in the draw mode keyshort prefs window). Only the escape key seems to work to deselect and I'd prefer to stay with my 25 plus year muscle memory keyshort. Is this a bug or designed behaviour and if designed I'm wondering why have the ability to assign a keyshort and have it not work?
