See RBhBwyuhb6K3E2Y1AnDVaIsa9z4hkk The issue I have is that this takes over the cropped elements of the file. Help appreciated! Will
  3. Hi, can I let the alpha channel of the fill color of 2 paths (each on an own layer) be operated with by a selected mask operation such as subtract? How? Thanks, u&i
  4. Hi Guys, I want to design a T-Shirt print. It should be a big blob or splash and the outlines of our Logo should be left clear inside the blob. I tried to create a mask with the shape of the logo outlines, but all It does is that the outlines get the colours and the texture of the splash. But ich want the splash with the Logo cut out in the middle of it. Has anybody an idea? Kind regards Florian
  5. I usually do still life photography but decided to play around with portraits and had a subject in front of a green screen, removed the background and I was looking for a good background to use and although there is plenty I've come across a problem of creating realistic depth so the person doesn't actually look like it's on a pasted background. Any tips on getting this looking more real or is it case of trying loads of backgrounds to see what fits?
  6. Is this possible? I just want to cut the moon out of an image and place it on a background image. Easy to do with the pen tool, but my circles aren't great, so I wanted to do it with the ellipse tool. So far I’ve been on this for well over a hour, getting nowhere. I can create a mask in the Selections persona with the Elliptical tool, but that’s not what I wanted to use. Very new to all this. Can’t find any tutorials on line for what be one of the simplest of tasks.
  7. Hi, does anyone know if I can use old photoshop filters like drybrush, watercolor, poster edges, cutout... in AP. I pointed it at my CS, CS2, CS4 photoshop plugin folders, but nothing loaded and even if it loaded will these artistic filters work in AP. I need them. I got Krita, but it does not have what I need and the GMIC stuff I guess will not work on Mac OS. HELP.
  8. I want to cut a specific detail of a photo, enlarge it and paste back onto the photo, I'm using Photplus x8.
  9. Hello, The new Publisher is really impressive. Due to new coding I've rebuilt my base template of a 6 page circular with great ease, but I noticed one feature I use every month is missing. In my monthly circulars I create with PP9 requires the process of removing the backgrounds of maybe 75 to 100 images per circular (a very easy process with PP9). Then some of these items can be used again in later issues, but any new products need this feature. Due to new coding is the plan for removing Image Background going to be done in Photo or implemented in to Publisher? Image editing isn't a problem, but over the last 4 years my product Image data base is about 2,650 images. Thanks, -Kevin
  11. I had the idea for this rolling around in the back of my head for a while so I thought I'd give it a try and see what came from it. I've now got it to the point where I'm not very happy with it. I've added some shadows where some of the pieces of paper aren't fully stuck down - with a related curve - but it still doesn't quite look real enough to me. There's something missing but I don't know what. I tried to add highlights to the "curls" but they didn't look right. Each letter is an individual shape with enclosed image and text layers, and the shadows are themselves individual layers, so it's all totally adjustable. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvements? It's just a silly thing that I've made for my own amusement but I would like to get it looking better. Any ideas anyone? Feel free to get petty.
  12. When purchasing Affinity, customer service told me that the cutout studio was much improved in Affinity. After a lot of searching ... I am not finding it. That is a much used feature in Photoplus and frankly it is better than most of the competition. Thanks
  13. Summary: Would really love to see a cutout filter for affinity, just like the one in photoshop. See image below. Usage: Quite frequently I am asked to take a photographic image and blend it into a more graphic image, one that has a very limited color palette where shades of color are defined by 2d shapes. Using the cutout filter, I can take that photo and give it that more graphic look, and then paint on top of the result to get the final image way faster than painting the entire image in a 2D graphic style from scratch. Thanks. - Neil
  14. The term I am using - cutout - has nothing to do with masking or removing an image. Instead I refer to the Photoshop filter factory effect. I use tis effect to simplify colors and shading to create a cartoon like image. It varies on numbers of levels to effect, edge simplicity and edge fidelity. I use this filter to create posters, flyers and more for clients. I am liking the windows beta of Affinity Photo and am seriously thinking of giving up my Photoshop CS6 for it. The workflow is a tad different, but this is one capability I can't find. I don't want to pay the exhorbitant cost of Adobe's CC subscription, but the $50 cost for Photo is sooooooooo enticing. The program is already ahead of my CS6 so I would love to move to it once it goes on sale. Some of us graphic designers don't just do photography. ps - if this is something more easily done in Affinity Designer, please let me know and point me at any tutorials. Thanks tons
  15. Hi all, I saw on another post that 'Artistic' filters such as Cutout are on the roadmap but does anybody know a workaround to get something approaching the 'Cutout' filter result using the current tools? As below:
  16. I am trying to make a neat cut out of this circular painting. The painting is not quite a perfect circle. Is there a way to tweak an elliptical marquee selection and put the painting onto a white or transparent layer? Thank you, Matthew
  17. I wonder if anyone can assist. I am cutting out some head and shoulder portraits in order to change background colour. I use the selection brush and then refine and export as a mask. Immediately before I export the cut out looks perfect, very neat. After export however I get a slight halo around the edge of the cut out. How can I prevent this? Unless I'm mistaken I haven't had this issue with previous versions of Affinity photo. I attach a couple of before and after screen shots showing the halo after export. Thank you, Matthew
  18. Hi! Just a basic question. Could I use the Pen tool to make a silhouette for clipping an image, and export the image with the cutout of the silhouette to EPS or native format to place in on another application to be able to change the background every time I want? An example could be a frog with the moon as a background.
  19. I want to convert to mac and need a program such as yours. At present I use PS10. I need a filter simular or equal to the one in PS ie: Filter---> Artistic ----> Cutout This filter makes a photo look as if one has cutout pieces of paper to make a photo using a reduced pallat of color. Is this achieavable in Affinity photo ---- Regards, drawde simular to attached jpeg.
  20. Hi I have just purchased Affinity Photo, having been a Photoshop customer for years (but not an expert!) I am very excited to read that a product has been specifically designed for Mac use and look forward to using it for many years to come! One thing I used to be able to do relatively simply was to do simple product cutouts for website (and other) use, but I cannot work out how to do it in Affinity. Could someone help please? Cheers Bill
  21. Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out how to take the text that I have on my image, and instead, cut those words out from the image to expose the background. I'm making a logo with a transparent background, and I want the text to expose the color of whatever the backdrop is at the time. I'm new to this, and so I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Thanks!
