  1. When I expand my stroke some of points are duplicated. It usually happens on endings... If I move a dot we can find duplicate with same coordinates. Adobe Illustrator has same issue and that is the main reason why font designers avoid using it. It looks as you have same algorithm. I would recommend to pay a lot attention to this. I do love your app especially for pressure window It allows me to imitate calligraphy But now I need to clean path manually which is time consuming.
  2. Hello, I'm a new user of affinity designer. I found how to follow a curve with a text, but I want to put texts inside a "head"and following the shape. My problem is that the text is inverted, I don't keep the curve and the text is outside the "head". Can someone help me please? test.afdesign
  3. Hello, New users of your software suite (Publisher + Designer), we allow you to make a return after having tested and used. On Designer, two features seem to miss our needs: - the creation of graphs (curves, diagrams); - the selection of objects with identical outlines and / or backgrounds. Eventually, we plan to substitute your software for Illustrator. The absence of the two features above forces us to still use Adobe Illustrator very regularly. Is it planned to add these features in a future version of your software? Thanking you in advance for your answer, Best regards.
  4. It's great to have such useful converts as AD's "convert to curve, text frame and path,' but a convert from curve to ellipsis would be a great help for those of us bringing Illustrator work into AD. I have maps with hundreds of city dots that I must manually change to vector ellipses to reduce their weight within an app. Any chance of a "Convert curve to ellipsis" coming in the future? I realize it would take some complex programming but hopefully it could be done.
  5. In Affinity Designer, how do you convert a vector brush stroke to a curve. Yes, the stroke itself is a curve, but with the brush applied it has texture (width, scratches, drop-outs, etc.) in the stroke. I'd like to take the "rendered" vector stroke and convert it to an outline curve (kind of like converting a text letter to a curve). How is this done?
  6. Delete and backspace do not work when editing text on a curve. You have to drag select the area you want to edit and delete it or replace it with the correction.
  7. I was working on a very simple design with the pen tool. I got to the point where I needed to expand the strokes of those paths, and I ended up getting a very unexpected result. Even though they are very simple shapes, the curves got distorted after being expanded. I tested this with Designer 1.6.5.135 as well as the latest beta release. I've attached a couple of PNGs illustrating the issue and the file I was working on so you can take a better look at it. expand strokes.afdesign
  8. Hi ... first of all --- i love using AD! But now i am stucked :( i want to use a contour - which shall look like a stitched seam - and substrate it from the main curve - which is a heart. So the background will "go through" - for example, if I want to use a transparent png Are the any hint to substrate contours from curves ? Cause if i use the normal way it looks like this ... i didn`t found any option to convert the contour/curve into a normal curve. Like i do with the "W" and cut it “of“ ... #thx
  9. How can I turn my curve into a selection so that I can continue working with it? Or is this function not yet available?
  10. Hi, I've just noticed something with text on a curve that I hadn't notice before. I have some text going around two circles for top and bottom text - I created the original file early on in the first Windows beta a couple of years ago. The text in 1.7 doesn't follow the curve, most noticeable with the H, M and N in the top text whereas with the the original beta the text flows virtually perfectly. The top image is the early AD and the bottom is in 1.7. I've also attached the 1.7 file which is a straight copy and paste of the text objects with an extra circle. misaligned text on a curve.afdesign
  11. Hi, The thing I mis, is a function that turns a selection into a curve/path.
  12. I know how to attach text to a curve in designer, but can't find the option in photo. Does it exist? If so, where is the feature / button TIA, Jeff
  13. I can add stroke just fine. I suppose I should build a scenario. I make a text, I convert this text to curves then add a stroke to make the text appear more bold and appear the way I want it to, but then when I export the file (to .svg format) and send that file over to another software for another use, the text (already converted to curves and with stroke) appears without any stroke. I've checked on the .svg file when exported and it's fine, but when the other software reads the file it only reads the curves not the stroke. I understand you can't change the way another software reads an .svg file. My question is if there is any way for me to add the stroke as part of the actual curve itself on Affinity. I've gone around this by tracing the entire stroke around the text (converted to curves) itself on other projects, but its very time consuming. This process more than triples my the time I have to work on each project with this problem. So any help is appreciated, thank you
  14. With the Pen tool, go ahead and create a 5-sided star (see star_empty_center.png). You see the pentagon in the center being empty. What I want is for the center to be filled (see star_filled_center.png). => My current "workaround": duplicate the (star) shape select both shapes and apply boolean "Divide" to segregate the 5 triangles with Node Tool: for each triangle, break and remove the line that belongs to the pentagon select all triangles and apply "Join curves" It's cumbersome, but it works. My question: is there any simple way / an option to tell AD (before or after drawing the curve) to fill any overlapping areas to make it look solid ?
  15. Hello, Last year, I've changed my camera and bought a Fuji X-T20. During this time, I spent a lot of time trying to remove a magenta color cast in the blue of my skies. I thought it was me or the way I used the camera. But using others raw converters (On1 Photo RAW, Luminar, Capture One Express Fuji) , I found that it comes from Affinity. Finally, it can easily be corrected when turning off the tone curve in the develop Wizard, and shiffting a bit the red curve in the develop personna. Do you know if we can define a specific tone curve that can be set as default in the develop the wizard ? Also, do you know if Serif planned to improve their Fuji X-Trans conversion algorithm ? Best Regards
  16. I am trying to warp or manually curve a type design. I am baffled that a vector design program doesn't have this feature...it's a critical tool for any vector design. Type on path is NOT what I want because that tool does not address the bending perspective that warp creates. (see homemade type solution) any suggestions or advice?
  17. what i'm thinking is another slider on the stroke modal window that controls how much the stroke is offset. on closed curves it would read outwards on one side and inwards on the other, or something like that, and i'm not sure for open curves, but it would be leftwards along the normal vector when moved to the left and rightwards when moved to the right.
  18. Hi, I find myself wanting to connect two different open curves to merge them, but so far can't find a way to do this. Basically what I'm looking for is some tool like the binary add-operator for closed path, but then for combining all anchor points of curve A to the anchor points of curve B. Or something like 'close curve' but then with two different curves. Does anybody here perhaps know if there is a way to do this in Affinity Designer?
  19. @MEB I did a search but couldn't find anything... is it possible to close a curve when drawing a curve with the pencil tool. In illustrator holding down the option key works. Anything in designer like that? Currently I'm drawing the curve, then I select the last node and snap it to the first node to close it. This is a step I don't want to have to do over the course of possibly hundreds of curves.
  20. Hi All! Thank you for having me on the forum. I'm curious if there is a way to make multiple strokes using one brush stroke, that can later be edited individually? For example, I am working on logo where I'm using 6 different colors as if they are all going in the same direction painted by a brush (Please see attached image). Is there any way to make all 6 colors using one brush? For this, I made each curve individually, adjusting each one as needed. Looking for a more efficient way to work in this style. Thanks! Karma
  21. Is there a way to put the text on a curve on the inside of the arc? I made a circle then converted to curves, then broke apart at both sides. I now have two arcs one on top and one on the bottom. I want the text to be on top of the top arc which is how it does it and all is fine. But on the bottom I want the text to be on the inside of the line. I can't seem to find a way to do that. I tried playing with the start triangle but ended up with the text backwards. Can someone explain how to do this please? Thanks Sig
  22. Hey everyone! I am working a lot on patterns (literally hundreds) that I want to repeat on both x and y later on. For doing so, it would be very useful to be able to offset and repeat (wrap) curves and groups using Affine and being able to access Affine in Designer. Right now, it only seems accessible in Photo and trying to Affine curves or groups will rasterize them. Best wishes, Shu
  23. I am trying to add a shortcut for joining two curves in Designer as I use it frequently. But I am not able to find the the option for it. Could anyone help? Also is there any tool in Designer for selecting curves by attributes such as color, line weight etc? Thanks in advance.
  24. hi there, how to get the exact length of a curve or the circumference of a circle in affinity designer?
