  1. I'm a Cricut/SVG beginner totally confused and lost by some apparent SVG exporting glitches. Main issues: a) Sizing. As you can see in the image, my canvas is 5in but it shows up as 1.389" in the program. b)weird black rectangle. I have a transparent background so I have no idea where it's coming from. c) just one of the stripes randomly disappearing?? so weird :( Already Tried: b) Changing dpi, viewbox etc. Shutting down the program
  2. Hi. Until the update 1.9 I was able to export SVGs from Affinity Designer to Cricut Design Space at actual size - meaning if I design something that is 30x30cm, it opens in CDS at the same size. DPI needed to be set to 72 to achieve this. Since 1.9, the resulting SVG now opens in CDS a lot larger than the size it was created at. Fine for me, but not for my customers who buy the SVG. The 1.9.1 release does not fix this. Any reason why this is now happening, and is there a work around? Thanks.
  3. Good afternoon, all! I am sure this has been asked before so if anyone has a link that I cannot seem to locate, I would appreciate it. I am attempting to make simple designs in Designer for export as an SVG to then upload to Cricut Design Space. I have attached a file with a simple example. I am wondering what the steps would be to do a couple things: 1. Have overlapping parts of the layers be negative space in what is behind it. An example would be the text in the attached file. If I am cutting vinyl and want everything to be on the same plane, I need the words cut out of what is behind it so the words can fit inside of it. 2. When uploading the file into Cricut Design Space, instead of the outline of the circle I have created (3 of them), Design Space fills in the circles with the associated color. I want just the outline of the shape and not the fill. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am using the file as an example of what I would try to do because I am assuming that whatever I do with any other sort of shape would lead to the same results. If I just want an outline of a given shape, why doesn't Cricut recognize it as it was drawn? Thanks for any help you can provide. even if it is a link or such pointing me to another resource. 4. Hello, I have received an error when trying to upload an svg into Cricut design space. Initially went to a Cricut forum, however I received little aid - seems to be a little too technical for the forum I chose. You guys have been great help with other issues so... I think I am missing something when I export my file from AD. I have attached the file, a pic of the error, & a pic of my export screen. (I have tried to export w/ flatten transforms & relative coordinates, with no luck) TIA. 3G1C.svg
  5. Hi, I am new to both AD & design space. I originally learned ink space before getting an iPad. AD has been a great purchase thus far. I am currently working on an svg which when I export into design space is not coming up properly. I’ve linked it below, but the triangles show up only as squished lines off to the side (not even close to triangles). The words and the heart however seem to import just fine... I am not sure if I am doing something wrong in the export process or what the difference is that the heart shape is fine but triangles are not?? TIA HeartBreak Hotel.svg
  6. Good morning to everyone. This is my first post and I have to start off by saying this message board has been a breathe of fresh air from the time I stumbled upon it from a google search. I am super excited to really explore the entire Affinity community and family of products. I am currently working with a design that my business partner made for me in Illustrator that I have opened in Design. The svg opens fine in Designer and scale and everything is perfect. The problem I am having is when trying to open the same svg file within Cricut Design Space. It is opening distorted, the wrong size, and even a few colors aren't picking up. From what I have read there seems to be a number of problems with this and I have yet to be able to figure it out. I have uploaded files if anyone is able to help I greatly appreciate it. I have found a work around to get my project complete but would love to know what settings to design in (business partner uses Illustrator and I use both Illustrator and Designer-hoping to drop Adobe and their subscriptions soon). Any help is appreciated. This is what the design looks like in Illustrator: This is what it looks like when I import it into Designer on my ipad: This is what it looks like on the upload screen in Cricut Design Space (the Pink heart is lost/distorted) This is what it looks like once in Cricut Design Space (not only is the pink heart gone/distorted) but now the layered colors (pink/teal) are both the same size smh. 1st Grade Tee Front 2.svg
  7. Hello all, I have been looking for answers for hours now and haven’t found what I need. I am trying to save and SVG file from my own writing so I can use it on Cricut design space. Below are the pictures of my process. Top left, what the writing looks like inside the Affinity app. I grouped the layers so it is one smooth stroke. I have tried using SVG for export, for web, for printing, flatten, jpeg compression on and off, set view box on and off, add line breaks on and off, text as curves on and off, no matter what, the file looks like the top right image, pretty normal. Then I go to design space... problem number one, the image saves with flat end points instead of rounded ones, bottom left image. At least, it is still the same thickness and smooth stroke image. When I uploaded to the canvas though, I get the bottom right image. A hair line stroke that’s broken up! What am I doing wrong?! I have gone through these forums and tried some of the tips for different SVG saving issues and nothing. I also tried uploading an SVG file that came from a website designed for Cricut files and those turn out fine. They look the same on the site as they do on the downloaded file, the saved box in design space and the final canvas project. This is why I am thinking my issue is how I’m saving it and not related to design space. Any help will be appreciated!
  8. Hey everyone. I’m using both Affinity Photo and Designer on iPad Pro 12. I’m also using a Cricut. Does anyone know what the exact SVG export settings are for Cricut Design software compatability? I’m having problems importing files. Getting either blank files or clipping errors. Thank you very much. Screenshot of your exact SVG export setting screen would be extra helpful.
  9. Hi, Please excuse what may seem like very basic questions but I am extremely unexperienced with graphic design. I've used GIMP for a few months and found it clunky and time consuming, so I recently purchased Affinity Photo and I am contemplating purchasing Affinity Designer depending on the answer to my question. I've watched several of the tutorials and have searched the help section and forums but have not found an answer to several of my questions. I own a Cricut cutting machine and I make t-shirts using heat transfer vinyl. I have figured out how to make pngs in affinity and import them into cricut design space. This is pretty easy. However, what I would like to know is if I can create svgs in affinity to import into Cricut design space? I can currently purchase svg files online and when I import them into Cricut design space, I only have to do 1 import and each layer/element that is in a different color is imported in one file. This makes it quick and efficient and then I can edit each layer/element independently in design space. Is there a way for me to make files like this with affinity photo and/or affinity design? Since I use vinyl, I need each color in design space as a separate layer. I have attached a screenshot as an example. I have created this simple text/shape graphic in photo. My designs are super simple, mostly text and shapes. I want to import it as an svg into Cricut design space so that when I open in Cricut design space, the arrow and text are different layers so that I can cut out the text in black and then the arrow in red vinyl. I know how to save each layer as a png, but then I have to import each layer separately. This isn't a big deal for something relatively simple, but if I'm using more than 2 or 3 colors, it gets tedious. Is there a way to do this? I have very basic knowledge and don't know much of the terminology, though I'm spending about an hour each day online learning. But I need a very basic explanation. Thanks, Lynnsey
