  1. I posted on this five days back and, to my surprise, have had no feedback from the folks at Affinity who are usually so wonderfully prompt to respond. In fact the only feedback was another user confirming the same problem. My original post was made concerning the previous beta however it is still unfailingly present in 1.6.5 and gets even more bizarre. If I create a selection with any selection tool and then perform a Copy/Paste (or Cut/paste) the pasted image is severely offset from the original Copy. In the attached images I have shown the original cat in magenta together with the selection. To make the paste clearer I have re-coloured it yellow. Now here's where it gets stranger. As long as the top part of the selection does not intersect the object being selected then the paste occurs correctly but as soon as the top of the selection intersects it offsets. This never occurs in 1.5.2. I still have this loaded and have done direct side by side comparisons. So I then tried copying and pasting between 1.5.2 and 1.6.5. It works fine in both directions. The problem only occurs when 1.6.5 is pasting to itself. This is seriously bizarre and seriously irritating as it affects Affinity Photo's usability to a very severe degree. Any thoughts please from the experts?
  2. I essentially want to enlarge only one object in a photo. In AP for the Mac I would select the object, copy and paste into a new layer. From there I could fully manipulate that one object (layer). In AP iPad, I had the selected object into its own layer but I don’t know how I did it. But when it was in its own layer I was unable to manipulate it. Please help. Thank you
  3. I am having a totally weird problem. I have never had it happen in 1.5.2 but it happens unfailingly in 1.6.4 (beta 4). If I create a selection with any selection tool on a pixel layer and then perform a Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste a new layer is created containing just the selection as one would expect. However it is NOT pasted in the same place as it came from. On a an A4 300dpi document, for example, the paste is made about 425 pixels 'north' of the origin. I have attached a demo image. I have reduced the opacity on the pasted layer to make the problem easier to see. Now what is puzzling me is that a problem of this magnitude on an operation so frequent and common should have generated a slew of posts here. But searching for them I haven't found any. This implies something particular to me. However all previous generations of Affinity for two years have always worked perfectly on my system. Nothing has changed in the meantime. I still have 1.5.2 installed and in simultaneous tests 1.5.2 works perfectly and 1.6.4 does not! So this begs the question am I doing something silly or missing something? Is there some setting somewhere that could be causing this? I am totally baffled at present. The big problem is that it makes 1.6.4 completely unusable. Any ideas anyone ........ please ....... ?
  4. Hi, I have an issue with saving a copy of a file from the iPad version to be edited on the Mac version of Affinity Photo. From the iPad version I use "Save A Copy" and then click save; it does not seem to matter if I select "Save history". I then save it to a location on my iCloud Drive. When I try to open it on my Mac I have the following error message, "Failed to open document, The file includes features from a later versions of Affinity. (See Attachment) Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try? My iPad is a: iPad Pro 10.5-inch 2017 OS - iOS 11 Running Affinity Photo version 1.6.4 My Mac is a: MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013 2.4GHz Intel Core i7 w/8GB Ram OS - 10.12.6 Running Affinity Photo version 1.5.2 Thank you!
  5. How do you copy objects, both text and image, without losing the original size? I tried to copy and paste content into a new document, but for some reason, it shrinks the original size, which will make my completion time longer. I want to simply copy and paste content, and it keep its attributes from size to format ,in-tact, in the new document.
  6. I am trying to copy text from another app (notes, email, pages, etc) into a frame text box in AP, but I am having quite a bit of difficulty. I cannot seem to copy text from any app to AP. Is this feature not supported or more likely am I doing it wrong? Thanks.
  7. Hi i was looking for improvements you could make from competition and i saw in Adobe XD that when you copy an element with ALT + Drag you can see the guides of distance from other element and is an entire number the position it takes no decimals. Just a recomendation i hope you consider.
  8. Affinity Photo is able to paste images from Procreate, but only until you copy something inside AP. After that, it seems AP takes full control of the clipboard and doesn't allow pasting anything from other apps. The only way around this is to close and restart Affinity Photo. Additionally any image with transparency pasted from Procreate comes into AP in the full size of the original document. Even if it's a small paint blob in the middle of a transparent canvas. A "trim layer" option would be useful to clean up any pasted layers with transparencies.
  9. Hey everyone, I'm quite new to Affinity Designer and have come across the following issue: I'm trying to fill different shapes with patterns. Since I haven't been able to find any preset geometric fill patterns that ship with Affinity, nor a pattern fill feature, I've resorted to: 1. Select the shape 2. Activate the Fill Tool 3. Change Fill Type to Bitmap 4. Use an image texture to fill the shape However, when I CTRL + C on one shape and then CTRL + SHIFT + V on another shape in order to copy that fill, with the same orientation and scale, it seems like the bitmap/texture then gets transformed to the orientation/size of the target shape. I attached a screenshot to demonstrate what happens when I copy the fill from the left shape to the right. How can I get the behaviour that I want, i.e. have the fill get transferred from shape A to shape B without changing the orientation/scale/shear of the fill texture? Also, is there a vector pattern fill in Affinity Designer that I may simply have overlooked? Thanks a lot
  10. Hi, i don´t know if there is a form but when i copy by pressing ALT and dragging element AD don't show the distance from one element to another, so i must just move it, and the click again and move to see the distance between elements and i think it should be automatic. By the other hand when you use restrictions in a group and you copy and element inside this group and paste it in other place, i think restriction for that element should reset unless you copy and paste all the group. Just a recommendation.
  11. Can someone tell me how to protect my elements like the one from the download section (e.g. Destroyer by Pokedstudio) please.
  12. Hello, I seem to be missing how to copy and paste fill and stroke for text exclusively. When I copy and paste style, to text, my text sizing and spacing changes also. I only want to copy the fill colour, and the stroke (colour, weight, mitre, draw behind fill) and paste that onto my art text. I do not want to also copy font, text size, character spacing, and other position and transformations. Is there a quick setting I am missing. thank you very much for you guidance. Mars
  13. Trying to copy an image on top of another image and move it around like I did in Photoshop with no success. Two separate images. Have tried paste inside and I do see the new layer but it does not show up. Help appreciated, I am looking in help file as well. Thanks
  14. I've searched the forum and online and haven't been able to find too much, or even a specific topic about these paste features. I use a lot of artboards and find that copying and pasting from one artboard to another to keep the same position of the copied contents on the different artboard would be the best. Equally, being able to paste the copied contents in front or behind a selected item/layer would be even better.
  15. Is there any way to paste an object into the exact same place (X & Y coord) from one artboard into another artboard in AD? Every time I try it seems to retain its Y coord, but not its X coord. Thanks for the help! :)
  16. In Photoshop it's easy to copy or move fx from one layer to another. I can't figure out how to accomplish that in Affinity Designer though. Try this: 1. New document in Affinity Designer. 2. Sketch 2 rectangles on the page. 3. Give 1 of them a drop shadow. You should then see the white "fx" mark at right on that layer. 4. Try moving that "fx" to your other rectangle layer. You can't. 5. Hold down the Option key and try copy the "fx" to your other layer. You can't. 6. Right-click on "fx" and see there is nothing directly applicable to "fx" If there is no feature to accomplish this important task, please consider this a feature request. Thanks.
  17. I have installed Affinity - I used Serif Photo before. I cannot seem to do a simple function such as: Using the Marque tools, selecting a selection of the image, selecting copy and paste into to the image/layer. Same for Cut command and pasting somewhere on the image. Am I missing something basic here? Using Windows version. Thanks
  18. Hi guys, I finally got into reediting in AP after a long time. I know the questions thatfollows have been answered before, and trust me I searched in the forum but to no avail. 1-So the first one would be, keyboard and mouse shortcut for increasing and decreasing brush size, as of right now no combination of strokes seems to work. And no, left and right bracket keys are no viable option nor do they work on an italian layout keyboard 2-the slice tool in export persona: I do post images on instagram after having them resized to 2048px on the long edge, so for pano I usually use the clise tool on PS and make say a 3 slice off of a pano that has been cropped to 3:1 and export them, so that I can upload them as multipe images to instagram and retain the pano. How do I do that in AP? it seems that the slices are only there for free and rectangular slices...any way to tell AP to slice my document in 3 equal part vertically and export them? 3-Copy one layer mask to another layer/adjustment layer, how do I do that? 4-when I have something selected and marching ant areon, how do I flood that selection with back or white? (on a layer mask) 5-I do like lthe stack option for files I already have on my HDD (I don't know what, but it's freaking stupid fast with 16bit tiffs), but let's say I have 4 layers in a document that I want to align, do I simply select 'Live Stack group' from the arrange toolbar? since it does not give me the option to align layers i am skeptic It'll actually align them PS. I am using English as a language even though I am using an italian layout keyboard. BTW, thanks AP team
  19. Duplicate or Copy change the empty space distance btw. the lines - WHY ? PLEASE HELP No matter how I copy the group or duplicate multiple circles - the distance between the lines changes in proportion ? Why ? I want to keep the distances, how to do that please ? My steps is : 1. Drawing 10 Circles w. distance (step) of 0,5 mm (r-10mm, r-9,5mm, r-9mm ......) GREEN COLOR 2. Group this all 3. Copy and Paste OR Duplicate this Group ! 4. go to Trasfomation and change Group2 to 5mm X 5mm RED COLOR 5. FxCK look at this ... ......the Distance between the Circles is NOT 0,5mm Step. IT IS SMALLER ! 6.
  20. AD fam, On many of the AD tutorials I see a click/drag operation used to select an item you want to isolate for copy/paste purposes. My question, is the click/drag done while holding down a keyboard key (i.e., the 'alt' or 'command' key)? When I click/drag over a given area that I'm trying to cut out, I see the light blue square/rectangle cover said area...but when I release my finger from the mouse it seems I'm unable to 'capture' (copy) the selection. I know I'm missing something simple - please have mercy on me. Thanks in advance. -Christo
  21. Hi, Sorry, I'm total newbie to vector art and AD. I was wondering what's the difference between Copy/Paste (cmd+C and cmd+V) and Duplicate (cmd+J) other than one less command? Thanks
  22. Hi there, I have been using Photoshop CS4 for some years but thought I would give Affinity Photo a try. I am stuck at what seems a very basic hurdle. I have a PSD 420 x 287 px. Within it I have several layers each an image of 400 x 267 px. The background is white and therefore gives a 10 pixel border. All I want to be able to do is merge visible, select all and copy and paste to another layered PSD, this however only ever copies the image and not the image plus background ... how do I copy and paste the whole area selected? Thank you
  23. Apologies for the newbie question here, I have the feeling I'm overlooking something very obvious but can't seem to figure it out. I've created a logo which consists of 6 layers. The layers have been grouped together. My question is a 2-parter: 1) how do I duplicate the group/image-as-a-whole...then separate (drag?) the dup from the original? and, 2) how can I then copy/paste the dup(s) to a new document or artboard? Thanks in advance for any help on this. christo
  24. Is there any way (in Designer or Photo) to copy the Layer Effects of one layer and apply them to another layer (so you can have precisely the same settings)? I used to do this in Photoshop by command-dragging the effect onto another layer (I think it was command ... some modifier anyway!). Many thanks :-) (Edit: I like the fact you can have the Layer Effects panel open and then select different layers and the panel updates to show that layer's settings. That helps a bit with entering the same values on another layer.)
  25. I wish to copy (or export) the style of an object as CSS. For example: Like you can do it in Photoshop ...or within Sketch ...or in Autodesk Graphic / iDraw.
