  1. I have problem copy only one channel like red from picture and paste or create new from clipboard! Always I got all channels! However, when I cut a channel, the content in the selected channel disappears. It means I have cut out the content, but all channels are sticking. it is similar when I create a new one from the clipboard. Can I just copy / cut a channel? Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
  2. Hi all! First of all, thanks in advance for reading and helping me out, if you can. I have been using Designer for a little bit more than a year now, but I never got to use Photo a lot. I recently came back from holidays and wanted to extract a person from a picture with Affinity Photo, and I'm having trouble with something that should be super easy, and I want to understand why is this happening and how to fix it. The problem is that after using the flood and wand selection tools, I have my desired outline selected, but when I copy and paste (cmd + c and cmd + v), the pasted image is like with a "weird opacity". I don't know how to solve or configure this, and I'm not too technical on image editing either (so apologies for the non-technical terms). I just want a simple selection and copying/pasting whatever is inside, in full, without opacity variation and without copying things outside the outline. I also used selection refining without any good results. It ended up removing selection I wanted, adding unwanted one, even while adding with the refine brush and removing with the modifier, it did whatever it wanted, so I went manually with the wand, varying sizes and snapping configurations. Here is an example for you to see what I'm talking about. The first one is the original image with the selection I want to copy and the second one is how it looks when I paste/mask it. If you see, the light/shadow areas are all wrong (like "low quality") and it even adds something outside the outline for whatever reason. Tried googling and searching with no solution Thanks all for your help!
  3. I'm trying to speed up my workflow, I know in other applications you can copy/paste/sync adjustment settings in RAW to another image, is this possible in Affinity please and if so how/where do I find the option. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi. I use photoscape along with affinity photo. PhotoScape has a unique option on the rightclick menu to edit or copy the exif metadata. For those who don't know what metadata is, the EXIF is imbedded into a RAW or JPEG or TIFF to record details relevant to the picture. For example, ISO Fstop focal length of lens exposure time are all recorded as well as photograph date drive mode etc. This is a really handy tool so I don't have to carry pencil and paper around with me when taking photos. I note this feature is also missing in Affinity photo. I can cut paste across applications but to have this feature in publisher would be very helpful.
  5. Designer crashes all the time when I copy-paste content from one document to an other document. I have 2 documents opened in Designer and want to copy content from one document to the other. This happens not only when I try to copy the content from a hole page, but also when I copy only a small tekstfield.
  6. just select one or all of the curves and ctrl-c... copy fail.afdesign
  7. Every single time I paste text from Gmail that contains line breaks combined with multiple types of formatting (Bold, italics, etc...) into a text box, Publisher will crash. This only happens when copying from Chrome, as pasting the same text from other sources seems stable. The current beta doesn't seem to like Gmail on Chrome much...
  8. I am trying to "left justify" some copy and it only goes to "justified left/ragged right", no matter what I try. I don't understand why it won't justify on both sides. The other options work, center justified, full justified, but the left justified option only goes to a regular left/ragged right. Is there a special way to create a text box? I just typed out the text and it seems to have created it's own text box. thanks.
  9. Is there a way to copy and paste edits to do a batch of RAW files? I want to apply the same edits across a few RAW files taken. I know there is a MACRO function and arent sure if this is what Im looking for.
  10. I am looking for a way to "link" an object(s) rather than copying and pasting, or "placing" in such a way that a change to the original object is reflected wherever it has been used. For example, see the screenshot (I am using artboards here, but just for this example). I would like to a change to the objects in the "logo" artboard to be reflected in the "letterhead" and "envelope" artboards, for example changing the text from "A Logo" to "My Logo". Is there some approach that would allow this? Doesn't have to be between artboards... logo could be a separate document, etc. Thanks... I love using Affinity Designer, and use it for all my vector based work now.
  11. As a long-type PhotoShop user, I am used to being able to copy layer effects (fx) from one layer to another. This could be done with a context menu selection. I have not found this capability in Affinity Photo. Does it exist? I found another user had posted an answer regarding another of your products, but I don't see that feature in Affinity Photo. Thanks for your input.
  12. hi experts..., when i want to copy & paste some objects in AD from one document across another document (also from one artboard to another in the same document), the size of the objects will be completly changed... is there an option for exact copying...?
  13. Please honor the standard Windows hotkey convention, and your Windows users, and incorporate the following: CTRL + F4 as Close Window SHIFT + DELETE as Cut CTRL + INSERT as Copy SHIFT + INSERT as Paste I understand users can configure hotkeys, though many Windows users expect some or all of these hotkey sequence to work as expected. Further most users will 'fight with'/'bend to' application defaults rather than configure such application behavior details. These refinements will improve application usability and user efficiency. I also understand CTRL + W is defined as close window (is this a Mac convention? I have not seen this behavior in other Windows applications.). Retaining CTRL + W, and adding CTRL + F4 or replacing CTRL + W with CTRL + F4 are equally welcome refinements. I have not tested for the possibility in Affinity Publisher to allow for user configured multiple hotkey sequences for the same function (e.g. CTRL + X and SHIFT + DELETE both as cut). It is common for Windows users to be familiar with and use both, or prefer one over the other. Please consider incorporating this behavior in the Windows versions of Affinity Designer and Photo. Thank you for considering.
  14. If you copy text then an image then text it crashes (just like Pageplus 9 does). When it crashes is there a way of pulling back the file so there is an option to give it the name of the original file (Word uses a temp file). I had to set autosave to 2 minute intervals so I didn't lose too much work but it is very annoying having to wait minutes on long documents for it to reload. Long table creation is a nightmare. There is no way of formatting it when you paste a long list of table entries (even in pure text + tab format). There is no select all in the edit menu and of course you can't create a table from selected text. Tables can't be split and I can't see a way of creating a heading on each page. Creating indexes take a long time as the tables are updated after each entry.
  15. Double-clicking an AFDESIGN document in Windows Explorer runs Publisher - see related issue here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/69657-affinity-logo-change/ When asked what to do with the document - Cancel, Continue or Copy - I opt to open a copy. The document opens and I opt to convert artboards into spreads, all seems fine. When I then try to close Publisher - without making any other changes - I get a dialog box as shown in the attached image. After waiting a few minutes I still get the same message when trying to close Publisher. Closing the document itself works fine but then when trying to close Publisher I still get the same message. The only way to quit Publisher after opening a copy of the document is by using the Task Manager.
  16. Issue / Task: Imagine you are creating a user interface or some other dynamic / modular design consisting of a variety of elements, sharing certain properties, such as color stroke width fx and many more Possible Applications: Creating dynamic, unified color palettes for multiple buttons, knobs, input fields etc. Changing global or semi-global stroke properties on the fly Re-using existing designs while applying new schemes for a new entry in the series swiftly Speeding up changes to large-scale projects in general Related Solutions: While Symbols allow for document-wide changes in properties within copies of the same object or shape, when working with a diverse range of shapes, groups and nestings can be tedious to impossible. Inheritances would speed up things considerably and add a whole range of possibilities. Implementation Suggestion: I would imagine the following workflow to be quite effective and straightforward, at least as far as my routine is concerned: Select and copy the source element Select the element to inherit a property Navigate to a window / tab with any property (such as color, stroke, fx etc.) Click the Inherit Button, a small, universal icon found in all studio tabs and windows. This property is now linked to the source element. Changing this specific property within the source element also affects this element. Click the Inherit Button again to unlink / disable the inheritance. Copying elements with an inheritance would preserve the inheritance for the copied element. I hope this makes reasonnable sense - of course I would be thrilled to find out something similar was already available in Affinity Designer. Cheers!
  17. Hi, everybody. the problem is I can't cut the pictures properly 6002BD2A-F31F-4DC5-AF38-EAA0967EFEB6.MP4
  18. Hi guys, When I copy text from Word for example, the font of my text field in Affinity changes to SymCat (it's a weird font, I have no idea why I have it installed ). Anyway, if I copy it first in Notepad, which doesn't support text formatting, and then I copy it to Affinity, everything is cool. But it's way too time consuming. Is there a way to stop Affinity from formatting text I paste in a text field? I only need the text content, I don't want the formatting from another program, doesn't make much sense Thank you, Chris
  19. Where are the icons for copy, paste and save please? I would like them on the top left of my screen instead of having to use CTRL C, CTRL V and CTRL S. These is a normal windows icons and whilst I love keyboard shortcuts sometimes it is faster to use icons when working with pictures using my mouse, Many thanks in advance, Marilyn
  20. Hey guys, Just downloaded the new Beta version, and I found this problem. When using Ctrl hold and draging a shape in order to duplicate it, the original shape will change its position as well by a few pixels. It happens very often, like 70% of all times. Is there a way to revert back to the previous beta version? It was pretty stable. Thanks, Chris
  21. I have an image where some parts need sharpening and some parts need denoising or smoothing. The obvious way to do this is to create a mask that divides the image into these two component parts. No problem, I create an edge mask as a new layer and refine it appropriately. I could now duplicate my original image and sharpen one version (using Nik Sharpener) and denoise the other using Nik DFine. The mask should now be able to ensure that what I see is partly sharpened and partly denoised. But I cannot see how I can place the mask I have created to perform this task. I Because sharpening and denoising are fairly subtle, I have been practicing on an an image and a desaturated version, and a layer comprising several vertical black-and-white stripes so that I should be able to see a fairly obvious mask effect. I have tried following various videos and on-line guides typically involving moving the stripy mask into a position on one of the layers, but what I see is always either the stripy mask or no effect at all. The image below shows what I see before trying to place the mask. Any advice gratefully received. John
  22. In this tutorial I will demonstrate the option Copy items as SVG in Affinity Designer 1.6.0. I use this function often to animate SVG with CSS keyframe animations and some JS in HTML. Just like this example which is a GIF (SVG is not allowed because of it's security issue). You can watch the original SVG file here. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  23. Today I learned that pasting elements between Designer documents with different resolution results on different object size. This is a normal behavior on bitmap software, like Photo or Photoshop, because they work with pure pixels and must adapt to the number of pixels the pasted image has upon the resolution, but is a complete hassle on vector apps like Designer, where the key is that you usually design on physical objet size, independently of resolution. This is specially hard when you are working with exact measures, like packaging or any technical illustration. I suggest three possible solutions A: Document or application setting to allow users to select their preference on copy pasting. B: Let the app auto select the pasting behavior based on the measure unit for the documents. (Preference to resolution if pixels unit, or preference to real size if a measure unit is selected) C: Special paste command for "paste preserving size" Hope I'm not the only one finding this important on his workflow. cheers!
  24. Hi guys, How do I copy a pixel selection? In Fireworks you simply draw a shape with the marquee tool, hit Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, and the pixel selection is copied. How can I do this in Affinity? The help file doesn't seem to explain this. Thanks
