  1. Hi everyone, I was wondering if Affinity Photo was capable of handling OCIO context variables? It's quite common in the film industry to define context-driven colorspace(s) in the OCIO configuration. Either by having a variable part in the search path, or directly in the name of a LUT/CDL file. Theses variables can be then set to different values at runtime and force updating the resources loaded by OCIO processor(s). An example of this being implemented at the user-level is Nuke OCIODisplay and OCIOColorspace nodes that expose a "Context tab" where you can define key-values where the key is the name of variable and value the literal value (e.g. SHOT sc010_0010). This is a quite essential feature for TV shows, feature film etc... I'm happy to elaborate more if needed be. Best, Nicolas.
  2. When customising the shortcuts for Affinity Photo (right) compared to Affinity Designer (left), I noticed many shortcuts were already taken by other functions, meaning that I could not mirror the shortcuts from Affinity Designer. After some testing I can confirm that Ctrl+Alt+L and Ctrl+Alt+R (also assigned to refine edges) work with the text frame selected, whereas Ctrl+Alt+C does not (Resize canvas). So to me it is unclear which commands may and which commands may not execute due to them being overruled by other commands. Would it be possible to introduce context sensitve hotkeys to the apps, meaning that, if I have a text frame selected or when I am working with text, keyboard shortcuts within this context overrule other shortcuts. Instead of being prompted with Resize Canvas, I would be able to align my text to the centre, something that is more in-line with the current selection/ working context. The other way around, if I am not working with text, the same shortcut would execute the resize canvas command. This helps for creating both efficient (double key usage) and memorable shortcut schemes. Current behaviour when editing text or with the text frame selected (using the Move tool): Context sensitive hotkeys.mp4
  3. Hi folks! Fantastic new updates that the team surprised us with! Preflight in Publisher, the Resource Collect feature and Embedded Documents – aka Smart Objects and thus the possibility to finally make use most stationary mock-ups – in Photo are my overall favourites! Buuut … I've got a question or rather a pretty annoying bug since day one I've been using Publisher (which literally is the case since the release): When I right-click on a layer in the Layers panel, the contextual drop-down menu appears in the upper left corner of my screen instead of directly at the Layers Panel and I have to move the mouse pointer there from the bottom right – somewhat inconvenient when working with master pages and want to make separate changes on different pages. Strangely enough, if I don't or just barely move my mouse and right-click a second time, the menu opens right under the mouse pointer. Has anyone else had this experience? Any idea what could cause this? 🤔 Q: Does this occur only when right clicking the Layers or whenever you use the right click? A: Just the layers panel. Q: If you reposition the main window does this effect the right click position? A: No change in behaviour. I already considered the right-aligned taskbar as the reason for the perhaps different coordinates for the context menu or whatever, but it makes no difference. Here's a short demonstration: Right-Click_Layers_Panel.mp4 Cheers and have a great Sunday MrDoodlezz
  4. This is just a small thing, but it irritates the hell out of me When I select a shape for example and go to the fill options there's no bitmap fill option only solid or gradient fill options, so if I want bitmap fill, I then have to go to the tools select the fill tool or use the shortcut key and then go back to the context toolbar fill options. Why is it done like that, is there a reason - it just seems counter-intuitive even though its just the smallest of things...
  5. Hey everyone! It would be useful to be able to hide the menu on the lower part of the screen (especially in full screen mode). I know it hides when I move there, but most of the time I don't know if I need to move there since it's blocking the view. Best wishes, Shu
  6. Hi folks, I’m new to AF for iPad having used AF desktop for a while now. I'm having some issues with certain adjustments. I wanted to make a curves adjustment on an image today but when I went to the adjustments menu and selected curves it didn’t give me any further options. There is no context menu or anything ?! Cheers Mark
  7. I'll be the first to admit, I am NOT an accomplished photo artist. In fact, I would put myself at a "3" or "4" on a 1 - to - 10 ability scale. Therefore, I am always looking for more and more lessons to increase my skills and enhance my talents. In doing so, I hope to gain the most from the Affinity tutorials, given I'm a registered user of all three apps. And therein lies the frustration. In short, when I attempt to watch the Affinity tutorials, the presenter starts by introducing the subject, and then proceeds to open an image, and in doing so, nearly always opens up a series of layers he has already created. Unfortunately, he has also renamed them, so those of us who are learning, have no (grrrrrr) clue of how or why he created them. Therefore, HOW ARE WE EXPECTED TO KNOW WHAT, OR HOW HE IS PROCEEDING? It's obvious he is 'assuming' we all can successfully guess what the hell he has done, why, and with which tools. (Beyond frustrating; more importantly, it is a terrible representation of Affinity.) Specifically, these tutorials are high on the 'frustration menu': Blend Modes (https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/desktop/video/310319088/). He calls them 'render passes'. No definition of 'render passes', (I can interpret such a term in a number of ways given it's out of context. I spent the better part of any hour searching for 'render passes' without luck.) Layers (https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/desktop/video/311178905/). Even in this video covering basic layering, he begins with a highly populated list of layers. HE KNOWS WHAT THOSE LAYERS ARE, WE DO NOT! How can we get a strong, integrated understanding (i.e. without obvious questions popping up such as, "What are those layers, why did he chose them, and how did he create them?") It would only take a few minutes to explain them and build the lesson from the beginning instead of beginning the tutorial at some arbitrary point along a learning curve. At the least, reference those tutorials which provide the lessons for creating the components he is utilizing. The list of other similar examples is long. The solution is to include the steps he has left out prior to his video starting point. PLEASE, make videos for the audience, not the perspective of the presenter. If you are going to start with pre-created elements in support of a subject, take the time to explain them. You know what they are, but if you expect us to get value from the tutorial, you have to explain yourself so we are on the same page as you. Thank You.
  8. It would be really useful if the Transparency Tool would allow user selection of Fill or Stroke Context in the option toolbar, like the Gradient tool allows...
