  1. Hello , i am trying to add my Parents into nature , but the colors doesnt look good at all, i dunno what to do really, i tried all sorts of hue and sat tutorials but it still look very odd and not realistic , Thank you very much for any words. 2. Hi, The linked resources are a great feature in Affinity, but there is any way how I can use that linked resource as a mask for another layer/group? Or link that B&W image in my file (somewhere), and then link(as layer linking) its luminosity to another layer - as a mask or something? I am just trying to move my render composition workflow to Affinity, and linked resources are great, but I have rendered alpha masks and z-depth channels. And would be nice to have them linked and working. Thanks in advance of any suggestion, cheers!
  3. Howdy creatives ! I just uploaded a new photo manipulation tutorial. This time we're gonna handplant a skyscraper (the EASY way). It's a really easy photo manipulation tutorial, read description if you want to follow along. Have fun and a great weekend ! https://youtu.be/N-i-WmixD0g
  4. Hey creative people ! A bit over a week ago I uploaded my first beginner tutorial on how to create a composition in AP. (I will post my second tutorial in a separate Topic) Since the goal for my YT channel is to help everybody struggling with photo compositing/manipulation, it would be awesome if you could answer this one question: What are your pain points regarding photo manipulation/compositing? Thanks in advance for sharing, so I know where to put my focus ! Alright, now enjoy the tutorial P.S. I bought a nice mic already so sound will be better in future tutorials. However, if you have any other tips/tricks on how I could improve my tutorials, feel free to let me know! Cheers and I hope you learn something new today ! Rens
  5. Hey creative people! I decided it was time to upload my third Affinity Photo Manipulation tutorial on Youtube. This time I'll show you exactly how I created this giant raccoon photo manipulation with just 2 images and some cloud paint brushes. Since it's Black Friday I decided to be super generous and gift my IAMRENSI Cloud Brush pack (10 brushes!) to you for completely FREE You can find the link in the description of the video and will be available FOR LIMITED TIME ONLY. (Available until 5 December — Not sure when and if I'll put them available ever again..!) I hope you enjoy the tutorial, and if you're into photo manipulation, make sure to grab the brush pack as long as it's still available! Your welcome!
  6. Hey y'all! Let me introduce myself. My name is Rens (Instagram @i.am.rensi). I've made the switch from PS to Affinity Photo since summer 2019 and I absolutely love it. I figured there's quite some of you asking how to create surreal imagery, so I decided to create tutorials about manipulation and photo compositing. You can find them on my YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/2qABVXW I will show you step by step how I created these two fun images. Let me know what you think of them and how I can improve my videos so I can serve you better! Stay creative! Rens van Daalen
  7. Aff. Publisher 1.7.2, MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) Not really bugs but annoying deficiencies in user interface : 1. I can find no way to keep all frame boundaries visible, making it impossible to butt one against another. (No snap on here.) 2. After detaching a master page (via ctrl-click menu), the 'Finish' button is obscured by the studio. 3. I like the listing of matches following Find but when you highlight one in that list, it really should be highly in the text also. In fact, the first instance ought to be highlit there anyway. 4. The rendering of a page still doesn't look anything like as clean as it does in InDesign, somehow. 5. I can find no way to directly kill an instance of hyphenation. 6. InDesign's 'Composer' does a better job of formatting a paragraph. Not sure exactly what it does, but it seems to juggle tracking as it lays out a paragraph, and perhaps hyphenation. I can only match it in Publisher by applying different tracking to individual sentences and words. I do NOT mean to be negative here, just helping with aspiration. Over all, I'm happy with the job Publisher does and am moving over to it (despite CS5.5 working acceptably well on High Sierra). I don't feel the need to catalogue the things it does better than InDesign. The recent MacFormat review said enough. Well done guys, but please keep at it (especially Footnotes and IDML import).
  8. I had to play around with my new update. Refine selection works fast and great!!! The stock photos are great too. Threw this together in 20 minutes or less. Pun intended!
  9. Hello Team, Want to know if the add of Luminosity mask (Live) is planned for AfPhoto ? actually in beta cycle. Yes Luminosity masks will make life even better and easier for a lot of people, i've learned to use it and it makes a lot of things possible. I know people have said it is possible to mimic it but i'm actually asking about a native one and if it is planned to be implemented. Blessings !
  10. Hello Team ! Hello Everyone ! Glad to make this suggestion for the good of Affinity and Designers or just Users who joined the move and those considering to join the move. My point is about not killing things that we already love but making them even better and i hope this won't become a troll. To my sight, the celebrissime Liquify Persona need to be reviewed and improved, boosted or upgraded (take it as you want). Actually, a persona is not just something we click at but it is an identity to a type of Designer/ Creative Person/People and it is time to make it reflect those of us who identify their style through that Persona. ___________________________________________ Having a Persona to only twirl, Freeze, push etc ... some couple of Pixel is good but ... there is more to it. I suggest the Liquify Persona to be upgraded and maybe renamed to fit with the real style it is supposed to reflect: Photo Manipulation or Photo Composition (here too call like you want). I suggest more tools to be put in there that will help make the Photo Composition/Manipulation happen from that precise place with dedicated tools and even it can be the opportunity to develop new tools that fit the Manipulation/Composition Style. i'm not asking for tool to be removed from the Pixel Persona, not at all but asking for the Pixel/Photo Persona to be less loaded from its first approach for sure a user could decide to customize his toolbox like we currently are allowed to do but if that user is a Photo Manipulator/Compositor then he should load everything he want (photos) using the Pixel/Photo Persona then switch to the dedicated Manipulation/Composition Persona and do his work from that place. The workflow could be like this: 1- Load an image (or many images) on the Pixel Persona then select the object we want to work with 2- click the Manipulation/Composition Persona then be presented with necessary tools for that precise job, from Selection brush, Flood Selection, to inPainting not forgetting all liquify tools but all those should now be in more advanced mode giving more flexibility and settings to fine tune the work. 3- Do the job and when done click on Apply to switch back to the Pixel/Photo Persona which is the central place and see the result. Then do the same again and again with all other layers who need to be transformed or manipulated 4- the upgrade should give the user the opportunity through a button (like the After/Before) to view full stack of layer in low opacity mode which can be increased or decreased (but the user should only be allowed to work on one layer at a time. 5- All Color Grading work can happen in the Develop Persona or in the Pixel/Photo Persona (here for those who need to control) 6- The Tone Mapping Persona wold be helpful for fine tuning the thing with rich presets, LUT or Manual stuffs. Well all this must be given the possibility to be non destructive, meaning i must be able to select a layer in my stack anytime, at any level of progress and switch back to the Manipulation Persona and redo this or fine tune more that etc... More focus in the Non Destructive aspect will actually increase the value of the software. I know the move you are taking with making Designer and Photo to be kind of sub or Persona for Publisher but still Photo should be improved on its own because Photo compositor/Manipulators won't buy Publisher just because it is not what they do but a more enriched Photo software ... Well Yes many would go for it no complex to what already exist. This topic is open to more adds that can help Devs to figure this out. Even if they don't implement it with 1.7 Beta cycle, it is something they may take serious and consider to fine tune and implement in coming version and we can help here. I'm only 1 Brain, yours are needed for more power, Step out of the Purist areas and come help build great with you original ideas. Hope i've posted in the right place and wish you all the best with improving Affinity. Blessings.
  11. Hello People Hello teams. I know you are busy with top notch stuff but it seems like you have forgotten to add the Close All into Affinity Publisher. Yet if I have more than one project file open I can't close them all at once but need to close one by one. This is good but can get anoying if I have 15 tab to close. I've noticed there is no Close All implemented into the recent beta of APhoto and ADesigner so... maybe it is time to correct it or to explain the philosophy behind such choice (if it one and if there is a philosophy) Note that projects are often more about compositions with objects copied from many sources and when finished (we often leave tabs open just in case) then comes the time to close the software in a non brutal way (the brutal way often leads to crash or bugs) So please implement that and tweak it more than what it should be. Blessings
  12. Hello friends, I leave this recent composition that I made for a client. It was made entirely in Affinity Designer 1.6.1. I used the Affinity Photo perfection brush to define pair of images. I love the freedom, power, speed, versatility and significant time saving of this wonderful software, I love it haha. I hope you can enjoy and let your imagination go, that the software can stand anything you can imagine. Long live Affinity.
  13. By default, Affinity seems to have the Rule of Thirds and the Golden Spiral - is there a way to add or turn on a Phi grid overlay?
  14. Hello, As part of an ongoing research to baseline grid composition, my colleague and I recently made Fitbaseline, a calculator that distributes the baseline grid over the document height. This is especially convenient when designing a document with fixed sizes (for example in print) in which you want to evenly distribute the baseline grid. Although we developed a version that applies the calculation automatically for Adobe InDesign, the online calculator is application agnostic so it can be used with Affinity too. However, it would be great to see this concept implemented in Affinity applications such as the upcoming Publisher. I'll make a feature request for this soon. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Bauke
  15. I would like to be able to use the Compositional Overlays when designing as well as when cropping. Additionally, is there a way to flip the Golden Spiral both horizontally and vertically?
  16. It's been a long, long time since I posted anything. I saw a program on the two eccentric artists on the box, so armed with two photographs that I've take on my Fuji bridge camera, I decided to give it a bash... The girl in question was my ex-stepdaughter; who strangely didn't like this shot of her by the beach. All comments welcome... SaveSave a little bit of G&G.afdesign
  17. I was watching an awesome tutorial yesterday and want to review it, but cannot for the life of me locate it. It's on Composition. It has a beautiful model with clouds and pink petals blowing around her. Who remembers that beauty? Thanks in advance. Michael
  18. HI I've been working at replicating photoshop workflow in affinity photo with great results..... The title says goodbye photoshop and I've never used photoshop but I've tried to do the same steps retouchers do in youtube for processing a photo, I never liked photoshop for its price and when I discovered affinity photo I got very excited because its great price and I wondered if I could do the same that people do in photoshop with this software. After one or two months, I think, yes I can do everything or almost....... Here one of my tests followed step by step..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QBPZ8rjQhE (Photoshop video that was being 'followed' in Affinity Photo) and the result:
  19. The past few months have been insane I haven't much time for personal work, but I am starting to see some light.... So many fun new features to test!
  20. 1st effort at photo comp. in Affinity Photo...not too big a learning curve ( having migrated from Photoshop)...I'm liking the software
  21. Ok, yes I am sure this is a massive stretch and a very unrealistic request but hey, if we don't ask, then who knows if it will ever happen right. So, sometimes, when I am putting together a project, I am looking at composition and design. I use software like Google Sketchup to get models to drop into Sketchup and arrange here and there to get my ideas. Then I have to snap an image of the layout and redrop it into illustrator, outline (trace) it and go from there. I can't tell you how often I was thinking it would be cool to just be able to open one program and in one window, create the 3D layout, then copy and paste it into another page where as the 3D layout turns into a nice 2D flat vector image to work with. Again, yes I know this is unrealistic and asking for a lot, but hey, does it hurt to ask. So, 3D Design capabilities like Google Sketchup with full compatibility with your wonderful vector software. That is my request. :D
