A post on Facebook prompted me to make this image. Tutorialmeister Carl Surry posted a link to this tutorial by Michael Wilson: Here's my effort: and the figure I started off in AP with a couple of stock images, the background by J C Gellidon from Unsplash and the figure by Radu Florin from Pexels. The 'portal' began as an ellipse; actually a circle which I deformed with the Perspective Tool to make it appear parallel to the shop fronts. The flare is a trapezium rotated onto its side. Some clipping, masking, gradients, transparency (in Designer) produced the lighting effect, and I added a pixel layer to paint a few highlights on the right-hand side. I saw this video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX_h98OW4-8&list=WL&index=14&t=754s It's about compositing video into an image and the tutorial is made for Photoshop. However, I wondered if it is possible to do the same on either WIN desktop or ipad pro 2017? I have been unable to place the downloaded mp4 file onto ipad and thought this may not be available in Affinity Photo?

In the spirit of the upcoming Top Gun Maverick movie. I had to find some royalty free stock images in AP 1.7 and make my own poster. Used royalty free images from AP 1.7 stock tab. AP brush pack to make afterburners and some wind break on the plane.

I'm still learning to use AP but so far with all the tutorials available it's been easy to learn most of the tools. I've added a whale fin, 2 dinosaurs, 2 signs and of course baby Groot layered on the actual image.Hopefully Affinity is ok with me using their logo to support their software. -
I am attempting to load .nef files into a stack then load them into the photo persona to edit each image individually as a layer. When i get them all loaded as layers, I cannot perform simple edits such as paint brush or erase. Even adding layer masks seems to do nothing. The only manipulation I can manage is the clone tool. I thought at first that it was because of having to develop the raw files but i have the same issue when loading images as .jpeg files in the stack. I've followed the steps layed out in your tutorial videos but they don't exactly conform to the technique i use for composite light painting images. Without diving too deep into my process, I stack the images then either paint or erase out my lighting as necessary. I'm a relatively new user coming, I must be missing something. The attached image is a flattened version of my raws. There's gold in there, I'm just trying to set it free, please help.

There was a time when I got stuck while doing this - I couldn't find how to create a particular effect without the need for using stock photos. Fortunately, someone in here was doing live streams on YouTube and was creating the exact same effect I was looking for with a smudge brush. So my humble thanks reach out to mattitFi who kindly told me how to do it.

"Hell hath no fury. . ." seems a nice girl. This got really complicated as it developed - different layers with different blend modes & opacities. The problem with doing something like this is: when you want or need to merge certain layers they never merge as you expect them to; the layers never keep their individual properties but default to the highest setting and then the effect you had is gone. Time to undo and stop playing with fire!

Apart from the backdrop (virtually gone) this image was created with photographs of water. With help from the liquify persona and blend modes I was able to realise this particular visual experiment.

Hey folks, here is another edit/composite using AP Result (work in progress): Source: At the moment, I am not quite happy about the masking of the palm leaves Refining the mask crashed Affinity Photo several times, so I tried my best with manual masking, but I am still not where I want to have it - maybe I will have to spend another hour to get it right... If you have some good hints about better masking, I would be happy Besides, what do you think about the edit? Cheers, Marc

Hey folks, back again with a small composite made of three photos from last year's trip to Bali and some burning sky stuff I shot during summer. Result: It could need some more finetuning for sure, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out. What do you think? Sources: Cheers, Marc

I'm having some troubles with the Define option under the wand tool... still having a photoshop --> photo learning curve. Anyways, this is my first Affinity Photo manipulation. Starting to get the hang of it. If anyone is willing to walk me through some advanced methods for defining masks, please let me know.

I often walk past this tree and always thought at the right time there was a photo there . Cloudy day worked well . The background was made from the top of the right hand side image What was going to be one of my quick edits but turned into a bit more ; again original files masked out with the Selection brush mostly >> top of tree was blurred several time while being rotated this way and that Copy/paste the tree images with layers onto the blurred background >some more masking >> lot of moving images around to get something that looks balanced Should have put it away for a day or so at least before sharing -- can be amazing what will be seen and notice with fresh eyes -- A mentor of mine; Peter Eastway said he and staff would often look at his main composition images for a month or two; or more before considering the photo to be as perfect as possible . That's why he is a master; or maybe it's grand master several times over of photography. If you fly QANTAS his photos are used in the magazines --- good job; being flown to all parts of the world to take photos and then getting paid a lot for them -- worth googling As always, honest comments (CC) and questions welcome Fz300 panasonic -- I'm currently rekindling my love affair with my little mate Pana :lol:

This is a composite done in Affinity Photo. The city is a 3D model rendered in Daz Studio. I photographed the elephant in the Gothenburg museum of natural history.

Yes, it's true. The only thing I can say for sure about this image is the fact that it took bloody ages and lots of experimentation.

Don't believe everything that Hollywood tells you. I have it from good authority that these two guys get on like a house on fire; the first chance they get, out comes the piano and before you know it - it's an all out rendition of "Nessun Dorma." And if you thought the Italian language was difficult to understand. . .just you wait till you hear this mother sing. Put that in your dreadlocks and smoke it!
