  1. Hi everyone! I have a little problem using color swatches in affinity (across all three programms). I defined some colors and safed those in named swatches. To use the colors across all affinity tool, and to use it in some other software. The strange thing is now, that in some dokuments the colors are differently interprated then in others - also if i use the same color settings for the dokments sometimes i get the correct result and sometimes a different... Can anybody told me why this happens?? What I am not seeing here?? I will attach two designer dokuments, with the same color settings...but different results! Thanks for your help! 2. So, I am learning vectoring, coloring, etc with Affinity Designer and I am reading some tutorials on different projects I want to try. One such tutorial has steps to blend 2 colors together then extract the shades from the blend to create a palette. The steps for Illustrator are listed in the attachment and I am wondering if Design has the same ability?
  3. Based on https://material.io/guidelines/style/color.htmlI created swatches for Affinity with all Material Design colors, properly named nad sorted. Enjoy Material.zip
  4. I created a small little tool to help me build more interesting color palettes, you can download it and try it yourself! I wanted something dynamic where hue, saturation and brightness graduated in ways I would never think of picking by hand. It uses difference blend modes, and in the smaller circular swatches it doubles up on itself - kinda inverting things a second time, giving you two palettes from each to choose. Super funky! 5. Change Affinity Photo brush colors on the fly. In this Affinity Photo tutorial I show in both iPad and desktop how to change your brush colors on the fly. It is number 33 of my Digitally Fearless Powerful Tools of Affinity. https://youtu.be/xh9oMoIxE_w
  6. Link to Metallic Gradients Share Here are some fancy metallic gradients I put together.
  7. Download the SVG version of the shapes on this web page and open in Affinity Designer. The colours are consistently different from the ones that appear on the web page.
  8. Hello Community, Since a photobook project I'm facing a strange colour problem, after export to PDF. For instance: 1. Open a profiled sRGB JPEG in APub 2. Export it as PDF (e.g. PDF for print as RGB with embedded sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile) 3. Now open the PDF in Acrobat Reader DC (latest version) and compare it with the original JPEG 4. The colours shown in Reader are slightly more saturated, especially the red tones are more saturated and shifted 5. But opening the same PDF in APub, the colours are absolutely the same as in the original JPEG 6. And finally, if opening the PDF in Firefox or even PagePlus X9 the colours are saturated and shifted like in Reader, but opened in Google Chrome the colours perfectly match the original like in APub. I'm pretty confused. Does anybody know what's going on here? Any help is appreciated, thanks! Btw I'm on Windows 10 20H2

  10. Hi There, how on earth do I pick colours from an existing gradient, without just using the eyedropper as close to the edges as possible and hoping i get the 'full' end stop colour, not just one of the in-between shades? Lets say I open a file provided by a client and an object has a gradient of blue to grey. I want to use the same blue and grey to create other objects. I can't use the eyedropper as I might not get the full blue or the full grey if I don't click right at the edge of an object fill. Is there an easy way to 'name all colours' or 'add all colors to swatches' that will know the gradient is basically just comprised of 2 solid colours?
  11. Hi, I design transit maps (either route map or track diagrams). When I place a double track and new double track panel, both doesn't match even I set it to total black in RGB pane. The "X" crossover is the correct black I wanted but the lines refused to make it blacker! I also have another track diagram, an 4 line tracks, this one REFUSES to make it black from light gray! (the black switch east of Oak Street is the correct color) What gives? Am I missing something or is it known bug(s)? Thanks!

  15. Hi there! I just made a quick test in Affinity Designer where i testet the "press ready" preset for pdf export. Previewing in different apps after exporting, the colors look all flat and greyish. Is it due to build-in softprooving of affinity pdf's or is there something wrong in my process? I put my example in the video below: export-test.mov
  16. Hey Getting are really weird output on PNG slices. Something is a miss with the slice module. Never used to get these issues, including and still unanswered naming of slices and artboards. When I ouput the file to PNG, it saves in a odd format. Hard to explain, see pics below. They are even wrong when posted to INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK. Any thoughts. I have now been outputting in JPG , no issues there. But something is miss in PNG. so the last image shows you how it is in DESIGNER, but how it shows when uploaded. Background is all dark, and top HD logo not show MULTIPLY layer style correctly. Gary

  18. Hello, I have the sony a6400 and for some reason affinity is displaying the colors way too dark. The Windows preview shows the image in the right colors and also of course the sony memories app. I attached a picture for it. I guess it has nothing to do with the camera settings since other apps can handle it. This problem is driving me crazy and i already resetted Affinity with the CRTL method. The upload is not taking png's and the error when uploading is -200 (Maybe change that?).. Not very helpful so i had to convert is to jpg for the upload.. Sry the interface is in german but i guess you know where it all is.
  19. I don't have a problem getting access to full range of colors when I upload image w color or create my own from scratch but when I try to add colors to a black and white tiff image it converts all my colors to gray scale. Even when I can get to the menu to give me the option of selecting a color once I select it as my fill option it instantly turns it to gray. Am I missing something? Please help.
  20. Hi! I love Affinity Designer, BUT this problem is a HUGE headache to me I set a color that looks great in the workspace (within Affinity Designer) to my text, objects, etc. I export it and ALL THE COLORS are extremely OVERSATURATED, a moderate yellow looks like a highlighter yellow, Please fix this issue and help me QUICK! The image on the right is the one after export opened in windows photos, left is affinity designer

  23. Hi All, I'm experiening an odd issue with both Affinity Photo and Designer whereby opening a screenshot (taken using the built in Mac screenshotting tools) seems to mix up the colors. For example, here is an original screenshot: here is a screenshot of opening the original in Preview: and here is a screenshot of opening the original in Affinity Photo: and here is a screenshot of opening the original in Affinity Designer: Not sure if this is a bug or I've just mis-configured something? (I think my settings are all just the defaults). I'm using Affinity Photo 1.3.5 and Affinity Designer 1.3.5 (but the issue has occurred in all versions i've had (from the app store). The issue does not occur on photos taken from digital cameras or other sources. Cheers, Chris
  24. I switched from GIMP to Affinity and I miss the possibility to use colors across images. I try to explain it with an example: For re-coloring the eyes I need the colors #009100 and #2996FE. This color I can also create and use via RGB Hex. They are also shown as last used colors. Now I open another image file and there the last used colors are empty. So I have to define the colors again using the hex values. At GIMP I have the last 12 colors globally available for all files. Is there a way how I can get something like this under Affinity?
