  1. This is of my composites I have been working on: This is the base image: This is the actresses on the left I chose to play the mother: As you can see, the hair is darker, is there anyway I can change the color to better match the new one's hair color?
  2. Hi everyone, I am Aguaray, a designer-tool developer who likes design and coding. Recently I developed a color analysis tool “ColorTells” that analyzes the color and help designers understand the color of the artwork better. As long as you upload an image, you can get an analysis result according to a special algorithm. The area on the right is divided into three parts: a honey hive chart, a random main tones part, and a complete color palette. In the first chart, I decompile the most used colors in a picture and display them in a honeycomb-like chart. Just like the real color palette when drawing oil paintings. The percentage value of the main colors is displayed in a hive. You can adjust the density of the color blocks of the honeycomb in preference settings. The second area is to generate 5 colors as you can shift any of them. This function seems common, but it is not that simple. This is the main reason why I make this software. In other tools or websites, as long as you upload an image, it will generate five FIXED colors( or another five colors that cannot be changed) This is what dissatisfies designers the most. Sometimes people like the main color, sometimes the color with the most special hue, and sometimes may the color with low saturation. These cannot be calculated by a fixed rule. In this regard, I designed a random button that you can lock one or more and randomize the remaining colors until you are satisfied. All random colors are the main or outstanding colors selected from the picture you upload. You can also export the five main colors palette out. In the third area, a complete swatch is generated from the picture in the order of proportion. Again, you can also adjust the number of color slots in the swatch according to your personal preference. Regional Analysis: sometimes I encounter situations where I want to analyze only one part of the picture. This would be very troublesome if I need to edit the picture size. In ColorTells, however, you can click the lasso button on the upper left corner of the software to select an area and analyze the specific color. Also, the analysis results for this specific area can also be exported as a swatch separately. An excellent line draft requires practice, and the excellent color sense requires inspiration. May Colortells bring more inspiration to all designers and Affinitiers. Hoping you have a wonderful rest of the week!

  4. If you could add this feature of "Merge" in pathfinder tool like in Adobe illustrator it will help in vector art coloring easily. I hope you take this request into consideration. Thank you
  5. Hi there: I am not sure if this is a bug or not. I am having difficulty selecting a color for a design that I am working on and I am not sure if it is a bug or something else. I use a MacBook Pro 13" running MacOS 10.15.7 (Catalina). The difficulty that I have found relates to selecting different shades of orange - I have put a sample together - included below - which renders perfectly below which I also don't understand. On my machine whether it be the .afdesign file or a JPG/PNG/SVG, all of the colors are rendering as #FF0000. I am trying to figure out why this is happening and would welcome advise/comments. Thanks so much. -Michael
  6. I have an icon in raster format. Icon is stored as .png or .jpg file. Icon is drawn with black or gray color on white background. HOW CAN I CHANGE THE ICON COLOR AND KEEP THE IMAGE QUALITY AS IT IS AND KEEP THE BACKGROUND WHITE AS IT IS ? I have installed Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer so solution can be in both of this software. Please see attached file - I would like to change the icon from dark gray to red - how can I do that ? Thank you !
  7. This feature is unparalleled and extremely powerful. redefines vector coloring. Affinity should do everything in its power to support this feature. @TonyB Learn more: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/gradients.html#create_apply_freeform_gradient
  8. Basically what i'm trying to do it color in any image for an online class project but what I found really wasn't working so I don't know if someone could make a tutorial on this with affinity photo if you have the time or explain how in the best was possible so I can "understand" (learning style wise) since i'm still trying to learn more about affinity or if you know a better method or anything would just as helpful. Thanks for reading if you did, hopefully I posted this in the right spot. Example:
  9. I'm new to affinity designer and had for about two weeks but what been holding me back is I cannot figure out how to color in this software. I'm just completely frustrated when it comes to using the software. I drew a poster design in clip studio paint and taking into affinity to color. That what I would like to do which won't happen now. But it could be helpful for next time please can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong because coloring feels to complex here when I dont feel like shouldn't. Also is there a way to prevent affinity from crashing kept crashing on the image. Can't seem to work in higher files sizes without it tensing up on itself.
  10. Hi there, I have an issues when using using dual monitors: If I open a picture on my laptop, everything is fine - I see a "normal" coloured picture. But if I move the window to an attached 2nd monitor, the picture gets reddish. This effect is even more visible when using a black and white picture: It gets realy red.. See attached pictures. One can see the effect when moving the window very slowly from one monitor to the other - when Affinity "is split" (meaning I see one half on the laptop screen, one half on the external screen) the picture is first shown as normal and then suddenly when moving the window further on the part of the picture on the external monitor switches to this reddish look. If I open the picture in another tool and watching it on the external monitor, everything is fine. So it seems as if Affinity applies a special colouring to the photo maybe in regard to the monitor type I use? Setup: Dell Latitude E7240 Laptop, Samsung SyncMaster 2443 Monitor, Win 10, latest Affinity Version Any ideas? Regards, Oliver
  11. Hi All, A newbie query, But ..I guess, something that should helpful to large Architectural community... What shall be the better way to color Architectural drawings ( exported form autocad as PDF files ). We use shadows for the furniture to give depth illusion ... And also use pattern fill (in Photoshop) to give texture to different type of flooring patterns( carpets , wooden floor ,tiles etc.) ...or highlighting some areas . The pdf drawings imported have lot of text and dimensions at times . ... Having better flood fills selection easily and fast is important . If we get the same or better workflow as Photoshop , I shall be able to convince my office to give this software to everyone in the team. Regards. kay
  12. Hi again! You can’t have an event in Minneapolis without paying homage to the Paisley Prince himself. I was inspired by the film, Under the Cherry Moon. If anyone loves unintentional camp, that film is totally up your alley! Cherry moon is set in a very Fitzgerald/Great Gatsby backdrop which is great for the convention’s 1920’s theme. I’ll post the progress here! Best! Stephen
  13. well, hello, so i create line art like this, i make this with pen tool, and the nodes not joined, my question is how to fill color in every different space between those lines? please give me a fastest technique, i see a person in youtube do it easily with AI on youtube, below
  14. Hello! I am just curious if there is a way to select a specific colour with the colour picker when editing a photo and change just that specific colour.. I've seen it done in videos of Photoshop, but I haven't figured out how to do it in Affinity yet! Thank you!
  15. I often use the color picker to touch up my coloring and once I click on the Paint Brush, the color always switches to the other color... (the two circles under the Color tab) Having to constantly switch back to the color I just picked is obviously annoying and I don't understand why this happens. If I just picked a color I obviously want to use the one I just picked, not the one I had to use 5 minutes ago... How can I fix this?
  16. Hello, I am trying out Affinity Photo as a replacement for CS6 Photoshop. Coloring b&w artwork with channels is something I do in Photoshop. I create an alpha channel then paste in my b&w (or greyscale) artwork . I create as many channels as there are in my print design - usually two to three plus a base color. I can set the opacity of the channel to closely mimic the transparency of gravure printing (what my plant uses). I can also change the color of the channel as many times as I want without ever changing the b&w artwork pasted into the channel. I do not see a way to do this in Affinity. When I try opening an existing PSD file these alpha channels do not appear. There may be a way with layers but only if I can preserve the artwork's tonal structure. I need each layer to multiply and create a composite color of the combined artwork layers. I have attached a simple PSD file to illustrate. Otherwise Affinity is a really good fit for the mural work I do. I like the interface, features and effects. The scale-up test I did produced better results than Photoshop. Thanks, Larry 8.5x11 2color RGB.psd
  17. I told Affinity Team I was very impressed. I had not used AD like this yet. Could not wait to finish the work to post it. Affinity Designer is extraordinary! I drew the lines with pencil and inking pens. From then on, everything is AD, except for bitmap tracing - unfortunately. I have a high resolution drawing, with lots of layers and objects to create effects, ready to print, in a 800KB file. It's easy, fluid work. Great, great, great. Can't wait to finish the entire poster. All the best. Thank you all for your time. Luiz.
  18. I've been focusing on shaing and coloring techniques in Affinity Designer lately. With this Blue Cobalt Shot Glass, I used gaussian blur, layer blending modes (Color Burn and Average) and opacity to acheive the effect that I was looking for. What methods would you use? UPDATE 3/15/2015 Thank you for all of the great input. I'm including the following to this post: The original image I used for inspiration My .afdesign file so you can see the layers Further Explanation (What I was trying to acheive) My goal was to make this illustration as "real" as possible. I've been expirementing with Gaussian blur, gradients, blending modes and opacity to acheive realistic highlights and shading. blue_cobalt_glass_RE.afdesign
  19. Hi I posted the same question before and I'm not too sure if I'm going the right direction... Any steps after this or advise will help a lot. I also don't know how to get rid of the selection brush lines after using it to color certain part of the drawing.... NEW-MERMAID OUTLINE.afdesign
