  1. Hello! Help me find Clone Brush Tool (analog Clone Stamp Tool in Photoshop) in Affinity Designer, please ? Or how can I implement this tool in Affinity Designer?
  2. Hello, I'm looking for option in Affinity Photo to select some area with light texture and clone stamp it to wide area but I don't want source to be moving when I paint. Is this possible to lock that position somehow or use other tool trick to solve that goal? Maybe option to create brush from that? Greetings.
  3. I am having difficulties trying to see if this is possible, so I am wanting to see if someone can help me. I am working on a design that requires duplicate of the same exact design on Affinity Designer. Is there a way to create a clone of an artboard and use it in a different artboard? The clone would be able to change whenever there is a change in the original artboard. For example, let say my design has 2 of the same exact coins and so I draw a coin and add it into a different artboard like a sticker. Later I realize I would like to change the design of the coin, so all I would have to do is change the original artboard and it will update it in my main design. Any help would be appreciated!
  4. Turn bad photos into art. iPad version Affinity Photo tutorial Don’t throw out your bad or low-res photos until you’ve tried turning them into art. Affinity Photo tutorial shows you how to make it into something special. For those who don’t have an iPad, I have also created a desktop version of this video. https://youtu.be/U06MVKQmrUo #iPad #affinityphoto
  5. Hello I am running Version 1.9.1 of Affinity Photo on Windows Desktop I wanted to lighten up the color of the face a bit but ended up basically cloning the light and a blue flag over the sections where I was painting with the clone tool - in the tutorials the Lighten-Clone Tool only picked the brightness level of the source target and applied that to where they painted - so I would not expect it to pick the color and apply it, too, I hope I am not mistaken here? I was following along basic tutorials as I am transitioning to this Editor currently, so I believe I followed the instructions closely: - select clone brush tool - select Lighten (as shown in the picture) - select Source as Current and below I only also reduced the opacity of the tool, which is why you can see the face under the applied color. Basically the Lighten selection doesn't do anything and just clones the target onto the face... For comparison, I upped the opacity to 100% and left all other settings as before in the second picture. Did I forget any other selection?
  6. Contour Clone with ALT not working Is there something wrong with THE CONTOUR TOOL? It says holding down ALT will clone it , it doesn't? Thank you Gary
  7. Feature request: It would be super neat of Affinity Photo's tools would remember last used settings. Specifically the source target option ( Current Layer & Below ) on the Clone and Inpaint tools. More info: I did post a question about this on a different affinity forum where you can see more info:
  8. I'm experiencing persistent crashes while attempting to clone part of one image to another. I'm running Affinity Photo 1.7.1 on a 2018 MacBook Pro 15" with macOS 10.13.6. Here is one of the crash logs: Affinity Photo_2019-08-06-172523_RRL-MacBookPro15.crash. I'm trying to clone Ina, a colleague, out of Ina.tiff and replace her by the bench in No_Ina.tiff. So, following @James Ritson's tutorial (for 1.6, https://player.vimeo.com/video/192599318/), I enter the latter as a new source in the Sources panel, double click it there, choose the cloning tool and option-click on a common point in the two files. Then I go to Ina.tiff, activate the cloning tool, and click No_Ina.tiff in Sources. Now I run into a first problem: the preview of the cloning brush is practically useless, as only bright spots of light appear when I hover over some part of Ina.tiff. Taking a chance on where to place the cloning brush, I click-drag. Soon after I finish, Affinity Photo crashes. The other problem I have with cloning in this way is, I don't seem able to clone from one pixel layer to another in the same document, let alone between documents. Why not? The history for this is, I first developed the a RAW file to produce the Background layer of the document with Ina, then found I had another RAW file that I hadn't intended to develop with just the bench. So I developed it, then copy-pasted it into the document that I was working on in hopes of being able to just clone between the two Background pixel layers instead of having to export both and, I assume, lose the advantage of developing and working in 32-bits. 9. I have a PNG image (attached) that I need to clone the dark background area of the image over the text at the top. How do I do that? I'm sure it's dead simple but I have tried searching all types of terms and looked through the tutorials to no avail. Thanks, ACP
  10. Hi, When using the clone brush tool, I notice that I have options to set the rotation, scale, and opacity of the cloned area, but I can't find any way to adjust the location of the clone source once it's been set. I find it much more useful to adjust this location using the keyboard shortcuts, rather than the rotation and zoom. For reference, the way to do this in PS, is holding Option + Shift + arrow keys. It's extremely useful when the source of your clone has a repeating pattern. Is there a way to do this in Photo? Thanks
  11. Can someone please explain why the settings for the clone tool and the healing brush tool mimic one another? When the settings are changed on one tool, the other tool settings are changed also. Is there a way around this? Thanks.
  12. If anyone uses the clone brush a lot and is constantly changing the angle, scale or flipping the selection, you might agree with having a button to reset the brush back to defaults
  13. Windows 10 Home 1909, Photo 1.7.3.481 and 1.8.0.526 beta. When I make a selection with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, then change to the Move Tool, I can move the selected pixels but the CTRL (clone) modifier – shown in the status bar – doesn’t seem to do anything. The SHIFT modifier does what I expect but the CTRL modifier doesn’t (see attached GIF). Is this expected behaviour, or am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug, or something else?
  14. Hi, I just HDR merged two .jpg and would now like to remove some artefacts by replacing them with things from the source images. I have activated Sources in Studio, but clicking on the Clone tool does not cause it to display the Sources panel. I'm using Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on macOS 10.14.6.
  15. When I have a layer selected I can use CTRL+Drag (in Windows, or whatever it is in OS X) to clone it, and that’s great. But, when I rotate or shear a layer, I cannot also clone it by using CTRL+Drag. I have to make a duplicate and then rotate/shear that. That’s not too much hassle but I think it might be nice to be able to clone a layer while rotating or shearing. Does anyone have a reason why this is a silly idea? If there’s a specific reason why it shouldn’t be done, or there’s some better functionality that could come in the future that could better use this modifier key, then I’m happy to drop this line of enquiry. Just thought I’d mention it.
  16. Hello, I wanted to make an action, in that I need one text layer (entered by the user), and hit play (the action). This has to first convert it into smart object (Not available in AP) make it's different copies re-position them according to the shape apply different effects change colors as needed Distort them without converting them into "pixel" layers (Not available in AP) make one scaleable smart object now the user realises the spelling are wrong.. He only edits one text layer That will update all the text (Not available in AP) Current actions even't doesn't support assets, even if those are made during macro recording. Current actions doesn't allow me to change colors Current available distortion converts text into pixels and no return.. Thank you
  17. I'm having a problem with the Clone Tool stalling. When I click the image I want to select, nothing happens. You must wait awhile for it to show what you have cloned. Then when you try move the cloned image and produce the cloned image, again, it takes awhile before it appears. Finally, when it does appear, the quality of the image is not as intense as the original (it's not a big difference, but noticeable). I've considered uninstalling and re-installing the entire program, but don't know if that will help. I am using Windows 10. Any suggestions?
  18. Dear all, I need to clone from a static source point with the clone tool in photo. In other words I want the source point to remain fixed where it was originally set instead of following the clone tools movement with a fixed distance while hovering over the target area. From what I understood from the docs, this behavior can be achieved by unchecking the “aligned” checkbox but this doesn’t work for me (actually checking or unchecking the box doesn’t seem to change the tools behavior at all. Bug or feature or my fault - don’t know). Is that possible? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  19. If I clone stuff with "Force pixel alignment" turned off I get very blurry results. Is this normal? I Just want to know if there's something wrong on my side or if it's supposed to work like that. Thanks in advance!
  20. Hi all, Is there a way to clone a layer?. Let me explain further, let's say I have a layer or layer group and I want to have many clones of that layer/group in a picture and if I need to change the looks of all of them I go to the parent one and all the clones will update. Something like instances in Designer. I hope this makes sense Cheers, Juan
  21. Hello all, I have a question. I just recently started testing Affinity Photo and would like to know how you can copy the style of the text (without identifying font) and replace a word on the existing document. It's a scanned version of a photocopy of a document. So let's say I want to replace the word SUSPENDISSE with AFFINITY and everything else remains the same (See attached document as an example) How would do that? First I'd need to erase the word and then afterwards use the clone brush tool and find all the letters you need one by one and and paste it on top of SUSPENDISSE? Thanks in advance.
  22. The clone stamp doesnt work at all. I load an image, i click on the stamp icon, i select opacity and strongest 100% i click + alt to select the source and i click a destination zone and nothing is done. Is there is a tutorial wich show this fonction ? i would like to know Thank's
  23. Hello, I want to retouch some scanned black and white negatives on the iPad. The blemish removal tool and the inpainting brush work fine but sometimes I need to use the clone stamp or the patch tool. The tools clone the film grain structure very unsharp as you can see in the attached files (before and after, in the middle of the pictures). Are there any preferences that I have to change?
  24. I downloaded and used the trial right when the product was announced, but I found it missing a lot of the essential tools I use for designing. I do however revisit the website and this forum from time to time and its very refreshing to see a software developer being so open with its features roadmap and in its interaction with its users. Long may it continue. And being as I am in the same city as Serif I have a vested interest in seeing that they succeed in this market. I will unfortunately not be converting from CorelDraw any time soon until Designer gets a Clone tool for vector objects. This is a fundamental to my workflow, the ability to create mirrored symmetrical shapes and only have to edit the master shape for the clones to automatically update. CorelDraw does this very well indeed, it could be better as its not been updated for 15years, but it does work. The other thing I would need is an ability to trace a bitmap (or indeed a vector trace tool to create filled holes from areas bounded by curves) though I do note this is on the roadmap. Import filters would be great too. I have thousands of lineart drawings in .cdr format that i'd love the ability to import, but I guess I can get round that with intermediate formats like pdf or eps.
