  1. Hello! Help me find Clone Brush Tool (analog Clone Stamp Tool in Photoshop) in Affinity Designer, please ? Or how can I implement this tool in Affinity Designer?
  2. Dear all, I need to clone from a static source point with the clone tool in photo. In other words I want the source point to remain fixed where it was originally set instead of following the clone tools movement with a fixed distance while hovering over the target area. From what I understood from the docs, this behavior can be achieved by unchecking the “aligned” checkbox but this doesn’t work for me (actually checking or unchecking the box doesn’t seem to change the tools behavior at all. Bug or feature or my fault - don’t know). Is that possible? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  3. If I clone stuff with "Force pixel alignment" turned off I get very blurry results. Is this normal? I Just want to know if there's something wrong on my side or if it's supposed to work like that. Thanks in advance!
  4. If anyone uses the clone brush a lot and is constantly changing the angle, scale or flipping the selection, you might agree with having a button to reset the brush back to defaults
  5. Hi all, Is there a way to clone a layer?. Let me explain further, let's say I have a layer or layer group and I want to have many clones of that layer/group in a picture and if I need to change the looks of all of them I go to the parent one and all the clones will update. Something like instances in Designer. I hope this makes sense Cheers, Juan
  6. Hi folks, I just noticed another bug, this time with the clone and healing brushes in Photo. The clone brush does not obey the force pixel alignment option. This becomes a problem when there is fine-grained texture or very small text or detail that must be cloned. To see what I mean, follow these steps: 1. create a new document and make force pixel alignment enabled. 2. create a grey rectangle. 3. add maximum noise to the rectangle. 4. rasterise the very noisy rectangle. 5. zoom all the way in to clearly see the pixel detail of the noise. 6. select the clone brush tool and set a source point for cloning. 7. without clicking, move the mouse around to preview the clone At this last step, you can see that it's hard to ensure that the clone will be sharp, as most of the time it is off pixel alignment and the resampling destroys all the detail. This is pretty bad. I was wondering why my cloned areas were so blurry, and this was the reason. Also, here are some other issues I noticed while trying to reproduce the clone/heal alignment bug: 1. If you make a fill layer and add noise, either with live or static filters, no noise appears. In fact it looks like no filters or adjustments work when nested inside a fill layer. This is odd, especially because filters and adjustments will work on shapes such as rectangles. 2. Even though adjustments and filters can be nested inside each other at the root tree level, the nested one does not get applied. Cheers, Jules
  7. Hello all, I have a question. I just recently started testing Affinity Photo and would like to know how you can copy the style of the text (without identifying font) and replace a word on the existing document. It's a scanned version of a photocopy of a document. So let's say I want to replace the word SUSPENDISSE with AFFINITY and everything else remains the same (See attached document as an example) How would do that? First I'd need to erase the word and then afterwards use the clone brush tool and find all the letters you need one by one and and paste it on top of SUSPENDISSE? Thanks in advance.
  8. The clone stamp doesnt work at all. I load an image, i click on the stamp icon, i select opacity and strongest 100% i click + alt to select the source and i click a destination zone and nothing is done. Is there is a tutorial wich show this fonction ? i would like to know Thank's
  9. Hello, I want to retouch some scanned black and white negatives on the iPad. The blemish removal tool and the inpainting brush work fine but sometimes I need to use the clone stamp or the patch tool. The tools clone the film grain structure very unsharp as you can see in the attached files (before and after, in the middle of the pictures). Are there any preferences that I have to change?
  10. I downloaded and used the trial right when the product was announced, but I found it missing a lot of the essential tools I use for designing. I do however revisit the website and this forum from time to time and its very refreshing to see a software developer being so open with its features roadmap and in its interaction with its users. Long may it continue. And being as I am in the same city as Serif I have a vested interest in seeing that they succeed in this market. I will unfortunately not be converting from CorelDraw any time soon until Designer gets a Clone tool for vector objects. This is a fundamental to my workflow, the ability to create mirrored symmetrical shapes and only have to edit the master shape for the clones to automatically update. CorelDraw does this very well indeed, it could be better as its not been updated for 15years, but it does work. The other thing I would need is an ability to trace a bitmap (or indeed a vector trace tool to create filled holes from areas bounded by curves) though I do note this is on the roadmap. Import filters would be great too. I have thousands of lineart drawings in .cdr format that i'd love the ability to import, but I guess I can get round that with intermediate formats like pdf or eps. 11. The clone, heal, inpainting tools are not working on layers other than the original background layer. I checked to make sure I’m working on a pixel layer, opacity is 100%, flow is 100%, hardness is 0 or 10% (didn’t work with either), blending is normal, it’s set for the current layer. I can set the source with my finger, but it just doesn’t do anything. It does work on the background layer, though when I switched the order of the layers, it still didn’t work on anything other than the original background layer. Please fix.
  12. Perhaps I'm doing something really wrong, but my clone tool does not appear to work at all. I've selected the tool, I've done the alt+click to set the crosshairs on my clone source, but whenever I drag over the object I want to clone out, absolutely nothing happens, no changes are made to the image. Opacity and hardness are set to 100%, so I really can't figure out what the problem is. Any suggestions? Blemish removal tool doesn't have any effect either.
  13. new windows feature request to use a right mouse button click to select clone source
  14. Any help is very appreciated. I am new to Affinity and I can not seem to find the "clone tool" or the "inpainting" deal. Thanks for the help. That's a big reason of why I bought this software.
  15. Using the clone tool, regardless of the brush, I'm getting these funky lines in the attached image. How do I make these stop?
  16. As soon as I press the Alt Gr-Button for increasing or decreasing the tool size with "[" or "]", the tool tip changes to the cross because of the fact, that Alt Gr is used to set the copy offset position. To see the current size of the tool tip, you have to release the keys. I suggest to use a circle in tool tip size with small cross lines to indicate the action of setting the copy offset position.
  17. I'm a graphic artist who has worked with PS in its various iterations for years. Unhappy about paying thirty bucks a month for a professional subscription with a lot more bells and whistles than I actually wind up using, and seeing a lot of buzz about Affinity as a genuine alternative. (No, thank you, Gimp and Corel, I'm too old a dog to learn your new tricks...) So, I'm checking out Affinity on the ten-day trial right now. At first glance I'm impressed. At second, actually loading and playing inside the program, it seems to have a simple workflow with all the shortcuts and quickbuttons I'm used to, enhancing the learning curve... BUT immediately upon importing a project and trying to work with it as I would normally, I notice some aspects missing that I'd consider absolute essentials for a minimum standard of design and editing, and some peculiar responses that feel like glitches. a) There is no easy way to merge or delete layers en masse - ridiculous. The 'merge visible' or 'delete hidden' control is crucial for getting through blends quickly and efficiently.b) Where is my clone brush? One hard-edge, one soft-edge: so vital for making basic repairs to any pixel-based image. c) copying over multiple layers from one project to another seems to produce uneven results, edges misaligned or showing up in strange ways. C&P should be exact, not approximate.d) Switching from one tool to another should not also switch you into a different layer. You can really foul up your project by drawing or erasing on the wrong layer, especially if it already contains pixels which you are 'painting over' or images you are enhancing. At the very minimum, you lose the work you've done if you've, say, traced directly on your reference image rather than the layer above it, as a simple example.e) This might be me missing something, but the 'flood fill' doesn't seem to have an opacity control with it, just a boundary sensitivity. I tried adjusting it in the colour panel on the right with no results, and then tried 'fill opacity' under the Effects tab, which made my entire original image opaquing, but had no effect on the actual level of fill. Sometime you just want a subtle blush of colour added to an object, not the crude spraycan of MS Paint. (The 'smudge' also has a very different feel, like trying to use my fist instead of my finger to blend. Maybe I just need to fiddle with settings and get used to it.) If I could get a clone brush and a layer merge, I'd pay the fifty bucks for this program so fast Adobe wouldn't see my dust. Can someone give me some workarounds, or are there pro solutions coming to these issues? With appreciation - Bard Judith (http://graphictional.weebly.com)
  18. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a glitch in my AirPad 2 but the Clone tool remains aligned even when I go to the context bar and UN-select Alignment and have <None> as the controller. Posted this first in iPad Questions. Please remove the incorrectly posted one.

  20. Good afternoon, I want to clean some spots on an old photo with the clone tool brush. In the past I selected an area near the spot with Alt/Click and filled in the spot with Click/Drag. But since the update 1.5 it doesn't work anymore, no matter what combination I try. I use a Macbook Pro with the latest version OSX. Regards, Maarten
  21. It’s a bug or simple my blindness / error in reasoning? Here is a very, very simple example but the method in my complex composing-artworks with a lot of source-flies should be the same. - There are two documents: „source“ and „destination“ - Both have the same size (300 x 300px, 300dpi) and 3 layers: „grey“, „blue“ and „orange“ - In the source-file has the content of layers different sizes: The square with border in the „grey“ is exactly 300 x 300 pixels, „blue“ shows only a part of a bigger circle and „orange“ shows a little (100 x 100px) square. See here. The source-file, „blue“ is selected: Working with sources panel and clone brush I see already after a double-click (to determine the clone-area) the stretched content ... and have in the destination-file an effect like this in the attached destination.png: Only „grey“ stay 1:1. Blue has shrunk and orange has greatly increased: How and where can I change this settings? How can I prevent this stretching or where is my error? How can I clone pixels between files? •••••• A workaround with select an area of a specific layer, copy & paste between files and erase is of course possible but not really funny :P ... and of course not as efficient as cloning of multiple image sources!
  22. Maybe i'm missing it? I need to make copy some pixels i now have to select, copy and place pixels as new layer, move, then merge. Seems like a standard feature for modifying pixels in any bitmap editor.
  23. Hi to all. Newbie to this program and studying in depth on many tutorials. Still hard work getting familiar.! Main question right now is to do with cloning -- when I have set my target spot, that moves with the clone destination brush. However, in an old program I used a lot (Picture Publisher) I was able to lock the target point so that clone brush could move anywhere using that target content. Is this possible in photo? I couldn't find an answer to this anywhere so far - sorry if it's been covered before.
